I headcannon that Sonic doesn't need sunglasses. He's very much used to running with the sunlight shining directly in his eyes, even when it's extremely sunny with no clouds in the sky. He can pretty much run with his eyes closed (especially in Green Hill), so even when his vision isn't clear because of the sun, he still runs with no problem. When he's chilling at the beach is the only time he wears sunglasses. That way it's easier for him to nap... And also so he can look cool.
