Tomasz Jedrowski, Swimming in the Dark — Chapter 2
Marjane Satrapi knew that revolution comes at a price. Her works emerged from a place of grieving most of us will never know or understand. Those quick to criticize her or her writing, especially from the lens of leftism learned via academia rather than empathy and solidarity, do a disservice not only to her and her work but, by extension, to all exiled writers, and to those who dared to express their experiences during times when is most dangerous to do so.

They could never make me hate you, complex female character whose reaction to trauma was not pretty and digestible like how people think it should be.
writing tip: put words on page. hope this helps. i will not be taking questions because i have not done this
when you start flinging words at the blank screen, verb and proper noun and sentence structure gone to hell, and as you're traveling whatever road this is - if it even is a road, more a trampled-down dirt path? - it starts to actually make sense and as it turns out, you've got four pages of context and meat on the bones and the sun outside is a little bit brighter.
it happens, sometimes. follow it.
My hobbies include reading, writing and doing neither of those things
They taught us in physics that an object in motion stays in motion unless something acts on it and i didn't care at the time but as a writer i think about this constantly. your character cannot just stop. something has to stop them. something external, something internal, something that costs them. a person doesn't change direction for no reason. a story doesn't either. newton was writing craft advice and nobody told him.
I just wrote 8 pages when I haven't written in months and was beginning to think I'd never be able to again. Idk what it is, but I am sharing and manifesting this energy for every writer who sees this. May you write 8 quality pages effortlessly and find joy writing once more
8 pages you say

You’re bored? Don’t you have The Character to think about? Not a single blorbo to haunt you? None of them ganging up to plague your thoughts? No Situations to put them in?!?!?!?!??!
What they don't tell you about writing is that as you write, you discover scenes and entire plots that you hadn't accounted for that need to be written. So you can spend two hours writing and editing only to realise you're further away from the finish line than you thought you were when you started
Rain is the most beautiful poem nature has ever written ♡
Your honour the man I am representing here today is not a murderer. I would argue he was merely "curating his space" and "regulating his nervous system" by choosing to, quite rightly, cut out a toxic presence in his biosphere
