The air itself was wicked as she stared down; those eyes weren’t human. It was like staring at the feral cats of the twisted woods. creatures who had no motive, no love, only a want to feed on flesh. She stood frozen, unable to look away. It was a herald of what was to come. of how the peaceful life she’d been leading was over now. Wonderland was trying to warn her.
The alices had tried to warn her.
Y/n hadn’t listened, and now all her joy would be snuffed out. She could feel the being of the end now.
She watched a new kind of monster come out of the shadow man. He looked like… he looked like one of hers. But that wasn’t possible; they were all dead and buried. Those things couldn’t be hers, even if they looked the same. with exposed brains and crazed eyes that stole souls away. It wasn't one of hers.
Aizawa’s scarf wrapped around her, pulling her and the two boys away from the stairs. She hadn't pulled her eyes away.
“So you scumbags used the press as a cover and sneaked onto campus.” AIzawa’s voiced broej through to Y/n. She still looked down at all the villains entering her school. There were too many to count.
“Hey, are you alright? You seemed lost for a second there?” Kirishima’s words trickled into her ears. She blinked up at him; she hadn’t let go of his hand yet. She was still holding Midoriya, too. She gently dropped them both.
“My stomach hurts,” Y/n mumbled, a tiny lie. She was cramping, but that’s not what was bothering her. She watched as Aizawa’s scarf leapt out at all sides, levitating around her.
“real villains? No way. How could so many of them get into a U.A. facility this secure?” Kirishima asked, staring down at Y/n. She backs up a little, towards Shoto. He stood firmly next to her in an instant. His hand found its way to the small of her back.
Y/n was trembling.
“Yeah, thirteen, why aren’t the alarms going off?” Y/n blinked. Normally, the sounds would be attacking her ears right now. Instead, her world was dead silence on the outside.
“Is the entire campus under attack, or is this their only target?” Shoto asked, his eyes moving away from Y/n slightly.
“Either way, if the alarm sensors aren’t being triggered, then one of these villains must have a quirk that’s masking their presence here. They carefully chose this isolated facility as an entry point at a time when a class was being taught. They’re fools for trespassing here, but they’ve thought this out.” Y/n could feel the stiffness in his voice. To anyone else, it was just his normal monotone voice, but to Y/n, she could tell he was worried.
maybe even a little afraid, though Y/n knew when something truly terrified him. Perhaps he was more annoyed. After all this, their lessons for the day had been ruined.
“Whatever their plan, they must have a concrete objective in mind. But what is it?” The rest of the class reacted quietly in terror.
“Thirteen, get them out of here and alert the main campus. Actually, if they’ve got that ability to block our sensors, then they might be jamming our regular communications too.” Aizawa mubled, stepping further away from the class. Y/n took a step towards her dad. The last thing she wanted was for him to go.
She could call the white rabbit and get everyone out of there in no time. White Rabbit would be frightened and maybe annoyed to have so many people in his tunnels, but it would be fine. Shoto gripped tightly onto Y/n’s arm, stopping her from moving anymore. She looked up at him, tilting her head at him slightly.
“Kaminari, try using your quirk to contact the school.” Shoto shook his head.
“Yes, sir.” Y/n furrowed her brow; she knew that look on his face. He was trying to stop her; there was the fear she knew. It lingered in the back of his eyes lightly.
“What are you gonna do? You can't fight them on your own! There are too many of ‘em. Even if you can nullify their quirks, your fighting styles are not suited for this. Your power works best in stealth and one-on-one fights. That’s not gonna help with a group.” Midoriya brought more fear into Y/n’s heart.
Her father was more than capable, but this. This was different.
“You can't be a pro if you only have one trick.” Aizawa paused, looking back at Y/n. Her eyes were wide in terror, in a new way. In a way, Aizawa hadn’t seen in a few years.
He nodded once, then turned around.
It's all going to be okay, Petal, I promise.
“I’ll leave it to you, Thirteenn.” The AIzawa was gone. He jumped down effortlessly, landing and attacking. She’d watched his fight on TV a few times. It scared her every time, no matter what. She felt Shoto begin to pull her away.
She followed behind him and the rest of her class. She looked back briefly to see Midoriya watching her dad.
“Midoriya! Come on.” Y/n stopped running, forcing Shoto to halt with her. Iida paused with the pair.
“This is no time to be analyzing. We have to go!” He yelled over to the broccoli-haired boy. The group resumed their run towards the door, only for the shadow man to appear right ahead of them. Y/n staggered forward, her balance off. Shoto’s cold hand found its way to the back of her suit, pulling her back upright.
“There is no escape for you. It’s a pleasure to meet you. We are the league of villains. I know it’s impolite, but we decided to invite ourselves into this haven of justice to say hello.” Y/n stared up at the moving mass of shadow before her. he sounded like 𝙰𝚕𝚒𝚌𝚎 in a way, both spoke so elegantly.
“Besides, isn’t this a fitting place for All Might, the symbol of Peace, to take his last breath?” Y/n’s entire body froze.
They wanna kill Uncle MIght?
“I believe he was supposed to be here today, and yet I see no sign of him. There must have been some sort of change in plans that we could not have foreseen. Ah, well, in the end, I suppose it doesn’t matter. I still have a role to play.”
Thirteen raised her finger to release her quirk when both Bakugo and Kirishima jumped into the air. Their body flew towards the shadow man, hopping to land an attack. An explosion rang through the air as Y/n tried to pull up a wall of thorns to protect her class.
Her knees hit the ground as the explosion shook the building. She could feel a dull burning on her skin as she watched the smoke begin to clear. She couldn't feel Shoto’s hands on her anymore.
“Did ya think we were just gonna stand around and let you tear this place to shreds?” Kirishima’s armed were hardend as he spoke. Y/n stared at the clearing smoke. The only thing the explosions had hit was her wall of thorns. The shadow man had moved behind.
“You live up to your school’s reputation. But you should be more careful, children. Otherwise, someone might get hurt.” The shadow man’s neck was covered in some metal bars. Y/n looked up a little to see SHoto already moving to help her up.
“You two, get out of the way right now!” Thirteen yelled. Just as she went to attack, the shadows moved through the students. Y/n looked up at Shoto, fear covering her face as his hand was swallowed whole.
Then, she saw nothing but black.
…………………………..
The ground was cold, and Y/n was laying face first. She cracked both her elbows and slowly pushed herself up. She stared down at the yellow concrete. There was some blood dripping onto the floor. Genly, Y/n brought her hand to her nose; she was bleeding a little. She must have fallen from the Shadow Man's warp quirk.
“Finally awake, are we, Alice?” Y/n tensed, her entire body freezing on the floor. something stopped in her chest, whether it was her heart or the combustion of her soul, Y/n wasn’t sure.
Trembling, Y/n brought her eyes up, and knelt before her was a monster, a red eyes monstered. hands covered his body and face, but her eyes shone right into her. He laughed a little bit as he tilted his head. His eyes were trained right on her face.
“What is it? something on my face?” Y/n didnt move from where she was laid out. She was dead frozen as he spoke.
“Kurogiri? How high did you drop her? I don't want her brains to be all messed up.” The man in front of her sounded like a whiny child.
“Forgive me, Tomura Shigaraki, I had not imagined that the fall would daze her so; she was not noted as fragile.” The shadow man named Kurogiri voiced above her. Y/n let out a long breath, her eyes sharpening.
“Where did you hear that name?” the man with hands all over him, Tomura Shigaraki, tilted his head down to her.
“Oh? So you can speak just fine? I'm so glad, I couldn't have you injured as quickly.” Shigaraki laughed a little bit. Y/n pushed her body up, standing up fully.
“So there are some teeth on you. I was getting worried.” Y/n felt the thorn-covered vines growing under her hands. They began to move around her, making a shield around her arm.
“I won’t ask you again.” Shigaraki seemed to relish under her eyes. There was a level of unbridled fear in her as she stared at this pale, red-eyed man. He was just laughing at her.
“I know everything about you, Alice, from your birthday to how you murdered your father. There's no single move you ever made on the board that I don't know about.” Her hands slammed on the ground, thorns pushing outta the ground, moving towards Shigaraki.
The shadows moved quietly, all her thorns disappearing into the warp gate.
“Shut your mouth right now!” Y/n allowed her hands to rise higher, more thorns moving out of the ground. They moved in a frenzy as Y/n jumped back away from him.
“Don’t run, Alice, I’m not done with you!” Y/n allowed the thorns to wrap around her, moving through the area. She jumped down into a group of villains, her hands moving to the blue scarf wrapped around her waist. She pulled it free, looping it around a charging villain.
Through the lens of her mask, she could watch the exact angles each villain was moving in. She wasn't as precise as Aizawa was with his scarf. He was more stable, better than she was. She tossed the villains away one by one. She was trying not to be so heavily reliant on her powers. It was dangerous to use only your quirk. She needs to be more than just a power source.
She brought them in close, only to slam them back down, just like her dad had taught her. Her blue scarf was getting dirty with every villain she tossed around. She hated it, how clean her costume was, and now it was messy.
She turned around softly, her leg getting caught on a pebble, pulling her body down. Her head snapped up, ready to fight again. More villains would surely be circling her by now. Y/n was paralyzed by the sight before her. So much blood, it pooled on the ground. It hadn’t been more than a few minutes since she started to fight.
She watched him scream in pain, her dad… was on the ground. That monster was perched over him, pulling her arm back. Shigaraki was standing in front of him. Her dad was bleeding all over the place; his goggles were torn away. His face was warped in a way she hadn’t ever really seen before.
She’d seen her dad afraid many times, she’d seen him tired, seen him so angry that his eye twitched.
She had never seen Shota Aizawa lose before, lose so violently.
She watched as his head was smashed down and up again.
She didn't just see her dad; she saw the future, the life she was given under him. the life she never would've had without him. all the nails he pained for, all the meals he made, all the training, all the love. Every little moment would be void if he weren't there to make more. The sounds of his skull against the ground crackled in her mind. Suddenly, she was back in that horrible place.
Back in the labs, where this was normal, it was her everyday. pools of blood that she could swim in. She didn't want that for Aizawa, never him.
Her body moved before her mind did. Thousands of vines wrapped around the monster, throwing him away from Aizawa. He groaned quietly as she. dropped to his side. She gently pulled him up, her eyes frantic as she looked him over. She wasn't sure if he could really see anything.
“Alice, welcome back.” Shigarki laughed as Y/n grasped her teapot that popped into the air. Y/n poured the tea right down Aizawa’s open mouth; there was no time for sugar or cream. He needed to be healed right now. Her hands were shaking as she let the teapot float in the air.
“What are you doing here, kid? Have you lost your mind, young lady?” Aizawa snapped softly. His face was all bloody and cracked, and still he was scolding her.
“The rescue hero is out of commission. But there were students I was unable to disperse, and one of them got outside of the facility.” Y/n gently laid Aizawa down.
“It’s gonna be okay, I promise.” She mumbled gently, standing upright. The teapot popped into her hand, and she could feel it heating up.
“Young lady, don't you dare!” Aizawa cough bit it was too late. She aimed the teapot at Shigarki’s head. A ball of fire launched towards him, but the warp gate moved. She didnt stop firing them off. The teapot handle was burning her hands; she could feel her skin beginning to blister a little. Orbs of flamed tea whirled into the portals. Her feet were planted, one leg on either side of Aizawa’s body.
“Come now, Alice, that won’t work well for you.” Kurogiri voiced. Vines wrapped around Kurogiri, tightly lifting him into the air. Her vines began to crush into him. The thorns prickling into the metal bars around his body. She could feel the squeeze of the metal as if her hands were around him.
“That’s not my name.” Y/n launched herself towards Shigaraki, the pale man didnt move as a shadow came up behind her. She pivoted her body, allowing vines to fully encase her leg. She was strong, stronger than most would believe. She didn't know what this thing could do, she didnt know if they had managed to reach into her nightmares and pull a beast out. She couldn't take that risk.
Where was All Might?
The creature backed up a little, growling inhumanly. She stared up at it; it didnt react to any of the thorns currently piercing into it. Her thorns were not like an ant rose thorn. The beast should've been on the ground, should've lost its leg. Y/n jumped away, her breath coming out in short puffs. The slamming noise resumed in her ears. Another monster was lingering on top of her dad now; it was smashing his head down.
“No!” Y/n flung herself forwards, trying to reach her father. She felt the creature grasp onto the back of her heel; she felt the sudden crackling of her bone in its grip. her entire body recoiling into the ground. She coughed violently as she felt pieces of rock cut into her skin. Something was wrong with her. Her back ached as the creature stood above her. It growled deeply as it inched lower, taking a knee.
“Alice, meet Nomu, and Nomu.” Y/n stared into the thoughts eyed creatured. Rage was all she could see. It was a feeling she understood well. All this thing had was rage. Y/n threw her hands in front of her, allowing the vines to make a dome around her. In the dark, she fiddled with her belt till she found her deck of cards. The flowers would be too dangerous with so many of her classmates around. Her hands trembled as she tried to sort through them.
She had no idea where Kurogiri had warped them. The pollen could kill them all. Her vines continued to grow as the Nomu pounded against her dome. Her body tremored at its own will as she fumbled through the cards, a machine gun, grenades, poisonous cakes and cookies, a catabolt, and more. She had plenty of empty cards; she could try to trap him in one. The sentient weren’t easy to capture.
Y/n stared up as the Nomu roared in her face. That noise was feral, like all Wonderlain’s creatures. He continued to break through her vines at a rate she’d never seen before. She slammed her hand against the floor.
“White Rabbit! I need you, please!” A hole appeared instantly next to her. The white rabbit popped his head up quickly.
“Alice, come on, you'll be late to save your father.” Y/n threw herself down the rabbithole, her costume becoming dirty. She smiled as she saw the small light at the end of the tunnel, her body popped up into the air, her cards flowing through her hands. She glides across the air, throwing card after card at the Nomu. The card exploded on impact in blares of pink.
The Nomu roared at her as she remained floating in the air. It jumped up, its fist flying towards her face. She gasped sharply, jumping off her floating card. The Nomu followed her descent to the ground, and she felt uneasy. She’d never been so bad at combat; she was terrible in this moment. She was failing.
She wasn't doing any of the things she was trained to do. She felt its massive hands grasp around her torso. She felt the wind knocked out of her as it smashed her body into the ground. Her mask was glitching out, clogging her vision. It shifted through heat vision to stealth mode and then would black out over and over.
Her hands clawed at its arm, trying to will it off her body. Her powers weren’t responding to her. Her strength wasn’t working; she couldn’t stop it. Her hands were trembling; she could feel herself panicking.
“How sad, so it seems Alice isn't nearly as strong as we were led to believe.” Y/n coughed as she grasped her hands tightly around the Nomu’s neck. Her hands began to light up in waves of the rainbow, and she could feel the panic in her body.
Y/n closed her eyes for a second, taking in a long breath. She needed to calm down and focus on her hands. The nomus struggled underneath her grip as she warped it. The muscle was cold, dead like her. She could feel holes beginning to pop up. Mushrooms began to pop out of their bodies, exploding small spores into the air around them. Her body pushed off the ground with waves of color surrounding her.
Finally, she threw it down, and it began to convulse. Vine sprang through its body, through the cold muscles, and threw its organ, trapping it to the ground. Y/n blinked and watched as Shigaraki moved; his body was faster than she would imagine for a frail-looking man.
Tsu, Midoriya, and Mineta were all in the water; she hadn’t seen them at all. Shiagarki was aiming his hand toward Tsu. She grabbed onto her scarf, throwing it towards his arm. She didn't know what his quirk was, what it could do. Y/n hadn’t seen it. All Y/n knew was that the way he was reaching his hand towards her face was not good. She could faintly see the terror in Midoriya’s eyes.
The blue scarf glided through the air, but as it wrapped around his hand, Y/n got ready to rake her entire arm back, but it was too late. His full hand was on Tsu’s face, but nothing was happening. Y/n was tense as she stared at his back; her breath was stilled.
“You really are so cool… Eraser Head.” Shigarki’s scratchy voice pulled her eyes to Aizawa. His eyes were glowing as he activated his quirk. His head was pulled back and slammed down. Y/n dug her feet down and squatted a little. She gripped on tighter to her scarf, her blistered skin ached.
She only had so much time before his quirk was on.
Y/n pulled harder, her arms glowing softly as Shigaraki’s hand was pulled away from Tsu’s face. Y/n let out a small breath of relief until she saw the warp gate forming. She could faintly see Midoriya’s body moving through the air; it was a vague heat sensation. Her mask was in a frezy state. She couldn't see properly at the moment.
Air was pushed around as she gripped her scarf tighter. Maybe if they were lucky, Shigarki would be knocked unconscious by Midoriya’s punch. Aizawa needs medical attention right now; he was still bleeding under the Nomu. The Nomu that she had been fighting was resisting her vines. Thankfully, with her planned feet, she could keep producing more.
She wasn’t as good at controlling them with her feet, but it would have to do. One Nomu was dangerous enough against her, and it hadn't even used its quirk. unless its quirk was a strength quirk. Then it had thrown her around pretty well.
The air shattered lights, blew some unsuspecting villains away, and even made her vines shake a little. She could hear Midoriya panting; his body was shaking a little through her vision. The heat sensor cut in and out rapidly as she gripped her scarf.
As the fog cleared, she groaned in annoyance and joy. She glanced over at Aizawa. The Nomu that was pumping him into the ground was gone. It was now connected to Midoriya’s fist.
She pulled her scarf back, slamming her hands down. Vines pulled around Tsu, Mienta, and Midoriya; they were slow. She was weak, tired, out of true practice, as was devolved from what she was once. Y/n had no idea if they would form in time, before Shigarki could grab them.
The doors above them slammed open. She tried to take a step forward as her vines shielded her classmates from the villains. She felt her ankle crack, and she was sent tumbling down. She coughed roughly as she pulled a shard of concrete out of her side. It was gagged on every side, coated fully in red.
She hadn't noticed all the blood around her.
Heavy clacking of dress shoes against the floor invaded Y/n’s ears. She knew those shoes; she bought them as a gift.
Uncle Might is here!
“Have no fear, students. I am here!” All might stood at the top of the staircase. Y/n sighed deeply as she sent a wave of vines to wrap around Aizawa’s body. He needed more healing tea. It wouldn't fix anything after he’d been pounded again. The potency would go down with her. Her chest ached with every breath; her chest felt all tight.
Y/n watched as All might three his coat away from his body. His steps echoed as he walked further into the USJ.
“I couldn't shake the feeling that something had gone wrong here when Aizawa and Thirteen didnt answer my calls. So I hurried over, running into Young Iida along the way. He told me of the villainy at work here.” Y/n let out a breath of relief as she lay on the ground.
She had barely saved anyone; she was supposed to be a weapon. the most well-versed in her class, and she hadn’t helped at all. She took out a few thugs, maybe, but when it really mattered, she was a failure. Shame covered her body.
She let that Nomu beat her and break her. Y/n deserved her punishments. How could she have let this happen? How could she forget all her training when she needed it most?
It was that name, that name that Shigarki called her by. It tore apart her soul, making her freeze and forget herself. The Underlings called her that all the time. She’d grown used to it.
they didnt know any better.
But this, Tomura Shigaraki did. he knew everything.
“Have no fear, students, because I am here!” She watched his furry bulge under his smile as he ripped off his tie. She had once needed to learn to tie one, so she bought that tie. She learned to tie one on All Might.
“He's here, All Might, and he's not smiling,” Midoirya mumbled. Her walls of vines remained, putting a little distance between these villains and her classmates. They were strong; her foliage was never weakened by her. Maybe because it was a direct link to an 𝔄𝔩𝔦𝔠𝔢, it never wavered.
She needed to get them away so All Might could fight without worrying for them. His true powers would be bottled till all those in danger were safe. Aizawa needed medical attention, and who knew how many others were hurt. Shoto, Y/n didnt want to think. She hoped he was fine if all the training she did with him worked.
“After all this waiting… the heroic piece of trash shows up,” Shigaraki grumbled. Y/n glared harshly up at him. How dare he say anything against him? All Might moved in a flash, and she cried out softly. Tears appeared on her skin as All Might pulled Aizawa out of her protective vines. As the vines tore, so did she.
She looked up at All Might, who held her dad in his arms. All Might cradled Aizawa the way Aizawa would hold her. His bloody face was on full display for her to see. his elbos was crackled with the muscles exposed. It was unnatural to view. In a way, Y/n wasnt/; she could do so much worse, had seen much worse, but this sight before her. It had pulled her heart out of her chest and given it a physical form.
Did Nomu do that to him? Or was that Shigaraki?
In an instant, more of her vines were ripped through as her body was pulled off the floor. She was gliding through the air, her body buzzing softly. Strong arms were wrapped around her as she hung. Thousands of tiny needles were prickling at her skin all at once.
Y/n felt the floor, it was whole, not broken yet. Aizawa was next to her, most likely unconscious. She tried to sit up, but her body was wracked with coughs. She pulled the mask from her face, tossing it towards the water. Finally, she could see through the glitching of her mask. All Might held a hand on her dad’s back gently.
“What the heck?” Mineta’s annoying voice rang out next to her.
“Everybody, back to the entrance and take Aizawa with you. He doesn't have much time.” Her heart knew the truth in All Might’s words. Y/n allowed the vines to wrap around her leg, allowing her to stand. Her body ached, she just wanted to take a nap, and worst of all, her stomach was cramping.
However, Y/n knew she wasn't nearly as injured as her dad. She was still up; she could still help. She could do something to help All Might, who was so obviously alone in this fight at the moment.
“Yes, sir!” Mineta gently began to grasp onto her dad's body with Tsu, hoisting Aizawa up.
“You saved us, All Might.” Y/n looked at Midoriya softly, something about the way he said that. Ahead of them, Shigaraki held his hands over his face.
Is he so ugly that he has to hide himself? I couldn't imagine hiding my pretty face from the world. I guess not everyone is as blessed as I am.
“It wasn't supposed to go this way. He’s still fast, Father. Somewhere, he managed to hit me. “ The way Shigaraki spoke sent a wave of disgust down Y/n’s spine. She watched him grip the ground for the spare hand and put it back on his face. She spoke as if some invisible force could hear his words, feel his malice.
“Of course, a government hero relies on violence, and I wasn't prepared. I couldn't even see him when he moved. but hes not as fast as I thought he would be. not as fast as he used to be.” The way Shiagarki rambled reminded Y/n of Midoriya. She doubted anyone but her could hear him.
He was so raved. so angry, so pitiful.
“All might you can! That brain villain took One For- I-I smashed him and didn’t break my arm this time, but he wasn’t fazed at all. He’s too strong,” Midoriya was right. Nomu was strong, some perverse strength that she couldn’t kick away. She had kicked All Might away once; where would that leave him?
“Young Mioriya, I got this!” All Might was miling.
“There's another one, but it's mostly knocked out, unless it can self-heal and get paralyzing poison out of its body,” Y/n told him as poped her teapop out of the air. The vines crawled out of her skin, forcing a wall between the villains and her friends. They needed to take her dad away. She could hear Aizawa’s heartbeat faintly in her head; it was much slower than she liked. He would need help. All Might needed help twice.
Y/n knew that something was off with All Might. He hadn’t been the same; she could feel him draining a little.
“Go, I’ll catch up in a minute,” Y/n stressed to Midoriya. The green-haired boy paused, his feet not moving.
“What? no! I can't leave you here, and look, you're already in bad shape.” She smiled brightly at him.
“I'm in bad shape because I forgot who I was for a second. I'm back now.” Midoriya didn’t move.
“My dad is gonna bleed to death on your shoulders, please take him, I’m right behind you.” He knew she was lying. Y/n was smiling too widely at him. Midoriya stared at Y/n, his face so full of an emotion Y/n didn’t know. It looked the same way Midoriya looked at All Might. It was peculiar for Y/n to have someone look at her like that. But Midoriya nodded his head once, helped pick up Aizawa fully, and left.
“You should go, Young Aizawa, this isn't safe.” All Might noted, glancing at her. The vines had fully enveloped her leg and parts of her torso.
“I’ll stay on the defense, keep them from leaving, plus you might need some help with Nomu.” Y/n glanced over at the other one. The mushrooms continued to grow out of its body, and vines forced it down.
All Might sighed deeply and nodded.
“Remain far away, do not fear.” Then he was gone. She watched as his body raced towards Shigaraki.
“Carolina smash!” Y/n watched as the Nomu ran in front of Shigaraki; she was going to wipe the smile off his crusty lips. All Might is going to beat the shit outta him. Y/n gasped a little as All Might ducked underneath the Nomu’s grip.
Her eyes wandered a little to Kurogiri; he felt so strange to her. grasped her card deck, shuffling the cards a little, she smiled softly and planted a few cards around him. Slamming her hands together, the cards grew rapidly, covering his warp from every angle.
“I wouldn’t try anything, touch one of those cards, and you’ll be stuck till I decide to release you.” Y/n watched as his shadows tried to move around her cards.
“What an interesting turn of events. Perhaps you do understand the capabilities of your quirk.” Kurogiri’s voice was so smooth.
“I wonder how you will pair against the Nomu, now that you've decided to join us on the board.”Y/n furrowed her brow as the shadow came over her. Vines exploded from her arm, stopping the Nomu’s fist from removing her head.
Her knees hit the ground violently as the concrete cracked. Mushrooms were being pulled out of their skin one by one. The spores were being warped away. She glanced back at the shadow man; that shouldn't be possible.
The only place where she didnt put a card was…
She watched as a warp gate appeared underneath him.
And he slipped through.
Oh fuck
……………………………….
Y/n’s head connected with the concrete for the third time. She could feel blood pouring out of her head. This was royally pissing her off. Vines were cutting through her skin as she produced them rapidly. She felt thick hands covering her, and then she was yanked away.
“I told you not to engage Young Aizawa.” Coughing, Y/n hit the ground. She watched as All Might wrapped his arms around the Nomu’s body, trying to slam him backwards. Her eyes darted close and Y/n covered her head.
When she looked up, All Might was half-buried in shadow. Y/n went to stand up. Her body was aching, but she wasn’t done. Instantly, a crushing weight made its way onto her back, and she felt rock enter her skin a little.
“What kind of cheap move was that?” All Might groaned. His Nomu was digging its claws into All Might’s sides. Blood was seeping into his white shirt.
“You were trying to bury him in the concrete so he couldn’t move around anymore. Sorry, that won’t work. Nomu’s as strong as you are. That won't stop him,” Shigaraki gloated. Y/n groaned as she felt her Nomu grip onto her and pull back. Her eyes glimmered in hues as SHigaraki got closer.
“Nice work, Kurogiri.”
“Tomure Shigaraki, be cautious.” Kurogiri voiced as Shigarki knelt before Y/n.
“No worries, she can't attack me right now, can you?” Her glare did not leave her face.
He can't know that, it’s not possible.
“You're currently using your powers to try and power up All Might, am I right?” She gasped in shock. Shigaraki looked over his shoulder at All Might and laughed. Softly, lights were covering him in a thin sheet. The Nomu crunched his fingers deeper into All Might.
Y/n felt her body jut forward into the concrete. She really hated this shade for yellow-orange right now.
“I’ll bet you're even healing his body at the same time, so my Nomu can't go any deeper?” She coughed as Shigaraki picked her head up by her hair. Her roots ached as Shigarki held her by four fingers. She needed to see his eyes.
“But you can't use more than one of those abilities at once? You can't make any vines, summon any teapots, or release a card.” She shivered. under his nails.
“H-How could you know that?” His lips curled up. His laughter filled the USJ cruelly.
“As I said, I know everything about you, Alice.” Her head fell forward. She couldn't stop now. All Might needed a recharge.
“We’ve got him just where we want him now.” Shigaraki’s words made a trickle of doubt cross her. The warp gates were changing. All Might let go of the Nomu’s body; she was halting. The Nomu was pushing deeper.
Her hands trembled as she continued to heal him, charge him. She needed to protect All Might so he could save the others.
“If this is your best, you picked the wrong place to attack. You should just give up now.” All Might was in pain; she could feel it. Her hands glowed against the ground.
“Slam her again,” she cried out as her body was fully lifted off the ground and thrown to the floor.
“Stop! You vile criminal, she is a child!” All Might roared. Her hands didnt stop glowing, she had to keep going. If All Might were gone, who would save them? Who would protect them? Y/n wasn’t a protector; she was selfish. Even now, she was selfish.
She had so much power that she could tear this Nomu apart if she wanted. But something was leeching off her power, and Y/n guessed it was the fear paralyzing her body.
“Kurogiri.”
“Normally, I wouldn't want blood and viscera flooding through the insides of my warp gates, but I’ll make an exception for a hero as great as you.” Y/n groaned softly.
She could stop charging All Might and send some vines to help. put a shield around him, send a mirror to transport him away, she could… she could sing.
If she did that, then the Nomu would surely crush All Might’s stomach in two. She had to choose now before the warp gates closed. She groaned as she tried to turn over; she needed to make it look right. She tried to resist the Nomu’s grip.
She turned till her head was facing the sky, her teeth grinding against one another. She had to time it perfectly.
“Since you're too fast to see with the human eye, Nomu had to restrain you.” Y/n counted down in her head. It would take her ten seconds to inhale and sing, that ment she had to let go of All Might for one second.
She just needed a single second, then she could help.
One single second.
“And once he's pulled your body halfway through, I'll squeeze the gate shut.”
One second. That's all Y/n needed. A second where Kurogiri wouldn't be paying attention. where she could do something, remember some kind of training.
“I'm going to enjoy tearing you to pieces.” Y/n glanced at her side. Midoriya was running towards her.
Bless his bleeding heart.
Closing her eyes, Y/n opened her mouth. Deep inhale. Midoriya jumped into the air, trying to reach towards All Might.
“How foolish.” One second was up.
The glow surrounding All Might disappeared as a powerful note rang through the USJ. The Nomu fell backwards, and an explosion went off above her. Vines wrapped around her body, pulling her upright. Her voice echoed across the area around her as she threw a card as her Nomu.
He roared as his body became a painted picture. She laughed as the card floated right into her hand. One single second was all she needed, where the Nomu was caught off guard, if only for one second.
There was ice all around her now. A thud rang out, and as she turned, their Bakugo had Kurogiri on the ground. Y/n rolled her shoulder gently. She spared a small glance; the skin was basically all torn off. It was an amazing shade of red. That would leave a new scar. Her body held aches all over. She was so tired.
Y/n raised her hands, allowing them to glow properly now. They raged like iridescent flames, fully coating her in their rage.
“One of your poorly trained thugs told me you’re here because you think you can kill All Might.” Y/n stared down at All Might, a blast coming off her hands. The ice shattered the Nomu’s arm, allowing All Might to go free. He jumped backwards next to her.
She snapped her fingers, her teapop dropping into her hands. It poured itself, mixing in cream and sugar to All Might’s liking. She didn't know how much it would help right now; she had no idea what she could really heal right now.
“Drink before you have to go again,” Y/n uttered, pushing the ridiculously small teacup into All Might's hands. Her body moved in front of his. Kirishima jumped down, trying to attack Shigaraki, who barely managed to dodge.
“Guess I found your body that time, you smoky bastard!” Bakugo yelled, holding Kurogiri down by his metal body.
“The Symbol of Peace will not be defeated by delinquents like you,” Shoto observed coldly. A smile found its way to Y/n’s face as she watched All Might gulp down all her tea. The group stared Shigaraki down. Y/n was itching to send a wave of vines to capture him.
But she couldn’t do that. She needed to chanal wonderlands energy into blasts right now. She needed to be able to move around, to attack freely from a distance now. With her teapot out, she would settle for shooting this scrawny thing.
The group formed around All Might, there eys trained on the villains in front of them. Y/n couldn’t help but glance at Kirishima and Bakugo. The way they held themselves with such confidence. She hadn’t been made to feel so small in a long time.
“Kurogirir, how could you let this brat get the best of you? You’ve gotten us into a real jam here.” Shigaraki complained. Y/n swore he complained like a little kid, more than she did. Y/n was spoiled as spoiled could be. Her complaining was practically legendary, but Shigaraki took the metal home.
“You got careless, you dumb villain. It wasn't hard to figure you out. Only certain parts of your turn into that smoking wrap gate. You used that mist to hide your actual body, as a kind of distraction. thinking that made you safe! That’s why we missed.” Bakugo got closer to Kurogiri’s face, and that devilish smirk was embedded on him.
She had to admit it was rather attractive how sure of himself Bakugo was.
“But if you didn't have a body, you wouldn’t be wearing this neck armor, right? You’re not immune to physical attacks if they’re well aimed.” Y/n watched in awe as small explosions emitted from his fingers. It sparked violently, just like Bakugo’s personality.
“Don’t move! You try anything funny, and I’ll blow your ass up right now, you got it? They’ll be cleaning you up for weeks.” The tenacity of his voice was so entrapping, in a different way. His voice made her want to stand and stare. She wondered if that was how people felt about her.
“Oh, that doesn't sound very heroic.” Kirishima voiced, looking down at Bakugo.
“Nomu.” Slowly, the monster began to disappear through the warp gate. Y/n lowered her stance a little, putting her weight on her back uninjured leg. The vines continued to move around the injured, pricking into her skin.
The Nomu crawled its way out of the double portal, the ice breaking off parts of its body. It growled, though Y/n couldn’t decide if it was manic or in pain. Its eyes rolled around till they were dead set on her. She felt the smallest shiver. Its eyes were mindless, she didnt know if she could use Allure on it.
You needed some type of sentience to feel the pull.
“How is that thing still moving. He’s all messed up.” Midoriya answered in awe.
“Stay back, everybody!” All Might reached his hand out; it seemed like he was trying to shield everyone. Muscles broke through the ice as the Nomu began to regrow itself. Y/n blinked softly. It had been a year since she saw any creature do that. Its arms and legs grew rapidly, flexing all at once.
“What is this? I thought you said his power was shock absorption.” Y/n looked up at All Might as his shadow stood above her. She looked down at the cards that were around her waist. The Nomu she captured was still there. It wasn't fighting against her.
It was alive but had no will of its own….
“I didn’t say that was his only QUirk.” Y/n tilted her head softly. She wondered if it could work. She watched his skin regrow rapidly; it was like he was never injured at all.
“he also has super-regeneration. Nomu has been modified to take you even at one hundred percent of your power.” Shigaraki declared with such frantic intensity. Y/n glances around at her classmates around her.
They seemed frozen in an odd state; she imagined it was fear.
“he’s basically a high-efficiency punching bag that hits back.” Y/n watched as all the boys raised their fists. Bakugo remained on the ground, his hand on Kurogiri. Bakugo would have to let go of the only way for them to escape to defend himself.
“First, we need to free our method of escape. Get him Nomu.” In a flash, she pushed off her back leg. Blinking once, her eyes began to glow, and an aura seemed to radiate off Y/n. It was her normal presence amplified.
She felt her body pushing against Bakugo, and her hands felt the sweat coating his warm skin. Y/n stared ahead at the Nomu whose fist was aimed at her chest.
The nominee met her eyes, and the world seemed to shift. The force in its punch was gone, but there was too much momentum for it not to injure her. vines crawled out of her skin, but Y/n knew better.
It was too late for that. to layte for her to attempt as savibg herself. This had to be an annoying way to die. She wouldn't get to say goodbye to Aizawa. Thank him for everything he ever did for her. She would never be able to tell Hizashi to just ask her dad out already.
It was all too late.
When Y/n dreamt of her death, it had been nothing like this.
She raised her arm, and the world was moving in slow motion. She felt her body get thrown back, her vines pushing back into her skin. The world was a haze as she stared at the Nomu. It was frozen in its stance, keeping eye contact with him.
Allure did work on it, which meant somewhere deep in its twisted mind existed a soul.
There were large muscles against her back at the moment, as her body continued flying back. When she was halted to a stop, there was dust everywhere, and Y/n was so tired. She left her body slumped as she briefly looked up.
Her vision was blurred, and the dust didnt help. But she knew she was being held. Then she saw those adorable yellow bolts on All Might’s head.
Faintly, she could hear him coughing up a storm over her own ears ringing.
“These are kids………. hold back?” All Might’s words cut in and out like static.
“I didn't….. choice. He…… threatin…. panion” Did Shigaraki ever stop talking? He sounded worse than she did when she didnt get her way.
“…..No angels. …. tried to kill me… “hero” … like that? ….. girl in your arms…” Y/n wanted to perk her head up. She didnt need to properly hear to know Shigaraki was talking about her.
“…. Squeeze the life outta me…… thorns and …….. my Nomu!” Y/n wanted to snicker, even if she could really hear what Shigaraki was saying.
“You think… away with….. violent as you want… sake of others.” Y/n coughs, lifting her head a little. her neck was deflated but swollen to shit. All Might growled above her. The world kept drifting further and further away from her.
something was pulling at her now that she was lost in thought. Every voice was yelling at her all at once. No one was there to help guide her through now. They all echoed all at once.
“… Symbol of Peace…… instrument of violence.” Y/n opened her eyes and let her head turn towards Shigaraki. She heard his breath stop, the way his entire body halted every moment. Y/n was still enchanting, through the blood and grim. Her face still held a beauty that seemed to pull anyone in.
The world was frozen for a few seconds, as she stared at Shigaraki. he had a soul too; he could acknowledge the pull towards her. People felt it all the time, but now, as she couldn’t stop it from coming out, it was her natural state that she would normally suppress.
“Violence always breeds more violence.” Shigaraki was stuttering, trying to fight the effect of her. It wafted around her surroundings as she tried to shake herself awake.
“None of that, Young Aizawa.” All Might’s words were clear to her heart as he cradled her neck softly. For a man so used to fighting, her held her tenderly.
“You’re nothing but a lunatic. criminals like you… You always try to make your actions sound noble. But admit it, you’re only doing it because you like it. Isn’t that right?” All Might was crystal clear. She heard him with every word spoken.
“DOn’t attack!” She could vaguely feel her body being moved. She was dropping into new arms, hardened arms. She could look up; that wasn’t safe. She could feel abs poking at her stomach. Kirishima was the only one who was shirtless.
Was he carrying her?
“Get out of here! Take Young Aizawa, she needs immediate medical attention.”
“You would’ve been in trouble earlier if it weren’t for me, remember? You need our help.” Shoto’s voice was so cold in that moment. Y/n wasn’t sure if she liked it.
“I thank you for your assistance, but this is different. Your friend needs your help now.” All Might paused. “It's gonna be all right.”
“Just sit back and watch a pro at work.” Y/n tried to speak, to tell All Might to come back. She didn't think about healing him or powering him up when she was still in his arms. How selfish was it of her to forget? How horrible she was, so focused on seeing a monster’s soul, she forgot how injured All Might really was.
She knew better than everyone here, except maybe Midoriya, that something was different about that boy.
“But you're too hurt. You're bleeding. And you're almost out of—“ So Midoriya did know. he really needed a lesson on keeping secrets.
“Nomu, Kurogiri, kill him. I’ll deal with the children.” Oh hell no. Y/n needed to wake up and pull herself together.
“Let’s clear this level and go home.” Shigaraki was moving; she could feel it in the ground.
“Heads up, we’re fightin’ after all.” She could feel Kirishima adjusting his grip on her. pulling her up higher.
“Planning on joining us in the land of the living, Y/n?” Shoto’s voice was curt as she mumbled. She could feel Kirishima tighten his grip on her.
“Hardly, wake up, Y/n.” Y/n knew what Shoto was trying to do. Y/n fought against her own eyelids, trying to push them open. When she finally did, she could see Shoto’s still lips. He was not happy with her that much, which was clear.
Air pushed at her body violently, and she felt Kirishima lowering himself to the ground. His body curled around hers, trying to keep the winds of her.
Of course, the second I open my eyes, a bunch os dust blows my way.
She could hear All Might fighting all around her. he was moving rapidly to attack.
Her hand blankly touched the ground; she was searching. Her vines weren’t tired yet. They sprang out of the ground, locking onto each of her classmates’ legs. They were firmly planted and surrounded so the winds couldn’t blow them away.
the world as a blast of grunting and whirling of wind. It was insane how much power was still in All Might’s body. Y/n hoped faintly that her power-up helped. that he was still standing because she tried her best to rapidly heal him all at once. But she was weak, so her power-up couldn’t have been much.
Gulit racked her.
“PLUS ULTRA!” She felt the ground crackle once All Might yelled. Her vines wrapped tighter around each person, hauling their floating bodies back down. The world was shaking all around her. It was like an earthquake.
“That was like the finishing move in a video game. He beat the shock absorption right out of him.” Y/n groaned softly as Kirishima moved off her. His body was hard as rock; it made for a nice shield.
“I've never seen that kind of brute strength!” Kirishima remained on one knee, keeping his hand on Y/n's shoulder. She opened her eyes, looking at the scene before her.
Her vines were still wrapped around everyone; they were starting to rip through their costumes.
“Imagine having power like that.” Bakugo wondered in awe. She watched as his eyes trailed down to her. She sniddled as she allowed all her vines to go away. They slithered off each boy like a mass of snakes. Bakugo looked away and back towards where All Might was.
“He must've been punching that monster so fast, he couldn't regenerate.”
That’s how much improvement I need to make to be able to use more than my full power.
She could finally hear the steam coming off his body. Y/n stared up at All Might, her slamed her hand down. Her eyes lit up as her energy began to pour out towards him. There was only so much she could give him.
Her body trembled as she let her head drop onto the ground. Curse this stupid concrete.
“Hey, whoa, wake up, Aizawa.” Y/n groaned as Kirishima went to lift her.
“Y/n,” she mumbled, trying to keep her body slumped down. It was easier to power all might up from her, where her energy could flow directly into him from his feet all the way through his entire body.
“Okay, Y/n, we needed you to stay awake.” She groaned again at him. She admired that he was trying to help, but she was trying to focus.
“You’ve been bested, villains. surrender.” Every word that elft All Might’s mouth had a hidden tremble. Y/n could feel it, how terrified he was of his secret being exposed. Maybe he shouldn’t have told Midoriyta then.
She felt Kirhsima trying to pull her from the ground.
Stop trying to be a caring classmate and let me lie on the ground!
“We all want to get this over with quickly.” SHigaraki was mumbling again. He never seemed to stop.
“What's wrong? Not attacking me? didnt you say you were going to clear this level earlier?” Y/n laighed agasnt the ground.
“This is hardly a time for jokes, Y/n,” Shoto mumbled codly. She couldn't stop giggling.
“Sorry, Sho, couldn't help it.” Y/n giggled growlingly. She felt ice wrap around her and pull her away. Her connection was lost, Y/n could only hope it was enough for All Might. She felt Shoto’s juxtaposed hands hold her now.
“You are impossible, along with being so irresponsible.” Y/n coughed and lay her head on his warm shoulder. She wanted to grab his hand and place it on her stomach. But she didnt think it was the right time.
“Well, come and get me if you dare.” Y’s eyes shot open. All might did not have enough power left in him to try and get these two into a fight.
“Hey, stop it, you're going to hurt yourself. quit squirming.” Y/n moaned in ahhoyance.
“Put me back on the ground. right now.”
Shoto did say a single word, but only held on tighter. He looked at the group, and she continued to hit his chest weakly.
“Man, this is intense.” Bakugo’s voice was so steady, like he hadn't just almost been killed.
“As I expected. There’s no reason for us to fight now. He’ll handle this.” No, All Might couldn’t handle this. She tried hitting Shoto harder, but they were just soft against his chest.
“Put me down!”
“Enough, Y/n, you're delirious!” Shoto voiced going to move away.
“Come on, Midoriya. We should regroup with the other guys. The last thing we wanna do is get taken hostage or get in his way. Plus, Y/n needs some serious medical attention; she’s probably concussed.” Kirishima voiced.
No, they were all wrong. They had no idea how much trouble All Might was in. Y/n could feel herself slipping in Shoto’s grip.
“Hey, extra! Give her to me.” Shoto’s struggling grip became ice cold.
“Excuse me?” Shoto’s no longer held anything other than stillness in his voice.
“You obviously can't handle her punches; hand her over. She's gonna get hurt even more if you don't get your grip on her!” She felt Bakugo’s hands gripping her back. She was still trying to reach out to All Might.
“I can't handle her perfectly well.”
“Can you weaken? She’s about to fall.” She felt her body being completely removed from Shoto, then she felt him grip onto her calves. She groaned in pain as she was held in the arms of both boys; they were tugging at her body.
“Whoa, no need to get rough with her, she’s gonna get hurt.” Kirishima voiced, rushing over to support Y/n’s back. She continued to look back. This was ridiculous.
“She’s falling because you're trying to pull her out of my arms.” Shoto contained.
“Let go, you damned nerd.”
All Might is bluffing, lying right in front of their eyes. he needed help right now. With whatever power was left in her body, she flipped over, and her body slammed down onto the concrete.
All the boys gasped all at once.
“Tomura Shigaraki, please, do not fret. Look at him. he has definitely weakened. Nomu’s attacks were successful. He’s on his own.” Her hand was shaking, and she reached out. The air in front of her was swirling in the colors of the rainbow.
“The children appear to be frozen in fear. And look, our underlings are recovering. We likely still have a few minutes before their reinforcements arrive. If you and I work together, we can do this.” Liar.
The teapot dropped into her open grip. She felt it begin to heat rapidly.
“We haven't missed our chance to kill All Might.” Kurogiri’s words seemed to strike Shigaraki.
“Yeah. Yeah, you're right. This is it. We have no choice. We have to do it now.” Y/n pushed her body up, her muscles screaming at her to stop.
Y/n could hear Aizawa’s voice in her head. She pulled her shaking arms up, the teapot seemed heavyier then noraml. She tipped the nose right towards him.
“I mean, the big end boss is right here.” Y/n looked at her side. Midorit-ya had his fists clenched. She knew what that meant. Then he was gone in a flash.
“Boom.” Light exploded from the nose of the teapot, aimed right underneath Midoriya. She could see his fist pulling back for a punch. His ball of sugar mixed with fire was launched right at Kurogiri’s neck. She could see Shigaraki’s hand pop towards Midoriya’s face.
Before she could blink, she dropped the teapot and grasped her blue scarf. It went forward, tightly wrapping against Miroriya’s red boot. There wasn't any strength left in her.
Instead, she left her leg crumpled, her arms holding tightly onto her scarf. Her body was pulled forward by Midoriy’s force, but ragged a little. In a flash, her fireball hit Shigaraki’s hand, just as a bullet rang through.
Her body slammed forward as she landed on Midoriya’s back. She whined softly as she slumped against him, her head was too heavy now. she feky Midoriy’as hands hold her head, gently guiding her to lie next to him.
“They're here!” All Might yelled.
“Took them long enough.” Y/n lurched as she curled against Midoriya.
“Sorry, everyone, I know we’re a bit late. But I got the teachers over here as fast as I could.” Nezu’s voice brought a smile to Y/n’s lips.
“Your class rep has returned. I've fulfilled my duty. and ive brought reinforcements.” Iida’s voice made her giggle. She felt Midoriya pull her slumped body closer to him. His arm was wrapped fully around her waist.
She stumbled over, her head really spinning now.
“Hey, don’t worry, the pros are all here.’ Midoriya mumbled to Y/n. It was a sweet idea, but all Y/n wanted right now was pain meds.
Hizashi’s cream echoed through the U.S.J she Y/n curled her head into Miroriyaa’s chest. She could feel his body heat up a little. His own shaking hands covered her bleeding ears.
“Our priority is to protect all of our students.” Y/n looked over Midoriya. Shigaraki was back up towards Kurogiri.
“Aw, man. The pros are here. It's game over. For real. Let's go home and try this when we can-“Gunshots exploded all around the pale man. Y/n blinked slowly now. There was nothing left for her to do now. As Thriteen began to pull him up.
She let all the tension leave her body; she allowed herself to go limp next to Midoriya.
Everything cut out, the world was completely quiet now.
"𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗷𝗼𝗯, 𝗸𝗶𝗱. 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂.”
……………………………..
It was dark all around her, an endless nothingness of shadows that fully encased her. Looking around, Y/n stepped through the shadows. Ahead of her was the pale, skinny man, Shigaraki. His body was bent and still bleeding on the floor.
Slowly, Y/n knelt and poked at his forehead. he was a sweaty, bloody mess, and she could help but sit on the floor. This had never happened before. She’d never been in such a state, never wandered through this realm before.
For her to be seeing Shigaraki, that she didn’t understand. His face was so contorted in pain. His face was so odd. This was odd.
“You lied, Father.” Y/n shivered softly. His voice held so much rage. Gently, she brushed the hair out of his face. His skin was dry, it was sad. he looked like her when she wasn’t with Aizawa.
“She wasn’t anything like you said she would be; she actually tried to kill me!” Y/n raised her brow at his words.
“Worry not so deeply, Tomura. She will reconnect with you. Give it some time.” The voice speaking has no physical form, or she would see it. She stared down at him; he looked so small.
Y/n threw herself up as she coughed violently. She could hear beeping all around her. Her eyes wandered around, and tubes were going through her arm. Y/n whined, grasping at the tubes. Her hands were shaking as she tried to dig them out of her skin.
“Wow, calm down there, cupcake.” She looked up and saw Hizashi’s worried eyes staring her down. Y/n blinked softly as her hands jutted around in the blonde’s grip.
“Where’s Papa?” Y/n rushed to pull the blanket off. This wasn't her room; this was a hospital. She hated hospitals; they were horrible. Fear clung to her as she looked around.
“Hey, it’s okay, Shota is just fine, and be so glad he’s not the first person you woke up to. I know he has an entire lecture ready for you.” Uncle Hizashi had never looked at her like that. Y/n’s lip trembled a little.
“You have no idea how worried I was for you both, not only Aizawa. He’s a hero; I expect him to rush into battle to protect you, kids. But you, Y/n, this was just dangerous.” Y/n pouted up at him. Hizashi sighed deeply, pulling her to his chest. He kissed the top of her head gently. She could feel his hands shaking gently.
“I’m sorry, I know I shouldn't yell at you. Aizawa will probably do that in five minutes when I take you to see him.” Y/n snuggled into Hizashi gently.
“I’m sorry, Uncle Zashi.” Y/n blinked up at him softly. Hizashi looked so tired. Y/n had never really seen him like this.
“I know you are, but you will be more sorry once you see your dad.” Y/n watched him pull away and grab the pole connected to her wrist. He offered his hand to her, and she gently let him guide her. Her bare feet hit the cold floor; her leg was all bandaged up.
“Your dad woke up a few hours ago, he rushed over to see you. he actually jumped over doctors to find your room.” Y/n perked up as she allowed Hizashi to lead her around the hospital. She hated hospitals.
“So he’s seen me?” She mumbled, gripping onto his arm tightly. Hizashi nodded his head solemnly.
“Look, umm, I know he’s got a big lecture for you. You are in a load of trouble, but just… try not to cry in front of him.” They both paused at a door. Y/n gently took her pole from him.
“Why?” Hizashi rubbed at the back of his neck. Slowly, the blonde took a knee in front of her.
“When he saw you… all bandaged, hooked up to all the machines,” He paused, “Y/n, he was sobbing over you.”
Y/n’s lip trembled at his words. She didn't like the idea of her dad crying over her.
“I know I shouldn't be saying this, but Shota did more than just save you. You saved him. Before you, Shota was lost; he was distant and afraid of letting anyone get close to him.” Hizashi looked at the door, as if he could see her father through it.
“You brought a light to his life that I thought he would never have again. His apartment was nothing when you came, and he got furniture and a real bed. His life was full of nothing till you came and brought laughter.” Y/n could feel tears falling down her face.
“You saved the life of one of the people I love most in this world. You saved him when I couldn't. When he saw you, in that state where if it wasn't for the heart monitor, he would've thought you were dead, I caught a glimpse of the lost version of him.”
“I don’t know if he’s gonna hug you or yell at you first.” Y/n nodded her head and pushed the door open. Y/n stood frozen in the still hospital room. It smelled nothing like him. Her dad was there, completely wrapped in bandages; his entire upper body was covered.
His eyes found hers through the small slits in the bandage. She didnt need to see his face to know he was upset. Her body was racked with tremors as her tears dripped down my face.
“You are in massive trouble, young lady. There are not enough words to describe how furious I am with you.” Aizawa’s sharp words pierced her ears. She didn't care as the cry escaped her lips. She wiped at her nose, and snot was already dripping down. She was on his bed in a flash of rainbow.
“HEY! Wait a second, don't use your quirk! I know you're exhausted!” He yelled, but Y/n couldn't stop crying. Y/n launched herself under his bandaged arms. She held on tightly to his waist as she cried. She felt like a little kid.
She hadn't realized how afraid she was till right now. She had almost died, and she had barely realized it. But hearing Shota’s scolding voice pulled her back. She felt her leg snap, felt her head get slammed against concrete.
So pale man knew about her haunting past and was even haunting her sleep now.
Shota’s bandaged arms were around her, gently encasing her. His body was warm as she cried, she didnt cry.
“Hey, hey, everything is okay. You're okay, I'm okay. " It's all gonna be alright,” his voice vibrated against her cheeks as she cried. His heartbeat was steady, and she could feel his breathing.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, Papa.” She felt him press his forehead against her.
“Look, you’re still in a shit load of trouble, you were incredibly reckless, but for right now. I’m glad you’re okay, petal.” She sniffled as she lay down with him.
“Can I stay here?” Shota let her lie down, her head in his lap. He wanted to run his fingers through her arm. He wanted to properly hold his daughter close. He could only sigh deeply and nod.
“You can always stay with me.” Y/n kept her arms around his waist. She never wanted to let go. She was afraid, in ways she never had been. She’d seen death before and talked with him, too. But this was different. This brush with death had no guarantee of resurrection.
She had always been indestructible, but right now, as she clung to her father.
She wondered just how immortal Wonderland really made her.

Gentle shaking was never something Zero had woken from. A soft, gentle movement of her body that pulled her from a true restful sleep, with strong hands pressing her body softly. Her eyes peered open quietly, sunlight peeking through the flannel curtains.
“Hey, there we go.” His voice was soft, and he pulled Zero to sit up. Her back was still pressed into his headboard as she blinked rapidly. He sat before her in different clothes now, black rough-looking pants, a soft green-blue sweater, and his hair wasn’t messy anymore.
“Come on, we gotta get up.” Slowly, he pulled her to her feet. The cold floor was familiar; it was like the labs. Steve gently sat her down next to a big brown box.
“My mom was supposed to bring this to the church months ago, but she never did. I’m sure we’ll find something you like.” Still, she stared at him. Steve sighed deeply, pulling out pieces of clothes. The sun shone right into her eyes, and she stood unblinking.
“Here, this is kinda pretty.” Steve pulled out a pelted skirt in baby blue, pink, and teal. Zero’s eyes ranked over the fabric. Her fingers ran over the soft material with an uneasy look.
She had never worn anything like this; these were like nothing she’d ever seen. It was colorful. It was pretty, a word Zero had never used before. It was like the word Pennywise would use to call her.
“Pretty.” Steve’s smile brightened as he threw the skirt onto his bed. he pulled through the box, finding a white pair of long socks. Steve stands up to his full height. Zero smiles. He was so much different than any other man Zero knew.
Papa was tall and lanky. The orderlies were always kind-looking till they pulled out their tasers. The guards were scary; they were always buff and muscular. No match for Pennywise, but scary when he wasn’t there. Scary in an odd way, in a way that wasn’t truly terrifying but an itch. An itch of fear. A fear that wasn’t real, but there.
“Shit, I forgot you need other things.” Steve placed his hands on his hips with a deep look on his face. He moves to his own drawers, digging through the top one. He pulls out a pair of shorts that aren’t really shorts. He throws them on the bed, and Steve pauses.
“Don’t move, stay right here, okay.” Zero watches him leave the room. She pulls at the lamp on the desk with a small, blank look—the light flickers on and off as it tunes into the light.
“He’s not here right now, Penny.” A soft jingle entered her ears.
“You can’t eat him, Penny. I like him,” the clown groaned in annoyance.
“I will drink the morrow from his bones if that opinion changes.” Zero shook her head with a smile.
“I like hair.” The clown shook his head, mirroring her perfectly.
“I hunger, girl.”
“I fed last night.” Pennywise raised a brow. He pokes at the center of her forehead.
“They were momentarily afraid, not truly afraid. They do not satisfy me as I prefer.” Zero rolls her eyes at him.
“I aim to hunt.” Zero tosses a white thingy with red stripes across its top at her Clown.
“You can't eat. I like his hair, look.” Zero went to bed, holding up the pretty skirt. “Pretty, for me.”
Pennywise closes its eyes, taking in a long, tired breath. Pennywise jutts his head around the room. Zero never cared for pretty before. She pulled at her hair, clean and perfect in a way it had never been before.
“It's pretty.”
“I need to eat, to truly eat.” Zero nods her head.
“More soldiers?” The clown groaned, flicking the small girl's forehead.
“They do not fear like I want. I need to, no, I crave fear. it-“
“Tastes the best.” Zero answered with a little jump. The clown stared down at the girl, at the skirt, at her hair.
“I will find you a to hunt, promise.” Zero held out her pinky; she didnt know why. It just felt right. It just felt like something natural. That it actually meant something. The clown nodded, licking her hand. Zero giggled as the small cut on her hand healed, a cut she didnt see before.
The clown brushed his hand across her forehead; the wound was gone now.
The outside wounds would always go away.
Then suddenly all the memories of the night before rushed back.
“Eleven?” There was a tremble in her voice. The clown took a deep inhale of the air—no fear, unease, yes.
“Safe, like I promised.” Zero tilted her head at him.
“Where?” IT laughed a little, its lips curling as the sound of Steve’s steps made its way to the room.
“Where Penny?” It was a firmer demand.
“Bye-bye, Y/n.” Then in a bright flash, he was gone.
“I found this, it's new, I think, and doesn't fit my mom.” As Steve entered his room, Zero stared into the corner. She could still hear his giggle, deep in her brain; it echoed.
“I also grabbed a pair of these pink shoes my mom never wears, she says they're ugly. But me personally, I think she hates wearing soft pinks. something about it classing with her hair, I don't really know.” Steve set the weird-looking things down; they shone softly and had a big bump on their backs.
Slowly, Zero poked the shorts that weren’t really shorts. They had a small hole right where the two pieces of cloth crossed. Steve set down a weird-looking top; it had two straps and cup-like fabric pieces, too.
“Here, let's get these on you.” Steve paused as he picked up the not shorts and the cup strappy thing.
“Okay, this one goes on your chest. It’s a bra, you know what a bra is, right?” he held up the strappy cup thing. Zero blinked once at him as he sighed. He motioned to pull up his shirt. She wanted him to pull up his shirt. His skin was warm.
With a glance away from his body, Zero pulled her shirt off. Steve quickly moved behind the girl in his clothes. His arms wrapped around her quietly. He guided her arms through the straps and clipped the weird thing at her back.
Her face formed a frown as she had never done before. This thing was stranger; there was some wire beneath it.
“You don’t like bras, do you?” Zero blinked at him like he was stupid. Steve nodded his head and patted her legs. She pulled the pants down; his eyes were closed. She didnt like that he always had his eyes closed when looking at her. No one had done that before.
“Bra?” Her voice was small, unsure as he helped her into a pair of his boxers.
“Umm, yeah, they cause around your… chest so that people don't see your junk? it’s like underwear but for your… boobies.” She giggled at his words openly.
Even though Penny had seen her body in full, it had happened a few times when he grew hungrier. Orderlies didnt always taste the best, but they were better than nothing. She grasped onto Steve’s shoulders; she liked his shoulders. They were like wide handles, easy to hold onto.
Each of her legs stepped through the fabric’s holes. His warm hands glided up her skin. The band around the not shorts hugs around her hips as Steve stands back up.
“Those are my new boxers. I haven’t worn them yet. So for now, you can wear them. We’ll work out some more girly underclothes for you later.” His hands were on her body again. pulling long white socks up to her calves. Then he dressed her in the pretty skirt and paused.
“Shit, I didnt think about a top for you, or like a belt. You definitely need a belt.” His words were quickened and soft. He walked around in a small circle. He threw his closet open harshly, Zero’s whole body flinching backwards at the sudden loud sound.
He was frantic, his face looked wrong as he moved through his closet. She watched his lip twitch so softly until it formed into a smirk.
“Oh, look at this!” His hands clutched around a teal sweater that matched parts of the pretty skirt. Without hesitation, he pulled it off the weird plastic thing. The sweater was comfortable and felt soft against her skin, softer than her old lab dress. These clothes were a lot better. Steve bent down and reached back into the bucket.
His hands wrapped around her waist as he placed a pink belt on her. Zero watched his face closely now. It was so… perfect. If she let Penny split him in half, her halves would perfectly line up. She wanted to reach her fingers up and trace down his nose, to feel the perfect little ridge at the top and the smoothness all the way down.
His eyes were some whole other part of him. They were their own kind of entity, that was certain. They were so dark in a way she didn’t understand. At night, she thought they were black, but now, under the soft morning light. The soft light revealed a soft, golden warmth waiting to be discovered.
Words were flowing out of his lips that didnt seem to penetrate Zero’s ears. Steve couldn’t have caused this trance-like state. Not Steve of all people, he didn’t seem to have any power in the world. There was just an odd thing about him.
“Are you listening to me, Zee?” She blinked at him softly.
“Zee?” Steve nodded his head with a small smile.
“You like it? I've been trying to think up a new name for you. Cause, like I can’t call you Zero in school,” Her brow raised with a small quirk.
“School?” Steve sighed, exasperated.
“Yes, I told you like five seconds ago. I have breakfast in the oven, and I’m taking you to school with me.” Zero blinked at him softly; one curl was falling in his face. She reached her hand up, gently pulling at the curl with a smile.
“Why?” Steve let out a small laugh as he pulled her fingers out of his hair.
“Cause i have school and I’m not leaving a random girl alone in my house. You don’t seem dangerous, but… You said there were bad men, right?” His eyes weren’t on her. They were dancing around the room. in every corner, in every shadow of the room.
Pennywise scared him; she knew that he could smell his fear. Steve’s fear must have smelled sweet, Zero wasn't sure. She couldn’t smell fear like Pennywise. She wasn’t the eater of worlds; she was just its avatar. It’s a hunter in the world of New Horrors.
“Yes, bad men.” Steve nodded his head.
“Yeah, one that's a creepy clown.”
“No! Not Penny, Penny good.” Steve laughed at her as he pulled her into his bathroom. She was sitting on the toilet seat where Steve had been the previous night. His fingers wrung through her hair, spraying water and some can with a brown lid and a lady on it.
“You’ve got a weird sense of good. I’m pretty sure a creepy clown is a bad guy,” Steve mumbled with small wire pins in his mouth. He twisted some hair till it was pulled out of her face in small twists.
“I've seen Nance do her hair like this all the time. It looks good on her, figured it would look nice on you too.” Zero perked up.
“Nance?” There was a small smile on her face. Her eyes were closed as she tried to imagine the girl. She didnt want to invade Steve’s mind; that might hurt if she wasn’t doing it correctly. She imagined a pretty girl, a pretty girl for pretty Steve. Maybe her hair was like Steve’s, with a soft curl or two.
“Yeah, you’ll meet her today, you’re going to love her. She’s like no girl I've ever dated,” He offered, his smile brighter.
“Your favorite girl?” Zero understood that. She was Pennywise’s favorite girl. She doubted that Steve needed a girl to help him feed, though.
Steve nodded his head, and he held up a toothbrush to Zero. Quickly, Zero took it; she knew this one; she was good with this. Steve raised a brow as he watched her brush her teeth.
“Sorta, but yeah, you’ve got the right idea.” Zero smiled up at him as she spit in the sink. He gently brushed a towel over her face. he hands found her own again, leading her down the stairs carefully.
The new room was different, with an indented counter and a white box. Zero watched Steve open a small door and pull out a sheet of bread lumps with blue dots.
“You like blueberry muffins?” Steve gently pulled each lump of bread out with a smile. He placed it in front of Zero as if it were some special thing, the solution to every problem.
With a small look, Zero picked up the muffin and took a large bite. The sweetness invaded her tongue quickly. The small bursts of sugar brought a smile to her lips.
“It's good, right?” She nodded her head at him. Zero watched his mouth as he bit into his own muffin. She decided right then and there that she liked blueberry muffins.
“Okay, so I figured we’d go to the front office, I do some charming little razzle dazzle, and get you placed in all my classes. the whole shabang.” Steve’s word choices were funny. They made her smile into her muffin.
“Okay.” Then he shared her smile.
“Okay.”
Zero had decided she liked cars. She really liked Steve’s “beamer’. She liked the way the seat vibrated as the engine came to life.
“I drive?” Her voice was small as she sat in the front with him. Steve chuckled and shook his head.
“Do you know how to drive?” He countered, spinning the wheel with one hand. She blinked at him, holding her muffin in her lap. In total, she ate two at his house and now one in the car.
“Yes.” He laughed again, but could he smell lies? He seemed to catch them easily.
“I could teach you, if you wanted me to.” Her head nodded quickly as she sat in the seat. Steve seemed to laugh a lot. Papa didn't always laugh at her, sometimes, but not this much.
“Finish your muffin, we’re almost at school.” She took another bite out of the muffin, a small smile on her face.
“A smile looks good on you,” Steve mumbled as he turned into a place with many others. She blinked rapidly at him; his words reminded her of Benny’s. He said he liked smiles.
Now he’s dead.
The smile left her face instantly.
She watched him pull the lever on the floor, and the car stopped. She ate the rest of her muffin quietly, and she watched him grab a few big books from the back. She watched him get out of the car and round the front.
He pulled her door open gently, helping Zero from the car. She didn’t like it when he let go of her hand; she wanted to keep it. If she could pull it off his body to keep, she would. But that would probably hurt, and she didn’t want that.
“Yo, Steve, you’re so early, it’s like you wanna be here.” Steve laughed differently this time, turning to the boy walking towards them. He wasn’t perfect like Steve; his hair wasn't as pretty. She liked the dots on his face; they were speckled across his face.
“No, no Tommy, I don’t want to be at this shit hole any more than you do,” Steve answered. The boy, Tommy, she figured, leaned against the beamer next to her. His voice was different now; it wasn’t as soft, but she still liked his voice, though. A redheaded girl, who was pretty, walked up next to him. Is she Nance?
In her mind, Nance was a really pretty girl, with a small nose and curls. This girl was pretty, just not in the way Zero imagined.
“Who’s this Steve? You replace Wheeler?” The girl’s voice wasn’t pretty. Zero didnt know what it was like. It was a higher pitch and a little annoyed. She watched Tommy place his arm over her shoulder, and she leaned into him. Definitely not Nance.
“What? No, Carol.” Steve stared, rubbing his temples.
“I’m Zee.” Carol raised a brow at the response.
“Zee?” She looked at Steve.
“Zoe, her name is Zoe, and she’s from outta town, she’s one of my parents friends kids,” Steve replied. Zoe, her name wasn't Zoe, but Steve said that he couldn't call her Zero.
Zoe was fine, she guessed.
“Right, and she’s here because?” Carol asked, and Zero looked at Tommy. His eyes were racking up and down her body. Those were eyes she knew.
“She’s staying with me for a little bit. I gotta get her into classes.” Tommy nodded his head at Steve.
“Why is she staring at me like that?” I kept my frown as Steve gently flicked at Tommy.
“Maybe cause your staring her down, come on. I gotta go to the office.” Zero followed behind Steve quietly, her skirt swooshing with every step.
“You don’t talk much, do you?” Tommy’s face was close to her as she moved. She blinked softly at him. She wasn't sure if she liked him. She might let Penny eat him.
“Man, leave her alone, she’s just a little shy.” Steve opened the door, and I watched both Tommy and Carol walk into the school. Genlty, Steve’s hands found the small of her back and led her into the school. There were kids around her age everywhere.
Every noise invaded her ears all at once, so many people were talking all at once. It wasn't anything she’d ever known, anything like this. People were staring at her from every different angle.
Her breath trembled as Steve got further away. She remained frozen there; the shadows seemed to close in on her. She didn't like this. There were too many eyes, too many people—all the noise.
So much noise.
If she closed her eyes, she was back in that cold white room, projecting every russian word across the room. The way Papa would sit in front of her, he would sit, a small smile on his face, proud of her. Till she made a mistake, and the orderlies would drag her away.
Her hands crept up to her ears as bodies passed her in the hallway. Everything was too much; all of this new world was too much.
If Zero hated it, she couldn’t imagine how Eleven was. Her little one is all alone in this loud world.
A hand grasped her arm, pulling her through the crowd.
“There you are, Steve was freakin out that you lost.” Tommy was gripping onto her arm, rather tightly. His face was turned forward as he pulled her.
“Gee, you look like you're about to cry. Are you a baby?” Zero blinked the tears away quickly.
“No?” Tommy scoffed, and the people in the hall moved out of his way. they didnt stop staring, though, not as his arm all but bruised hers.
“So you do speak. You look like one. getting lost like a little fuck’n kid,” he mumbled. She frowned at her remark; she wasn’t sure about Tommy. He wasn't like Steve; she liked Steve. His good smile, his good laugh, not the one he did around this Tommy.
Tommy was pulling her, Tommy was gripping her arm as the orderlies would.
But also not like the orderlies would. Tommuy was strange; he wasn’t Steve, but he wasn’t bad, bad. more like, Zero didnt know, but she didn’t pull away. She didnt call out to Penny like she thought she would.
“I got your mouse, Steve!” Tommy’s voice echoed across the hall. Steve appeared again. he was standing by some glass doors. His face changed immediately. There was another redhead girl with Carol and Steve. was that nance?
“Shit, Zee!” Steve moved, taking her out of Tommy’s grip.
“What part of stay by my side did you not get?” Zero frowned softly; he wasn’t happy. She didn't like that.
“M’sorry.” Steve sighed deeply and turned back to his friends.
“Thanks, Tommy.” Tommy nodded his head, his arm back around Carol.
“So this is the new girlfriend?” Steve groaned loudly and turned around.
“No, how many times do I gotta say that?” Steve voiced loudly enough that a few heads turned toward them. Zero didnt like that at all.
“Just asking, Steve, you’ve been known to go through girls,” the other redhead muzzed.
“Bitter much, Nicole?” Carol’s words sent a glare onto the other girl's face. nicole? Not Nance, that was good.
“Not hardly, Steve knows I’m here when he’s done playing with little Miss Goodie Girl, and this mouse.” Nicole was bitter; she sounded like someone who just had a bunch of medicine she didn’t like.
“Would you all quit? I need to get Zer- Zoe’s class schedules. I’ll see you next period.” Steve grasped onto Zero’s hand, pulling her through the glass doors. There was a long desk with ladies behind it.
“Hey, Ms. Burner, great morning, isn’t it?” The older lady looked up at Steve, annoyed.
“Mr. Harrington, I’ve already told you, I cannot switch you outta albegrba two, it’s a core class.” Steve laughed at her softly.
“You’re so funny, Ms. Burner. I’m actually here to get my friend her schedule.” The blonde lady finally looked over at Steve, her fsve scrucned up. Her eyes were the shades of the trees outside, dark trees.
“And who is this?”
“Zoe Halne…?” Steve fumbled slightly. Ms. Burner raised her brow in annoyance.
“Zoe Halne? I don't have her on file.” Steve was bouncing his foot gently in a way that wasn’t calm or easy.
“My father called the school, her parents are out of town for a while. shes going to be staying with us, you see, you know my parents are so generous to them.” Steve mumbled with a smile. Zero didnt understand what he was doing; he was gently playing with one of the pencils on the table.
Ms. Burner smiled at Steve a little bit oddly.
“Steve, there is nothing on file about her. I’m sorry.” Steve nodded softly.
“No, I’ll be totally fine, Ms. Burner, really. I’m just going to take her home. Can you call my father? He’s out of town on a conference, and you know, tell him I’ll be missing school today.” Steve turned around, gently guiding Zero’s shoulders. he held that odd smile on his face, and she watched as the glass door got closer.
“Wait! Mr. Harrington, there is no need for that. I can print her a schedule right now. She’ll sit in on most of your classes with you.” Steve chuckled softly to himself as he turned around. His smile was bright, all his snow teeth on display.
“You have no idea how much you just made my day, Ms. Burner.”
Class was odd, Zero found it something she didn’t like. It was like her tests with Papa. She didn't know this Algebra II, she didn’t know this Macbeth, and why it was so important.
She most definitely hadn't seen Nancy yet; that was most annoying. Nancy wanted to see this special girl. It had only been three classes, maybe Nancy was hiding. Maybe Steve wanted her to find Nancy the way she’d find Russian spies.
Tommy was by her side, Carol on his left. Those two never stopped talking, random or not, they never stopped talking.
Zero looked at Steve’s back. He was walking towards two girls. They were talking. reading off white flashcards. The red-haired girl was taller, wearing an odd pink shirt with ruffled trim at the top and tanned pants. The girl next to her…. she was perfect.
Her hair was in soft curls, pulled away from her face. a purple sweater with a pink bow around her neck, paired with black pants. She spoke softly with a smile. Zero likes this purple sweater, girl. She was very pretty.
Steve marched past them, taking the flashcard out of the redhead’s hands. She followed next to Steve, leaning into the tan walls with ocks.
“I don’t know, I think you’ve studied enough, Nance.” Zero blinked. Nance, Nance was Nancy. The purple girl was Nancy. She stared at her quietly; this pretty girl was Nancy. It only made sense that she was Nancy.
Tommy walked over to her side, leaning against the locker behind her. His presence was odd; so far, he’d clung to Carol. But Tommy liked to hover over Steve.
“Steve,” Nancy began softly, her sky eyes moved around before peering up. Zero stared into Nancy’s eyes, the way they bounced around uneasily.
“I’m telling you, you know, you got this. “ Don’t worry,” he juddered the flashcards in his hands a little. Zero peered over his shoulder, staring at them. The words didnt seem to connect.
“Now, on to more important matters, my dad has left town on a conference, and my mom’s gone with him.” He handed the cards over to Zero. She looked at them for a second. She couldn’t read them. She didn’t know any of these words.
She could read sometimes, anything Penny or Papa or… or the blurred figure in her brain taught her. These words she couldn’t read. She held out the cards to the red-haired girl.
She could practically feel the insecurity waving off her. It was its own kind of scent, Penny told her. Like Joy or beauty, Penny didnt like the way those things smelled. He preferred all the bad things: fear, jealousy, rage. He liked those smells.
Zero wondered sometimes if they smelled as good as Pennywise made them seem. The redhead took the flashcards from her hands, harshly pulling them away. Zero frown, was it her face? Maybe it was the face. She didn't look pretty enough, Steve was nice, and he was pretty. That could be what the issue was.
Tommy bristles at her side. The redhead looked down. Zero looked at Tommy, and Tommy looked at her. His face told a different story from his mind. His mind was closed in a way that he didn't get. He wasn't Steve, but he wasn’t an orderlie. Tommy was just Tommy.
“Hey, chill, Barb.” Tommy sneered quietly at the redhead. Zero looked at him softly. This world was odd. Tommy’s body shifted a little, away from Carol and between Zero and Barb.
“Cause, you know, she doesn't trust him.” Steve continued. His mom didn’t trust his dad. Zero looked at Steve, hoping for a clue, but his gaze was firmly planted on Nancy. Zero decided that she, too, would look at Nancy.
Nancy was Steve’s special girl; she was important.
“Good call.” Tommy smiled; the boys shared a look. Zero didnt look away from Nancy; Nancy stared at Zero all the same. Her brow was quirked in a way Zero didnt understand. She supposed she didnt understand much of anything now.
“So are you in?” Steve’s face was lit up.
“In for what?” Nancy asked, her brows coming together. Zero realized Nancy was smart; she had the same question. Zero then looked up at Steve.
Steve looked down briefly at Zero; his eyes were different again. His eyes never stayed the same. The Nancy and Zero eyes looked similar but not the same. Nancy’s eyes held a note of something Zero didn't understand. But Steve’s Zero eyes held an edge to them that his Nancy eyes didn’t.
“No parents? Big house?” Carol's voice, though Zero wished she hadn’t. Nancy looked back at Steve.
“A party?” Nancy’s voice held a question in it. A party
What was a party?
“Ding, ding, ding.” Carolmvoiced with a smirk. A glare from Zero, a senr, that Nancy caught. Her eyes followed zero. Tommy laughed a little.
“It’s Tuesday..?”
“It’s Tuesday, oh my god,” Tommy laughed openly, and Steve slightly jabbed at him. Y/n frowned deeply at Tommy’s mocking laugh.
“It’ll be lowkey. It’ll just be us. What do you say? Are you in or out?”
“Um,” Nancy paused.
“oh god, look.” Zero turned away from Nancy and stared at the boy. The depressed-looking boy.
“oh god, that’s depressing.” Steve’s tone was different. Was this King Steve? Had he been acting like King Steve?
“Should we say something?” Nancy asked gently. Zero looked at the poster and froze. The boy was pinning a poster of himself to the paper. Zero took a step back, and she bumped into Tommy. Carol glared at her; that look was enough to tell that she was jealous. Tommy’s hand found the small of her back.
He wasn't pushing her away. Her gut was frozen, and her heart fell. She knew that little boy on the poster.
“I don't think he speaks.” Carol’s eyes looked over Nancy. Zero didnt move; she stayed frozen in Tommy's space.
“How much you wanna bet he killed him?” Tommy’s voice with a laugh. Steve gently shoved Tommy; his hand fell from Zero’s back.
“Shut up.” Steve’s eyes were on her, but Zero could move. She knew that little boy, with those terrified eyes and quivering lip. She stood frozen as Nancy moved over to the boy. She didn't need to smell him to know he was sad.
She could practically see Pennywise’s name written all over this. She knew better, though. She knew.
Tommy waved mockingly at the boy as Nancy looked back. Steve looked down at Zero. She had moved in a few minutes. Her back was firmly placed close to Tommy’s chest.
The bell rang, and Zero’s hands flew to her ears. Steve looked down at her softly.
“Hey, Zee, it's fine. It’s just a bell.” She didn’t like this bell. She let Steve pull her hands from her ears. Tommy wasn’t laughing like he normally would. Tommy was quiet. Barb was staring at her; she didn’t like that. She was staring at her and Steve’s hands. Was that wrong?
Tommy put his hands on Zero’s shoulder and shook her gently.
“Come on, nutcase, we have to get you to your class.” nutcase? Steve’s eyes looked down at Tommy differently now.
“Don't call her that?” Tommy rolled his eyes and pulled away. His arm was around Carol with a bright smile on his face.
“Come on, let’s get you to French.” Zero’s ears perk up. French? Was she going to French?
“Nope, she doesn't have French this period. She has it next period.” Carolo voiced, holding onto the white paper. Steve whipped around like he’d been shot.
“What? No, she has French with me.” Carol shook her head with a smirk.
“Can’t you read Harrington? It says chemistry.” Carol held up the paper. Steve’s face was furrowed. His face was all upset, like the blueberries were sour.
“Is everything okay, Steve?” Nancy’s soft voice was back in the air. Zero looked back at Nancy. Nancy wasn't like Carol.
“Hi.” Nancy quirked a brow at Zero.
“Hey?” Steve groaned loudly.
“Zee doesn’t have French with me like she’s supposed to. She has chemistry right now.” Nancy nodded.
“Zee?” Zero froze. Nancy did not like her new name.
“Yeah, it’s short for Zoe. She’s a family friend who’s staying with me. I'm supposed to take care of her.” Nancy studied Zero’s face.
“We could take her, she’s in our class.” Steve smiled happily. He pulled at Nancy’s hips and pressed his lips into hers. She didn't know what that was. Why are lips on her?
“Thank you so much! God, you’re a lifesaver, Nance!” Nance saved lives? Nancy saved her life? Was it the mouth thingy? Steve snatched the schedule from Carol with a smile. He handed it to her eagerly.
“Okay, Zoe, this is Nancy, and Nancy, this is Zoe.” Steve smiled as Tommy began to pull him towards French class. Zoe stood there with Barb and Nancy in quiet silence.
“Okay, so you have chemistry with us, then social studies with none of us. But our next class is right next to it, so we’ll be able to take you. Then we can drop you off at the gym for Steve’s last class and then his practice.” Zero nodded at Nancy as if she were a general.
Barb was next to Nancy’s shoulder, tightly. Zero trailed behind the two girls, looking all over.
“You’ve never been to a normal school before?” Nancy asked softly, slowing her steps so that Zero could catch up to them. Zero found her spot on Nancy’s other shoulder, shaking her head gently. Nancy smiled softly at her.
“It’s not so bad, you were homeschooled, I imagine?” Zero furrowed her brows. Homeschooled? She didn't know what that meant. This was school, how could you do it at home?
“Yes, homeschooled.” Barb shot a look towards Nancy as they walked into the class. There were more rows of desks; she didnt like them. This place looks just like the lab. It was so similar. Bard took the empty desk next to Nancy; the one in front of her was empty. Nancy gently took Zero’s shoulders and sat her down.
The man at the front, the teacher, as Steve told her, was passing out big packets of paper. He was talking and hadn’t acknowledged her at all. As the girl in front of her desk turned around, it was another pretty girl. There seemed to be a lot of pretty girls in Hawkins.
She had slightly curled red hair, a big smile, and the outfit the other girls were wearing.
“Hey, you’re that new girl who’s hanging out with Steve. I’m Chrissy.” That girl put the paper packets in her desk and held out a hand. Zero blinked and took her hand.
“Hi.” Chrissy’s smile stayed on her face. It was different from Steve’s or Nancy’s. She was big, much wider, and it was full of joy.
“Hey Chrissy, would you pass me the papers? I doubt Zoe has to take the test.” Chrissy nodded and passed the packets back to Nancy. Chrissy smiled gently as Zero as she turned around. She watched as everyone else flipped through the packets.
Those packets were odd; everyone seemed so tense. Test, this could be a test. There were no wires, no people to search for in the mind, no papa—just a man at the front of the desks at his own desk.
This test was odd in itself.
Parties were odd to Zero; she was sitting at the bottom of Steve’s pool. Her legs were crossed as she stared down at the water. Her face reflected in her, it didnt feel like her. She didn't like the water. It was like her tank, but not her tank at the same time.
The tank wasn't safe.
She would drown in the tank without the mask.
Zero turned as Carol began to scream. She sent Tommy to stand up; he wouldn’t hurt Carol. Carol was Tommy’s special girl. That’s what Steve said at the very least. Then she stopped and hit him with the edge.
Confsed Zero turned her head to Steve, who was stabbing his can. She raised her brow. Patries were odd.
She watched him put the hole to his mouth and drink. He drank it rather quickly. He let out a long groan as he sat in his chair. Zero wanted to sit by him.
Tommy oddly sat by her side, holding out a lit roll of wite paper. She watched Steve hand Nance the knife.
“Okay, party girl. Why don’t you show us how it’s done, then?” Steve amused. Zero turned to Tommy.
“I don't understand.” She mumbled quietly as Nance took the can and stood up.
“It’s called shotgunning, mouse.” Tommy laughed, pulling her to stand upright. Zero nodded a little as she went by Steve’s side. Shotgunning, it was odd. She’d never done it before.
“Chug Chug Chug Chug!” Zero furrowed her brows at Steve as he chanted. She didn’t understand. What was chugging? Nance drank down the whole bottle, and Zero watched her throw it down.
“Whoop! Now let's see the mouse try!” Tommy held out a can. Steve’s face changed a little.
“Wait, um, I don't think that’s a good idea.” Steve began, but Tommy laughed.
“Worried, Steve Boy?” Nancy gently handed Zero the knife. Zero looked at Nancy quietly.
“I don't understand.” Nancy smiled at her.
“You’re just gonna make a hole and drink, it’s not hard, I promise.” Nancy smiled. Zero blinked a few times.
“Promise?” She never understood that word. Hearing Steve sigh, she looked at him too. His hands were on his hips, then one found Nancy’s waist as she sat next to him. Something about this was odd.
Zero stabbed the can and brought it to her lips. The taste grossly invaded her mouth as she drank. It wasn’t hard, Nancy was right. The can was finished in seconds, and she dropped it like Tommy had done his own. The group laughed, well, Tommy and Carol laughed.
“Your mouse just beat your record, I think, Steve!” Tommy was loud. Zero licked her lips; some of the drink was dripping. She didnt know what it was; it tasted bitter.
“What was that?” Zero asked, sitting on the floor between Nancy and Steve. Steve blinked at her, his own mind forgetting how he found her.
“Beer, you know, alcohol.” Nancy offered, her own tone confused. Zero nodded. Alcohol was odd, too. Nancy sighed. Zero could feel a sense of insecurity in the air. She only had to look at Barb to feel it.
Barb had Papa’s face, one of disappointment. Zero didnt like it at all. Pennywise could have Barb. She looked to the woods, hoping to find him standing there.
He wasn't there, but someone else was. She stood up, walking to the edge of the pool.
“Barb, you wanna try?” Nancy asked with a smile. Nancy was kind.
“What? no. No, I don't want to. Thanks.” Barb stated as she remained in her chair. Zero’s eyes remained focused on the woods. She knew that boy.
“Come on..” Nancy giggled.
“Come on, yeah.” Steve encouraged.
“Nance, I don't want to,” Barb affirmed.
That was the boy handing the posters. The posters…
“It's fun! just give it a- “
“Nancy!”
“Jusr… just give it a shot.” He held a camera in his hands. Zero blinked; he could see her staring at him.
“Here.” Zero turned to See toomy, offering her the lit-up paper.
“What's that?” she asked gently as Barb stood up. Carol laughed at her as Tommy placed it in Zero’s hands.
“A cigarette, what else does it look like?” Carol giggled.
“You’ve never used one before?” Tommy asked, his face full of disbelief. Zero shook her head. Tommy stepped away from Crol. She grumbled at him. Tommy placed the cigarette between her fingers.
He maneuvered her hand till it was inches from her face.
“Put it in your mouth and breathe in, hold, then breathe out.” Zero stared up at him. She mapped out all his dots on his face. they didnt seem to connect.
“Why?” She asked, and Tommy laughed. Tommy liked to laugh.
“cause it feels good.” Zero brought it to her lips and did as she was told. Tommy’s eyes never left her as she inhaled, held, and let out.
Her mind was blank; it was just so light all of a sudden. worry ceased to exist in her head. She stared up at Tommy, who smirked down at her. She liked that feeling a lot.
Then it was over, and the smell of blood rushed through the air. Zero’s eyes snapped over to Barb, who clung to her wrist. She was bleeding. surley penny would smell that.
“gnarly.” Tommy amused. Zero didnt blink; she just stared at the crimson in Barb's hand.
“Are you okay?” Nancy worried as she stepped close.
“Yeah.”
“Barb, you're bleeding.” Nancy continued trying to reach for her girl.
“I'm fine. Where’s your bathroom?” Barb asked Steve, but Steve’s eyes were on Barb, though. He was staring at Zero, the cigarette in between her fingers. the way her eyes trailed on the blood. His eyes snapped to Barb as he stood up.
“Oh, it's… It’s down past the kitchen to the left.” Steve stood hazily. He walked towards Zero, pulling the cigarette from her fingers. He pushed it back into Tommy’s hands. Carol laughed as Barb walked away. Tommy brought the cigarette to his lips.
Then he pushed Carol into the pool. Zero gasped softly, bouncing back a little.
“Oh my god! What the hell, Tommy!” Carol yelled, surfacing. Zero didnt like that. Why would he do that to his favorite girl? Penny never did that to her. he could see that there were no pits of water in the lab—only the tank.
Then Tommy dove headfirst into the water, cigarette still in his mouth. Then Nancy screamed as Steve pushed her in, and he followed. Zero watched as they pushed the water around in confusion. They threw each other around. They kissed. It didn't make much sense.
Then a hand caressed around her foot.
The sky flipped, and the world went blue.
She didn't scream as the warm water soaked around her. It hit her ears with a thick, heavy roar like how the tank would seal over her head. She threw her eyes open, but it didnt matter.
The bodies above and around her looked like shards of glass. She flailed around as she tried to surface. Zero didnt like this, the way her body wasn’t moving in the way she liked. There was no mask to give her air as she sank. No pap watching, ready to pull her out.
Zero opened her mouth to scream, but water rushed instead. It seared down her throat, warm and cold at the same time. Her chest burned as she tried to swim.
She was in the tank; she was back in the tank. Her heart hammered against her ribs, too loud. The old memory crashed over the new water, the white coats behind the glass, how Papa would smile proudly at her as it turned dark.
Her hair floated around her, almost curling to hug her.
She thought of Leven now. her little one, how she felt in her own tank. Such a small body in a big tank. Oddly, she never drowned. If she hated this tank, she wondered how much more afraid Eleven was. That was a fear that stuck.
Pennywise wasn't reaching for her now.
He hadn't pulled her up and out. She could see him standing above her, looking like a shattered mirror.
Hands were around her. Zero lurched as she coughed up the water. water shot from her mouth, her nose, everything burned. She reached for anything solid, hoping she would feel the ruffle of Pennywise’s sleeve. Instead, she found the solid, rough concrete.
“Hey, hey, it's okay! You’re okay.” Steve’s hands gently rubbed down Zero’s back as she coughed. One of his arms was around her middle, holding her to the edge of the pool.
Nancy was at her side, keeping her on the edge. her hands on Zero’s shoulders.
“What the hell, Tommy!” Steve shouted as he turned towards him. Tommy laughed differently now. He wasn’t laughing like he used to. Zero didnt look at him. She stared down at the water running down the length of her arms. It clung to her.
The surface was calm once more, flat like nothing had happened. like the tank when she stopped resisting.
“Come here, let’s get you outta the water,” Nancy mumbled, helping Steve pull Zero’s trembling body out. Zero didn't know why, but she clung to Nancy. Nancy wasn't warm; she was cold and wet, too.
Zero didnt care.
“Man, I didn't know she couldn’t swim,” Tommy mumbled, pulling Carol from the water. Steve jogged over, tossing towels at them. He knelt before the two girls.
“Well, maybe don’t pull someone into the pool that you don’t know!” Steve snapped, helping Zero to stand. He was wet and warm as he guided her into the house. The house itself was warm, but Zero’s body was cold.
“I’m freezing.” Carol jutted as she wrapped herself in her towel. Steve pulled an extra towel around Zero’s hair. He quickly moved the towel through her wet hair. The soft fabric quickly absorbed the water.
“Hm.. well, I hear his mom’s room has a fireplace.” Tommy amused. Steve looked up from where he dried Zero’s hair.
“Are you kidding?” Steve watched as the pair walked away. “Okay, well, you know you are cleaning the sheets.”
Steve pulled away from Zero, moving to Nancy’s side. His hands traced up and down her sides. He held her so softly. softer than how Tommy held Carol. His Nancy eyes were out now.
“You all right?” Steve asked her gently.
“Yeah.” Steve smiled softly, pulling away.
“Come on, let’s get you both some dry clothes.” Zero followed Steve; she paused, waiting till Nancy followed her. She climbed up the stairs ahead of the pair with a smile. She wanted more plaid pants and big shirts. She was at Steve’s door when she looked back.
“Nancy.” Zero paused at the door as Steve walked in. he seemed not to notice Nancy was left behind. How could he not notice his favorite girl was gone? Zero turned around and went back down the stairs.
“Why don't you go ahead and go home. I’ll… I’ll get a ride home or something.” Nancy was pulling the towel around her body. She was cold, oddly. Zero didn’t like that.
“nance…”
“Barb... I’m fine.” Zero crept down the steps till she was right next to Nancy. She leaned onto the railing softly. Zero wondered if Penny had started to haunt Barb yet.
“This isn't you.” Why wasn’t this her? Zero didn't understand what was wrong. Granted, Zero didnt understand much.
“I’m fine. … go ahead and go home, okay.” Zero turned, going back up the stairs. There was a sad quiet in the air now. Barb was defeated, maybe Pennywise didnt need to haunt her at all.
Steve waited in his room, clutching some clothes.
“Here, Zee, these are for you. Remember where the bathroom was.” She nodded her head.
“Good, go get changed into these, you’ll be much warmer. You can stay in the guestroom, on the couch, or really anywhere you want. I’d stay away from my mom’s room, though.” Steve smiled down at her softly. Zero held his gaze; she missed staring at his eyes. She wasn't always able to catch them now that Nance was there.
Zero didnt mind, though; if she could stare at Steve, she would stare at Nancy. Nancy was pretty, Nancy was perfect.
“Okay.” Steve’s smile faltered if only for a moment.
“I’m sorry about Tommy and the pool earlier… are you sure you're okay?” Zero nodded as she walked past Nacny.
“Bye-bye, Nance.” Y/n changed quickly in the bathroom, staring at her reflection. It was not pretty. Her eyes were bloodshot from the water. The tank never did that to her before. She hated the feeling of it, how she couldn't breathe.
The floor was cold against her feet as she walked the length of the house. Noise was coming from the room where Carol and Tommy were. Odd noises, this night was just odd.
Zero found herself back outside. There it was, a red balloon. eyes, so many eyes were upon her. They watched her as she walked towards Barb. She was marked for death, Zero supposed.
“Are you sad?” Zero whispered. Barb looked up at her. Her feet were dangling in the water. The air was different now. Zero smiled now. Penny was watching them. Zero just needed to read the meal.
“Sad? Are you kidding me? That’s what you’re asking.” Barb’s words bounced around in Zero’s head. What did she say wrong?
“Are you not sad?” Barb’s face was sad. It was all muted and fallen; there was no joy in her eyes.
“I’m upset, angry maybe, but not sad.” Zero blinked. What was the difference between sad and upset? This wasn't how it was supposed to go. Normally, Zero could just watch as Pennywise ate his victims… this wasn’t that.
Slowly, Zero sat by the girl's side, her knees brought close to her chest.
“Why?” Barb blinked at her and then laughed, not a Tommy or Nancy laugh. She laughed with a tiny smile. Barb had good teeth. If Zero could do the cooking, Steve did, she would boil them for Pennywise.
“Cause this isn't who Nancy is. She shouldn't have to change for some loser boy who was only in it to get into her pants.”
“Her pants?” Barb now looked confused at Zero felt.
“Sex, you know, in her pants.” Barb offered.
“Oh.” Zero now stared at Barb. There was something different. She wasn't sure if she wanted Pennywise to have her now. Sure, she was still odd, but not mean-odd.
The eyes never left her, so Zero just sighed and stood. Faintly, she heard a click; it wasn't from the eyes. She turned and saw the boy from school. He saw her too.
Her head tilted to the side as she watched him, watching her.
“I’m sorry, Barb.” Zero mumbnled.
“You didn't do anything wrong… sorry for snapping at you earlier.” Barb didnt understand her sorry. She’d never said sorry to a meal before. Barb got a warning before she was mean.
just annoying at times, so she could be a meal.
Zero turned away, walking back to the house. She wanted to go on the couch, the one with fuzzy pillows. Zero hoped Carol would be quiet now; she didnt like her voice at all.
a scream echoed across the backyard, briefly. All the lights went out.
Zero spun on her heel, and Barb was gone. The eyes remained, though. She stared in confusion; Barb was gone.
“Penny?” Her voice was timid as she poked at the pool water. It was still.
“You promised she could be mine.” Zero turned at the anger in his voice. She blinked at him.
“You didn't take her?” His bells jiggled as his head shook.
“It took my meal, girl; she was meant for me!” Zero frowned and shook his head.
“Then I’ll find you someone new!” Zero smiled; Pennywise did not. His red lips remained straight and firm. Zero hugged around his pristine clone outfit.
“I’ll get you a good snack, promise.”
Zero smiled at Nancy as she came down the stairs. Her hair was still wet, and there was an odd look on her face. Was she upset? Or was she sad?
“Where are you going?” Nancy jumped at the gentle question. Zero frowned. She didn't want to scare Nancy.
“I have to go home, my mom’s probably worried about where I am.” Nancy offered a smile, pushing on her face. Zero stood up from the fluffy couch; her feet were still cold.
“worried?” Nancy nodded her head as she looked at the bag in Zero’s hand. It was Nancy’s bag. Zero held it up, ready for her to take.
“Yeah, you know, my parents might be worried.” Zero stared at Nancy’s eyes. Her pretty blue eyes weren’t happy.
“parents?” Nancy was frowning now, and Zero was wrong.
“Yeah, you kmow, your mom and dad.” Nancy took a step closer to Zero now. Her hand reached out for Zero, but didnt reach her.
“Like, Papa?” Nancy nodded hesitantly.
“Yeah, your papa, I guess.” Zero frowned at her. Papa was looking for her with the bd men. Was Papa just worried about her and eleven? Maybe she shouldn’t have left.
Papa was just worried.
“I have to go now, but I’ll see you at school.” Nancy then turned away.
“Bye, pretty.” Nancy smiled distantly as she walked out the back door. Zero froze as the door shut in front of her. The wind whistled outside, roaring as she went up the stairs. Her hand glided up the railing as shivers crawled up her body.
Her feet were cold, she didnt like that. The lab was cold, and the tiles had little grooves that poked at her feet. She went, ty pushed the door to Steve’s room open. There in the quiet, he slept, his back bare, his was muscled. Zero gently sat on the empty side of his bed, her finger poking at his shoulder.
Steve ran hot. He breathed through his nose, hugging the pillow like it was a person. There was a wet circle by his mouth; it dripped down his lip at the corner. Zero reached her hand to his mouth, gently feeling the goo.
It was weird against her fingers. She wiped it on his back with a frown.
Steve looked so calm.
so perfect, perfect in a way Zero didn't have a name for.
His hair was tousled back, and his skin was on full display. She didn't know anyone could sleep like that. She always had her gown on. He seemed to be bare. Zero wondered if she could leave the blanket and crawl into his skin and hide. Surely it would be warm.
Steve didnt stir as she stared. People would normally jump back if she touched them; here, Steve just dreamt. Her fingers traced the dots on his back quietly.
“Nancy…” Steve mumbled, his eyes fluttering. Zero froze, snapping her hand away.
“Sorry…” She whispered, staring down at him. He opened one eye, the light creeping in from the hall, hitting. His eyes were golden in sunlight, the brown deeper in the faint light.
“Zee? Where’s Nance?” He rubbed his one eye quietly. He had a sad frown. Was Steve sad?
“She went to her mom.” He nodded his head as he slowly turned over. The blanket crept down, and Zero stared at his stomach. It was cut up, but no scars; his stomach was tiny, very tiny, with the cut-up bumps. Zero wanted to trace her fingers down; she wanted to trace down the V that formed at his hips.
“Hey, Zee?” She looked at him.
“Yeah.” Hi eyes were huddled with sleep and sorrow.
“I’m sorry about today… I know it probably was a lot.” Zero hummed softly at him. Slowly, Zero lay down on the pillow next to him. She just stared at his chest, where she could hear his heart beating. It was sleepy too.
Steve was just sleepy. He huffed softly, running his hand over his face, trying to force the sleep from his eyes.
“I shouldn’t have left you, and I definitely should've paid more attention. I mean, you could've drowned.” Steve lamented. Zero scooted closer to him, her finger poking his chest.
If she wanted, Zero knew she could poke through and feel his heart. Maybe pull it out to hold.
“S’okay.” He shook his head a little.
“No, Zee, it's not. You could've really gotten hurt. I'm sorry.” Zero flicked his forehead. His perfect face scrunched up, and a small wince left his mouth.
“What’d you do that for?” Zero giggled. Pennywise did that a lot; it was like the mouth thingy Steve and Nancy did.
“You've got to be the strangest girl I've ever met.” Zero liked the way Steve said that.
“Night, Steve.” Zero closed her eyes, humming softly. She should feel his confusion; it echoed in his mind. She liked his mind. She wanted to really look at it.
But that would hurt Steve, and Zero would hurt Steve.
She’d made a list of the people she’d hurt.
She knew Pennywise’s hole was deep and would grow deeper. Zero filled that hole with blood.
As her list grew, there would be more and more blood.
Steve would not fill that pit of blood; he was too perfect for that.

Giggling was an unusual occurrence within the Hawkins lab; this was a well-known fact. Laughter wasn't common unless it was with Zero. Zero always seemed to have an odd, serene smile on her face. Something none of the scientists could change.
No tests, experiments, no torture could take that smile away. Whenever she was done, she would sit in the rainbow room and color for hours. It was difficult to pull her away; only Henry Creel would be able to bring the girl to bed.
On this day, Zero sat on the small plastic table, her crayons scattered around her. Her papers around her were all colored as Henry approached the small girl.
"Zero, it's grown rather late. Come, let's go to bed." Slowly, the little girl looked up with a smile. Her e/c eyes were sparkled as she sat on the ground. She shook her head softly as she held up her dulled red crayon.
"Not done yet," she mumbled softly as she looked back at the pictures she had made. Slowly, Henry knelt by her side with a calm smile. His fingers grazed over the drawings, all the same.
A clowe, large and imposing clown. Wild red hair, two dancing black eyes, and a red balloon in hand. His older held tightly around a small girl who bore a striking resemblance to Zero.
"Zero, are you not tired now?" She turned with a bright smile to Doctpr Brenner as he walked towards her. No one else was left in the room with her.
"Not done yet, Papa." Dr. Brenner's face shifted as he looked over at Henry. The pictures around the pair. Seemed to smile up at him. His brown eyes widened slowly as Henry gently grabbed Zero's hand.
Slowly, Zero let Henry lead her towards the door with a smile. Her feet were bare against the floor. She smiled with a studding bounce in her step. As the pair left the rainbow room, Dr. Brenner remained staring at the table of colored pages.
It had finally found her.
Dr. Brenner's weapon against the Soviets was almost ready.
Henry was running now, chasing after the softly giggling of Zero. No one knew how she got out of her room. He locked the door. Guards were posted at her door like always. Except now alarms were blaring. The guards by her room were dead. And Henry was chasing her down the halls of the lab.
He paused, watching her pause at a door; it opened for her. A single red balloon floated in, and he followed with a smile. Henry followed behind her, straight into the boiler room.
When he finally caught full sight of her, she was kneeling. She was reaching down into a tunnel. The red balloon she was following was gently floating out of the tunnel towards the open air.
"Zero!" The little girl sat up from her spot, a sleepy look on her face. Henry quickly took her by the arm. He knelt by the girl with a harsh look. He shook her sharply once.
"Zero! What are you doing?" She blinked at him slowly and pointed towards the open tunnel. He gasped softly at the way to freedom.
"Mr. Penny asked me to meet him down here." Henry pulled himself away at her soft tone. She stared at him, her braid messed up. She was the only child still with hair intact. Anytime one of the scientists tried to shave it off lights would go out, and they would end up in pools of their own blood before any guard could get inside the room.
"Mr. Penny?" Henry asked softly, no longer clutching her so harshly. She nodded softly.
"My friend asked me to come see him. he told me to follow the balloon," Zero mumbled softly. As she spoke, the red balloon came into view. Henry stood up, gently pushing Zro behind himself. She giggled as a white hand launched out. Henry tested as all the air became cold.
Slowly, it emerged, clinging onto the red balloon. His steps were slow and measured, a soft jingle of the bells on his costume each time. She peered out from behind him with a smile.
"Hello, Mr. Penny." Zero answered wide-eyed. Smoke poured out from one of the pipes, ensuring nothing could be seen. The clown popped its head out with a wild laugh. Henry took a step back, his grip on the girl grown tighter.
"Hello, Y/n, my favorite girl." The clown spoke with an eerie joy.
Henry raised a brow at the name the clown used. Zero tilted her head at her clown friend. She kept one hand in Henry's, the other free at her side. Slowly, the clown knelt to Zero's height.
"You finally came." It gently held out the red balloon for Zero to take. She wanted to leap towards the clown, her smile told it so. But Henry kept his grip tight. Zero took the balloon with a smile as she giggled.
"Sorry I took long, Pennywise." She looked straight into his golden eyes that seemed to glow in the dark boiler room.
"And you've brought a friend." Pennywise's head jutted to the side, drool dripping from his red, pained mouth. Zero nodded her head, speelily leaning into Henry.
"Henry Creel, I've been wondering when I'd get to taste you." The clown's face went flat. Henry quickly took the tired girl into his arms. he held her tightly, just as she held her balloon.
"Silly Pennywise, Henry is a friend." The clown growled as he whipped his head towards Zero.
"silly sleepy girl, silly silly girl." Henry took hard steps backwards away from the unmoving clown. Its body cracked as it stood to its full height, its shoulders heaving so softly. Zero's eyes began to droop, and she held tightly onto the balloon.
"Bye-bye, Mr. Pennywise." She blinked back sleep as Henry pushed at the boiler room door, never breaking eye contact with the clown.
"I'll taste you soon.., Henry." That's when he ran. he ran through the halls till the guards found them. Their tazers were bright as he came to a full stop. Dr. Brenners stood before him, a stern look painted on his face.
"he's here for her." Dr. Brenner nodded his head softly.
"Take her to bed, stay there till I can properly secure Zero's room." Henry clung to the girl tighter as he walked back to her sterile room. He didnt pause while guards entered the boiler room and began to scream.
He gently set Zero onto the harsh. Coat of her bed. he gently pulled the ti from her hair and just stared. As he stared, he paid no attention to the way she lost grip of the red balloon.
It floated up into the air as Henry just stared at Zero. In this small moment, she looks so perfect. So perfectly innocent, in a way, he wanted to spare him from his wrath. With incocnet came weakness of the mind.
Henry wondered deeply how he would be able to corrupt that innocence.
He turned to leave when he spotted the red balloon afloat in the corner of the room.
"Tie me to my bed, please." Henry gently grabbed the string and tugged it down. Zero smiled faintly as she lay fully back down. Her dreamy smile once again graced her face.
Zero kept her hand tightly on the smaller girl as they walked through the woods. Her long, h/c hair had long since fallen out of its braid. Her feet were muddy and sore as she walked.
The girl by her side paused. Zero turned her gaze to her. Eleven stood firm, staring at a rather large white building. A door swung open, and a tall and large man was holding some kind of black bag. She stared down at her little one softly. There was dirt all over her face.
It wasn't safe, so they had to keep walking. Then she heard it. The eerie laugh that echoed through the woods. She turned her gaze towards the trees and couldn't see him.
Eleven tugged at her sister's torn dress. Zero turned slowly and paused. The back door had a red balloon next to it. The laughter still echoed in her ears as she nodded gently. She began to lead the smaller girl towards the white building sharply.
Her feet were rough against the wooden steps as she gently pushed the door in. Eleven peered behind her as Zero followed the floating balloon. Soft music filled the pair's ears as they walked.
Zero turned her head gently as the red balloon moved back through a pair of doors. Eleven was paused at a small gap in the opposite pair of doors. Zero gently tugged Eleven behind her as she pushed past the doors to follow her balloon. Inside was a place like the two girls had never seen.
Faintly, Zero could hear people speaking; even fainter was the sound of children singing. She stopped as she stared down a sink towards the drain. The singing was closer now. She smiled, pulling away as she listened to eleven.
She was eating these rectangular fried things. Zero looked over the window as she let the younger girl eat. The man who threw out the trash had his back to them still. When he turned, Zero tried to move her sister away, but it was no use.
"Hey!" the mah had spotted them. Zero quickly tugged Eleven through the doors, chasing after the red balloon that flew away. He had led them this far. He knew the way. Heavy footsteps came behind the pair, and then Zero didnt feel eleven. The man had one arm on both of them.
"You think you can steal from me!" Eleven stared up in fear as Y/n twisted in the man's grip. The girls panted as the man loosened his grip slightly.
"What in the hell?"
The chair was bigger, and she actually fit in it. The chair wasn't plastic either. It was cushions in a softer way, like her pillow had been. Her hands were greasy as she ate potato stick after potato stick.
Her clothes were different now. The man had given her a shirt to wear, which was a bright teal color. It was rather big on Zero; it fell just below the middle of her thigh.
Next to her, Eleven was scarfing down the meat patty thing ht he had made her. he tried to offer to make her one. Zero had shaken her head. Eleven was hungry now, and to make another would take too long.
"geez. Your parents forget to feed you?" Eleven made no pause in her eating. Zero stared into the man's soul as she paused. The sticks were delicious, the best thing she'd ever eaten. But she needed to. Make sure this man, before them, couldn't do anything, to make sure that if he attacked, she was ready.
"Is that why you girls ran away?" Zero blinked softly at the man. Elven's chewing echoed through the empty area. The man looked around, and Y/n studied him. he had a beard; only the guards had beards. Papa never had one. His arms were big, strong with muscle. He was wearing a clock on his wrist.
"They hurt you?" Zero studied his tone. It was soft, soft in the same way her clowns were. Soft like when he told her to follow the balloon while he rolled onto the floor. Eleven didnt stop eating, good, she needs energy back.
"You went to the hospital, you got scared, you ran off, you wound up here, is that it?" Eleven paused and looked up at him. His hands jutted on the table as Zero held his gaze.
His hands quickly took the food from eleven, then the potato sticks from Zero. he got in closer to the two girls.
"I'll give this back, all right? And you can have as much as you want, both of you. All right. Maybe even some ice cream." Zero tilted her head. She didnt know what ice cream was.
"But you gotta answer a few of my questions first, all right." This man seemed to like that phrase. All right. He said it a bunch. Like how Pennywise would say......
Would say...
Her mind was blank for a minute.
"We got a deal?" Zero sent a small look to eleven. They stared at the man before them silently.
"All right, let's start with the east stuff. All right?" The man pushed his hand out in front of the girls softly. All right, he said it again.
"My name's Benny, Benny Hammond." Neither girl moved. Zero stared at him as he slowly took her hand.
"See? Like this, here. I got you. Don't worry. It's okay," then Benny softly moved Zero's hand up and down. She stared with a furrowed brow at him.
"Nice to meet you, and you two are?" Zero's face didn't change; she wouldn't speak. Eleven gently grasped onto her teal shirt with an uneasy look.
Benny's face slumped as he gently set Zero's hand back on the table. He turned it over once and gasped softly. There on her wrist was a small tattoo.
000
Benny's hand shot out and turned Eleven's wrist over next.
011
Quickly, the two girls shot their hands away. Zero gtabbef Eleven"s arm tightly under the table. Benny sighed deeply, and he held his hand over his mouth.
"Zero? Eleven? What's that mean?" The pair simply stared at him.
"What does it mean?" Benny urged again. Zero blinked softly as she sat in the nice chair. Behind Benny was the red balloon, which floated in the window. She only needed to ask, and he would come for her.
"No," eleven's voice was soft, definite.
"Well, I'll be damned. She speaks." It would be so easy, as easy as waking up., as easy as letting her clown feed on him and in front of her.
"No? No, what?" Benny asked again. The girls made no move to answer him. Benny's tongue clocked as he grabbed the plastic food bowls.
"All right. I guess no more food then." Evelyn's eyes follow Benny as he stands up.
"Eleven." Zero shot her head down to her little one. Her brow furrowed deeply as she sighed.
"zero."
"What does it mean?" Benny gently sat back down. Eleven's pointed finger dug into her chest softly.
"Eleven," then she paused and pointed at her sister. "Zero."
"All right, then. Here you go." Benny chuckled as he gave the girls the food back. Eleven quickly drove into her food with a gleeful look. Benny was too nice, too nice to be eaten.
She had a feeling someone else would show, so Penny could eat them instead.
The counter was cold against her bare legs. The tub of ice cream sat on her lap. Benny had called it Neapolitan. Zero really liked it. Eleven sat next to her with a pint of her own ice cream, strawberry flavored.
The sink raged on as Benny cleaned up his kitchen. Zero's eyes never leave him. Eleven devoured her ice cream, bite by bite. Benny looked back at her softly.
"You're a perceptive little thing, aint ya." Zero blinked up at him softly. She didnt know that word. He tilted up at him. Her hair, dirty, clung to her face. Benny smiled softly as she took another spoonful of ice cream into her mouth.
His gaze turned to eleven as she shoved another spoon of strawberry ice cream into her mouth. Zero just stared at him with this eerie silence. The drain he was at is where Penny had sung to her.
She hadn't seen her balloon in a few hours now. Some small childlike part of her hoped that meant she was safe.
"You like that ice cream." Eleven allowed her lips to curl slightly.
"Smile looks good on you." Benny offered, gently stopping the water. Zero blinked twice and licked her lip. It was broken over; if she pulled too hard, it would bleed. Benny's eyes looked over her.
"You know, smile." Benny then opened his mouth upwards. Eleven followed with hr own tiny one. Benny's eyes moved to her frame, hopeful. Sighing, Zero lifted the edges of her lips; she felt the healed skin rip back open.
Benny chuckled at them as he made his way back to the dishes. Zero licked her lips, tasting the iron in her blood. She didnt hate it, but couldn't understand Pennywise's appeal to blood.
It was his favorite food, she guessed.
Her thoughts were pulled by multiple heavy knocks on the back door. Zero's head shot backwards, her body tensing. She jumped down from the counter, placing herself in front of Eleven.
Zero's eyes never moved from the door. Elevens stared up at Benny with fear.
"All right. You just sit tight. whoever it is, I'll tell 'em to go away real quick, all right?" Benny was too calm. Zero gently grabbed onto her sister's knee, urging her to get down. A silence filled her ears, a buzz behind her eyes, a tingle on her skin that made her hair stick upright.
She turned, and there it was, her balloon.
The knocking didn't stop till the door opened. Zero tensed up as she watched the women on the other side of the door. Something was wrong. She pulled at Elven, a bit harsher than she wished.
Zero's body jumped as she watched the woman hit Benny with silenced gunshots. She pulled Eileen away and out of the kitchen, following her red balloon. She looked back once and heard another door slam.
She came to a full stop as two men raised their guns at her. Zero pulled eleven into her side as she glared. The air seemed to still as she raised her hands.
Static filled the room as the guns fell from the men's hands, crackling with electricity. Before either man could blink, she'd thrown their bodies up in the air, bone by bone, their bodies cracked and then fell.
A power as she'd never known filled into her body; it was like a supercharge. She looked down at the two men softly. Their eyes were blown out of their sockets, limbs cracked and twisted.
A snack of pennywise.
She threw the door open, and they ran. She could tell they were following behind her. She didnt have time to stop. Her bare feet hit against the muddy ground over and over. She could hear people chasing after her.
Zero pulled Eleven behind a tree, panting deeply. She gently shook the girl as rain poured down on them all over. Lightning flashed above their heads. She gasped as she watched men enter the woods from every angle.
"Run, that way." Zero pointed towards the opposite side of the treeline. Eleven shook her head deeply. Zero sighed deeply as she pushed her towards the other way.
"Go! now! Go eleven!" The smaller girl's lips trembled as she ran. Zero sighed deeply as she threw herself in the other direction. Lights flashed on her as she moved through the treeline. She could hear every man in the woods chasing her and not Eleven.
That's all that mattered now.
Her body jutted to a stop as murlipe men circled her. Every flashlight was pointed at her, every gun pointed at her. Her feet bare down onto the muddy ground.
Her hair sticks up as she looks around. Their through the tree, was her balloon. Slowly, it floated through the men eerily.
"What the hell is that!"
"I don't know!"
Her hand shot out and pulled the balloon down. Then everything went out, every light shot out all at once. The lighting flashed above them, and there he stood. Tall and imposing. As the flashlights all shot back on, the men around them gasped.
They all screamed at one another. Radio static echoed through the woods. Zero threw her head into the clown's side, holding tight onto him. The clown's head jutted down as it slowly wrapped its arm around her small frame.
She stared up at him softly and then pointed.
"food." The clown laughed; it echoed through the trees, and the men tensed up.
"Good girl, very good girl," she smiled brightly as the clown patted her head. Slowly, he pushed her back softly.
"Go now." Zero furrowed her brow deeply as she clung to his outstretched arm. The clown sighed as he shook her off. She pouted deeply.
"Run, girl. RUN!" She smiled as she turned away. Bullets flew past her as she ran. The sounds of screams and devouring pumped through her ears. Every prick at her skin as she ran.
Her foot caught, and then she could feel her body tumbling. She coughed as she pulled herself up on a tree. She stared at the glowing pool of water before her. The huge house with bright lights. She stumbled forward, feeling the thick red blood drip down the side of her face.
She looked down into the water slowly. She panted softly as she heard their laughing all around her. It rang out like bells in her ears softly. Then a door opened.
As she turned, she couldn't help but stare. There, under all the rain, though her eyes she could barely see through, was a man.
He stood perfectly safe under his house, shirtless, his chest full of hair. Dressed in blue pants that are crossed with shades of grey and white. His hair was tousled and a mess. His eyes were wide and... brown. A soft shade of brown.
"What the fuck." his words were breathy as she rubbed his eyes. he looked her up and down as he saw the blood mixing with the rain.
"What the actual fuck."
The tilted floor was cold as she sat there. She blinked widely around the white bathroom. She was shivering deeply as she kept her knees to her chest. The blood dripped down her face softly. It stained her skin softly as she sat quietly.
Sitting on the toilet seat was the boy, gently filling up the tub with hot water. She blinked softly as she stared up at him. His hair was tousled with sleep, his eyes droopy. He wrung his hand under the water softly.
"All done, let's get you cleaned up." Slowly, the boy reached out to grasp her shoulders. Zero threw herself back, harshly smacking her head against the wall. He paused, his hands still outstretched.
"It's okay, it's just water for you." The boy then slowly stood up. She blinked deeply as he stared down at her. His knees met the floor gently.
"Look, just get into the tub. get cleaned up, okay?" Slowly, the boy reached back down. Zero allowed him to pull her up. She just stood and stared at him. The boy sighed deeply, running his hand through his hair.
"Come on, your clothes gotta come off." The boy motions to a shirt he didnt have. She blinked and pulled the teal shirt clean off. The boy yelped and slammed his hands on his face.
"shit! I didnt mean with me in front of you." Gently she tilted her head softly,, confusion etched onto her face. The boy slowly grasped her shoulder, his eyes pushed shut. The water waded around her as she sat down in the tub.
Her knees were pulled to her chest again, and her chin rested on her knees. Zero just stared at the boy as he covered his eyes again. It was an odd thing to stare at. Whenever she was getting cleaned at the lab, plenty of men watched.
The guards watched as the male orderlies scrubbed her skin raw, dug their nails into her scalp, and bruised parts of her skin.
He didnt watch as she just sat in the water motionless.
"Okay, I'm gonna open my eyes, is that okay?" Zero blinked. Finally, some normality from this horrible day. Slowly, he opened both eyes, not looking down. His tired but still gentle brown eyes were firmly planted on Zero's eyes, nothing else.
For those were quiet seconds, the pair just looked at one another. Zero was following every line on his face. Every small twitch and imperfection, he oddly had none. His face was made perfectly. His chin was sharp. His lips were perfectly hearted at the top. A series of tiny brown dots on his face. Two on his cheek and two in his neck.
His nose had a tiny arch in it. His brows were a little darker than his hair. His hair was her favorite feature. It was so perfectly messy, in a way she'd never seen. All the orderlies have perfectly combed back hair. All the guards always had a hat on. Papa has smoothed back his hair, not a strain out of place.
Zero's finger was tugging on a dropped wave that was right in front of his eyes. She circled her wet finger around it cautiously. Slowly, the boy let out a small noise; it ran out oddly. It was a tiny laugh, one so small it barely registered in her brain. She liked it immensely.
"You like? most chicks absolutely dig the hair." He laughed again, and Zero's e/c eyes seemed to light up. The boy's eyes stared. It was nice to see a tiny spark of joy in those lifeless eyes.
"I guess even some crazy chick I found in my backyard, like good old king Steve's hair." Zero blinked timidly as she tilted her head. Her hair gently floated into the water, allowing some of the dirt to fade into the water.
"King Steve?" The boy's eyes widen.
"So you can speak." There was a small piece of awe that lingered in his words. She let go of the soft curl and pressed it into the middle of his forehead.
"King Steve?" the boy cackled weakly as she shook his head.
"No, ummm, that's what people call me. I'm Steve Harrington." She hummed once. Nodding once.
"Hair-ring-ton." Steve smiled widely, his perfect teeth on display.
"Yeah, Harrington." he stood up softly, grabbing a white bottle. Gently, he handed her a pink washcloth. She furrowed her brow at him. What was she supposed to do with this? Steve gently squeezed the bottle till a green goop came out. He stared down at her quietly.
"You clean up, and I'll go call umm someone. I'll call the cops or maybe your parents." Zero's eyes snapped towards him harshly as he moved to leave the bathroom. As he began to open the door, it slammed shut, right out of his grip. he tried again, only for the door to slam shut. He grabbed the handle again and snapped away harshly.
The gold handle steamed softly, and as Steve looked down at his hand, he gasped. It was red, inflamed with heat. Softly, he spun on his heel to look at the girl in his tub, her hand outstretched.
"No." Steve gently sat back by the tub. he took the pink washcloth slowly.
"Okay, no cops, I guess." She blinked at him. Steve gulped deeply and reached for her arm. She flinched back as he grasped her arm. He kept his grip firm as she stared at her wrist.
000
He sighed softly up at her; she hadn't stopped trembling. He gently ran the washcloth over her muddy arms. Zero's eyes were so wide that Steve wanted to laugh a little.
"I can't believe the first time I've got a girl in mt tub it's some crazy girl, not a hookup." He joked softly, hoping her tremble would stop. To his surprise, it did. She raised a brow in confusion again.
"Hookup?" he laughed again, cleaning up her shoulders. She followed his hands over her body quietly. He wasn't scratching her skin like the orderlies would. He was soft.
He offered her the rag softly.
"Do you wanna clean your other stuff? It's all muddy and bloody still," she blinked again. Steve just stared into her eyes again. This is something he'd never done. He hadn't done this ever.
Zero slowly lowered her legs from her chest. His head turned to the side sighed deeply. His hands moved forward, but his head didnt. Zero just stared as she had never done before.
"It's like, you hang out with a girl and umm...." he dropped the cloth into the water and pulled the drain. Slowly, he poured more water into the tub. His hands found her shoulders and turned her around. Her back was to him as he grabbed a different bottle.
The gel lathered in his hands as she stared down at the drain. The dirty water slowly exited, swirling around. His hands ran through her hair, pushing the soap around softly.
"It's like hanging out and doing fun stuff." She nodded slowly as Steve massaged her scalp. She smiled softly as the bubbles dripped around her.
"Okay, so you asked a question. Now I'm gonna ask you something." Zero hummed softly. She looked around the perfect porcelain tub.
"I know plenty of people with... tattoos, but why three zero's in a row?" She looked back at him, her body pushing around the new warm water flooding into the pool.
"Steve," he gasped softly, his hands pausing in her hair. The way his name softly echoed from her lips sent something down his spine. A soft chill that wasn't cold. A warm feeling that he didnt understand.
"Yeah?" his hands moved again, covering her eyes with one and rinsing out the soap with the other.
"No, Steve," he blinked softly.
"Yeah? What?" she groaned, annoyed at him. She pushes at his chest gently.
"Steve," she then slowly pointed at herself. "Zero."
Steve blinked at her softly. His fingers worked more soap through her hair again. Quiet in the silence of his bathroom.
"Your name is Zero...?" Her silence was enough of an answer.
"That's interesting, is that like a family name?" She shook her head with a gentle sway of the water. She poked at the small bubble, flinching when it popped. She watched more of the clear water fade into a murky color. She slowly leaned back into his big hands.
"Why were you out in the woods covered in blood?" She stared down at the closed drain. No one could reach her if she wanted. Penny wouldn't be able to send this boy into a trance with the soft singing through the drain.
Oddly, deep in her chest, she left like she didnt need to.
"Bad," he poured more water over her head, his hand shielding her eyes again.
"Bad what? Your parents, maybe? Are they bad? Did they hurt you?" She can feel his eyes over her body, the scars, every horrible moment that was forced on her body.
"Bad men." Steve pulled back away, pulled a robe, which was plaid like his pants. He slowly reached under her arms, wrapping her tightly in the robe with a soft look.
"bad men? Like bad people were looking for you?" Steve slowly sat Zero on his toilet, grabbing a small jar with leaves running all over. He opened it with a twist of the cap. Inside was a white substance that he pulled out in his hands. He slowly dragged the fluffy mixture through her hair before pulling it back up again.
Gently, Zero lifted her hand. Slowly forming it into a gun that pointed right between Steve's brows.
"Pew. Bang. right there." Steve grasped her hand, staring at the dirt under her nail. He nodded at her with a true look of dread planted in his soft brown eyes.
"Right, I mean right cause that's just amazing, isn't it. Bad guys are hunting you, and I have a leave-in conditioner in your hair." There was a pause. "Your hair was crazy dry; it needed a leave-in."
She smiled up at him as he cleaned off his hands. It was quiet for a while longer as he rinsed the leave-in conditioner. As he pulled out a weird-looking device that blew hair towards her.
"Oh come on, I'm amazing. Look at you! Gorgeous hair now, all clean. I mean, you actually look like a girl." She stared at her reflection gently. She did look different. He added more products to her hair.
"If it wasn't a lame job, I might actually be a good hair stylist, yeah?" his smile was infectious as he led her out of his bathroom. His bed was soft; it bounced a little. Unlike her bed, that one was stiff, unless Penny crawled in with her. he was nice to sleep on.
"Okay, so I was thinking you see the couch," she followed his pointed finger.
"You can just sleep there, and I'll be right here," he pointed at the bed. She wasn't really looking at him; her eyes were so many places. She pulled at the grey covers softly; they were so soft.
The boy sighed deeply as he opened some drawers quickly. Behind his bed is a woman wearing just a white and small white thing over her breasts. His walls were like his pants, faded but in different shades.
"Here you go, these are the best pj's hawkins has to offer." She looked past him to the lamp on his tall table thingy with many drawers. She looked down at the pjs as he called them. It was a shirt that read Hawkins Phys Ed, and another pair of fanny pants like he was wearing now.
She didnt move to change her clothes. Steve pushed himself off his desk quietly. He grabbed the flannel pants and knelt in front of her.
"I'll help you, you put each foot into these holls." Zero smiled softly and did as she was told. The robe fell as she stood up to stare up at him. he quickly grabbed the shirt and pulled it over her head.
"I've never known a girl who didnt give two shits about her modesty, Nance hasn't even let me really put mt hands up her shirt," he mumbled. Zero raised her brow softly.
"Nance?" he nodded his head again.
"Yeah, Nancy, my girlfriend. right when I thought girls couldn't confuse me anymore, here you come." Zero smiled gently as she pulled the covers harshly. She wrapped them around herself with a smile. It was warm.
She could feel his eyes on her. Not just Steve's but Penny's too. But her balloon was nowhere in sight. She was safe for now, and so was Steve. Penny wouldn't eat him tonight.
"All of the tunnels are underground." Steve gently sat down by her, the odd girl currently in his bed. The odd girl who was covered head to toe in mud and blood. The odd girl called Zero.
"where none of the children will ever be found." There was complete silence in his room. The air was thin as her tiny song filled the room.
"They found their way to join the show." In that moment, Steve swore he could feel something else in his room. His hand found its way to her shoulder, holding it gently.
"And lost their way in the world below." He gasped deeply as he looked into the corner of his room. The dark corner where the lamp light flickered.
"They swallowed the pills, and they lost their fear." Two glowing gold eyes stare right at him. Right into his soul. The image, no, the memory of his mother swallowing a pair of pink pills flashed in his mind.
"But nothing they hoped to find was here." They were so hauntingly horrible.
"They joined the circus and left their town." Steve grasped tighter onto the odd girl tighter. He pulled her closer as she sang eerilu.
"Now they live down here with the clown." He pulled her close, close to his chest. His back hit the headboard. Terror engulfed his body.
"Down with the clown." His hand wrapped around her head, gently hiding her face in his chest. Steve pulled the blanket closer around her.
"Down with the clown." Outside, the lighting flashed, and there was the outline of a clown. A tall clown, taller than any human Steve had ever seen.
"Down with the clown." Blood dripped down its lip as IT stepped forward. A shaken breath escaped Steve as he hid his face against Zero's body.
"Now they live down here with the clown." Zero opened one eye to stare at her clown. Her hand shot out from underneath the blanket. All at once, the lights all shot on.
She held her clown's gaze for a few seconds. IT smiled as its bells rang out with every step back into the dark. Till he was gone.
Steve slowly opened his eyes. Instead of the glowing eyes, he saw just a small, odd girl, sleeping peacefully in his arms now.
Deep in the woods of Hawkins, in a large cabin, Ben Hascom shot out of his bed. Shivers are pouring all over his body. With every lightning strike against the sky, it felt like the echo of his heart.
"What terrible things we will do for those you love."

A/n/ We start the actual movie with this chapter. It’s a lot of character building to start.
Synopsis: There was a darkness, an anger that lingered inside her. The adopted sister of Sue and Johnny Storm. It was easy, losing her first family, only to lose parts of her next family. She wasn’t an easy child; she was strange and often talked in her dreams. Tormented by dreams and people alike, with age came the facade to hide her true nature. Not with him through, never with Reed Richards. There was no rage, no darkness, only peace until that peace was destroyed and amplified by one mission to space.
01: A Miracle
His movement in the room wasn’t precise like it normally was. He was frazzled, picking up his suit that he had left on the ground. His franticness didnt help the unease in Y/n’s body. Not as she sat on the toilet, her hands shaking softly.
The way she opened drawer after drawer, looking for only god knew what. He didnt even pause to think. Not with his rapid mind, logically telling him every single place his desired object could be. That was just Reed.
“Beloved, I’ve counted you open nine of the eighteen drawers by the main mirrors.” Y/n voiced from the closed stall. Another drawer opened softly.
“I’m looking for the aloe iodine.” Reed’s voice was in processing mode. He wasn't really listening. She furrowed her brows gently at him. She kept her head down, staring at the white stick.
“It’s not here.” Frustration was making its way into his voice. Another door opened, and she smiled gently. She knew he was looking in the wrong place. The sound of drawers was too close.
“You're not looking in the right place.” A soft patience was in Y/ns voice, a patience reserved mainly for him. he didnt listen as more objects clattered around.
“I’m looking in a perfectly reasonable spot.” his mumble was not unnoticed either. Y/n couldn’t help but chuckle at him. She looked down at the stick; it was still flashing through both signs.
“Beloved, I just need a second, a I will pull the aloe iodine out of your ass.” All the objects stopped moving.
“A second has already passed, and I think I would remember leaning something in my ass, Y/n.” She giggled softly at his pause, her nerves calm for a moment.
“Wow, these are expired.” He was looking in her skincare drawer. The drawer of brand products was given in hopes of advertising. Then the flashing went away.
A small gasp left her mouth, and tiny tears welled in her eyes. Emotion after emotion flooded her system. Joy, that exploded in thunderblots. A grief over something she mourned over, a thing she thought she had shed. A relief like Y/n hadn’t felt in years. A fear that she’d never known. Bottles still clicked together as Y/n bit the very edge of her nail.
Leaving the bathroom, her perfectly manicured hand clutched tighter on the stick. She walked right over to the farthest drawer and pulled the bottle of aloe iodine out. Her feet muld over the cool tilescauticoual.
“Okay. betadune. chlohxeidine. no iodine.” Reed was now hunted over her first cabinet. Her hands glided along the counter as she slid the bottle towards her husband.
“Not in my ass, thanks.” Her hands trembled as she placed the white stick on their orange counters. There, clear as day, did the pregnancy test glow a positive sign. Her cloudy eyes watched his face as he gently picked up the test.
She leaned into the counter, not trusting her body to hold her up right. It's not like Y/n imagined Reed would be unhappy. She wasn't sure what she wanted her to think. She knew this would be a change. Reed didnt do well with change. He was precise, mathematical, tactical, not soporific.
Reed’s beautiful dark eyes trailed but her frame. Eyed that made her melt every time. Those eyes, they belonged to her. They all would look to her. They stared down at her when she woke up screaming. They belonged to her.
She watched as his body turned, leaning into the counter as she did. She stared at the bruise on his left shoulder, not wondering why he had gone mad looking for the aloe and iodine. His fingers cradled the stick gently.
“That's not..” He paused softly. “We tried for two years.” Then he looked at her with those eyes. Those perfect eyes. A smile rippled across her face, a real smile.
“I know, I know…. I know, beloved.” The tremble in her voice was from fear, not grief, but joy. he blinked softly at her.
“I mean, we don't even talk about it anymore,” she giggled again.
“I hardly needed you to talk to me, a look. It was enough to get the important stuff done.” Her nails bit into her skin; she was clenching her fist so tightly. A smile eased its way onto Reed’s face as he chuckled at her.
“I know if it wasn't meant to be, we had to be okay with that. I know we were okay with that...” Reed looked down at the test and back up at her. His brow arched inwards softly, his face entuned into hers.
“We were okay, but” There was a long pause. She watched his face. Her shoulders weren’t tense, nor was his jaw. he chuckled, in a real way, not an uncomfortable way.
“Well, this is better.” Y/n followed his words with a nod of her head. She launched herself forward, pulling his arm as he stared down at the test.
“It’s so much better!” She pulled his arm up and down gently. She pulled back, trembling hands scratching at the back of her neck.
“This is great!” the test clattered on the counter as Reed’s muscled arms found their home around Y/ns wasit. She let her hands rest against his jaw to caress him carefully. Joy exploded from him in waves she always adored.
Without hesitation, she dug her hands into his hair and pulled him in. his lips found her heaven with hers. Reed’s right hand rose higher, clutching onto the soft blue robe Y/n wore. She could feel his wedding band through the thin fabric.
She gigled as he pulled away with his prodigal faceback on. Reed's mind was racing, every equation, every question running a million miles a minute, trying to find all the answers he wanted.
“Obviously, we’re gonna need protocols to account for our cells’ mutations,” Reed continued. She moved her hands to his chest, her thumb running over his racing heart.
“Beloved,” she spoke softly, pulling his eyes back to her.
“monitoring for further cosmic effects.” Y/n laughed once at his wording.
“Reed, we’ve got this. We really got this.” Y/n’s tone was slowed, in a way he could pick up.
“We got this.” Reed found her waist again, pulling her close.
“hell yeah, we do.” The joy in her eyes was diminished by the worry in his. She leaned up to him, gently pressing her forehead to his. She stared close into his eyes, her eyes.
“It's gonna be amazing, nothing is gonna change.” his face calmed and began to match hers again.
“Of course not,” she could stop smiling now.
Her kitchen was clean and perfect as it always was in her dreams. There on her stool did he sit quietly, gently flipping through the book. They didn't always have to speak to one another. It was an ideal dynamic they produced. Whenever they appeared together, he would be quiet first.
Not today, though, today Bob spoke first.
“You're glowing.” Y/n blinked softly at her friend from the dream world. He sat in his soft blue sweater and grey sweats. His fingers thrumped against her counters.
“Am I?” he nodded with his tiny smile.
“Like nreally glowing, like glowing glowing, like glowing in the way you have something important to tell me.” he was practically bouncing in his seat.
“Honey, I think you know it,” he jumped up happily. His hands clapped together happily. He rounded the corner and brought Y/n into a tighter hug.
“I knew it! Oh! I knew it from the moment I saw you willingly capped those nails against that counter!” She smiled at her as he sat on the counter before her.
“So, what did Mr. Smartest man alive say? Was he happy? He better have been happy.” Y/n went to open her mouth, then paused as Bob went on.
“Look at that face. Of course, he was happy. Why wouldn't he be happy? You only wanted this all alone, as these dreams have occurred. What is it now? Four years? I know you had the brightest smile when you said it to and,”
Honey!” she let out a long breath. “he was really happy.”
Bob paused with a pointed look. He looked down. At his twiddling thumbs.
“Like real happy or real happy.” his voice went up at the end of his question. Y/ns conatcou laugh filled the space brightly.
“real happy.” Bob smiled at her. In this moment, there was nothing but the. No darkness Y/n would pull Bob out of. No nightmare would wake her from.
“Well, I’m glad you’re enjoying your pregnancy so far.” Y/n nodded at Bob’s words.
“I’m not the only one,” he chuckled nervously. He was always a little nervous in these dreams.
“im happy for you Y/n, really i am.”
“Thank you, Bob, I couldn't be overjoyed, overconfident, all the amazing feelings.” Bob held her gaze, those fierce e/c eyes that never wavered.
“Will you start showing up pregnant?” The random question gave her pause. Would she?
“I don't know, I mean, this is my subconscious, my dream. mybe i will.” Bob scoffed at her playfully.
“That's still up for debate, those horror rooms are all mine...” Fear entered his tone. She paused too, concerned on her face.
“What if I send you into one of those rooms now? Would it do something?” She could see the fading in his body start. She grabbed his hands and pulled at them softly.
“Hey, Bob, that’s not gonna happen. It’s been months since we’ve seen him, since we’ve left one of my rooms. It’s gonna be okay.” Bob looked up at Y/n softly. He fiddled with Y/ns engagement ring. It was an expat replica of her mother’s ring. His mother’s ring was an old Victorian piece with an oval-cut diamond that opened like a locket.
It had been destroyed in the fire with her mother, Y/n cried when Reed proposed with it. The only thing that changed was when the diamond was pulled up, it was Y/n’s and Reed’s. Initiations instead of her parents.
It was an item that Bob liked to run his fingers over; she would have to look into her eyes.
“It’s quiet here, everything is quiet here.”
She smiled at him sofltly holding his hand. She squeezed gently and leaned down. She went under the curve of his body and made him look him in the eyes.
“I seem to have that effect on people.”
“You scare him.” Her lip curved upwards.
“Good.”
They were late; they had never been late to
Sunday dinner. It wasn’t a thing they did. Y/n was never on time for anything before. If Sue were with her, she would be on time. If it were Y/n and Johnny, they’d just never show.
Reed and Y/n had never been late.
Until today, as they mutter quietly, walking towards Sunday dinner. Sue was sitting with her wine glass in hand. Ben was adjusting his napkin. Johnny glanced up at the pair as they walked.
“You're late.” Y/n had to pull Reed as he all but froze.
“Hardly later,” she muttered under her breath.
“Hardly late? You’re late to dinner.” Y/n watched Johny undo his napkin hurriedly. She rolled his eyes at him.
“You act as though you were never late to dinner before.” Sue sent Y/n a look. Johnny was never late to Sunday dinner. It was a rule of the house. Always be at Sunday dinner.
“Late is late, I guess,” Y/n answered. She moved to her chair. She smiled at Ben as he pushed it out for her. Ben’s gaze lingered, then moved to Sue.
“I had to put some aloe iodine on my shoulder and I…” Reed muttered. Silently, Y/n cursed her husband’s lack of poker face. This is why she would never be on his team for game night.
“Why is there breakfast cereal on the dinner table?” Y/n kept her face straight as Sue looked her over. She brought her glass of water to her lips with a raised brow at the two.
“Why are you being weird?” Johnny asked, drinking from his own cup. Reed short shortcut at the moment. She closed her eyes for a second and sighed.
“Were not acting weird.”
“why is your face weird?” Y/n commented, hoping to deter Reed. Johnny smiled at her oddly; it was normal older brother-little sister banter for them. Out of the corner of her eye, Y/ns could see Ben and Sue staring at her. They couldn’t place it, though.
“My face is perfect, but his? He’s doing that weird thing with his face.” Y/n rolled her eyes softly.
“We both know that’s just his face, Johnny.” Ben leaned back in his chair. Sue Leane forwards. In that moment, she knew Reed had just let it slip. His deer-in-the-headlights look was no poker face. Team Y/n and Sue for the win.
“Are you pregnant?” Ben’s words were soft. Y/n let out a long sigh and willed herself not to smack Reed. She looked at Ben and Sue, her indifferent face changing. Her real smile came out as she nodded. She could feel Reed’s mouth open in shock.
“We’re pregnant.” Ben stood up happily. His smooth rock arms hugged Y/n tightly. She giggled as they pulled apart.
“I wonder how you guess.” She heard Sue’s soft laugh as her older sister's arms came around her shoulders.
“Have you looked at your husband's face?” Ben joked. Y/n held onto Sue’s arms bright as the sun.
“Which is why it's team Y/n and Sue at game night.” Sue retorted while placing a kiss on Y/ns cjeek.
“No poker face on that one.” She turned so she could fully hug Sue. Her darling Sue. Sue had always been there, through every single high and low. The whole journey, Sue was by Y/ns side. Especially when they thought the journey ended.
“Wait, what? Really?” Johnny’s hands were on the table. In that moment, there was no joke in her eyes. Not as Sue pulled back and Reed’s hand from home on Y/ns back.
“Yes, Johnny,” she answered. H.E.R.B.I.E. cheered in his own little way for them.
“WHAT?” Johnny yelled, laughing. He bolted right from his chair. His footsteps bounced with joy.
“You are gonna be the BEST mom! Oh my god!” Johnny picked Y/n up in a twirled hug. It was kinda there calling card. Since they were little, Johnny could never give his little sister a normal hug. It was always a twirl hug. As Johnny set Y/n down with a bright smile, he turned to Reed. Johnny pulled at Reed’s shoulder roughly, shaking him a little.
“And you are gonna be the best dad. Just kidding. You are out of your depth.” Johnny patted Reed’s chest and pointed at his face. Y/ns couldn’t help but laugh at his starstruck face.
She placed a small kiss on Reed’s beweldered cheek as Johnny pulled away.
“But we were gonna be the best uncles and aunts ever.” It was a confident declaration that Y/n smiled brightly at.
“I’m gonna make you eat those words in nine months.” Y/n giggled. Johnny’s smile never left his face.
“I'm more than sure you will,” Sue said, gently grabbing her hand.
“Ojay, we should eat,” Johnny announced. Sue pulled Y/n back to the table as she listened to Reed chuckle and shake hands with Ben behind her. Johnny went to the fridge and grabbed the sparkling apple cider. She plopped down on the table, bustling with excitement as Sue served pasta onto Y's plate.
“Isn't that for a special occasion? I got it from that English town that first made apple cider.” Johnny popped off the top happily.
“There is no better occasion, Y/n,” Sue answered, gently holding her hand on the table. She held her sister’s gaze as Reed sat back down at her side.
“You wanna help me with the nursery?” Sue lit up as Johnny poured the cider.
“Of course I do!” Y/ns mind drifted as they toasted and began to eat. All the words around her muld together softly. Joy was the atmosphere. Nothing would take that from her. Not even as she looked in the corner and saw him. Her angel was floating there.
For the first time, it bade its head st her, with resolution or despair. Y/n did not know. She was too overjoyed to care.
A/n: this is one of my stories from wattpad so I thought I’d bring it over as a Christmas gift. I hope yall enjoy and read at your own risk.

00: Into the Fire
It was a devastating sight to behold. Fire was everywhere; every corner of her home was engulfed in damming flames. Tears ran down her face without rest. Everything was on fire. Every inch of her home was full of fire.
She crawled backwards as she sobbed.
Her hands were raw with wounds from trying to pry the door open. Screams flooded her ears in furious waves as the rest of her family was placed behind the door. Sobs wracked her small body as she sat choking.
Smoke demanded all the oxygen from her lungs. It was a horrific sight. A sight that was ingrained in her mind. The door wouldn’t open.
Not as her Mama cried
Not as her Daddy threw himself at the door
Not as her sister’s screams rang out threw the apartment
Not as the pillar fell on her back, causing her to cry out in pain. Not as her grip tightened around the soft yellow baby blanket that her Mama made.
As every picture.
Every memory.
Every moment with her family burned away.
In the span of one day, Y/ns life was gone.
And in the fire stood something, what it was, Y/n couldn’t be sure.
Its body was red like her blood. It was dressed in gold armor like an angel. It looked like an angel. Its wings shot up towards the sky in a rage, dancing with the flames. It was a beautiful, horrible sight.
It held onto its angelic face, slowly pulling it down. The beauty had vanished now as it revealed a bloodied skull.
It was her burning angel.
Her angel of rage was born.
She didnt cry while holding her angel’s gaze. Not as the firefighters pulled the pillar off her back. Not as they took her out of the flames. She just stared off in a daze at her angel.
“You cannot consider giving up to him, not to him!”
Reed “Mr. Fantatic” Richards
“She’s my chaos wrapped in designer shoes.”
“You want ice cream with those brownies?”
Sue “Invisible Woman” Storm
“Come on, surely it stretches?”
“I’ll race you around the world once little genius is born.”
Johnny “Human Torch” Strom
“You look like you need a nice long nap.”
“You’re forgetting your morals again.”
Ben “The Thing” Grimm
“It’s quiet here, everything is quiet here.”
“I’ll miss these talks if you never come back.”

MASTERLIST
Joel stood at the window, his heart pounding so hard in his chest that it felt as if it was about to burst.
Yet the day had started as usual, with Joel waking up early and gulping a cup of coffee while she was still sleeping, entangled in the comfortable blankets of the bed he shared. She couldn't sleep alone since the outbreak, for she was still heavily traumatized by her father's demise. Moreover, Joel didn't complain much when she had hopped into his bed "just for the night". Of course, it was a lie, and soon his bed also became hers.
The two of them had met one year ago, just before shit hit the fan. He had moved to town, seeking a quieter place after his troublesome divorce. He was unloading the grocery bags from his truck when his next-door neighbor and his pretty daughter greeted him. He got invited for dinner that same day and spent the whole evening cracking open a few cold ones, enjoying the company of another divorced dad. But what he had enjoyed the most, though he never admitted nor wished to think about it, was Her. The daughter. The vibrant, cunning, and misbehaving daughter who would always come up with something sarcastic, quickly followed by a bratty smile so irresistible that no one could feel truly offended.
Naturally, Joel had grown quietly fond of her as time passed, waiting impatiently for the next encounters, whether it took the shape of a shared dinner or the girl just passing by.
One outbreak later, he had become her protector, or rather her prison guard, as she liked to call him when she wanted to tease Mr. Grumpy. Quite deserved, considering he had been calling her "Kitten" from day one, for she reminded him of a stray cat Thomas O'Malley-style. Same arrogance and charming demeanor.
So how did he find himself in this situation? And, most importantly, why couldn't he do anything but peer at the living room, his jeans growing uncomfortably tight as his cock hardened?
Truly, he hadn't meant to watch her, hadn't meant to see her through the old dusty blinds of the cabin, but there she was, sitting fully naked and sprawled on the sofa with her legs parted shamelessly as her fingers worked between them. Joel's breath caught at the sight of the young woman's sleek fingers fondling her swollen clit, before they trailed down her wet folds and thrusted inside her pussy. The little wince Kitten made was all it took for him to guess how exquisitely tight she must feel.
What the fuck are you doing, Joel? You're a grown man, watching this girl like some sick pervert. Move.
He couldn't. Didn't want to. Not when she was fucking herself with that slow, almost lazy pace, her mischievous eyes closed and her sinful lips parted in a discreet moan. The way her fingers moved, coming out wetter each time, snatched a whispered "Fuck" out of him, barely audible.
His hand instinctively moved to his crotch, his cock painful, to palm himself through his jeans.
I should leave. I should fucking leave.
But Joel's eyes remained glued to her, taking in every detail, such as how her free hand played with one of her small breasts, or how she lifted her hips when she added another finger, pumping them in and out faster.
His throat went dry — he could see how wet she was. But what got him almost cumming his boxer briefs was how tight her little hole gripped her fingers. That was how he ended up imagining how it would feel to be inside her, thrusting slowly to stretch her pussy.
Kitten threw her head back and let out a loud moan, her body shaking like a leaf as she came, her toes curled and pussy clenching around her fingers. Breathless, she remained still for a short while, with her juice dripping down her tights. Joel gripped his crotch harder to tame the overwhelming arousal that made his cock throb.
He thought he was starting to handle it well when that fucking brat did something that nearly made him lose it. In fact, she pulled her fingers out and, without giving it a second thought, brought them to her lips to suck them clean, moaning softly as she tasted herself. Joel's vision blurred, another lustful warmth spreading in his lower belly.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
When she finally finished, Kitten stumbled out of the sofa and headed into the bathroom with shaky legs, leaving her panties and white tank top discarded on the floor. She knew Joel would come back home in any minute, so she told herself that she better get ready. Admittedly, moments of intimacy were scarce in this post-apocalyptic world, and it stood even truer for Joel and her, who were always together. That was how she came to claim those little moments of pleasure early in the morning, when the man needed some fresh air.
Joel's heart was beating so loud he swore she could hear it. Still partly hidden behind the window, he glanced around, making sure no one had caught him watching, before he opened the cabin's door loudly to make sure she had heard him.
"Morning," He grunted, trying hard to act normal.
"Sheesh, you still alive?" She said loudly through the bathroom's door.
"Very funny." Another grunt.
The wooden floor cracked under Joel's boots as he walked towards the pile of clothes she had left. His eyes rapidly caught sight of her panties lying there, a laced grey undergarment with a little bow at the front. However, his focus remained on the wet patch at the center of it.
Don't do that, Joel.
His body moved instinctively, promptly ignoring all morals. And though shame washed over him, Joel reached for the panties and picked the delicate fabric up with trembling fingers. They were still warm, still damp with her arousal. So warm he couldn't help but bring it to his nose and relish in her musky, sweet scent.
"Naughty kitten..." He said in a feverish whisper, intoxicated. A sigh escaped his lips, rough and filled with desire. Then, he pressed his face to it again, inhaling deeply before his tongue darted out almost timidly to taste the wetness. The flavor, combined with the memories of her slouched on the sofa with her legs spread and fingers working herself almost made him groan out loud.
However, the noises coming from the bathroom made him stiffen. Indeed, Joel heard that she was getting dressed and would come in any minute. Panic rushed through him and, immediately, he slid her panties into the pocket of his jeans and parted his lips to speak.
"Hey, Stray Cat. D'ya know that you took the blanket again last night? I couldn't fucking sleep properly."
"Am I supposed to care?" She beamed as she put on her combat boots, her voice joyful and sharp as always.
"All I'm saying is that it's your turn to walk the dog. So, go get lost in the forest and lemme catch a break."
And with that being said, the grown man hurried out of the living room and locked himself in the bedroom they share at the same moment Kitten flung open the bathroom door.
His cock was straining against the zipper of his jeans, desperate for relief.
"Okay, no need to be rude, dickhead." He heard her mumbling along with the clinking of the dog's leash and the beast’s happy barks that echoed in the cabin. "C'm'here Roscoe."
She left, taking the Doberman with her and wondering what the hell had gotten into the old man today.
When alone in the cabin, Joel finally relaxed a bit and leaned against the bedroom door, shoulders slouched and eyes closed for a minute. He still couldn't believe what had happened and how things had almost gotten out of control. Thank God she didn't catch him dumbstruck in the living room, with his nose buried in her panties. Speaking of which, he pulled his precious prize out of his pocket and lowered his dark eyes to stare at the damp spot where she’d been so damn wet. A flickering thought crossed his mind: what could have made her so aroused? What did she think about to finger herself so intensely?
Joel clenched his jaw, and while still clutching his protege's panties in one hand, he unbuckled his belt and unzipped his jeans with the other. When his girthy and long cock sprang free, he immediately wrapped his strong hand around himself. Fuck, he felt so hard and throbbing that it was almost painful, thick veins visible under his skin.
"Fucking brat."
He growled and gave himself a slow stroke all the way down. A shiver ran down his spine as he started to jerk off slowly at first, lazy snapping sounds resounding in the bedroom they shared. Right in front of the bed they slept in, usually all snuggled up. Joel shook his head, unable to recount how many times obscene thoughts had filled his mind when he watched her sleep in his arms.
You're disgusting. You're so fucking disgusting, Joel. You could be her dad.
The thought did nothing to clear his clouded mind; if anything, it got him off even more. Joel's breath started to shake audibly, and he brought Kitten's panties to his nose again, inhaling her, letting her wild scent fuel his arousal. His movements became slightly hastier as he did.
"I—I shouldn't..." He gritted his teeth.
But Joel needed more of her.
He pressed her panties against the leaking tip of his cock, smearing precum right over the damp spot she had left. Then, he let the fabric slid over him. A low moan rumbled in his throat at the exquisite sensation of the lace rubbing against his shaft and her wetness coating it. His hand moved faster. Christ.
Of course, guilt gnawed at him, she was a young thing he had promised to protect. Yeah, he had sworn it while staring at her father's eyes. How could he do this? How could he pleasure himself with her panties? Shame burned bright, but Gold helped; it made him harder. The flashes of her hips bucking as she came were unbearable. Even when he closed his eyes, he saw her spread out for him, her pussy stretched by his girthy cock —It was too much.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" He hissed, his strokes frantic.
Joel brought one hand to his forehead, feeling his balls tighten and his cock throb harder. He knew he was close.
The first thought that crossed his mind was that he had to throw her panties, but it was already too late. His entire body tensed, the orgasm ripping through him like Hell's fire.
"Kitten! Fuck!"
An awful amount of load shot out in thick ropes, soaking the fabric and mingling with her own wetness. And frankly, the feeling of spilling himself against that damn damp spot felt so good that he kept milking himself until every last drop was out.
When he stopped, his breath were ragged gasps and his forehead was drenched in sweat, light brown and grey curls sticking to his temples. It was only when he was done riding the high that he stared down at the undergarment in his hands: they were utterly ruined, dripping with his cum. Shame hit him full force.
What the fuck is wrong with you? he thought, trying hard to blame himself, but the trill of excitement that coursed through him couldn't be ignored.
He'd just crossed a line, and he knew it.
The door creaked open just as Joel had slumped on the old sofa, cleaning his hunting knife with an old rag he had found in a cupboard. When the sound of Kitten's voice echoed outside as she called the dog, he couldn't help but clench his jaw. She sounded so light and unbothered, as though she hadn't been gone too long and he hadn't paced the damn living room twice over, worried.
"Hey," the brat said as she stepped inside, her cheeks pink from the freezing wind, "Sorry, Roscoe found a rabbit trail. It took me forever to drag him back." She removed his harness, and the huge Doberman barked happily before heading to the rug to lie down.
Joel didn't say much; he just looked at her with his brows slightly furrowed.
She gave him a curious look before her eyes landed on the plate of food he had left on the table.
"Oh! You made grilled potatoes?" She grinned, flashing her too-pointy canine teeth, "You getting soft on me, Miller?"
He grunted, already coming back to cleaning his knife.
"They were gonna go bad."
Kitten shrugged and took the plate before she flopped down on the couch, kicking off her boots like an annoying snorty kid who just got back from the playground. She even had the scraped knees to fit the picture.
"You okay?" She asked between bites, watching through her long dark lashes while chewing loudly, "You're doing that thing again with your eyes."
"Hm?" He glanced at her briefly and she leaned closer in reply, her shoulder resting against his.
"Well, that thing where you look like you want to ground me for the rest of my life." A sparkle of arrogance gleamed in her eyes.
She was close. Too close. Joel put his knife on the living room table, took a deep breath, and rubbed a hand over his beard. Squeezing his eyes shut, he tried to forget about how her damp hair clung to her neck, how adorable her pink nose was. But he was especially trying to ignore that the hem of her t-shirt had risen and that he could see quite a lot of bare skin.
Joel stood up abruptly, walked to the rack and pulled one of his flannel shirts down. Then, without asking, he just draped it over her shoulders before sitting again.
"Told you to put on some more clothes when you go outside."
She blinked, surprised, then smiled. The fabric smelt of him and it was deeply soothing.
"Well, thanks, Daddy."
In reply to the nickname — which was very unwelcome after what he had seen and done — Joel gave her a sharp look, but Kitten’s smirk widened and she leaned into his side again, the warm plate on her lap.
"It's not a hug. You're just warm," she said, nudging him playfully with her elbow, "Guess I'll forgive the scowl."
Joel didn't respond nor move, he just sat there, a muscle ticking in his jaw as she slowly snuggled up against him until she was nuzzled under his arm.
Of course, she didn't feel the way his pulse quickened, or how his fingers curled into fists discreetly as though to stop his hands from doing something stupid.
How could she suspect anything?
She was just... Kitten.
And he was just a man trying very hard not to want what he shouldn't.
First time writing for Joel Miller / Pedro Pascal so I'd really appreciate if you reblog or comment. I was stuck with writing smut for months so I decided that him and Kitten (reader) are going to be my outlet to experience things without pressure.
a/n: So I’m back heheheheehe, yeah this took me a hot minute. But it’s back now. Yay!!!! Anyways there some more Bakugo and Kirishima in this. It is a slow burn though so yeah. Enjoys though!!
Y/n sat dutifully on the bar stool as Aizawa brought her coffee. The iced drink was quickly grabbed as he moved behind her. His hands moved through her h/c h/t gently as he began to style it. His longer fingers raked softly against her scalp.
The early morning birds chirped softly as the stove cooked eggs for the pair. The pan glowed softly as Y/n kept her hands in her lap. Her eyes remained focused tightly on the pan. Her hands shook softly as she itched to hold her hand out.
“Don’t. Focus, petal.” Aizawa mumbled. Pouting, Y/n sipped on her drink. She hated this training exercise; she thought it was stupid for so early in the morning. The pan continued to move by itself as she stared at it.
She hates this; she just wanted to eat. Aizawa sighed softly as he watched a drop of sweat roll down her forehead. He knew this wasn’t easy for her, but Y/n had so much power to use. They had barely scratched the surface, and everybody knew it.
She was so much stronger than is cared to realize. She was too obvious with her powers; she lacked control in every way. She was like an ocean of different tides. Huffing softly, the spatula flipped the eggs over.
“Shota! N/n!” Their front door opened with a jolt, and Y/n’s face brightened. Hizashi was walking, a white box under his arm. Y/n leaped up, ruining all Aizawa’s progress on her hair. Y/n trucked into Hizashi’s arms with a smile and hid in his chest.
“Uncle Zashi! What do you have?” She asked, peering up at him, the pan long forgotten.
“I brought you some treats from that bakery you like.” With a smile, Y/n took the box and sat back down. Without a question, she took one of the chocolate pastries out. She began to eat it as Aizawa sighed softly, fixing her hair once more.
“Hizashi, I thought I told you not to bring any treats when you decide to invade my house,” Aizawa mumbled as Y/n held up the coffee cake with her powers for him. Hizashi scoffed as he took over cooking the pair’s eggs.
“You keep her all sad without treats.” Hizashi scolded while taking the eggs off the stove. Aizawa stared blankly at the loud blonde’s back.
“You spoiled her and ruined our training exercise.” Y/n giggled once, mouth full of pastry. Aizawa sighed loudly as Hizashi placed the eggs in front of the pair. Reluctantly, the tired man sat down and began to eat.
“Uncle Zashi, will you finish my hair?” With a bright smile, the loud blonde moved over. The relaxed silence filled the air as the small family ate. Aizawa’s tired, dark eyes watched as Hizashi slowly fixed up the loose hair into a simple style that would fit with her hero costume.
Y/n sat there as she ate the mix of eggs and her pastries, smiling happily. The clock chimed softly behind them, her movements pausing. Her body went stiff as Aizawa’s eyes drifted to the old clock that had just one day appeared in their house.
“You’re going to be late! Late, I say! Late! Late! Late!” From under the table, the White Rabbit popped out. His watch in hand as he jumped about. Aizawa sighed softly, grabbing his scarf and Y/n’s shoes.
“Late! Alice! You’ll be late for school!” Y/n giggled softly as she ate the last of her pastries and eggs.
“I know White Rabbit, I’ll be fine.” The White Rabbit smiled softly, his ear twitching softly. She pet his head as she took the shoes and quickly placed them on. Hizashi handed the rabbit a small cake and patted his head.
“I’ll see you later, Mr. Rabbit.” The talking animal nodded with a smile and ducked right back under the table. His rabbit hole appeared, and he was gone, cake in hand.
“I still hate when they do that,” Aizawa mumbled as he grabbed his coffee. Y/n furrowed her perfect brows in confusion.
“Why? He keeps us on time.” Y/n giggled as the keys popped into her hands. Aizawa patted his pockets, then reached for the keys with a smile. Y/n handed them off as Hizashi came up behind them.
“Well, we don’t want N/n to be late, do we.” Hizashi handed the smaller girl her bag. Aizawa rolled his eyes fondly and followed his two crazies out the door.
…………….
Y/n hates reporters; they were always too loud, too pushy. How someone could choose that as their profession willingly was insane. As she pushed another camera and microphone out of her face, she sighed.
She’d been hiding for the most part behind her day. Aizawa had been pushing them away so they could reach the building.
“All Might’s not on campus today. Now get outta here, you’ve disturbed my students enough already.” Aizawa voiced as he hung off another microphone. Y/n huffed, annoyed as she clung onto his scarf.
She followed behind him as they walked inside the gates. She ate a pastry as Aizawa carried her cream and blue bag for her. She skipped through the world happily. She had a belly full of sugar, her hair was done all cute, nothing was going to ruin her mood now.
Her heels clicked against the floor with each step. Aizawa’s eyes drifted over to them, and he clicked his tongue.
“Dad, can I get my nails redone?” Her soft question raised his brow.
“Let me see them.” Without a moment spared, Y/n handed Aizawa her hands. The emails had just begun to grow out. The soft pink ombré with the golden heart charms showed the smallest bit of real nail.
“Sweetheart, you’ve had these for two weeks. They’ve barely grown out.” He told her as he began to walk away. Y/n huffed loudly and stomped past him, a pout on her fairytale-like face.
“But you can see my nails!” She whined, staring down at her nails. Aizawa just shook his head at her softly. Her brow pricked up, and she smiled softly.
“I’ll ask Uncle Zashi, or Auntie Nemuri, to take me, I know they’ll take me.” Aizawa’s face falls as he looks over at her. The sudden smirk that laced her face was an indication enough.
“I’ll book an appointment for this weekend.” He sighed. She jumped up and kissed his cheek.
“Thank you, Dad!” Aizawa rolled his dark eyes at her as they entered the class. She took her bag and sat back at her desk with a dreamy expression.
I’m getting my nails done! Should I get blue or green?
Y/n hummed softly as she looked up at the board. The tiny hearts she’d drawn on the board were still there. Small and not very prominent in the corner of the board.
“Decent work on yesterday’s combat training, you guys. I saw the video feeds and went over each of your team’s results.” Y/n perched up, turning her attention to her dad. He stood at his podium, looking over everyone. She remembered Tokoyami’s eyes on her. So confused, maybe even a little scared.
“Bakugo… you’re talented. So don’t sulk like a child about your loss, okay?” Bakugo was the blonde boy who called her weak. She scowled, her perfect face changing. He was the one the Queen of Hearts would love. With his explosive personality, she’d make him her head executor.
“Yeah, whatever.” His face was annoyed, like a child who hadn’t been given his favorite toy.
“And Midoriya. I see the only way you won the match was by messing up your arm again. Work harder. And don’t give me the excuse that you don’t have control over your quirk.” His face was downcast in disappointment, in himself. It oddly pained her heart.
“That line’s already getting old.” Aizawa scored once more. She wanted to giggle a little, but she used to break her body. Tear it apart even, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again! He always made her do it, too.
Just tearing, cracking, crying, screaming, begging….
Over and over and over an over and over and over again…
𝙴𝚗𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑! 𝙴𝚗𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑, 𝚜𝚠𝚎𝚎𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚛𝚕.
She turned her gaze back to the board, and small bits of color were floating around her wrist. Like bits of colorful lighting. Her fingers twitched ever so slightly as she rolled her wrist. For a second, Aizawa’s eyes drifted to her. She pulled at the ribbons in her hair, gently playing with them
“You can’t keep breaking your body while training here. But your qurik will be really useful if you can get a handle on it.” The compliment made Midoriya’s eyes sparkle in happiness.
“So show a little urgency.”
“Right!” Midoriya reminded her of the Mad Hatter in the sense that he got really happy over random things. There right amount of sugar in his tea, cupcakes, singing, and dancing.
“Let’s get down to business. Our first task will decide your future.” Her father’s want to scare these kids was kind of funny.
“Is it another quirk test?”
“You all need to pick a class representative.” She rolled her eyes softly.
“Oh, good. Just normal school stuff!”
“Pick me, guys! I wanna be class rep!” Kirishima yelled in excitement.
“I’ll take it!” Kaminari smiled at his own words.
“I’m totally the right pick.” One after the other, everyone in the class was yelling. She covered her ears gently with her perfectly manicured hands. Although grown a little out. This was a lot of noise for no reason. Class rep? Please, she would rather eat slugs.
Shoot slowly walked over to her desk, handing her his extra pair of earbuds. He gently pulled her hands from her ears. Placing each earbud in, she played some music for herself. It was full of songs from when they were little. A lot of Disney, it always seemed to help.
“Silence, everyone, please! The class representative’s duty is to lead others.” Iida announced loudly. She took out one earbud to listen. His voice was calm, collected, a bit robotic if anything. He was steady, like Aizawa. She liked his voice a lot.
“You must first have the trust of every student in the classroom. Therefore, the most logical way to fill this position is democratically. We will hold an election to choose our leader!” Fair enough.
“It’s pretty obvious you want us to vote for you.”
She watched Aizawa flop down in his yellow sleeping bag. She huffed softly as she went behind his desk, her pink and blue sleeping bag was there too. She could use a nap
………………………………
She didn’t like this anymore. Why did her name have two votes? She didn’t want to be class rep or vice rep. Midyoriya had three votes, but Y/n and Yaoyorozu each had two. How did this happen? She voted for Iida, not herself. She liked his voice; she wouldn’t mind hearing more of it.
“It’s a tie… You should do it, Y/n. You probably have more experience with U.A. meters.” Y/n turned her head to Yaoyorozu. Was she so insecure? Sure, Y/n was raised in U.A., but that did not mean she wanted to be in charge of her class.
“No. You can have it.” She went to turn around and grab a snack from her bag.
“No really, you should do it, I wouldn’t know what to do.” Snapping her head back, Y/n glared.
“No.” The class all seemed to shrink back. Her perfect face was all dark and cold. It was like a switch went off.
“Super creepy.”
Midoriya and Yaoyorozu now stood at the front of the class. Midoryia looked like he was about to faint. It was kinda pathetic. The way he was shaking so hard.
I’m hungry, I kinda want a fruit bowl.
………………………….
She ate quietly next to Shoto, Kirishima was still in the lunch line, and she wasn’t gonna wait to eat. She drank her tea while flipping through the book that floated in the air next to her.
“Y/n?” She looked up at him, into his opposite eyes.
“Yes, Shoto?” She smiled up at him, stealing some soba from his plate. Her fruit bowl was already gone, and she was still hungry. He passed her his tray without missing a beat.
“Why didn’t you want to be class rep?” She shrugged gently, picking over the food on his tray.
“Why would I want to be in charge of a bunch of people I barely know and care about?” Shoto nodded his head in agreement as his teacup floated over to him. She technically wasn’t supposed to use her quirk, but none of the teachers ever really stopped her.
“It would look good on you, though, why give up that chance?”
“Why does it matter?” She asked.
“Why wouldn’t it?” She huffed.
“Why do you care?” She asked, avoiding the question.
“Because even after all these years together, I still don’t always understand how your mind works. I want to be on the same page as you. I’ve been slowly catching up on chapters our whole lives… but I'm still behind.” Y/n froze for a while, not moving at all.
“I’m sorry, Shoto...” It was his turn to be confused.
“Why?”
“I’m not a good person.. I never meant to make you feel left behind. The truth is, you’re the first and only real friend I’ve ever had. Real human friend.” Shoot furrowed his brows, watching her. He hadn’t seen him like this many times. Aizawa wouldn’t bring her around. He always knew Y/n was different.
“I'm a selfish person; I don’t care for others. If it came down to you or them, they’re dead. Because I will always choose you. I'm so selfish because I don’t care about their lives. I’m not the one who will rush to protect them. They deserve some who will try. Try hard to keep them all safe.” Her words were timid, quiet.
“I’m not that person. I'm not the one to sacrifice everything for everyone… especially not when I don’t love them.”
Shoto stared at her, so small. Her eyes were so blank, void of life and understanding. She wasn’t this horrible person she’d constructed in her head. He reached for her hand, gently grasping it. Her gentle, soft, perfect hands.
He stared at her; her eyes were so… lost. She was just lost. Lost in her head. Lost in her heart. Lost in whatever world would always seem to take her.
The alarms blared above them wildly, flashing too. Before they could think, others were pushing and running. Shoto grabbed tightly onto her hand as they were pushed along. She groaned as she felt the others pull at her. Every step was another step further into chaos.
A boy with blonde hair pushed at her, and her hand slipped. Shoto gasped as he felt her slip away.
“Y/N!” She yelped as her body was forced away. It was like the rapids full of lightning eels in the dark swamp. She felt the world encroaching on her as more and more people shaved and grabbed from her to escape. Tears began to well up in her eyes as she felt it. Something was watching her, something dark and hateful. She looked around, staring at those who were pulling her.
Y/n couldn’t breathe; there was too much. Too much noise. Too many emotions all around her. Too much fear.
“Hey! Crazy chick!” Someone was gripping tightly onto her forearm. She jerked away, but he just yelled at her again.
“You wanna get pulled away again, brat!” She knew that gruff voice anywhere. The Queen of Hearts would be the favorite. She stared up at him, into his blood-red eyes
He was holding her…?
His arm was firmly placed around her, like some shield. He held her against the glass as the other pushed at his body. He didn’t move as he gave her space. She just stood against the wall, letting him hold her there.
“Stop it with that rainbow shit!” he growled, like a rabid dog. Not a rabid dog, just an angry one. Her hands were shaking. Her tears were still streaming down her face.
“Enough! Stupid brat, I get you out of there, and you cry! Some future hero you are! Crying, the second things get overwhelming!” He still yelled at her. She blinked up at him softly, through the e/c of her eyes. He scoffed loudly as he looked away.
“You know you’re like a dog.” His head snapped to her. A scowl was deeply rooted on his face.
“What!” She smiled at him so charmingly. It was unsettling how hand-drawn she looked sometimes. He just stared at her. There wasn’t an imperfection on her face. She even looked pretty when crying like a doll.
“You’re like a dog, a guard dog.” She giggled. A few seconds ago, she was crying.
“Excuse me! Shut your mouth!” She just stared up at him. Her hand found its way to his head, patting him softly. He froze, uncertain of what to do. Her finger ran through his locks like it was nothing. Like she wasn’t actively touching him.
“Listen up, everything is okay!” Her hand fell as all the other students stopped moving so much. Iida was above the exit sign, like a crazy person.
“It’s just the media outside. There’s absolutely nothing to worry about. Everything’s fine!” Iida yelled to everyone below. She stood against the glass calmly, not another tear in sight. No puffiness to her face. Nothing. Bakugo couldn't even tell she'd cried at all.
“We’re U.A. students. We need to remain calm and prove that we’re the best of the best.” The students around them began to stop, and they gave each other room. Bakugo let go of the glass and pulled away.
“I’m the best of the best, nothing like all these extras.” He mumbled. Then he just walked away, like he had just been her human shield. Y/n moved from the glass as she felt a familiar cold hand on her wrist.
“Y/n! Are you okay!” Shoto’s panicked words brought a smile to her face.
“Yeah, I got to pet a guard dog.”
………………………………..
Sitting back at her desk was a huge bore; she hated it. It was a boring color, no details, no fun patterns. Nothing. It was so bland, so of this world. She wanted food, her lunch after all had been rudely interrupted.
“It’s time, class rep. Let’s begin.” Yaoyorozu began as they both stood in the front of the class. Y/n was so bored with all of this. She didn't want to be here anymore.
“Okay, so we need to figure out who the other class officers will be.” Midoriya nervously shook as he spoke. She rolled her eyes so softly at him while she dug through her bag. She was out of snacks. Shoot and Y/n hadn’t gone snack shopping in a full week. Endeavor hadn’t paid for a snack run in a full week.
I don’t have any snacks on me at all! I’m going to die of hunger!
Y/n turned to Shoto, her eyes saddened. He simply lifted his brow at her. He looked at her empty bag, then at her empty hands.
“But first, there’s something I wanna say. I’ve thought a lot about this, and I think Tenya Iida should be our class rep!” She fully turned her head to the front.
She giggled to herself, she liked Iida, she wouldn’t mind him as class rep. He was calm and collected, like a steady stream of water.
“He was able to capture everyone’s attention and get us in line. So I believe that he should be the one leading our class from now on!” Midoryia finished smiling at Iida.
“Yeah, you know what?” Kirishima began, “If Midoriya vouches for him, I’m good. Plus, he was a big help. He totally manned up and took charge, right?”
She looked over at Iida, his face full of surprise. His eyes caught Y/n’s soft smile, and he returned it. Iida was the person whom others could count on.
“Yup! Oh! Did you notice he looked like the dude on the emergency exit signs when he was on the wall earlier?” Kaminari voiced, turning to Kirishima. Iida’s face only grew in happiness. He was that person.
“This is a waste of time. I don’t care who the rep is, just hurry up.” Aizawa sat up in his sleeping bag, annoyed. Y/n furrowed her brow, she wished to were taking a nap. She watched Iida stand up, his posture straight, arms at his side.
“If Midoriya is nominating me for this job, then I humbly accept. I pledge to carry out the duties of class rep to the best of my abilities!” Iida announced, making his way to the podium. She smiled at him. he was perfect for this.
………………………….
“Papa? What do you think of my class so far?” Y/n asked as she slurped up her udon noodles. Aizawa looked up from his papers tiredly. Hizashi smiled at her as he filled his cup with orange juice, the cantanor levitating in the air.
“Yeah, Aizaawa, what do you think of them?” Hizashi egged on. Rolling his eyes, Aizawa shook his head.
“They’re interesting, a few have more of a grasp on their powers than others.” She nodded her head. Midoriya was like glass with his quirk; he could break at any second. While Shoto and Bakugo held their quirks so close to their hearts.
“Where do I stand in that regard?” Both adults turn their gaze to her. Her hands were in her lap, a light tremor in her arms. Y/n sat small; she only ever did that when she was afraid. Small… she hated feeling so small.
“You are the most well-trained out of them all.” Y/n scoffed at her father’s words. She ate for a few seconds, not meeting their gaze. She stared down into the muted colored brother.
“You’re just saying that because I’m your daughter and you’re trying to make me feel better.” Aizawa fully looked at her. He set down his papers and chopsticks.
“He’s not just saying that, cupcake, tell her, Shota.” Hizashi urged. Aizawa looked at Y/n, small and scared.
“Y/n, sweetheart, would you please look at me?” Slowly, she looked up through her cloudy eyes.
“I’m not just saying this to make you feel better, there is no one in your class who is on your level. You’ve been trained your whole life by pros; most of these kids haven’t. Not only are you well trained, but your quirk alone puts you one other level.” She just moved her food around. She was a ticking time bomb, and she knew it.
“Papa? Uncle Zashi? And I… strange?” She looked at her family softly.
“Strange in what way?” Aizawa replied.
“I dunno, just strange.”
“Hell yeah, you are!” Her face froze as she looked at her uncle. She was strange. Nothing like the girls in her class. They weren’t strange. Aizawa went to smack Hizashi on the back of his head.
“You’re strange in a way no one can replicate. You’re unique in the sense that it makes you special. You’re crazy in an incredible way.” She smiled softly, a bit bashful as she looked down.
Aizawa watched her eat in silence after that. Y/n was a normal girl. She was strange. She was a whirlpool of emotions. She was a mass of untapped power. She was something no one could quite define.
He loved her all the same, strange as she was.
…………………………………..
“Today’s training will be a little different. You’ll have three instructors. Me, All Might, and another faculty member will be keeping tabs on you.” Aizawa started. He already told Y/n where they would be going.
“Sir! What kind of training is this?” Sero asked, raising his hand high. Y/n laid her head down softly. This was all so tiring. She didn’t like real school. She preferred homeschool, and she could just lie in her bed. She could just sit around without much issue.
“Rescue. You’ll be dealing with natural disasters, shipwrecks, stuff like that.” All at once, everyone began to talk. Waves and waves of noise just invaded her ears. She rolled her shoulders as she grabbed a pack of gummies from her bag.
Thank Shoto for loving to use his father’s money to buy me snacks
She began to shove the gummies in her mouth without a care in the world. The blue ones were her favorites. And the red ones, they looked like rubies.
“Guys, I’m not finished yet.” The class immediately went quiet. “What you wear in this exercise is up to you.”
Y/n allowed herself to look up at her father. Her costume was perfect now. Every little thing was perfect.
“I know you’re excited about costumes, but keep in mind that you haven’t gotten used to them yet, and they might limit your abilities. This special training’s at an off-campus facility, so we’ll be taking a bus to get there.” Aizawa continued. Y/n watched as the costumes pushed out of the walls.
“That’s all. Start getting ready.” As Aizawa left the class, Y/n remained in her seat. She watched as Shoto stood, grabbing her costume for her. As he stood next to her, she held up a blue gummy. Slowly, he lowered his neck, taking the candy off her fingers.
Soft squealing came from the girls behind them. Y/n paid them no mind as she grabbed her bag. She wasn’t sure why they were doing that. She allowed Shoto to walk her to the girls’ locker room without much of. Thought.
Blue gummies would float through the air towards his mouth. Shoto would bite them out of the air.
“Shoto, do you think we could get matcha after school?” Shoto nodded his head at her softly.
“That one cafe that sells those chocolate pastries you like?’ Y/n smiled wildly as he handed her the case with her costume.
“Yes, please! I love their sitting area too!” Her excitement bounced off the walls.
“I have the black card.” She giggled softly as she opened the girls’ locker room door. Shoto closed his eyes, his caterpillar-like eyes. Y/n smiled. She loved his eyes.
“See you on the bus, sparkles.” She smiled, entering the locker room. She dropped her stuff in her locker and quickly changed.
“Y/n! You two are so perfect!” Mina squealed as she crashed into her. Y/n furrowed her brows, allowing her skirt to fall.
“What do you mean?” The other girls laughed for a second. Had she said something wrong? Was she being strange again?
“You and Todoroki, you are so unbelievably perfect with one another. It’s like you can read each other’s minds!” Tsu spoke with a small ribbit at the end. Y/n tilted her head as she pulled her boots up. She somewhat understood.
Shoto was just always with her; it was only natural that they picked up on things. He only likes the blue and green gummies. He didn’t like the heat. He preferred cold soba to hot. He liked all his drinks iced. He only drank the tea she gave him; he didn’t like kettles.
“I suppose we are perfect,” Y/n answered fixing up her hair. As the girls all giggled in delight, she had just finished dressing herself.
She moved away from them all, her eyes on the door ahead.
“Y/n, you do understand what we mean, right?” Tsu asked, walking next to her.
“Of course, Shoto and I are perfect friends.” Tsu raised a soft brow but didn’t object. They were perfect. Everything about their friendship was perfect.
………………………………….
This bus ride wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be. She had some cookies on her lap. Earbud in her ears, and Photo’s warm hand on her stomach. It sent warm heat waves through her body, easing every cramp. Her period had snuck up on her just before they left the school.
The bus had pulled out when she yelled for them to stop. Aizawa, of course, allowed her back into the school, even gave her to option to stay. Y/n wanted to go to the rescue facility. So she put a pink pad on and sat back on the bus.
“Well, if any of our classmates have pro quirks, it’s Todoroki, Y/n, and Bakugo.” Y/n gently raised her head. Kirishima was looking over at her. His eyes looked like red carnelian; she liked those gems. Not like Bakugo’s angry blood rubs, but softer carnelian.
“Sure, but Bakugo’s always angry, so he’ll never be that popular,” Tsu commented without a care. A small giggle fell from her lips at the frog girl’s words.
Tsu is funny, I think I’ll take care of that one
“What’d you say? I’ll kick your ass!” Bakugo held the bar, and he stood up. She giggled some more as she took a bite out of the chocolate chip cookie.
“You see?” Tsu was funny and didn’t seem to care for the armory guard dog about to jump at her.
“You know, we basically just met you. So it’s kinda telling that we all know your personality is flaming crap mixed with garbage.” She didn’t like that. That wasn’t nice.
“You’re nothing but a useless piece of garbage! You hear me! You are my greatest failure in this life!”
She didn’t like those words at all. They were too close to… his words.
“You’re gonna regret that day you applied to this school, you loser! I’ll kill you!” Bakugo yelled. She smiled at him. At least his ego was big enough to keep other voices at bay. Not that she thought his emotions were steady. The read she got off his was so unchanging. Like a mountain or something. He was constant. So sure of himself, Y/n liked that a lot.
“Hey, Hey, we’re here. Stop messing around.” Aizawa’s dark eyes cast a look at Y/n. She nodded her head, already knowing what he was thinking. pain relief was in his teacher’s bag, she could sit out at any time, and he didn’t care if she snacked.
Yes sir
“Whatever.”
Unloading the bus went smoothly, and Iida’s instructions helped. He directed everyone with such ferocity. Thirteen waited for them at the entrance. Thirteen was always fun to play with when Y/n was little. She taught her about all the constellations and different planets.
“Hello, everyone, I’ve been waiting for you!” Thirteen sounded a bit robotic. Just slightly, though, it was fun. The class all gasped in excitement. Y/n smiled; they seemed to do that a lot.
“I can’t wait to show you what’s inside.”
This is gonna be awesome!”
As they walked in, amazement struck Y/n; she loved U.A., she had been to almost all the facilities at one point or another. This one was one like she had never seen before. They must have remodeled it.
Y/n smiled as she listened to her classmates. To was like being at Hatter’s tea party. Every event was always so much fun to be at.
“Holy crap! It looks like some kind of amusement park!” Kirishima roared happily.
“It does look cool!” Y/n looked up at him with a smile. Kirishima returned it. Shoto stood at her side, quiet and watching every interaction.
“A shipwreck. A landslide. A fire. A windstorm. Et cetera. I created this training facility to prepare you to deal with different types of disasters.”Y/n looked around once more. Some was wrong, the world grew colder, it seemed.
"Gₒ!"
"ᴸᴱᴬⱽᴱ!"
Her head hurt as they screamed at her. Something was wrong with this place.
“I call it the Unforeseen Simulation Joint! But, you can call it USJ!” She stared at the fountain at the center of the facility. The air looked wrong. Like it had begun to fold in on itself.
Just like Universal Studios Japan
She watched as he dad went to speak with Thirteen. Maybe he says it, too? Maybe she was just being crazy. Thirteen holding up three fingers was odd. Was it about All Might, after all he wasn’t here yet.
He had done a bunch of hero work before; she should have left him some tea in the teacher’s lounge. She would’ve if her hands had gotten her period. Her stomach’s hurting again.
“The clocks are ticking. We should get started.” Y/n watched her dad lean into the wall. She was just crazy. She hadn’t slept enough… that was all. There wasn’t anything wrong at all.
As if sensing her panic, Shot reached for her hand. He softly squeezed her palms. She blinked softly, still unfocused.
“Excellent. Before we begin, let me just say one thing. Well, maybe two things. Possibly three, four, or five.” Y/n rolled her eyes. Thirteen was a chatterbox.
We get it
“Listen carefully. I'm sure you’re aware that I have a powerful quirk. It’s called Black Hole. I can use it to suck up anything and turn it into dust.” Y/n tore her gaze back to the fountain. Something wasn’t right.
"𝔊𝔢𝔱 𝔬𝔲𝔱 𝔬𝔣 𝔱𝔥𝔢𝔯𝔢 𝔯𝔦𝔤𝔥𝔱 𝔫𝔬𝔴!"
"𝙳𝚊𝚛𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚐, 𝚙𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚎 𝚐𝚘 𝚛𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝 𝚗𝚘𝚠!"
“Yeah, you’ve used Black Hole to save people from all kinds of disasters before, haven’t you?’ Midoriya voiced. Y/n took a step away from her class. Thirteen didn’t acknowledge it. Y/n was known for being in a world of her own. Her hand slipped from Shoto’s. He watched her.
Aizawa opens one eye to watch her. Slowly, she crept closer and closer to the edge of the staircase. He sighed softly. He wasn’t sure what was up.
“That’s true, but my quirk could very easily be used to kill.” Y/n froze… Kill? That was what she was supposed to do. Kill… kill…kill. That’s all she did once.
The world around her was blaring as she stared. The air was wrong, something was wrong with his place, she could feel it, it caused the hair on hr body to stand up. She felt it watching her so many times. And every time it is ignored out of fear. Without a care, she prayed to be wrong. She never was..
“Some of you also have powers that can be dangerous. In our superhuman society, all quirks are certified and stringently regulated, so we often overlook how unsafe they can actually be.” Y/n could barely hear thirteen now. Y/n’s quirk wasn’t properly registered; the school couldn’t do it that way.
The air was evil as she stared. Aiziawa watched and moved off the wall. Her eyes were glazed over.
“Hey. Kiddo, what is it?” He whispered, leaning down to her ear. Y/n didn’t answer.
“Do you not feel good? You can go take a nap if you need to…“ he offered softly.
“Please don’t forget that if you lose focus or make the wrong move, your powers can be deadly. Even if you’re trying to do something virtuous, like rescue someone. Thanks to Aizawa’s fitness tests, you have a solid idea of your quirks potential. And because of All Might’s combat training, you likely experienced how dangerous your powers can be when used against other people.” A shudder went through her body.
“They’re’s something evil in the air.” Y/n whispered back, her voice shaking. Aizawa gently held her shoulder as he stared down at her.
“What? What do you mean?’
“Something evil is here, and it’s not me.” Aizawa looked back at the rest of his students in confusion.
“Carry those lessons over to this class. Today, you’re going to learn how to use your quirks to save people’s lives. You won’t be using your powers to attack enemies or each other, only to help.” Y/n felt Aizawa’s grip tighten on her shoulder.
“Sweetie, what are you talking about?” His voice was slightly raised, not in anger.
“After all, that’s what being a hero is all about. Ensuring the safety of others. That’s all I have to say. Thank you so much for listening.” Y/n hadn’t been listening. Aizawa looked back at his students. His hand was still on her trembling shoulder. She hadn’t been this scared in a long time. The last time she had such a look on her face was when he met her.
“Right. Now that’s over.” Aizawa began, but electricity crackled all around them all at once. Lights dimmed, and the fountains began to malfunction. And there it was.
A black warp slowly began to form where the waterfall was. Like the mark of death itself, he watched as it grew. She took a step back, back into Aizawa. This couldn’t be real.
Aizawa gasped as he watched it explode, a single pale hand leave it. Aizawa stared at it, it looked like the thing around Y/n when he first found her. But black and… cold.
A single face forced it way out, a pale man with pale blue hair. Hands covering his body, some kind of demon he was. No of her breed.
“Stay together and don’t move!” Aizawa yelled as he moved Y/n over to Shoto.
“Thirteen, protect the students!” A gasp of terror fell from Y/n’s body as she watched. One by one, more and more filled out of the warp. One that looked so familiar. Evil, this was.
“Whoa, what is that thing?” Her heart began to pound in her chest. This couldn’t be real.
“Wait, has the training started already? I thought we were rescuing people.” Kirishima asked, taking the smallest step forward. Y/n launched forward, grabbing at him. She pulled him abound her. She grabbed Midoriya, too, while she was at it.
“Stay back!” Aizawa yelled as he put on his googles. Y/n didn’t like that.
“This is real. Those are villains.” She now gasped in fear. Monsters had found her again. Monsters she killed. Buried in her graveyard of the dammed.
Her over grave had long since been dug. Next to them, dammed right next to them all.

Act II : The Fold
Chapter Eight
It was nightfall, the clouds has blocked the moon from view. The letters lay heavy in her lap. There was only one she truely wanted to open. Her lovely Drazan who had never once swayed from her loyalties. The letter on tea stained paper smelt of pine. Opening the letter it read.
To my beloved amber,
The days grow shorter every day that I am not in your presence. All is well enough here, worry not. I’ve taken charge of the youngling’s classes as you requested. Niko has been helping me a great deal. He misses you, I think he still blames himself for your leaving. Lord Egon is still devastated and unmoved. He refuses to join in any of the celebrations. I suppose he only ever enjoyed them because you did. He runs council adequately enough.
I fear for him sometimes, the other masters grow more brazen with each passing day. Master Kai has demanded my sister’s hand. Arabella has tried to sway our father but to no real avail. I will soon plead my case to Lord Egon, I know he would act in our favor. Master Kai is relentless in his pursuit of her, my little rose bud. I fear for her sometimes, that I will awake and she will be gone.
I don’t truly know what to do, it would be easier if you were here. You’d fixed this whole thing and probably kill Kai for us. On a happier note Adam has found himself a bride, she’s quite the gem. They are due to be married in the coming year. You would like her, she rather feisty, and always challenging him. She never wins but it gives us all a good laugh.
Kheli is all the same, he still teaches the youngling’s dance class. He was always more particular about dance than our blades. He has yet to ask Adara to dance with him. It’s rather pitiful to watch. She is always staring right at him too. It’s amazing how much a coward some can be. How I can be
Nevertheless almost everything is well. I fear you will be called back soon. I know you’re busy in the ravkan army. Why you decided to join will never be understood by the others. I hope Alina and Mal are well. I’m sure you’re all still catching up a ton. How’s Maja? I’m sure she misses the smoked meats I would bring her. I miss you greatly. I’m sure we will see one another soon.
With all my Love, your Devoted Helios
Drazan Vlaev
Y/n sighed into the air of the night. She too missed Drazan, he was a rare light in her life. The saint herself must’ve sent him to her. She looked about the camp without a care. All these soldiers knew nothing of her faith.
They all looked down at her, like she was less than them for it. A faith they didn’t understand. Cultist they all whispered as she walked. Like she was a mad for believing in a higher power. They had saints, why couldn’t she have just one.
The Sol Saint was one of prophecy, they had to believe in a being that didn’t exist yet. All Helios were bound by blood to this saint. No one would deny her faith. She bled, She killed she loved, and she would betray anyone for her saint. Those were the sacrifices of a Helios.
But deep within her mind, she pondered . Could she sacrifice Alina? Could she sacrifice Mal? Could she sacrifice all those she cared, dear to her heart? For something she wasn’t even sure it was real. Would she do it? This was the kind of question she should be asking herself. She was a Helios first before anything. Before a sister, before a daughter, before a friend.
She had earned the title that had been bestowed upon her .
The Blood Helios, none who ever encountered her had left with their lives. She bathed in their blood by herself. And then offered it upon the altar of her saint.
She was the Blood Helios, and no one would deny it.
She stood next to Mal as the Skiff was boarded. Maja sat obediently as her side, her snout raised high in the air. Y/n rolled her soldiers hand off her gun to Mal. She pet the soft curls of Maja’s white fur. With the soft roll of her shoulders the armor poured down her body.
From her neck it came like silver tears, slowly enveloping her body. Mal raised his brow as she took the gun back. He stares in awe along with the others whom had never seen the cultist in her armor. Y/n moved to the front where Natacha stood, the Inferni in charge of this skiff.
“Looking as lovely as always.” Y/n smiled at the dark skinned woman before her.
“You’re not to shabby yourself.” The words were soft. The pair had become akin to friends. They often flirted softly with one another, truly it was all playful banter. Y/n turned her head, Alina was on the skiff. What in the world was she doing her.
Y/n quickly moved over, her small family was arguing quietly. Maja’s eyes followed Alina and Mall tenderly.
“Alina get off this fucking Skiff.” Y/n grabbed into the girls arm. Alina smirked triumphantly and moved past her.
“Tell them you’re too sick to go.” Mal pleaded.
“I’m never that sick.” Alina argued.
“Lie if you have to!” Y/n gripping tightly into Alina.
“And what’s your lie? I’m with you.” Y/n shared a look with Mal. She gently pushed her sister it to his side.
“Mal, fix this.” Y/n then turned around, her blood boiling. She smelt the smirk coming off his sister. How stupid could she been. She could all but feel the vibrations of anger coming off the other cartographers. What has her sister done.
Natacha sent her a small look of concern as Y/n stood back by her side. Y/n’s eyes never left Alina’s. She clicked her tongue, Maja moved to her side. The large wolf sat down and growl at any soldier that got too close to her. Natacha clapped her hands moving forwards, Y/n followed suit.
“Here’s how it goes. We go into the Fold, it gets dark but we like it dark. That keeps us from drawing attention. That’s how we travel. The only light we use is the blue one at the mast.” Y/n kept her eyes on Alina. She looked so defenseless standing alone.
“It’s weak but safe.” Natacha continued.
“But you’re an Inferni, right? So why are you here if we’re supposed to keep things dark?” Raisa asked. Y/n rolled her eyes at the stupid question, cartographers were the smartest.
“For when the dark comes to keep you.” Raisa raised her brow.
“And what’s about the Cultist?” Y/n turned her gaze to the cartographer leader.
“For when we cannot defeat dark with fire, we send in someone who will devour the darkness.” Natacha’s voice carried an emblem of anger. The other soldiers turned to her with fear in their eyes. Y/n saw the small smirk that was sent her way.
Natacha never ceased to amuse her, and to feed into the cultist, rumors that many believed about her.
“Where’s your general? Kirigan?” Mal asked. Y/n blinked a few times at the mention of the Darkling. He could stay in the dark where he bathed. The skiffs sail was released and the skiff jutted forwards.
“That’s our cue.” Natacha and Y/n moved in sync. Y/n now stood at the front of the skiff and Natacha by the blue light. From above the squaller began to move the skiff towards the fold.
Natacha sent a small nod towards Y/n, with a smile the Helios moved towards her sister’s side. Y/n stood in front of her as the small ribbon holding her hair back came loose. From the front the sergeant began to speak, but these words did not matter in her mind.
Alina was on a skiff, Mal was in this skiff. The two people she never wanted to see the inside of the fold. The heavy winds blew her hair back, the ribbon followed off. Y/n barely turned her head to look at it. Alina’s scarf had too come off.
She watched the two pieces of fabric float through the wind. Her eyes followed them till they passed the dock. On the dock a man stood, shrouded in black. He watched the skiff so intently, Y/n knew he couldn’t she see herself staring back at him.
It didn’t matter, as Alina sough out her armored hand. Y/n clutched it softly as Mal. came to her side.
“I’m pretty sure this the first time I’ve seen you all armored up.” Mal’s words should’ve brought a smile to her face. It didn’t.
“In we go.” Natacha mumbled. Y/n reached to her side, pulling out the small cuff. It was of pure gold and has a sun rested in its middle. She placed it in her forearm. The metal infused with her silver armor, a soft glow embroidered it.
From her hand a crossbow of light emerged, an arrow already knocked in it. The glow died down quickly as she raised the crossbow. She took in a deep breath and closed her eyes. Alina and Mal were now her top priority. All others could be forsaken.
The darkness enveloped her body, it as oddly warm to her. It encased her, welcomed her home as it always did. Opening her eyes she listened to the growling of the Volcra that flew around them. She could feel every vibration they caused. Terror coated Alina’s face as she clung onto Y/n.
As the skiff moved slowly, Y/n watched the darkened sky’s. When the first marker approached she rolled her shoulders. The holy cuff didn’t shine as it did in the sunlight. It was muted now, but no less dangerous.
“Marker one.” Natacha voiced as she passed the two sisters. Alina looked behind her to the Inferni.
“How many more are there?” Y/n opened her mouth to soothe her sister. Not many Y/n would lie.
“Thirty seven.” Natacha said walking away. Y/n sighed softly as she watched Alina’s face drop. Mal looked back at the two sisters. With a nod from Y/n he tore his gaze away. The anger Y/n felt was all the same, Alina should not be there.
The volcra above screeched and growled as they flew. The rhythmic vibrations of there wings was enough to lull Y/n to sleep. It seemed to push at her eyelids, to force them down. She could never listen to closely to the volcra or she would sleep.
Raisa’s accusatory gaze found Alina’s as they passed a fallen ship. A particularly loud growl frightened the gunman into to ready positions. Y/n remained where she was. She pushed Alina to sit on the floor as she joined the grisha. They moved about the skiff quietly, but no where near as silent as Y/n.
With all the armor on she was still as silent as snow. Slowly the blue light began to go out. Natacha moved to it quickly, hitting the glass. Y/n quickly moved next to her and opened the lantern. She sprinkled in a soft blue powder from a small pouch at her side. She blowed softly on it, the blue flame caught once more.
Natacha and Y/n shared a calm look for a few seconds till the sound of a lighter interrupted the peace. Y/n whipped around to see one of the soldiers holding a lit lantern. A tremble seemed to be through the air.
“Blow it out! What are you doing?” Natacha whispered, there was a tremor in her. From behind the boy came growling. Horrible, gut wrenching growling. From behind the boy a Volcra rose to its full height. Y/n shot out the golden arrow from her bow quickly.
The Volcra screeched and flew away with a limp. It was all too late though. Another Volcra swarmed down, grabbing the boy. It bit down onto his leg and flew off no matter how many arrows she shot. The lantern fell down, its fire quickly emerging across the wooden boards.
From all around the Volcra growled. Y/n looked back at Alina, she was crouching next to the fire. Y/n stood in front of her sister, crossbow knocked with another arrow. Like the demons they were the Volcra swept through the skiff. The squaller moving the skiff was gone next.
Y/n began to fire automatically, each golden arrow erupted in sunlight when piercing the flesh of the Volcra. They reappeared after every shot fire. Raisa was gone next, the Volcra having taking a bite of her shoulder. The blood drips onto her face as the Volcra carried her away. Y/n dropped down, shielding Alina as the side broke down in flames.
Y/n stood back up her hands going back to her cross bow. She fired each arrow as a body fell next to her. Alina’s vibrations were quivering as she shrunk away from the man’s still moving corpse. Y/n coughed as smoke rose up. Her helmet slowly infused into her neck.
Y/n pulled the thing off, she needed to be able to see Alina. Her eyes drifted for a seconds to Mal. A Volcra swept over him dangerously close. Y/n shot out an arrow. It wasn’t fast enough. Mal ducked before the Volcra could grab him. The crossbow disappears in a buff of gold as she reached down.
She pulled the twin daggers from her side, lodging them into a Volcra that swept too close to her. They cried out in pain as she raised her hand, the daggers flying back to their master. This was a suicide mission and Y/n knew it. Not many would survive this.
Y/n looked down at Alina for a seconds. She knelt down and handed her sister a dagger.
It was a subtle plead.
“Don’t move.” She commanded as she moved away. She couldn’t let all these people die, it would be a shame to her abilities if she couldn’t save them. Her dangers flew from her hands and came back. It was like a dance as she moved quickly around the skiff, killing any Volcra in her path.
Maja barked wildly, attacking all the Volcra in sight. The ones that got to close to her and Alina that was. Her teeth were coated in black.
“Come at me! Come at me you cowards!” Natacha screamed as a Volcra took her by the shoulder. Y/n threw herself forward towards the Volcra. Her dagger flew into its neck as she tore its head from its body. It’s blackened blood sprayed all over her as she caught Natacha in her arms.
She was breathing hoarsely, there was a hold in her neck. Y/n pushed her hands into the large wound on her shoulder. Tears flooded her eyes, this wasn’t happening. Natacha had always been kind to her. Didn’t care for her extreme faith.
“No no no no no no! NO! Don’t close your eyes!” Y/n held her friends tore body as she died. Her blue kefta was destroyed as she laid down her body. This wasn’t supposed to happen, not to them. Y/n stood up and her daggers formed into large swords. They sliced the Volcra clean in half before two grisha.
Y/n heard screaming, Mal’s screams. She turned around, sweat and blood dripping down her face. She threw herself forward quickly. Blood seemed to envelope her vision as she stabbed into the flying demon. Mal’s body dropped down as Y/n pieced its wings. The stupid animal dropped down, its blood all over her. Y/n coughed as the blood dripped into her mouth.
She crawl desperately over to Mal, who was held by Alina. She hadn’t protected them like she promised. She failed them. She gripped into Mal’s other hands as the chaos continued around them. She could feel his vibrations, they weren’t as strong as normal.
She failed.
Tears covered his face as she whispered his name, “Mal?” Maja whined softly and licked the side of his face.
The fire flickered around, its lights illuminating her face. The two sisters clung into him as nothing else seemed to exist. Her mouth tasted of iron and rot. She could help but sob as she held him. Her family, her small family was about to be smaller.
His vibrations echoed in her ears as she sniffled. Alina cried at her side as they held him. They two refused to let go of him. Her armor fell she clung to him, his skin to buzz. She felt a ringing in her ears, like a twinkle.
“I’ll meet you two at the meadow.” His words froze her sobs as he spoke. She couldn’t let such a thing happen. She cried softly as she felt wind blow around her. Alina was pulled up, a volcra’s claws around her waist. No……
Y/n still clutching Mal’s hand threw herself up. Her bare hand caught into Alina’s, fear and panic all over her face. It was warm, as she clung into her family her body became warm. A light began to grow out of her body and she clung to them.
Light exploded from her body, the overwhelming sensation grew as another source of light grew with her. It surrounded around the skiff, throwing the shadows back from the world. Then her world was blank.
Everything was foggy, her vision, her hearing her mind. She could feel every vibration around them. The heavy hands around her, as her legs laid limp. They dragged her to gods know where. She was bleeding, somewhere in her body she was bleeding. Probably her leg, it felt like it was on fire.
Where was Alina.
Where was her sister…..
Well her saint she supposed. She watched it happen, her sister could summon light. Alina has saved them all. What was left of them she guessed.
She could hear the loud and quickly movement of the guards, the healer that ran next to them.
“Mal…. Lina…..Maja….” She coughed as she felt a bone boop back into place.
“Careful! Are going to hurt her dragging g her like that!” The healers voice was timid but loud. The men dragged her didn’t listen as she moved. Her ears rung, she could feel the blood dripping down her ears. Her armor was covered in a thick layer of blood.
Maja barked loudly as she followed. The men tried to kick at her. Y/n jerked away ready to kill them for trying to hurt her wolf. Maja growls as she followed them. Her fur was covered in black. Y/n knew how much she hates to be messy. She would give her sweet girl a nice hot bath once this was over.
She opened her eyes to a fuzzy worlds. Grisha moved out of her way, dread coating their faces. She must’ve looked like animal, wounded and bloody. Her hair fell, covering her face.
“Where is she?” The healer squeaked at the sound of her voice, rough and dangerous. The young healer and blinked a few times as she held her hands together.
“Behind us,” She paused looking at the man dragged Y/n. “Stop dragging her like that! You’re going to break her arm.” They did not listen as the healer followed them. The black tent was moved aside and she was forced in. Her knees hit the ground, her armor clanking. She coughed for a seconds and took in a breath.
She focused herself, listening to the vibrations of the world. A hush has fallen over the tent. It opened once more and she felt Alina. Her eyes jumped open as she felt her sister pull away from the guards. Alina’s trembling hands wound around her shoulder. The cold bits of armor touching her sister’s skin.
Y/n hugged her sister tightly, her hand resting atop her head. Alina smelt of smoke, not the normal scent. Her legs and body was weak. But she smiled at Alina as the girl pulled back.
“Bring them closer.” Her eyes snapped to the voice before her. He stood, back to them as guards grabbed into the girls. Her elbow forced its way to a guards face when her tried to grab Alina. She stood on her shaking legs, hiding her sister behind her.
She took a small step for them, Alina clung to Y/n. Her smaller frame hidden behind the grime covered armor of her sister. Y/n would not let this man anywhere near her sister. Her…. Her saint.
Slowly the man turned, her eyes went blank. It was him. The Darkling, The black general, the shadow summoner. He was the man who plagued her dreams. His dark eyes were the ones that she would think about.
Alina grabbed onto Y/n’s hand, her armor now covered her once more. Y/n glare at him, piecing into those dark eyes like she never had. If only looks could kill.
“Closer.” His words were like honey to her ears. All she could feel now was him. His vibrations were steady, like an unmoving mountain with the force to shake the earth. Y/n would not submit and move closer.
She remained right where she stood. A pillar of strength and might. A Helios ready to slaughter any in her path. Alina gently nudged her, obviously afraid of reprisals. Y/n took a small step, Alina followed behind.
“Well?” He asked. The glare did not leave her face. She studied him, he was perfect. At every angle he was perfect. Just like in every dream he was perfect. He was taller than her, like in her dreams.
“Well what?…” After a few seconds Alina timidly added, “Sir.”
She hated the way Alina sounded so afraid. The way she hide behind the strength that her sister held. Her hand trembled still.
“What are you? His gaze wasn’t on Alina. They two stared deeply into the other. Y/n’s e/c eyes refused to break away. His dark origins watched her every move. Like a hawk he stared at Y/n.
“Alina Starkov, Assistant Cartographer, Royal Corps of Surveyors.” Alina trembled. She didn’t speak, she didn’t owe the Darkling the luxury of her name. His eyes didn’t leave hers. He just waited in silence for her name. Glaring at him she relented.
“Y/n Starkov, Private Commander, Royal Corps of Combat, Blood Helios of the First Army” His lips perked up at the sound of her voice. She didn’t like that at all.
“They’re all gone.” Alina mumbled.
“It’s our fault. That’s why we’re here ain’t it?” She whispered clinging into Y/n’s hand. The Darkling raised his hand suddenly.
“Answer the question.” Why was he speaking like that. Why was he staring at her. They way he spoke, moving like he was trying to coax a frightened doe towards himself. Is that what he thought her? A scared doe? And not the blood thirsty beast. Maja growled as the Darkling slowly leaded against the table behind him.
“What are you?” Y/n felt Alina flicker, she was confused.
“A mapmaker, sir.”
“A Helios.” They laughed. A growl came from Maja and Y/n in sync. They dared to laugh int here faces. Where was the honor in this grisha.
“Quiet.” They all went silent. Maja too quiet down and sat by her side. He hadn’t even raised his voice an ounce. He made Maja just sit down by her side. No one had even done such a thing to her wolf.
The Darkling stared at her, his eyes trailing down her. He tore his eyes away looking around the tent.
“So who actually saw what happened?” There was a hush over the crowd. His eyes turned to the dirty Suli girl at there side. She was one of the grisha whom she decapitated the Volcra in front of.
“Zoya? You manned the main sail.” His voice was a bit more harsh now. A twinkle of anger was on his face.
“We were attacked barely two markers in.” Zoya swallowed and continued. “Someone lit a lantern.” His eyes trailed back to Y/n’s.
“And?”
“The Volcra went after the ruffle man and our Inferni first, the Cultist tired to kill most of them but-
“Cultist?” He asked. She moved her eyes to Zoya, they seemed to darken. Y/n had saved her life. Ungrateful fucking girl. Cultist they still called her. After she saved them they would still call her cultist.
Zoya frozen back a little upon the question. She looked back at Y/n and the Darkling seemed to make the connection.
“The armored one was killing the Volcra.” Zoya restated. She couldn’t even be bothered to call her what she was. Helios, was it that hard to remember. The Darkling nodded in her direction, his eyes never leaving Y/n.
“And then there was a searing light, one white and other a more silver color.” Zoya finished.
“It was them.” The other voice rang out. Y/n glare at the man who spoke. Alina hid further behind Y/n.
“Our Helios and mapmaker.” He tilted his head.
“Is this true? Can you both summon light?” Alina shook her head in shocked. The Darkling followed her motion mocking her. He mocked her sister. Her saint! The fear that radiated off Alina was enough to make Y/n want to kill this Darkling.
“Where did you grow up?” Y/n wasn’t sure how to answer. For her first twelve years it was in Keramzin, but after that it was in the sanctuary. She wouldn’t tell him where her home was. She didn’t need to.
“Keramzin.” Alina muttered, The Darkling’s eyes remained on her own. Like he expected a different answer. He would get none.
“And when were you tested.” Never, that was only answer. They hadn’t been properly tested. The scars on their hands were proof enough.
“You don’t remember?” He asked. She pushed Alina further behind her body as the Darkling moved towards them.
“Well let us just make certain.” Every step he took was a personal attack. He removed his ring and pushed a small claw like blade from it. She felt Alina quiver in her grip. Her heart sank to the bottom pits of death as she took a step back.
“Lift up your sleeve,” He paused looking at her. “Remove your armor.” He stood right above her. She didn’t think, the dagger manifested before she could stop herself. It pressed into his stomach as she clutched it.
“Move closer, and I will gut your intestines out and shove them down your throat.” A collective gasp rang through the tent. The oprichniki took a step towards her, the threat that she was. He simply waved them off, like fussing children.
“Why do they call you cultist?” He softly asked, the faintest of smirks on his face. She twisted the blade in her grip.
“Because I have killed and will kill for my faith.” He hummed once. Her heart began to beat loudly in her ears. Its intensity changed, beating harder with every pulse. She choked in her breath as the dagger hit the floor.
She stood there as she felt her body begin to shift. Her gaze tired to the other grisha, the ones in red kefta’s. One of them had his hands together, he was messing with her. It wasn’t enough to shake her though. She coughed softly as she took long slow breathes.
Another soon joined him, then another, and another till all the Heartrender’s stood firm. Her body sank to the ground as she fought the effects. Blood dripped down her nose, mouth and ears. She coughed as she tried to force her way back up.
The Darkling took small steps around her. His eyes never leaving her fighting crumpled form. She watched in horror as he grabbed onto her sister, her Alina. Maja growled and barked loudly, piercing through all their ears. However the wolf refused to leave Y/n’s side as she tried to fight.
The room began to buzz as she hands shook. The vibrations of every living thing amplified. The heartrender’s hands began to shake as the dark room began to shift. Slowly she lifted her body, fighting there manipulations of her body with her own.
The first grisha who stood to stop her glare, his harsh eyes trying to force her back down. It was too late now, her armor had deflected most of the others. Her vibrations only grew as others covered their ears.
The moment she stood up right a wave of light hit her. She body froze as she watched. From the small cut came a blaze of light. It was the sun ten fold. Her mind was blank. Alina really was her saint. The very saint she was supposed to protect with her life.
She fell to one knee in shock as the lights slowly faded away. Alina’s eyes drifted over to Y/n’s so fearful of what she was. The two sisters didn’t have words. What words could they express.
Alina was her saint. The being she’d been worshiping since childhood. A saint that was prophesied to come. No one knew when, it was an old tale.
Y/n had killed for her, in the name of her sister. Her saint that she never knew about. How could she now know. Before the globes, before she left she held Alina. Held her hand, her body so many times.
The two were always cut up, maybe that was why. She couldn’t move as the oprichniki grabbed into her. She watched for a few fleeting seconds as they dragged her sister away.
Her body flew up trying to follow. A right hand gripped into her arm. She looked back and there he was. The Darkling. Her natural enemy. What was she to do now. She pulled away, she wiped at the blood.
“Where are you taking her!” He tilted his head.
“What are you.” Again with such a stupid question.
“Where is she going?” He stared down at her, marveled at what we before him. She blinked a few times, unsure.
“Let your armor fall.” Scoffed out loud, her eyes rolling back. She would sooner die, she would sooner kill every single person in the tent than let him any closer. Maja barked loudly, he sighed once.
The same heartrender from before held his hands up. Whining Maja slowly laid down, her eyes fluttering. She felt his arm tightly around her. She jerked away, trying to reach her wolf.
“Stop it! What are you doing! STOP IT!” She yelled. He just looked at her, like a predator would its prey. He has no idea she was the apex in this situation. His gaze was so strange as she jerked her arm.
“Lower your armor.” She didn’t stop, he froze for a moment then added a gentle, “Please.”
She sighed as the armor slowly rang back up her body. Her uniform was tattered and blood seeped through the pants. Her pulled her closer, his grip around her sleeve. She could smell him, it was intoxicating. She looked up at him, her mask breaking for a moment.
She was afraid, angrily she was afraid. What kind of soldier was she to be afraid of her enemy. That was how wars were so often lost. His hand gently grabbed her broken sleeve pulling it up.
His bare hand went to regrab her. She shock for a few seconds, terror engulfed her. It was like the water was forcing its way down her lungs once more. Her secret was about to be exposed to her enemy. Her breath left her body in pieces.
“Please… don’t.” She’d never begged before. His eye softened as his bare fingers brushed against her flesh. They just stared for a while. Something inside her changed, like a small switch was flipped. His grip became more prominent and there it was. Shadows erupted from him, casting themselves all over.
And then without so much as a prick she was glowing. Her body was warm as silver began to spread out of her body. It was like a ragged inferno that only grew. Around them the shadows mixed with her silver, twisting and braiding together.
Gasps came from all those in the tent, it was like eating the formation of a star. She didn’t move, didn’t breathe as it all stopped. A real smile came onto his lips as she stood horrified.
Blasphemy…. That was what her life now was. She was blasphemous.
“A moon summoner…” He paused and then there was a softer voice. “And an amplifier.”
