Today was one of those days that were special. It started out like any other day waking up around 6:00am and looking at the surf pondering that same old question should I go out now or wait till later. The surf was fun 2-3ft and offshore and I was so tired my the past few weeks at work I decided to stay in bed till 7:00am as that was my favourite time of day.
7:00am meant that it was time to wake up my daughter "Lulu". When you wake her up she is that happy and reacts like she hasn't seen us for days. She kicks her legs rapidly and flaps her arms (because she is in a sleeping bag like a cocoon) like a salmon while supporting the biggest smile.
So after waking up my little bundle of joy I decided to message my mate about going for a surf out our local spot on facebook as he doesn't have a phone (so lame). I put my bettie on and ran down to the beach and gave a tremendously cheerful smile pun intended for the local Wollongong police force conducting a breath tester to catch out the local drunks.
I paddled out the bowl as per usual and saw a few sneaky ones come through out the reef so I got a couple out the bowl and went out to the reef. It wasn't very consistent and 2 blow-ins followed me out but I got 2 waves with tubes in 1 hour. I went back to the bowl and got a few more then paddled in. I got home at 9:00am and the surf was still good so I had some breakfast and went back down for a 30 minute session as both of the girls were asleep.
11:30 came by and we are off to a friends place for a BBQ with a de-tour of a car wash then boom we were there. The party was good but all of my usual crew were away home so I found myself trying to communicate with people I had nothing in common with. I was talking with a guy who said to his 2 year old daughter that my the-died t-shirt made me look like a clown, he made a typical tattoo remark and that I made a reference to my daughter being as chilled like a stoner but without the bongs. I thought it was legit because she is a massive chiller but he didn't find it funny. i tried to find something in common to talk about like surfing but it was still a struggle. This guy was boring as bat shit and he didn't want to acknowledge that his daughter was "daddy little girl" when he was making gurgling noises with her and making her dance for everyone. I was a bit annoyed that I couldn't befriend him but now as I look back on it I'm like "who the fuck cares". Eventually a couple of friends rocked up and we talked some shit then we left at 5:00pm as myself/Lulu became sleepy.
We made it home and started to feed Lulu then she did a poo and some of it went on my wife and as I got up quickly to run to the sink to get a cloth I slipped while going around the lounge, my left foot slipped out and my arm landed on the couch and I over flexed my arm/shoulder then I had to lay on the ground as I had damaged my already existing shoulder injury.
I started flicking through instagram and found Mike Vallely, he always seems to inspire in life. I like his words of wisdom so I decided to finally start some writing off with what happened in my day today. The end.
