CRASH [1996], dir. david cronenberg
NASA just dropped the closest image ever taken of Jupiter.
disability advocacy went wrong when it became about inspiration porn and “differently abled” and savants. its incredible that that guy with no legs did a triathlon but your sister with no legs will not and she doesnt need prosthetics or five hour training days to deserve respect and compassion and accommodations. its incredible that that autistic guy can look at a city from a helicopter for an hour and then draw the entire detailed skyline from memory when he lands but your autistic friend cannot and they dont need to have a special Autism Power to deserve respect and compassion and accommodations.
activism framed around “we are just as CAPABLE” means that when people genuinely are less capable they are left behind. activism framed around “we are just as WORTHY” is fundamental to radical compassion.
This and one step further.
“Every disabled person has SOMETHING to contribute!”
We do not. Not all of us.
Those with nothing to offer have value and should be provided for anyway.
I'm so glad Daredevil is tackling how Punisher has become an unwitting icon to corrupt cops. Very glad they have the guts to do this story because it REALLY needs to be told, can't wait to see Frank end them all
can you imagine if "the gays" were like. obsessed with the Hindu caste system. instead of astrology.
type of guy i am unfortunately fairly certain exists
OMG besties, you will NOT believe what I just learned about Hindu society! So like, there are these four main vibes called varnas (plus some other girlies who are outside the system but we'll get to that tea later). It's giving SUCH strong personality type energy:
🌟 Brahmins: Total top energy. They're the ones who do all the spiritual and intellectual work. Very "I read theory" vibes. They're basically the Virgos of the system - perfectionist, detail-oriented, a bit judgy but we love them for it.
✨ Kshatriyas: Power bottom energy TBH. Warriors and rulers who are all about protection and governance. They're the Leos of the system - dramatic, protective, and born to be in charge of the function.
💅 Vaishyas: Vers energy. The traders and merchants who keep everything flowing. Total Gemini behavior - adaptable, business-minded, and living that hustle life.
💫 Shudras: Service bottom realness. They're the ones doing all the essential work that keeps society running. Big Taurus energy - reliable, grounded, and honestly carrying the whole team.
And then there's this whole thing about something called "jati" which is like your micro-label within the broader category? It's basically like having your sun sign AND your rising AND your moon all working together to create your unique social position.
The way this shapes who you can hang out with and marry is giving VERY strong "sorry, I don't date Scorpios" energy, but like... institutionalized? And some people are considered "untouchable" which is major "I don't even have any water signs in my chart" discrimination.

what it would be like
Nosferatu (2024) | dir. Robert Eggers
“Get his ass” Is so unreasonably funny to me. A huge win for the English language. Today’s version of “seize him” imo
the only reason I go on Reddit now is to find these bad two sentence horror posts. they're great. they're bad. but they're great.
Me: Yes sir I understand that the office door cannot be closed when two colleagues of opposite gender are alone together due to sexual misconduct concerns but as an openly bisexual employee I have to ask if leaving two colleagues of the same gender entirely unsupervised isn't a double standard
Me: Like. I feel I should also have my ass covered if a same-gender colleague accuses me of shit, you know
Bossman: Nahhhhhhh it's good
The morally grey cathedral goblin that lives on my shoulder and judges the value of my kneejerk impulses: If you grabbed his ass right now he would learn such an important lesson forever but we don't roll like that bro
Me: (out loud) Okay
(mob boss voice) so here's the deal, see. you's gonna go home and get a gooood night's sleep, see? and you's gonna have sweet dreams and a reaaal nice rest. reaaal nice. max here will tuck you in *i motion to the thuggish goon behind me and he approaches you with a warm glass of milk held gingerly in his enormous hand*
they need to start making clothes out of material that can clean glasses well again
dad: whaddya got there, son
son: soy milk
dad: hola milk, soy tu padre
