Katara doesn’t forgive Yon Rha and hug him and dry him off and walk him home she leaves him scared and sniveling and crying in the mud but she leaves him alive because she realized in that moment that she was only doing this because she felt like she had to. She hates this man, therefore she should want to kill him, right? The narrative isn’t saying wow Katara killing a mass murdering fascist dickwad is just as bad as said dickwad killing an innocent wife and mother during a raid on her home, it’s saying wow isn’t it fucked up that this little girl has been forced to carry this deep seated anger in her for most of her life to the point where the only outlet she believes she has for it is killing a man in cold blood? And like… yeah! That is pretty fucked!
I understand the impulse to defend Korra, but I'm not sure why people are surprised she potentially did something wrong. Every single avatar in the series was depicted making a costly mistake of some kind that had sizable impact.
Even "good" decisions sometimes had negative impacts farther down the line. For example, Aang's spirit bending ended up causing harm decades after the fact.
This is the reality of being the avatar. They have incredible, world-changing power, but they are still fallible humans. This is why it's such a harrowing duty. This is why Aang was so scared of it.
And besides that... Mistakes and fallibility add texture to characters!! I'm excited to see how this plays out and what we'll learn about Korra's legacy.

Incantation spell: “Over the waves, riding the wind, to the very ends of this world!”
Unique Magic: Path to Your World (パス・トゥ・ユア・ワールド, Pasu Tu Yua Warudo),『彼方へ響く歌声』or ‘Song That Echoes Beyond'.
What does it do?: After reciting the incantation spell, Rielle sings a melody and enchants objects, to which its holder should hold on tight, transforming them into magical communication devices. It relies on Rielle’s voice.
Observations: Rielle can’t re-cast the magic from far away. If he concentrates on the specific object, he can dispel the magic from that one without breaking communication with the others. But he also can dispel it in its totality if needed.
Meaning: “Path to Your World” has a similar title to Ariel’s solo song “Part of Your World”.
*The katakana パス (pasu) can be read as “Path” but sounds similarly to “Pass”. Yet, in Valkyrii’s translation, she felt “Path” “sounds more natural in English than ‘Pass to Your World’,” and I agree.
The incantation spell feels like a description of riding a boat in the sea, possibly like the opening scene in Little Mermaid when we see the sailors fishing, the waves splashing and the wind going through the sails.
The core of this spell is communication, tying together Ariel’s singing voice, her deal with Ursula but also the mutual support her friends from the sea and other earthly animals gave to each other and her in her journey.
{Minajael’s UM}
Incantation Spell: “Do not close your eyes. Do not be afraid. Now, release the chains.”
Meaning: *On X, user kawasemi_toa pointed out that Minajael's UM may have been inspired by a line from A Whole New World, sung by Jasmine: “But when I’m way up here, it’s crystal clear”.
The incantation spell has two important parts: the first two verses are referring to different moments in the scene where Aladdin takes Jasmine up for a magic carpet ride, emphasizing for her to not close her eyes to the scenery and to trust him; the third is possibly the freedom theme in the movie, especially for Genie who is freed from his shackles (or “chains”) by Aladdin’s last wish.
The core of this spell is “unraveling the truth” of other people’s magic. It has significance with Jasmine’s search for freedom but also discovering the truth about Jafar and Aladdin as the story progressed.
What does it do?: Minajael can unravel the contents and formulas of a spell, which makes him able to dispel it.
Observations: Minajael can’t “dispel things in a flash”. Magic activation or breaking requires both knowledge and imagination to envision the spell clearly, so he’s a bit restricted by his own knowledge foundation from the royal archives.

I know Floyd said that bright colors are duller under the water. So, that makes me wonder if Rielle was fascinated with his own hair color when he got on land since his hair is so bright.
Yes, it’s said that Rielle looks very different under the sea due to how bright colors are perceived differently in water. Azul remarks thar Rielle is much more “vivid” on land, to which Rielle excitedly claims “This is the real me”.
When Jade points out Rielle’s bright red hair, Floyd doesn’t recognize him as an ex-elementary schoolmate. “I think I’d remember if there was a guy with a super flashy appearance (like this).” Floyd then remarks that Rielle must look completely different in the sea.
It seems like Rielle’s tail fin is bright green (鮮やかなグリーン/azayakana gurīn), but his hair was much darker or black. More specifically, Floyd uses the phrase 黒っぽくて、(kuroppokute), meaning something akin to "blackish"/"darkish".
That dark hair looks like a bright red on land. Jade even reiterates the point about how the same color appears different on land vs sea!
Judging by how happy Rielle is in his pre-Relic Labyrinth interaction with Azul, he seems to be very happy with his land look. Rielle must have been ecstatic when he first came to the world above and saw his hair in a brand new light.
Since Rielle's hair is so long and so bright, I imagine him constantly running his hands through it, spinning around in front of mirrors and pools of water to admire it, and experimenting with all kinds of new styles (which, uh, eventually resulted in the rather unique one he's currently wearing).
Red is the colour of snake whisper: what he feels gives him power and control and gives him the little possession he has of others. It makes him feel like he's in control even though he has no real autonomy over who he uses his unique magic on
Red is the colour of the royal family: it's Kalim and his rubies, Kalim and his eyes, Kalim's passion is red and fiery and Jamil can feel it scalding his skin
Red is the colour of the grapes Minajael eats and the colour of the curtains in his chambers, the colour of blood and what reminds Jamil of the things he does for his family
Red is the opposite of Minajael, and Jamil is the opposite of him too, as he should be as a servant, and Minajael as the prince -- somehow they're more similar than they should be, being clear-cut sections of red and blue
