On the seventh day, God created Lucien Watts

I like too many things and get all confused and hung-up running from one falling star to another till I drop. This is the night, what it does to you. I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion. Lucien; sometimes I paint.

For the most artistic person I know, I feel like you’d get a kick out of this journal. Every page has something different, giving you the opportunity to be creative and wreck it thoroughly. Reaching down into the gray slush, Craig called back into the room, “Fuck off.” He still hadn’t changed the bulb in his lamp yet. The ever-shrinking candle on his desk cast a warm orange glow on the ceiling, also shedding pale light upon the cluttered floor. He ought to put up some kind of safety disclaimer: Always wear shoes. Even if you think it looks clean. It’s not.

He snickered, stepping cautiously around the clutter. "You know, maintenance does come in now and then," Lu commented, gesturing towards the candle and the lack of light. "Unless this is for the aesthetic, in which case-- smells great."

"You want one?" Craig swung the door a bit wider, abandoning his post beneath its frame to cross the room. Due to his lack of a functional refrigerator, he’d taken to storing his drinks in the snow underneath his window.

Lucien grinned, stepping into the room. He was seeking out a fellow art student, he was going to ask about the black paints he was missing from his oils, he didn't use them, but that was besides the point, and it could certainly wait. "Always," he said, looking around. "Wow, nice place you got here."

"I thought you were someone else."

"Does this mean you're gonna give me a beer, or am I to just go back on my merry way?"

“Mate. The fuck you been bangin’ on my door for? I didn’t take your goddamned vacuum cleaner, alright? You can check my floor, it’s pretty fuckin’ filthy in here.”

"Fuck, I thought this was someone else's room."

It was almost as though Old McDonald's farm had exploded onto the Massachusetts campus, there were parents roaming the grounds and their kids dogged their ankles, like little ducklings-- almost. The night before had been a flurry of activity, there were students shoving bottles where bottles really shouldn't be hidden and baggies were tucked into socks and shirt sleeves. Everyone had their own way to prepare for the coming of their parents and Lucien was the only one who didn't break routine; walking leisurely through the school grounds instead of running and settling down to paint instead of scour his room. He'd done his bit so Anderson didn't look bad, but now his long body was stretched out along a park bench, a cigarette dangling from his fingertips as he tried to ward off the cold with greedy pulls of the smoke.
