Software Created for people with disabilities

Software is created so that a user can have an easier experience. However some software is created so that people with disabilities can have have an easier time with a computer. An example of software that has been created for disabled people is dragon speech this allows users to use their computer with there voice instead of having to use a keyboard or mouse. An advantage of this is that it will allow people who have lost arms or hand to be able to control a computer easier as they can just use their voice. However a disadvantage is that it might not recognize what you are saying fully or it may not understand what you are saying.

Blogs

A blog or a weblog is a website that you can update frequently to add updates on whatever the blog is about. People use blogs as people can leave comments to the post that might have been uploaded. Advantages of using a blog is that people can reply to the post immediately after it has been uploaded. However this can also be a dis-advantage to a blog because of the fact that if you do not have a big follower base on the blog people may be slow to give feedback or may not give feedback at all.

Blogs are good for businesses because it allows them to give frequent updates to the customers that use the services and goods that the business offers. it also good for businesses to use because it means that they can have customers give feedback on new idea and products. However if a business keeps giving out bad ideas and does not use the feedback that is given they can lose customers.

Web mail

Web mail is web based mail that can be used to send information from user to user(normally inside of a business from employee to employee). People use web mail because it allow people to message people about deadlines or send people attachments such as a report. However you need internet connection to be able to send messages from user to user. This channel works by users having an internet connection and account to the web mail service. They can then send other users emails by directed them at their account name. After this they can then see the message that has been sent and they then have an option to reply. An advantage to web mail is that you can access it anywhere in the world as long as you have an internet connection to access it. Disadvantage to using web mail is that you can be sent spam emails from when you apply to things using your web mail. Reasons that businesses use web mail is that it allows people who are working in a business to send reports and news about the business to one another. this is good because it means that people inside of a business can be up to date with each other.

Webpage 

A webpage is a internet document that is written in HTML. Webpages are used to present information to a user by a business. an advantage of a webpage is that anyone can access it, this is good as it allows user to see what services and goods the business might offer. However webpages that businesses setup need to update a lot so that the information does not become out of date and/or irrelevant.

Video Conferencing

Video conferencing is a special communication channel that will allow you to talk to someone else over VoIP and if you want to talk with video you can use a webcam to speak people as well.Advantages of this is that you can speak to anyone across the world as long as you have internet and they have internet. There as also disadvantages to this as well if you have bad connection it can be hard to hear what they are saying over VoIP. Also people can be in different time zones and it can be hard to find a time to call each other. This is good for a business as it allows worldwide business to contact different branches of the business from a far.

Cloud based software

Cloud software is software that will allow people to access documents that have been uploaded to the cloud based software and can be stored there instead of on a local hard drive this is good as it will allow people to upload files and then access them from anywhere as long as they have a internet connection. However it can only hold a certain amount of data and therefore you may have to pay the company who owns the cloud based software for more. in a business this is good as it will company's to share files from one employee to another. This software is mainly internal meaning that it will only be shared in the business and not to customers. 

Social Media

Social media is normally considered website at which users share information and opinions on such as Reddit, twitter and Facebook. the way that people will use these sites is by making a page or an account and uploading opinions and information regarding what  that page is about. an advantage to this is that people can see what you have uploaded and potentially give good feedback to this. One another note to this there are also a lot people on the internet who may not like your opinion and then could stop using your business if you are a business and this is your social media page. But it could also bring in new customers.

Online Safety Issues

Respect towards others.

It is good to have respect towards others over the internet because once you post something it will stay out there for good so you don’t have to something be posted out online that you wouldn't want maybe an employer seeing. This is so that he doesn't think of you the wrong way and you may not a get a job. You want to have respect for others on social media sites as people will then look at your views in a better way and so that you can understand the views of others easier.  You don’t want to lash out at people if their opinion is different to yours as people might look at you in the wrong light and view you in the wrong way. Also it is good to not take things that are posted on the internet too seriously as you can then look at it from the way that it was said rather than trying to dig deeper for a further message.

Sharing Personal Information.

It is in your best interest to not upload pictures or media that you would consider personal and private as you might not want people to view it. Also to remember that when you are posting images online that once it is out there it’s out there and that someone might have saved and/or screen capped because when you put things up on the internet it is likely to never be lost. If you did put something that could be personal out on a social media website it could potentially lose you a job as if you apply for a job the employer is likely to search for you name on the internet and then find your page with explicit images for example and you might not get the job.  You should also not share your password with anyone even if you know them or you think you know them as they might potentially hack into your account and upload private images that you have saved on a cloud system.

Securing Data.

Securing data is important as you don’t want to lose access to the data and files that could be attach to your account. You want to be have an anti-virus installed on the system that you are using as well so that the virus can’t gain access to the data that is on your account and system. You also want to make that you have a secure password by doing the following making sure that the password is at least 8 characters long and is using one of each 1 capital letter ,1 number and one symbol by doing this hackers will have a harder time getting your data and guessing your password.

Data Protection Regulations.

There is one main data protection regulation with is the data protection act created in 1998. What this was made for was to stop people from accessing peoples account which out them knowing or allowing. This also helps stop things like phishing as it was made it illegal and therefore making it so people would potentially stop doing it. This is so that people cannot using phishing to steal peoples credentials and use it to steal their identity. this is good as it allows you to be safe whilst using things such as you email with a lower risk of identity theft.
