you can literally be a fat person who eats less calories than "needed" per day and when you see a doctor for anything they'll be like "have you tried the 5 Day Mcdonalds Cleanse diet? its where you don't eat mcdonalds everyday for 5 days"

and like idgaf if fat people are "overeating" on fast food daily like thats body autonomy (don't support mcdonalds tho) but it is very telling how doctors dont understand how fatness works like at all

"Have you tried walking more" Yea I actually have and since i don't like passing out it causes me to have to eat to stock up on the energy that takes. But I guess you're the doctor here and you know that walking even more will somehow change that.

THAT PART KILLS ME bc in my situation rn i get well over 12k steps daily most days of the week because of the nature of my job and doctors will see me and immediately be like "you need to walk more" anyway, they do not customize their advice for us or our situations at all, its all the same

okay already i desperately need u.s. americans to practice the phrase, "not where i'm from, but maybe in other parts of the u.s."

because it's genuinely insane the things i've heard americans say 'america doesn't have' when it's just factually incorrect.

for some perspective: during my longest move i did by-car in the u.s., i drove ~3,000 miles. That's ~4,800 km. It took nearly 50 hours drive-times alone. Meaning, if I could have driven without stopping once, it would have taken nearly 50 hours. Of course I split that up over several days.

Driving that same distance here, If there's a ferry+road from Rabat (in Morocco) to Kyiv (Ukraine), I could take it and keep on going another several hours.

So you can understand how silly it is for someone from the u.s. to be asked to answer a question on behalf of the entirety of the u.s.—geographically, culturally, etc.

So now that we've said all that, I need you to know that I listened to a guy from Idaho tell an Irish person today, "yeah, we just don't really get snails much in America."

Snails.

"What does this button do?"

"What button-"

By the time Amarya and Dora turned, Nikolas had pressed the button, glowing a soft lavender with arrows on it.

A loud BEEP echoed through the control room. Outside the front windows, the dirt and metal began to shift and move as the room moved forward. Above the monitors, a screen lit up with E1.

"What's happening?!"

Amarya flipped through the control room manual until a button that matched the one caught her eye. "We're on a track," she said. Now that she was less panicked, she could hear the hum of it. "That guides the system and allows the control room to go anywhere in the building." She squinted in the dim light to try and read all of the manual's small writing. "When the main power goes off, if the button's pressed, it'll go to the last location selected."

This was...fine. It was fine. If one of the attackers had ground sensory powers, they were screwed, but she doubted it. It would be fine?"

Nikolas squinted at E1. "So what's E1?"

Or not.

"...First entrance," Dora guessed. "So...that's probably..."

"The entrance we came in." Where everyone else, including the leader with all the knives, was.

They were on thin ice, and she could hear it begin to crack.

A Gift

As much as Celestine wanted to put up a brave face, they were scared.

Their father's court had been frightening, full of suitors who only wanted the throne and nobles who would happily get rid of them. But somehow, that didn't compare to the terror of a dragon and his nest. Yes, they offered themselves up to Luna the Undying. That didn't mean the fear went away.

Especially now, when Luna wanted to dress them, their eyes covered with a ribbon to make it a "surprise" even as they screwed their eyes shut. It felt humiliating, but Celestine didn't protest. At least Luna was gentle, his teeth and claws careful to not nick them as fabric was bundled on and around them. It felt fine, much finer than they were used to, and that said a lot.

Now Celestine stood, trying to not panic. Luna hovered behind them, doing something with their hair. It sounded a lot more like cursing and the occasional tug than actually doing anything.

Finally, their hair was released and something cool was draped on their head. Celestine barely swallowed back a flinch. "You will need to do your own hair," Luna huffed, a little heat smoldering behind. "But, it will do. Open your eyes."

Celestine pulled the blindfold off.

They stood in front of a mirror. The clothes they had come in, their mother's old blue dress that didn't compliment their green eyes, was gone. Instead, they wore a gorgeous red tunic with gold embroidery, the embroidery creating a pattern of dancing rabbits peeking out from their sleeves. Fine brown boots sat on their feet. And, on their head, sat a fine diadem, a large ruby set in the center and allowed to glitter against their dark curls.

"Is this..." Celestine raised a hand up, almost unbelieving, and stroked the gem. "Part of your horde?"

Luna, blue scales rippling, chuckled. "Of course, my Ruby. You're now part of my horde. Everything within it belongs to you now as well."

Celestine... Ruby ignored the heat in their face, focusing instead on that gem.

They couldn't say that they didn't like it.

"I think a classmate is missing," Megara said. He wasn't sure if she was a classmate, but something was wrong here, and he didn't know what. Finding her was a step to figuring it out, he was sure.

The teacher glanced at their clipboard and raised a brow. "Who?"

What was her name? What... "R.K? I think that's her name. Dark hair, blue eyes?"

"Who?" Levi said as Hope nodded. "I've never heard of her. Meg, are you sure you're okay-"

"Are you sure?"

Lost

For @flashfictionfridayofficial's prompt of "Wrong Sign"! When you go on a road trip out in the desert, it's important that you have a reliable navigator.

The van stopped in front of a rickety wooden sign, dust and sand screeching up under the tires. Rather pointedly, it was the wrong sign, not pointing Liza towards the town she was looking for. Instead, in faded, peeling paint, it read:

Vuelve atrás. Aquí no hay nada.

"...I think we're lost."

"Oh, yeah, we were supposed to take a left turn."

Liza blinked. She turned to Candela, still lazily eyeing the map. "When was that supposed to happen?"

"Uh..." Her cousin continued to eye the map, popping out the lollipop in her mouth. "Fifteen...Thirty miles back?"

It took all of her strength to repress the eye twitch. "...And you didn't say anything when I turned right?"

"I figured you knew what you were doing."

"...Excuse me."

Liza hopped out of the van, slamming the door shut behind her. She walked behind the van. She pulled off her hat, wincing at the feeling of the fabric against her sweaty skin, and took a moment.

Her hat didn't muffle the scream as much as she wanted.
