I know exactly what you mean, mate, and honestly, mine's probably a little of both? I've always said I'd love to be a professional surfer in interviews, or actually said it once and that's been my answer since for continuity. But do I have the skill to actually do that? Probably not, I just love watching it more than anything. A veterinarian would be a brilliant career, though! Maybe you've made just that thing happen in another life. My true answer tends to change a lot, but the last I thought of doing is running a bakery. And I do like to bake, so it's much more realistic than my surfing skills.

honestly, for being australian, i’d never thought of surfing as a potential career before. my mind just goes to other things, like teaching, or art, or any average guy job, you know ? baking and surfing do seem quite fun, though – i bake at times, but i am by no means an expert. would you be willing to bake for me some time ?

you know i was asked this too, and for the first couple of times i really stumbled through a bullshit answer that i don't even remember, because the truth is i never really saw myself being anything other than an actress, or at least involved in this industry in some way. maybe it's because i was raised by two actors and never knew how to create an identify for myself outside of that. kidding, kind of, but after thinking on it, i think my answer would be a path in psychology. i've been doing a deep dive into the subject for years now and it’s so fascinating. though being a veterinarian would be pretty cool, working with animals all day sounds like a dream.

the industry is vast, so i understand what you’re saying. i just can’t see myself as an actor or anything besides what i do now, if i were to stay in the industry. so i applaud you for thinking like that ! animals have always fascinated me ever since i was little – i have a dog myself and she makes me the happiest. psychology is really interesting, actually – what about it is most appealing to you ?

——- Well , i’m not asked that often but i was asked about my twitter/instagram bio which states about being a reality tv host if all goes badly and i’m between telling you and making you watch because i know you love and adore me . also if i wasn’t a musician -- i’d work in marketing or be a teacher , just saying .

reality tv seems fun, actually ! i love binge-watching those types of shows when i have nothing else to watch. i would totally watch yours, mate. i think teaching would be fun, but i don’t know what’d i’d teach – i stayed in school, but that doesn’t mean i can remember anything i learnt. or was good at, for that matter.

——- Between you and me -- i’m not sure i’ve thought too much about that question and i probably fibbed a couple times . however -- why think of what’s currently not happening and it’s not like tomorrow i’ll stop ? i mean i got the music dream now -- but if i stopped now , i think i’d focus on my podcast and expand on it more .

your secret is safe with me. i think for the most part, i’m just overthinking. i know an obvious answer to those questions would be a solo career – but i’ve done that already. podcasting is a neat topic, it’s always been cool to just listen to people talk about their life and they share it to the world. feels like something i would want to do, also.

you're not alone in this -- there were times i was always quick to lie myself and come up with something that sounded cool. because i had no idea what else i could do besides what i'm doing. growing up in the family that i did -- being a model, an actress, or a musician was something i just assumed i'd do in the long run. though the more interviews i did, the more honest i answered. like i'm really into photography, so being a photographer would be cool. i'm really into painting, so being a professional artist would be cool. though also now that i'm a mom to twins -- i'd be cool with being a stay at home mom as well, which is never something i thought i'd say. but being a veterinarian would be pretty cool, little girl me would have loved to work with animals!

the hemmings’ aren’t as interesting as your family, that’s for sure. i mean, one of my brothers runs a clothing company, so maybe i could also work with that sort of thing ? photography is also quite cool, my mother is one and it amazes me – i never thought she’d be into that sort of field. my mind is still keen on veterinarian, though. animals intrigue me, that’s partially why i adopted petunia. right ? little luke would’ve been so happy if he knew i would want to work with animals all day.

i think you would make a good male stripper. part of me wants to agree i’d also be a couch bum, but there are a lot of things that fascinate me, you know ? i think if you’re an animal parent in a vet’s office for a monthly check-up, hearing “ dr. luke hemmings would like to see you ” would be fucking sick. feels like the start of a fanfiction, though, doesn’t it ?

okay - this may sound super confusing, but hear me out. you know those times when interviewers are like “ if you weren’t famous, what would you be doing right now ? ” did you ever lie in those or did you, you know – be honest ? personally, i don’t know what’d i’d be doing ! so i always lied. but nowdays, i’ve been thinking on those questions, like, a lot – maybe i’d be something cool, like a veterinarian or something. what about you ?
