IRMA BLANK: BREATH PAINTINGS book, 2015

This book focuses on a selection of works from the series Radical Writings produced in the 1980s and 1990s. In these works the artist links her breathing to the gesture of writing, repeating a single action: drawing a line corresponding to one single breath. The striking blue paintings on canvas open up a discussion on language and signs, and on the authority of the written word that is constantly challenged as a vehicle of power. Published by CURA.BOOKS in conjunction with the exhibition at MOSTYN, Wales UK (15 November–1 March 2015).

Errant Lines: Form-of-Life/Form-of-Art is a thesis written by Vashti Ali and supervised by Angela Vettese and Cesare Pietroiusti for the M.A. in Visual and Performing Arts at the IUAV (Venice). It is grounded in recent theoretical thinking on aesthetics and politics together with the questions solicited by the construction of what have been referred to as “experimental communities” in an art context.

VOLUME is the first of a series of experimental publications involving the book phisical form as specific meaning of its production. The publication inquiries the book as an autonomous and self-sufficient medium, a volume in the space in which the physical aspects (dimension, weight, pages, sequentiality) and the modes of fruition become the content of the book itself. The data made visible by VOLUME show the continuous physical and perceptive variations acting in/on the book during the usage process. In collaboration with Roberto Arista.
