Yes, and honestly the current poll result is real fucking weird for a site that supposedly values community. It could be a neighbour asking if you could take a package for them next week, it could be someone from the gas company telling you about emergency works that'll shut your street down, it could be all manner of perfectly reasonable things and Literally Just Answering The Door is the absolute bare minimum you can do to interact & engage with the people around you.

people on this site will find the most ridiculous things to get mad at other people about. people may not want to open their door to strangers for a million reasons. that doesn’t mean we don’t value community.

i’m a 4’11” woman who is often home alone. i also know all of my neighbors. if someone i don’t recognize knocks on my door, i’m not answering for safety reasons. i’m in a city—there are many other doors they can knock on and shops they can stop in, too.
