Heres the link to my finished animation on youtube.
Here's snapshots of my contextual works for the claymation I made, Splat! The Aardman production agency from England was a huge help for my contextual and I found how they work on a similar fashion very interesting. The large amount of work it takes to create a production is intense to say the least. These animations included Wallace and Gromit and also Morph. Mike Judge was used as I love his stylistic animation style. His career has been widely successful also being the focus point for 90s cult cartoons.
Here how my story board has developed from the first post on tumblr. I used alcohol markers for the final sheet, including each sound effect used for the final production
The close up was enjoyable to make as it was just creating a better quality head of my main character. The process of making it was postponed however because I had to buy black Marla. This was then used for eyes and hair. The lips were moved to show the facial expressions for the disappointed character. The poop was then dropped on his forehead. The backdrop was reused as it was still in the same setting as the first scene. The sound used was a scream to show the disappointment of the character.

The flying sequence was created using a looped image sequence of premier pro. The sequence could then be repeated as much as I needed for the video The bird poop was just a white one layered image on photoshop to make it transparent. This was then dropped down to create the illusion of it dropping from the sky
Here is the beginning process of taking the pictures for my stop motion video. The process is tedious but also enjoyable. I have 2 out of 4 scenes shot so far. The remainders will be shot today in the studio. I feel the back drops are working to my advantage as I can move my clay pieces and still be visually correct.
Today I worked on my backdrops. These will be used instead of a green screen for my claymation. The first is the city scale, which will be the opening scene for my animation. This will feature a silhouette bird and my clay character walking. It was made using acrylic and spray paint. This makes it somewhat unique I feel as compared to traditional ways of creating backdrops. The buildings were made using pieces of paper, to help mark off the edges.
Snapshots of my idea development as I'm making my claymation character. There will be 2 facial expressions in my animation as of yet. The build will be somewhat broad as he will be male. The last page is just showing the process of ideas I have had involving the birds and backdrop.
Working towards the story board for my animation elective. This really rough story bleats will be developed as my ideas and processes develop. Overall I am happy with my progress today. Tomorrow I plan on working on the backdrops. There will be a total of 4 in my animation.
Sculpture experiment, put Styrofoam balls inside the plaster to have both a "smooth" and "rough" surface on the same piece. This worked very well I feel as it also caused the piece to be lighter than previous pieces. Overall I am very pleased with the results.
This piece is dedicated to the mold I used for the large scale plaster pieces. The colours were chosen to indicate the "rough" and "smooth" topic of becoming monumental. I'm really happy with how this turned out and I'm also very happy that I increased the overall scale of the piece. The piece is meant to be bent up as the caution cone was easily movable as can be seen from the above gif.
Pyramid construction sculpture made with rough plaster, this is not finished and is in the drying stages. The base is built from cardboard. The plaster will solidify and cause the sides to stand upright. I have numerous sketches of these constructions in my sketchbook from over the course of these 2 weeks so it was appealing to finally bring one to life.
"Rough" display of texture on the 2 sided plaster and material mix. The plaster used was only partly mixed to assure the roughness would be apparent. This is the largest scale I have worked on with these plaster pieces.
The very "rough and rugged" effect I put into effect on the geometric triangles on Friday was very effective I feel. I'm happy overall with the outcome it had and am looking forward to seeing it tomorrow. The contrast between rough and smooth will be further investigated throughout the course of the week in hand.
