How do you invest your love?⁠⠀ How do you invest your life?⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Those were the questions that came when I first paid attention to the lyrics in the Mumford and Sons song, Awake My Soul, many years ago.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Those two questions went deep. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ The answer came instantaneously, like a lightning bolt to the heart and it would take a long time to find my way.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ That answer: invest in others. Invest in anyone seeking. Invest in anyone that feels lost like you once did. Help them develop themselves and find their way.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ At first, I didn't get it. It sounded like a joke. How can I help when I'm just as lost? ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Well, now I get the joke, and I'm all in. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I'm surrendering to the journey. Surrendering the outcomes, and letting go. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Just showing up and sharing is powerful and helps to guide the way for everyone. What's your story?⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I've been hearing this question so much lately. We are all constantly scripting one in our heads. Take a minute to listen and you'll 'hear' what yours is saying. If you've got kids have a conversation with them and play around with sharing what's coming up for them.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Truth is claiming your story sets you FREE!⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Claiming your story can be a great tool to help you get excited about your life. It can also help heal old hurts and traumas as well as celebrate how far you've come. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ The interesting trick I've discovered is it helps to flush out those stories until you arrive at a place where you're done looking at the past. When you're done looking in the rearview of your life and you're ready to look ahead you are free. This takes practice and the younger and younger we can introduce this the stronger and more resilient the next generation will grow up to be.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Shift your perspective. Give your story a future-focus and let's see what happens! ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Try... Once upon a time there was a... Today is a dream come true day. I followed my heart and invented something two years ago that is now officially out there serving the world to the full capacity for which it was designed. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Today, the ShineOn™ Experience launched to a special group of students ranging in age from 10-14 (Grades 5 through 8). The sweetest little wink from the universe was that both my children were invited to participate! Oh and don't even get me started on the amazing partners that I have the privilege to collaborate with. Mmmm, so good. We're truly making it happen. YAY!⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Until today, I had not been living out my full vision. With this opportunity I now get to impact lives at the youngest possible age! Isn't it amazing that my awakening was sparked at 10 and now I get the opportunity to inspire these youngsters to invent themselves right where I was at? That's my full-scope dream come true moment.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ My dream calls me to serve. It's about the next 1, 10, 100... The next group of people I get the privilege to show up for and serve. I'm not always clear on the how. I fully surrender that to the universe. Every day there's just the call to show up and serve. You get to invent your whole life. This is a core belief of mine. It's the one that most aligns with the vision I've held for my life, from as far back as childhood. It's the one that's guiding me to write this post. So check it out.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ When I was 10 years old I spent an entire summer going to the library... all I did was read. I had a voracious appetite for knowledge. I befriended my librarians and they nurtured my curiosity which was growing at an alarming velocity. Somewhere in there I discovered personal development work and I started to form a vision for my life. I remember deciding way back then that the only way this work works is on the foundation of love and honesty. Truth-seeking was the name of the game.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Over the years it hasn't always been the most fun perspective to apply when I process what is happening in my life. It is just the one that helps me the most. I have learned to take responsibility and be truly humble and honest with myself. I have come to believe, consciously or unconsciously, we create it all. We're that powerful and therefore that capable of taking control of things. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Try reflecting on where you are. Can you honestly say you don't see your hand it? ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ The good news is at any moment you get to invent again. All that's left to do is practice making it intentional and for the highest good. I believe in my heart that your dreams know the way. I know this because so far at every major milestone of my life, 44 years and counting, I can reflect back and remember having held visions of these moments that I now get to enjoy. I know that if you’re really going to go for something, you’re going to have to be able to picture it and feel it and believe it is real first. I’ve had this conversation many, many times with people in my work. I’ve heard the, ‘that’s not practical’ remark, and all I can say is if you want to live to be practical then go for it. What I’m going for is something different. It’s what I believe will allow me to live my best life. For me that’s full out, full blast and giving it my all. As you can imagine this new mission I was on was getting me into all kinds of trouble... in the best way of course! I’m a deeply creative and spiritual being. I feel before I think every time. This type of fluid energy can be a monster to try to control. All my experiences, journals, books, explorations, research, and personal growth work were generating the right energy for my future they just weren’t coherent, clear, or focused. What that means is I knew I was on the right path I just couldn’t see the path. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ All the inspiration and passion alone wasn't going to get me anywhere without clarity. I started to understand and have now come to believe that what I needed to focus on first was clarity. So here I am embarking on this truth-seeking journey to discover what more I wanted out of life and I had this funny realization. Having my dreams come true was proof there’s really no need to play small or shy. If I was gonna bother at all may as well go for it! There were parts of this conversation that I had with myself that felt daring, bold, even scary, and greedy. That was okay, it was all part of the process. As long as you open your heart and start by looking deeply within you will find your way and eventually align with what makes perfect sense to you. Life is full of possibilities. I have always believed that each of us gets to design our life therefore why not make it a life we love. The first step is giving yourself permission to have dreams and desires. This allows your vision for your future to start to emerge and take shape. … there was a time when I felt lost. Not because things didn’t work out for me, quite the opposite, because they had. Right up through my teens and twenties I had an insatiable hunger for life, for growth and expansion. The energy of my dreams fuelled my ambitions and goals. I was fearless and unapologetic about anything I went after. When I entered my thirties I married the love of my life and we almost instantly welcomed our children. We were together, we were a family and it was glorious. All my dreams and desires had come true. In that gratitude I found myself asking… so now what? Instantly I realized I wanted more, meaning that I could handle more. If that was true what did more mean? I could feel this call to serve, to really show up in the world and do something awesome… like only I knew how. How was I going to figure it out? This was a scary and exciting feeling like when a monster roller coaster is cresting its climb and you don’t know what’s on the other side.
