Ready for a new adventure in Calgary!

Highlights of this week will be Peter and the Wolf as a storytelling, and first time playing Out of Doors by Bartok! Can’t wait to be engaged with two of my favourite composers in, as always, one of my most beloved place. It will be so fun to play and scare the kids!

Proprio l’altro giorno, quando Federer ha vinto il suo 18 slam, mi sono tornate alla mente le letture di Foster Wallace, sia di Infinite Jest sia del suo saggio su Federer, dove si descrivono i “momenti Federer” nella maniera più elaborata, raffinata, cerebrale e con una ammirazione sicuramente sincera. And so… let’s begin the 2017 with the place where you can feel a certain type of tradition and atmosphere the most. Ready for my Wigmore Hall debut, next Sunday! And already here in London for exciting meetings and performances. Tonight at Bob Boas, 22 Mansfield Street, and tomorrow at BBC Radio 3 In Tune. Very happy for this start of the year, hoping it will lead to greater and greater things! I can’t wait to perform a program that was thought for a long time, and l don’t think l can find anything better that shows who l am and how l feel the music in this moment. From Byrd to Adès, under Dowland and with phantoms here and there. Structures and emotions, old and new perspectives. This is London!

Ready for the last concert of the year,  l’m playing in Chicago at the Cultural center for the Dame Myra Hess memorial concerts series on Wednesday. Some more Dowland, Adès and Beethoven. It will be broadcast live on WFMT 98.7 fm and streamed live at www.wfmt.com at 12:15 local time. Hope you can make it, either in person or on the web! It will be my first time in the Chicago winter time, and l hope l will note freeze...Forecast says -20 degrees are expected (-4 Fahrenheit). Looking forward to it, and to going back to Italy right after. I definitely miss home!!!

Having wonderful time in Singapore! First time playing in Asia, beautiful city and feel so spoiled! Last night, great feelings sharing the stage with amazing Tee Khoon Tang, for Beethoven early years project: violin sonatas op. 12 n. 3 and op. 30 n. 2 and Pastoral sonata op. 28. Esplanade just spectacular, such a warm acoustic and beautiful piano. The city is just behind every expectation: it is too fancy:)

Tomorrow outeach for kids with an actress, very much looking forward and curious about it.

Definitely looking forward to coming back here in May.

The Ohio river between Indiana and Kentucky. Tonight @Madisonville Community College, special recital with special program. It will be a long journey, because music allows us to travel in time. Byrd/Dowland (the most pop song of the XVII cent!), Adès (with a glimpse to Dowland phantom) and Beethoven Appassionata in the first half. More Adès (Traced overhead: honestly just the most beautifully disturbing music l know for piano) and my most beloved Schumann Fantasy. It will be also the program for my Wigmore Hall debut, in January. And l don't think of any more personal program that represents me than this one. Welcome to Midwest.

Lot of first times this week: first time in Saskatchewan (must learn the spelling....), first time in Regina (how lucky, an Italian name!), first time with the RSO with fantastic Gordon Gerrard, and last but not least first time Mozart #22. This is probably my favorite Mozart concerto above all, it is so special to me and l'm really looking forward to playing it. Playing Mozart is always a deep immersion into opera: you can feel the theater, the characters, the humor, the drama. It is the most beautiful music, the most simple and the most perfect. His music just elevates you. Feel lucky

Back in one of my favorite town:) In Calgary till Thursday for recitals and masterclass! Yesterday recital at the Calgary Italian Cultural Centre, felt a bit at home. Today more Schumann, Beethoven and Debussy.

Back in La

Welcome to my blog/Benvenuti sul mio blog!

Welcome to my personal blog! l’m close to a very special event to me: my LaScala debut and l thought this as the best occasion to start my blog, where you can find thoughts, impressions, pictures and videos on my life as a pianist. Don’t be afraid, l won’t post only about music, music and music! But for now, let’s go back to the debut.

l’m really eager to play my first Rach2 in my home-town, Milan,  in the best possible theater to a Milanese like me, with LaVerdi orchestra, an orchestra l’m really close to: all those things make me really looking forward to Sunday! Of course l’m really excited: responsibility, fear, joy to play this blockbuster! Reharsals are starting on Friday, so better for now to go back and practice! l’ll share more with you on the way!

Benvenuti sul mio blog personale! Ho pensato che non ci fosse occasione migliore per iniziare questo mio blog che il mio debutto alla Scala! Condividerò pensieri, impressioni, foto e video della mia vita da pianista. Non abbiate paura, non posterò solo cose di musica, musica e ancora musica! Per ora, ritorniamo al concerto di domenica. 

Sono molto ansioso di suonare il mio primo Rach2 nella mia città, Milano, nel teatro per eccellenza per un milanese come me, con l’orchestra LaVerdi, un’orchestra con cui ho sempre avuto un grande feeling, e che ho sempre seguito da spettatore fin da bambino. Per tutti questi motivi, questo per me è un concerto veramente speciale. Poter suonare un simile capolavoro è sempre una grande responsabilità e una gioia. Le prove inizieranno venerdì, meglio tornare a studiare ancora...vi terrò aggiornati!
