Listen to Where the Water Flows by Melody Meg #np on #SoundCloud
So, so thrilled to finally be able to share this EP with everyone! A while ago, @fictionissocialinquiry posted about a No I Love You challenge, where the goal was to write or draw something that conveyed love without using the words ‘I love you’. Where the Water Flows is what happened when I started trying to write songs to fit that brief and then completely spiralled.
Massive thanks are in order for the wonderful, insanely talented artists who committed their time and energy to this over the last few months: The artwork for the individual songs was done by @hayleynfoster and @favlie, who have had me in fits with how they’ve made the words breathe. And the cover work and art production (including mock-ups) was done by @doodleladi, whose vision has turned this into something cohesive and beautiful. I can’t thank these ladies enough for the work they’ve put into this, as well as for all the support they’ve given me throughout the process. Thanks also go to @fictionissocialinquiry and @formerlygoldilocks for helping me stay calm and for listening to my panic-rants when I was trying to figure out how to record all this stuff. I’m a writer first, and then performer/sound editor/producer come waaaaaaaaay down that list, so apologies for any and all issues with sound quality (recommend listening with headphones), background noise, and exceedingly average guitar-playing. I hope that everyone can enjoy these songs despite the rough-and-readiness of them! Big love to all, and happy Zutara Month!
Oh my gosh! So happy this is finally out!
It was such an incredible honor to get to make art for this EP by the amazingly talented @ifyouwereamelodymeg, whose lyrics are just as loving as her fics, so touching and sweet. But the art would be nothing without the amazing color grading and mock up skills of @doodleladi, and as always it was such a pleasure to have my drawings seated next to the lovely art of @favlie. n.n All these ladies are insanely creative and wonderful so be sure to check them out if you haven’t already.
The songs are so full of love for Zutara and really tracing their experiences through to a happy resolution. My favorite songs were obviously the ones I made drawings for, but they’re all worth a listen. I’m just insanely happy I could play a role in making Meg’s EP come to life. All her hard work really made something beautiful n.n
