I like myself best when I am alone. I can rarely tolerate the person I am around others, and often leave social events feeling faintly disgusted by the fool that hijacks my body when I am expected to converse and socialize. I say things I don’t mean and that aren’t important, because I have to say something, but my words and actions take the shape of something I don’t recognize as myself. I wish that I could be quiet when I cannot be wise, and strike some balance between distant, uncomfortable moodiness and complete buffoon. I think that’s why I prefer to express myself in writing.

I enjoy socializing, sometimes, but it often leaves me feeling… diminished. I suppose every circus needs its clown.
