Did you ever realize that comparing The Lion King to Hamlet puts the whole movie in a completely new perspective? In Hamlet, it was okay for Hamlet to kill Claudius because it was just royal family drama. But there was no oppressed minority in Hamlet. In the Lion King, the hyenas are an oppressed minority. They are exiled in a wasteland where they don't have enough food to eat and are discriminated against. Then someone like Scar comes and promises them food if they help him to kill the King. So of course they follow him, because they want a good life like the lions have. But we never see them in the second movie as part of the clan. So this means that they're probably still somewhere in the wasteland, if not genocided. In addition, also some lions who supported Scar now are exiled. Which implies, that the only thing Simba learned from the whole story of The Lion King 1, is that the only reason minorities rebel is that they were not oppressed enough. And he needed to oppress them more.
