I used the paper mache technique with newspaper and 50-50 watered down glue on top of a balloon. After I took out a deflated balloon a few days later, I layered tissue paper over the round shell and cut out the “pumpkin” into a jack-o-lantern.

Weathered Down
Medium: Tempera Resist - made by painting in tempera paint. Then, when it dries, apply a layer of water-based ink. After 40 or so minutes, gently wash off the ink.
