me: zoro does not care for luffy more than luffy cares for him and to say so is a reduction of their relationship as first mate and captain, and as friends. ppl do not like to suggest that luffy loves zoro more than anyone else (and understandably) but it does not change the fact that luffy loves zoro differently (not more. but differently). zoro IS the face he looks to and says hello to first. zoro IS the person he “yeets” to him the most. zoro IS the only crew member he took fate by the throat for and sought out purposefully rather than letting fate do her work (stumbling upon his nakama). zoro IS the person he blushes at the sight of. zoro IS the person who understands him at an almost innate level, and who in turn luffy trusts to know & stand by him. opla was not out of character for either of them, and “you could never fail me” / “I need you” ARE things that are true to animanga luffy’s thoughts and shown through his actions rather than said out loud
