Snow: The fanclub is named Eternal Snow. So just like spring, winter is also on board to be a motif.
Blanche: Neige's surname and it means "white" in French. It's a little parassocial but all fandom nicknames are a little bit. Comes it the deal.
Apple-seeds: Because apple is the motif of Snow White, it's related to seasons bc apples come from flowers and you could tie in that Neige represents them on his sweater (the "drops" in red that are reminiscent of seeds and the details in Snow's dress sleeves).

i really love the suggestion "applelings" in the comments although i can also see that being a better fit for epel idol au. but it's so cute i don't wanna wait for the fandom to use it!
I'm thinking even if one of them wins, maybe I could use "applelings/applings" in another context bc, since it's "written by Rook", he uses some flowerly language here and there so it could work too!

Lately I’ve been thinking about Rielle, and sorta wondering about his family. It began mostly as a 3am thought in the line of “haha all of Ariel’s siblings have names starting with A, wouldn’t it be funny if the sister succeeding King Triton had children and named them all B names a-la-bridgerton?” And then it got me Thinking.
Do you think maybe all of Rielle’s siblings have R names? If this theory holds water (hA-) then Rielle’s lineage could possibly be traced back right to Ariel (which is an entirely new thing to unpack) but my question to you is: do you have any hc’s or musings for Rielle and his family, whether it’s his siblings or dynamics w his father? Maybe name ideas or just how Rielle fits in with his family?

C'mon Twst, Rielle's brothers/siblings need to be all R names. HOW CANT THEY NOT? It's the only perfect thing for the Little Mermaid based characters!!
So, the thing is, the mermaid sisters are: Attina, Alana, Adella, Aquata, Arista, Andrina, Ariel. The pattern here is that the vowels are "a", "e" and "i" but idk if I should account that or the fact that Rielle's name is basically Ariel's name without the "a"... I was going to make a whole list but had to scratch that for the time being </3
I'll need to hunt down every baby name site to give me ideas once I get the right time. The hcs, on the other hand, are easier to think on the spot! lol

Okay, I mentioned in this lore post about Horatio how he has the same name of the Sea Court musician, Horatio XII, and I think it would be interesting if they're part of the same families.
Twst never goes deep into confirming if the royal or important families of these places are blood tied to the og characters (the historical figures in this case), so maybe we'll never get a outright canonical answer on that but it would be cool!

The Sea King (to not use Triton's name but a placeholder for the time being) is a widow and his spouse, the Queen, died a long time ago... just going off the original. But she died to natural causes, not the humans fault.
But being a single father to seven children AND a king of the Seven Seas on top of that is not a easy task nor free of stress. Especially when his younger one is quite the rebel.
Every single dinner after Rielle got more older and before he ran away to RSA, it was this discussion between them about how is dangerous to go above the surface was dangerous or tedious (when Rielle pointed out how the sea was not easy peasy lemon squeezy as well). Just imagine the siblings eating and passing each other the servings while Rielle and the King are gradually arguing on the two extremes of the table like a thematic parallel
The King just wants the best for Rielle and gets worried that he misses classes, recitals and events. He says he wants Rielle to be more responsible and mature but, deep down, he's fearful of anything endangering the lives of any of his 7 children. They are his treasure.
Although he knows he worries the most about Rielle (... not completely without reason). Even his siblings understand that and in different degrees, they feel the same way.
Rielle's siblings don't entirely get what about humans is so interesting to Rielle. They are happy to see him happy and energetic, the middle ones close to Rielle's age like his adventure stories, but... why?
Besides the fact that they have similar activities but on dry land, what is so fascinating about them? Oh, every time one of them asks all the six are in for a rambling.
Sometimes I get it why Rielle has such a visceral response to being belittled (perceivably so) or talk to like a child because being the youngest of 7 means that you're basically everybody's little brother. So he's a child to his father, to his possibly older friend Horatio, to his brothers, to the court...
So no wonder Finny (as I'll call Twst!Flounder for now) is his best friend bc, since he's a bit scared of everything, he relies on Rielle a lot and that gives him his first "older brother" experience.
I feel like the older the siblings are, the more distant Rielle is of them. Not in a "don't talk to me, you submissive sibling to paternal authority!". Well, maybe a little on the fact that they're the most closer to the King and already grew out of their own curious/rebellious phase, but Rielle avoids them mostly when he just came back from a near death experience and is trying to not draw attention or cause a ruckus. Success rate is 50/50.
But when Rielle is sad or feeling down, is the older 3 that will give that space for a pep-talk or advice on something (granted that Finny isn't there or doesn't know what happened).
Because they're more grown up, the eldest, R1, is preparing themselves to assume the throne and the other two split with them the paternal/maternal moment for the rest of the young ones, as its deemed necessary.
Rielle is closer to the middle 3 siblings, since they're closer in age. R6 is particularly fond of Rielle's stories and they chat the most together.
All 6 of them can clock Rielle's behavior in a matter of seconds, he's very easy to read.
Rielle is indeed the odd one of his family and sometimes it feels like the whole ocean knows what his day is like, he can't never catch a break. That's why befriending Minajael was easy, even with the grade difference, bc they went through very similar things (and all princes/princesses go through actually)

Thankfully, human and merfolk relations aren't so bad the King would destroy Rielle's entire human trinkets collection. At least he hopes so.
Rielle sends trinkets to his family and friends under the sea sometimes, usually things that remind him of them or that seem interesting enough, with a note explaining their use. The trinkets vary in quality or usefulness and leave the people of the Merfolk Training Camp (who usually do the mail man between the two worlds) very confused too:
Finny: a smoking pipe
Horatio: a whole music stand
R1: a fountain pen
R2: a silver flower pin
R3: a magazine in a plastic wrap up bag (R3 thought the bag was way more interesting but didn't tell a soul that)
R4: a horse/pony plushie
R5: a sponge
R6: a medium clock-size mainspring (wow it jumps!!)
King: an old shaver [note attached: "DON'T SHAVE. I just thought it was ironic XD Love ya, Papa"] (his father is confused wtf is those capital letters but silently he finds the shaver kinda endearing, it's like a trident without the middle teeth lol]
When I get around to make a post on my vision for Rielle's brothers/siblings (so they stop being chess spots), I want to use some of these infos from the wikia about Ariel's sisters bc some of the elements are really interesting.
I never got to see Little Mermaid 3, it's one of the few Disney movies that never crossed my mind to ask for or watch </3

Let's operate with that in mind, as if it's true: would every generation be one letter of the alphabet? If Rielle is from the "R" generation, the 18th one, so his father comes from seven line of "Q" named children and when one of Rielle's siblings marry and have kids, they'll come in 7 again (what is this family's genes?!) and all be named with "S". That would be certified comedy right there lol

I also hope the TWST powers-that-be make Rielle’s siblings all have ‘R’ name. It would be so perfect, and the family dynamics. I really like the idea that, theoretically, Rielle could trace his lineage back to Ariel in some manner, but I don’t know if TWST will ever get that specific. It is fun to think about though 🥰 But the idea of the entire Corallia lineage having alphabetical names by generation is incredibly amusing to me, so I really hope the TWST devs do that!

Rielle is a force to be reckon with! It helps that I got to watch some of the making off of the Little Mermaid (1989), so my mind was this open soil for some ideas to sprout out lol

I was thinking about that too!! It relies a lot on location and on how the sea works (which I'm not very familiar with) but I wonder if they only feel with winter bc it actually affects the top of the water surface or the other seasons can be seen or interacted with in different manners. That and Rielle never heard that phrase before lmao
