i think the thing people don’t understand about iron lung is that it’s—above all things—a love letter to indie games that faithfully adapts its indie game source material to the medium of film, flaws and all. everything i see listed as a negative is part of the charm/immersion for me—slow ass beginning that leads to an explosive ending? yeah, that’s unfortunately how most classic horror indie games feel to play lol. expositionary dialogue that’s kind of cheesy? also a staple of the genre. the touch of togue-in-cheekness to the whole thing? what, were you not expecting it from mark by now? whether this works on you or not is a completely subjective thing, i understand why people still wouldn’t like it, but i wish more people would look at it through the lens of mark as gamer and creator who loves the art of the creation of horror games. i think that’s the best way to appreciate this film, even if it’s not your thing.
