Hello, everyone! I'm a tumblr ancient who's been lurking around writeblr for a while now, but never actually made an intro post or interacted with peeps within the community, so here I am!
☆ ABOUT ME ☆
name: Laura | birthday: 26.09.1997 | pronouns: she/her
languages: Romanian (native), English (fluent), Korean (conversational; been casually learning on and off for years), can somewhat understand Spanish and Italian
studies: BA in Scriptwriting, MA in Film Production Management
what i’m doing now: social media specialist for the Romanian equivalent to the BBC, still losing my mind over my original characters but now I’ve added more of them
☆ ABOUT MY WRITING ☆
what i like: everything. i love me some nice variety in my genres, themes, and mediums. being absorbed into new worlds and learning from my peers is why i enjoy reading and why i’m a writer
what i write: in two words, murder gays. in more words, i usually write psychological thrillers intertwined with romance and mystery, but I’d like to intertwine this with other genres like sci fi or fantasy
recurring things: characters who are demisexual/on the ace spectrum, deep connections between two people who can truly understand only each other, obsession, the concept of beauty in ugliness, death (as rebirth, as a companion to life, as a cause for grief), generational trauma, nature vs. nurture, loneliness vs. solitude
mediums: novels, film & TV scripts, and I like to come up with transmedia experiences too - check out Forget-Me-Not for glimpses of those.
Below the cut are more details about some of my works~ I hope to make loads of friends, read all of your wonderful stories, and meet all of your OCs, so please interact with this post and I’ll check you out! I follow from my main, @sarcasticjuiceboxes ! Bless you for reading this~
HOLY HERESY - mixed medium (eventual TV series)
themes - (forced) found family, belief/faith, destiny vs. free will, the beauty in the monstrous
summary: The world is a minutely-designed machine, giant and endless, that runs and breaks and gets fixed and runs again in a relatively smooth routine. Sometimes though, anomalies with no known solutions appear: lingering spirits, stretching doorways to other planes, uncanny creatures that challenge the limits of our beliefs, and everything in between.
To reconcile these anomalies is Father Mateo Santiago's Holy Mission, which he's guided through by an old, pink flip phone he simply can't get rid of. He takes out its battery, smashes it, throws it out of a moving car, drives over it, yet every single time, it materializes back into his possession, sending him tasks and directions he can't help but think are divine. Together with a vengeful ghost he promises to help and a morally-defective hustler he can't shake off, Mateo chases the messenger on the other side in the hopes he could hand in his resignation from a job he's never asked for, though the road is long, challenging, and full of perils he can't even begin to reason into reality.
themes - (forced) found family, belief/faith, destiny vs. free will, beauty in the monstrous
warnings - everything. i’m so sorry
word count - TBD
status - in progress

METANOIA - novel & eventual TV series
themes - nature vs. nurture, familial relationships, the illusion of choice
summary: Set in the tiny fictional town of Plain River, the story follows 25-year-old Malachi Azevedo as he tries to regain his memories after an "accident" erases the first 19 years of his life. Stuck caring for his ever-ailing mother, plagued by intrusive thoughts of self-harm, and constantly feeling like an impostor living in the wrong skin, Malachi latches onto The Void - a familiar voice in his head - to cope. He’s convinced The Void was someone important to his former self and tries to find him despite everyone around him denying such a person ever existed. It's this desperate search, along with his fight for independence, which lead Mal down a rabbit hole of love, violence, and hidden truths and force him to finally reconcile with the person he used to be.

FORGET-ME-NOT - feature film
summary: Haunted by never-ending tragedies, reporter Seo Joon decides to end his life in an almost derelict bath house. It's there he runs into a pair of odd strangers who force him to pick a side when they get into a violent fight, Seo Joon accidentally ending up killing one to save the other. A connection immediately forms between Seo Joon and the rescued stranger, Yul, who convinces the former to put off his initial plans.
It's only the next morning that Seo Joon learns two things: Yul is a photographer working for the police, and the man they killed was completely certain Yul was a serial killer trying to claim him as the next victim.

FLAT 27 - short film
summary: Detached from society and impaired by his deteriorating mental state, writer Ryan latches onto one of the last things that can still keep him going - his novel. He fixates on trying to finally finish it, but the incessant noises in his head prevent him from concentrating as he hasn't slept for days on end.
His inspiration is finally awakened when he overhears a tormented cello playing from the neighbouring apartment. Ryan grows dependent on the music to write, believing his neighbour, Damien, is playing specifically for him, and they're bonded through their art despite never exchanging a single word. When Damien starts to show a disconnect by refusing to play as usual and inviting a third person into their "bubble", Ryan is tempted into a depraved act that finally brings him face to face with his delusions.
themes - obsession, solitute vs. loneliness, real vs. manufactured self
warnings - insomnia, stalking, unreality, death

Thanks so much for reading! Hit me up and let’s get a-friending ♥
Sending this in advance of STS :D Your cast of characters is going on a roadtrip - who's the driver? Who sits shotgun? Who's in charge of snacks? Navigation? The roadtrip playlist? Hope you have a lovely, sunny weekend <3 -- ls-daydreams
Liza Dorado does go on a roadtrip in the Heartbeat series! It's not really discussed, but she goes to Mexico with her cousin Candela to visit their family's old town and their ancestral home. Liza is the driver because Candela is a spoiled passenger princess. Thankfully, her playlist isn't horrible.
Happy STS! Someone just posted this about one of my ships, so... your cast are going to the aquarium! What are each OC doing?
Happy STS! 💕 Quinn is definitely sticking her face against the glass and pulling faces at all the funny fish, her faves would be the sharks and her least faves would be dolphins because she thinks they're assholes. Jude's out there collecting facts from all the info points cause he likes gathering random info and Mateo's secretly buying them both stuff from the gift shop 🥺
the thing that many writers, including myself, forget about first drafts is that they're the author's draft. every other draft can be for the readers, but the first is for you and your eyes only.
and use that advantage. don't know what to write? just leave a note and skip it. getting bored? write the scene sarcastically. want to try an idea but know it will cause plot holes? write it anyway! you can do anything. let your first draft be the most self-indulgent thing you have ever created. just let it exist.
ignore that i'm posting this not on a wednesday. but thank you @orphanheirs [x] for the tag! we've got a little snippet from buried in gilded coffins for this one, admittedly using this to introduce inez who's one of meilin's love interests.
"Mei… We need to get you undressed for a bath, unless you wish to bathe in cold water."
She shakes her head and moves out of Inez's hold to return to undoing her corset, but Meilin doesn't get far before her hands are being swatted away.
"Just because I am a Lady, it does not mean that I cannot undress a woman," Inez scoffs, a familiar tone, although Meilin usually isn't on the receiving end of it.
It's usually the noblemen around the castle that are on the receiving end of such a thing. Those who look at Inez and attempt to impress her in some manner that she finds ridiculous, laughing behind a gloved hand before she takes Meilin by the arm to drag her to where those men are not. Always will Inez complain about them; rolling her eyes and say that she's counting down the days until Angus were to emerge from his self-imposed exile because to Inez, he's the only man worth her time.
"Of course not," Meilin replies, dropping her arms to hold the corset in place as she turns her back to Inez. "I just… I suppose I am used to doing things myself."
tagging (no pressure!): @sodaliteskull @leahnardo-da-veggie @ls-daydreams + anyone else who wants to take part!
You can call me Bee! I'm a queer writer in my late twenties, living in the north of England. Pronouns are she/her.
I mainly write horror and supernatural fiction (with some exceptions) but love to read any genre.
I'm particularly interested in themes of loneliness and isolation, and also complicated and destructive relationships between women. In other words, toxic yuri.
This is not an X-rated blog, but I will often reblog horror-related posts which may contain gore, and may also discuss adult topics so take that into consideration. I won't knowingly follow minors.
Other interests include science (I'm a microbiologist/aspiring PhD candidate!), crafts, history, and music. I have the same music taste as your dad: my URL is a reference to the Frank Turner song and my description is from a song by The Proclaimers.
My WIPS:
I am liable to start a new project at the drop of a hat and hyperfocus on that, so this isn't an all-encompassing list!
The Other Side (Horror/Supernatural, Status: 2nd draft)
Set in 1976. Belle and Kay have been best friends since their first day of Year Seven, despite the the vast class differences between them. Belle is the daughter of the groundskeeper at their boarding school, and has spent almost her whole life inside its grounds. Kay's family are landed gentry. Though the two have always vowed to stick together for life, the differences in their prospects start to show during the summer before their final year - and tragedy occurs. Denied the escape she so desperately wanted, Belle's spirit is left trapped in the school - and bound to Kay.
Aster Yellows, (Body horror, short story, Status: 1st draft)
Eyes start growing all over Maya's body. Her doctor says there's no problem. Her family says the doctors know best. Her friends wonder why she's making such a big deal about it. The story is about the drastic lengths she has to go to to be taken seriously.
Christina hasn't left her flat in five years, and she doesn't intend to either. She has no friends or family and her neighbours barely know she exists, but she has all the company she needs in her cat, Marjorie. When Christina suddenly dies, she finds herself haunting her own apartment, watching her body decompose - and Marjorie begin to starve. As a spirit, Christina has to find a way to contact one of her neighbours in the apartment building and get them to help Marjorie, before it's too late.
Happy STS! It's back to school soon, so... what do your OCs' bags look like? It doesn't have to be a backpack- it can be a simple sack, or a purse, or a duffel bag. What does it look like? What decor does it have? What is always in the bag?
Ooooh an excuse to think about baby MalitoGabito in highschool?? [rubs hands together] don't mind if I doooo
Mal used to have this really generic backpack his mom found at the market, some shit with broken zippers he just closes with safety pins, but he drew a lot of graffiti-style things on it in sharpie and he's got lots of badges and pins from Gabe on it too so it's got character. He'd have someone else's cigarettes in there, a couple of pens and sharpies, the notebooks and textbooks he'd need for the day and lots and lots of random junk like old receipts or empty wrappers
Meanwhile Gabe's got like a nice, black Samsonite or some fancy, branded shit like that and he'd have it very tidy, everything in its right pockets - tissues (dry and wet), disinfectant, medicine, books and notebooks arranged in the order of the classes they'd have, pencil case, water bottle and, of course, snacks for Mal 💕
Happy STS! Your cast has to go on a heist! Do they plan it out or wing it? Who does what in the heist? Who gets out and who gets caught? Do they get the thing?
Uuuuu, great question, thank you so much! <3 The Holy Heresy gang would definitely take a bit of time to at least make an outline of a plan and Jude would probably be in charge of that because he has the experience. I'm looking at this from a Leverage-lens and I'd say Jude's the mastermind, Quinn's the hitter and, if necessary, the hacker (as in she can break electronics, cameras, etc), and Mateo's the grifter because he can appear incredibly innocent and assume any kind of character he needs to. I think depending on where the heist is and what they're stealing, both Mateo and Jude could be the actual thief and for sure something goes wrong or someone goes against the plan (Quinn or even Jude himself lol). But they do get out and get the thing. How bloody the leave the place... that remains to be seen :))
Happy STS, Laura. ~~ For any WIP: between Metanoia and Holy Heresy, which is the most angsty? Or has the most 'whumpable' mains? Sending you grand vibes, loads of creative energy, and luck your way. ~~ 🍀🍀🍀 - ✨️ Enc (@enchanted-lightning-aes)
Sorry for taking so long to respond, it's been hectic!
I'd say Holy Heresy has a lot of angsty undertones and is obviously going to be a much, much longer story than Metanoia, so because of sheer volume, it would win. But honestly, I think the angst is more intense in Metanoia because it drives a lot of the story as opposed to just being one thing in an amalgamation of things going on, you know?
As for whumpable mains, no one is more whumpable than my boy Jude. I am putting that man through horrors every single day but it's okay cause I'm making sure he gets good things in return too. Sometimes :))
Quite frankly yall need to be projecting more on the doms. Make the DOM have guilty sexual fantasies !!! Maybe the DOM is shamefully staring at the ceiling after waking up from a dream!!! Yall are cowards. Do none of you have any appreciation for the noble dom identity crisis. Do none of you have any respect for guilty sadists with control issues and who desperately want autonomy for once in their damn lives and who just want to Keep someone, for once, who want to be allowed to Want and Take . Do NONE of yall have any respect for sadists realizing with horror how badly they want to hurt the person they would do anything to protect and take care of and make smile? Cowards, all of you.
Happy Storyteller Saturday!
Out of all the characters you've created, who is the worst at processing negative emotions, and why?
Thanks so much, Winter, this is a really cool question! I had to have a serious think about it, but I think, out of the maaaany characters who have trouble with this, Tommy from Metanoia takes the crown (finally something he wins at lol).
When he was younger, his first reaction would usually be violence, be it if it was in response to anger or embarassment or sadness, etc, anything that gave him the slightest discomfort would get resolved with violence. He got better as he grew up, as in he takes a bit of time to think and seethe a little before ultimately still resolving things with his fists, but yeah. Does that make him feel better? Almost never ❤️ Dude's on the right track though, where the story leaves him he's starting to try a little more :))
I was tagged by @ls-daydreams to create HEART, @lamuradex to create START, @writingrosesonneptune to create OCEANS, and @oh-no-another-idea tagged me for FORBID.
H- He must have been new, because Blu would have remembered him- his appearance was hard to forget. White hair flowed to his shoulders, and his eyes were a dark brown, nearly black. He wore a red bowtie with a blue sweater vest and a purple cardigan, with a yellow headband pushing bangs out of his face. The colors should have been an eyesore, but somehow they looked good.
E- "Even then, you will be immortal. However, if we fail to complete one side of the pact…" The figure started clawing at itself, eyes scrunching up in distress. Pink and gold clashed, struggling to pull apart. The figure grew and grew until it collapsed. "We will be combined. Forced into one being forever. A horrifying monster." He clamped his hands down before the figure could rise. Sparks dotted around his fingers. "That is what happens if you don’t kill Baldar."
A- “And that brings us to the end of our class today! Don’t forget to submit your project proposals by next week! If you have any questions, feel free to drop by my office tomorrow!”
R- "Relax! This is simple. The best way, in my mind, is to stir up trouble and see what comes knocking." Seriously?! Siv had never purposefully caused trouble. Before she could point this out, he was barrelling on.
T- They caught sight of their wristwatch and hissed. The class had run past its usual time. They were running late!
S- Something about him made Blu uneasy.
T- The silence lingered as Siv considered this idea. No magic but just a mask. She finally sighed, pushing her bangs out of her face. "I'll try."
A- “Absolutely not,” she hissed, aiming the gun again. “There is no fucking way I’m going back in one of those stupid Jigsaw traps. I have already done stupid shit like that twice, and that’s enough.” She stepped back, reaching blindly back for the handle of the door. “So, pass.”
R- Ready to complain, she followed the hissed instruction when she saw a platoon of guards march by. They were so close she could smell the metal of their armor. There was the disturbing scent of copper mixed with it. They passed, but Kari kept his grip on her shoulder, keeping her in place.
T- The steam dissipated before he could feel it. Miks didn’t look down. Instead, he continued looking back and forth with a worried look, before pulling back inside. She didn’t pull away from the wall until she heard the bathroom door close.
O- "Oh, she is such a delight, but I am sure you're used to hearing that!" His laughter was just a touch too loud and dragged on just a bit too long.
C- “Calm down, Melody, calm down,” Asshole whispered, holding her tight. He sounded weirdly teary as he held her tight. “Calm down and wait.” His voice was a rumble against her temples. “I know how you feel.” She furiously shook her head as she tried to run backup to Mother. She needed to...she needed to…needed to…
E- "Eagerton, remember this. You're dead. She looks at you and all she sees is rot and decay."
A- "And you stabbed me back, now we're even."
N- "No! No, because this-" Blu yanked their hand away from their arm to gesture to the apartment, to the very world without magic. "This is our home! Why would I bring that here?! I- are you crying?"
S- She was right about the “games” thing, but Melody hated that she was right. “I think she would be better to join our ranks.”
F- “Fuck you.” Melody whispered it, but a shuffle of feathers and the wide-eyed look from the thing with the feather cape suggested it had heard. She raised a brow. It looked away, raising a hand to its mouth.
O- “Oh, you must be Professor Venus!”
R- Runa motioned for him to step in front of her. He did. A swift kick to his back made him fall. He looked up to see Asta, hair tied back nearly as ever and dressed in a sweater dress, stare down at him. A phone was in one hand. She was twirling a pair of handcuffs in the other.
B- Blu took off out of the room and down the hall, trying their best to not shove into anyone.
I- "I'm glad you asked! My name is Virgo, and I..." The librarian spread his arms, allowing sparkles to gleam in the air as Talia gasped. "Am your fairy godmother!"
D- "Do you see her?" The brunette hissed. Riley nodded. "Great!" the girl groaned. They sat in silence, listening to its screeching. Finally, it was silent. He looked around before gesturing to the front door. The brunette and Mary Arden both nodded. He held up three fingers.
I'll have the word JUSTICE for @winterandwords, @mjjune, @mjmnorwood, @perditism, and @livums.
In fact, the room looked bright, as though someone had turned the color filters on a picture all the way up.
A line you think is funny.
Had that been the fucking ax?
She dared a glance back.
Yep, that had been the fucking ax.
A romantic line.
“H-Hello? He-Hello? Can- Can you hear me? Can you hear me?”
“Everything okay?” Riley asked. He had noticed her pause.
“Yeah. Go on ahead, I’ll catch up.”
Sharing a look with the others, he nodded and headed ahead. Mary Arden smiled down at her phone when she was alone. “Yeah, I can hear you.” she said, even if she was unsure that Amaryllis could hear her.
A line about your villain.
The first time she had done this, it was with shaking hands and an ache so sharp in her chest that she had to stop to take deep, gasping breaths. Now, the ache in her chest hurt, but she continued with practiced motions. Pausing would just make the ache worse.
A line about a relationship
Her first memory was of her.
A line you're proud of
You don’t need to be shot. Don’t glow. Even if they totally deserve a punch to the face.
A line that could sum up a character & A line layered in subtext/that says more than you might think
"Let's be honest here. You probably wake up every day hoping to find a reason to keep living instead of slowly dying inside as you go about your day. But by the time you go to sleep, you still haven't found a single reason."
Happy Blorbo Blursday, Laura. ~~ For Quinn: what sorts of places does she gravitate to haunt prior to HH? And why? Sending you grand vibes, loads of creative energy, and luck your way. ~~ 🍀🍀🍀 - ✨️ Enc (@enchanted-lightning-aes)
Thank youuuuu, Enchant <3 Unfortunately for Quinn, she's pretty much stuck where she died and isn't exactly... conscious, I guess? She's sort of a haunting, vengeful echo until Mateo breaks her out of it because he can see and interact with her, so until he shows up and takes her with him, she's just in that one motel room for decades, doing the same thing every single day. It's a major part of her frustration, cause even though she's now able to roam around, she's still basically stuck, just wherever Mateo wants as opposed to just that one room.
