Missing Noble and Lucretia. Just sayinnnnn’
“In…” Mehmet bit down on his tongue, sooner wanting to swallow it then follow that line of thought. There was no need to remind the Queen of time spent apart, especially not when she had her child so close to her. “My daughter was kind enough not to kick up too much of a fuss about having things uprooted to come with me.” No promises of how well protected she would be were enough to persuade him to leave her behind in the harem. It was well-known how precious she was and, no matter how he tried, the vipers at court could never be fully done away with. “It be my pleasure, Your Majesty.” There was a part of him that was simply too happy not to see her upset over her son being taken, no matter how foolish it sounded, even in the safety of his own mind.
“Unfortunately, my son is the Prince of Fussing. I remember when he was just a newborn it would take my entire breath to get him to sleep. You would imagine he would want to.. But there was so much around I assumed there was just too much to look at rather than to fall asleep.” The thought made the Queen giggle, remember the sweet times she had with her son before having him ripped out of her arms from the English maids because it was not fit for the Queen to be holding her son. The English were odd. Keeping their young royals far away from court to keep them safe and have other raised them. If Lucretia was to have another child again, she would make sure that will be changed. “Thank you.” The Queen said with a smile, wanting for him to open his arms so that she was able to take a hold on and continue their walk.
♔ —– Isabella grinned at the compliment that the Queen paid to her, ducking her head in appreciation slightly, “Thank you your Highness, you are too kind.” she said, before crossing her hands behind her back, moving just a little bit closer towards the Queen and young Prince. “How old is he now? It is amazing how much he has grown… I’m sure in due course he will be fluent in both. Children are much more intelligent than we give them credit for.”
“He is a year now. Had a birthday just a few months past. He’s walking so fast I can barley keep up with him. Such a bugger he is now. Talking too much too I can hardly wrap my head around it.” The Queen smile, the pride she had in her son was so enormous. To see him become King was something Lucretia wanted to live the day to see. “Have you ever seen Allistair before? The past King? If so, does he not look like him?”
“ —— a woman,” constance responded as she fetched a cup of wine for them both, “ rumours run rampant in france, though fret not, if i shall hear of such NONSENSE again, I shall stamp it out immediately.”
“Very funny.” The Queen said, crossing her arms. “I was... Seeing someone secretly. But there wasn’t any spark. I guess I want that if I were to get married again. Though I feel it’s possibly not in my cards currently.”
Go back to Richard. You were never mine. Nay… he’d take you back for a farthing.
Mehmet held out a hand ready to brace the little one if he truly toppled over. His mother was at his side, of course, but old habits did tend to die hard. He made sure to cast the boy a smile when he rose so that he could know done well. “I can hardly blame you.” He wasn’t able to keep a somewhat sheepish expression on his face. “I’m sure I’ve driven at least one person to madness by trying to keep all the different titles straight. My sister is Maria, however, from Russia as it is now.” His tongue still tripped over her new name, although he supposed it wasn’t quite so novel now. “No apologies needed, Your Majesty, I did catch you off-guard. It’s a pleasure to meet you—” He dipped his head to the little one still peering between the two of them curiously. “—and your son.”
A laugh escaped from the Queen’s lips, feeling truly flattered. “I wasn’t expecting anyone to watch, but isn’t it always nice to see family bonding? I have not seen my son in months and I was able to bring him from England to spend the holidays with me. It’s the best gift that I can ask for.” Lucretia said with a smile. “I find it very hard considering everyday there’s new people at court. And people come and go and you never know.” Turning around, she heard pebbles move around and footsteps. It was one of her maids that took the Prince’s other hand. “It seems it must be his nap time.” The Queen nodded at the maid and released her hand from her son’s grip. Watching the two walk away, the Queen turned around and centered her eyes upon the man. “Would you mind taking a walk with me, your Majesty?”
♔ —– She had been walking though the castle, a book in her hand as she attempted to move back towards the library, when she saw the Queen of England and the heir to the throne, a small smile on her face at the tenderness that was exchanged between the two. “He’s rather handsome, Majesty. You must be very proud.”
“Isabella?” Lucretia questioned, her brows crossing. “While my boy grows every single day. You I must say have grown quite well into a beautiful woman! It’s been such time I’ve last seen you!” That is one thing the Queen has noticed. People would leave without her even knowing and she wouldn’t notice until months later once they arrive again. “Yes, I am very proud. He knows a lot of English, and he’s now learning some Italian, too. I imagine it being very hard at his age. But learning other languages while growing is always the best thing to do.”
It was foolish, no doubt, but there were still times when Mehmet forgot such things were expected. He had never been brought outside of his parents’ own empire; a place where to not at least know his name would have been considered a marvel to say the least. Outright arrogance helped none, however, and it was hard not to smile when in the presence of such a small child.
“Ah, yes, I suppose I am a fairly new addition.” He dipped a customary bow, somewhat lower than usual given the fine clothes of the woman if not her son’s. “I am Mehmet Sultan.” He couldn’t help the wry twist to his lips. “You may have met my sister the Empress. Or, well, regent as it were.”
Lucretia returned the same curtsy, and even the little boy tried a little bow before almost falling down on his face. The English Queen giggle gently and again nodded. “I am horrible with names and faces as of late. I meet so many people. I probably have met her, but I don’t recall meeting anyone with the title of Empress of regent. Empress or regent as of where...?” Lucretia questioned. “Oh and forgive me, I am Lucretia, Queen of England and Princess to the Holy Roman Empire.”
‘——– uneventful? you know, I have heard rumours of your betrothal, as your friend will you finally divulge the truth to me?’
“My betrothal?” Lucretia said, arching her brow. “Where on earth you’ve heard that?”
“Il tuo Maestà,” Giulia paused in the tracks to curtsy to the Queen of England and the child in her arms. “Such a handsome boy your Prince is.”
“Aye, indeed he is. He looks much like his father. He has my eyes of course. But Gio has his father’s chin, jawline, his precious hair. I dare say he’ll be his father’s spitting image once grown.”
Under other circumstances, Mehmet would have averted his gaze. It was the respectable thing to do, after all. And yet there was a part of him that was relieved to find the sight warming more than it stung for once, which was almost a relief.
It took him a moment or so to even realize that his staring had been caught out and when he did he cleared his throat, dropping his eyes at long last. “Apologies, it was not my intent to intrude.”
With a nod, the Queen smiled and placed another kiss upon the toddler. Putting the young boy down and holding his tiny finger as her slowly walked with his mother. Lucretia turned her vision back on the man. “No reason to, my lord. Pardon me, I have not recognize your face.”
“Sei così bravo, ragazzino.” Lucretia said, lifting up the toddler. “Did you miss me?” The Queen inquired, putting a gentle kiss on the boy’s head.
“I’ve been… well, as alright as I can be. Better, now that the plague is finally gone.”
“Ah, yes. This is true, I do feel a lot better knowing that the sickness has past the land.”
Arrogance is not attractive in a lady.
“Good, because I belong to no man. And I don’t have the care or the motivation to impress and be the lady that every man desires.”
Isn't that saying something, if you're the only Queen getting threatened?
“Because everyone is just clearly obsessed. I haven’t been Queen for a year. I understand that all monarchs must deal with threats and we must all hold our grounds and eliminate all that dares to cross us. But as I am saying, there is no one here at Mont Tomb that are Queens that gets threatened daily as I do. Clearly there’s an obsession.”
‘ ———– has anything notable happened in my absence at all?’
“Unfortunately, no. It has been the most uneventful week in history.”
