âUh-huh.. And who are you to her?â Kassia questioned, noticing his smirk.Â
He laughd at the girls protectiveness. âA friend I hope. Jack set us up on a date a few days ago.âÂ

âUh-huh.. And who are you to her?â Kassia questioned, noticing his smirk.Â
He laughd at the girls protectiveness. âA friend I hope. Jack set us up on a date a few days ago.âÂ
âI am tired of this place.â
The black haired girl opened up the trunk of her car, to let him put the box of books in it. âYou know my sister?âÂ
He set the box down before looking over at her with a smirk. âWeâve met a couple times.âÂ
Blind Date
Her smile brightened instantly and she looked back up towards him. âYou would? Thatâs great!â She chuckled at the thought of her sister meeting him at Christmas. âYouâre a brave man, Kassia is very protective. Iâm sure you two would get along great though, if she doesnât scare you off.â
âOh boy. Your sister is starting to scare me. Should I be concerned?â he said with a laugh âShould I bring something to defend myself?â he said his eyes wrinkling as he smiled. âJokes aside its good that you have someone who cares so much about you.âÂ
Blind Date
âWell, unless you have other plans,â she blushed, feeling a bit shy now. Why would she assume he would want to see her on Christmas? âObviously you donât have to, I totally understand if you donât want to.â Ela smiled and looked down.
Lucas debated reaching over ad giving her a reassuring touch. He didnât want to make it awkward on a first date so he kept his hand to himself choosing to instead smile brightly at her. âNo. I have no plans. The kids away. The stores closed on Christmas day. Iâd love to spend the day with you.â he smiled âAnd your sister of course.âÂ
âI am.â She said flatly. âAh, cool cool. Iâm Kassia Kijeck.âÂ
Lucas raised a brow smirking over to her. âKijeck? I am assuming that makes you Elas sister then?âÂ
Blind Date
âOh, I hardly ever lie.â She couldnât help feeling a bit relieved, she had wanted to ask about his sonâs mother but didnât know how without sounding awkward. âNormally we have a quiet family thing, but I think it might just be me and my sister this year. Maybe thereâll be something fun to do in town, it would be nice to see a friendly face on Christmas.âÂ
âIâll have to take you word on that then.â he said with a gentle happy chuckle. Ela was nice, too nice for him maybe? âAre you inviting me out on Christmas?â he said with a smirk. âMaybe I am not as rusty as I think I am.â he joked awkwardly giving the back of his neck a gentle rub. God he was lame.Â
âBut here you are, killing my dreams.â
Blind Date
âIs it still called flattery if Iâm just being honest?â she smiled, her cheeks beginning to blush a bit. âWell, whether itâs naive or optimistic, maybe Hades will give us a quiet Christmas. Are you staying in town with your son?â She thought he seemed like the type to have a big, real tree all ready to go for Christmas.
âMaybe not. Though how do I know if youâre being honest or not?â he asked coyly with a chuckle smiling over at her. Tensing a bit at the mention of Hades but brushing it of quickly as to not sour the mood. âIts my Exs turn with the kid this year. So heâll be over in St. Catharines. But boxing day, itâll be one heck of a Christmas.â he laughed gently. âHow about you? Any big plans?âÂ
âI was perfect able to.â She spoke âThatâs cool. I donât know your name by the way.â
He looked at her amusingly âSure you were.â he stated plainly âLucas. Lucas Diguard. I own the hardware store?âÂ
âHey I was very willing to to carry it myself.â She explained. âYou have a kid?â
âWilling is one thing. Able is another.â he said before perking up. âYeah, a twelve year old boy.âÂ
âPot isnât even that bad for you. I love butterflies why are you killing my dreams.â
âYou canât kill a dream that isnât plausible there kid.âÂ
âBeing a butterfly would be awesome. You donât have to worry about anything. You donât have to worry about guns or being robbed or shit like that, you just gotta make sure your wings are in check and youâre good.â
âKid I think you need to lay of the pot... or read a bit more about butterflies- Probably both though.âÂ
The chuckle led to a smile from the younger one, glad that the vibes from before had all but disappeared. Still, it was a shame the other was so stressed, and that semblance of pity was heard in his voice. âHeh. Iâll be sure to keep that in mind.â
âGood, I guess. I suppose that makes you my one good deed for the day.â he said with a smirk. âLook iâll buy you a new cup if youâd like. I was standing in the middle of the sidewalk like a asshole.âÂ
âYou ever heard of migration? We could see the whole western hemisphere if we were butterflies.â
âRegardless kid I think you are over simplifying it. Being a butterfly would be shit. Especially if we retained our human ability to thought and reason.â Â
âYou might still. You never know what box I might ask you to carry for me next time.â The girl explained. âI used to. But they why hold on to something that you donât even touch anymore.â
âPerhaps I should put you on my âdo not helpâ list.â he chuckled âWho knows. Maybe its the idea my kid can read them?â
âAnd we wouldnât take life for granted. And insects have super easy lives. Like you just eat and live and thatâs it.â
âOh yes easy lives, avoiding birds, eating pesticides and the fact we live in Canada. Not a huge issue.âÂ
