This evening, I asked the cards "What do I need to remember?" I drew Life Map and The Phoenix from the Cosma Visions Oracle. When I look at these cards I'm reminded that though there are a lot of things that feel like I can't control, but there are elements that I can. My life was laid out in a map of stars and when I feel lost, I can look up to find my way. I've always find that I'm rebuilding myself in some way. Here’s my “life map” that I made as part of a team building activity at a staff retreat last week. It’s meant to help other team members better understand you and what had shaped you. I chose to make it a timeline.

As one of the leaders of the staff I know it’s important to role model vulnerability. But only in the last few years have I shared the hard and real stuff that has shaped me. Working with college students it’s important for me to remember that when I was 20 I wish I had known someone had similar experiences to me. If I can make one person feel less alone then it was all worth it.
