Ok so im still working on divine proxy au. The main issues getting in the way is motivation, lack of time, and not being very great at wording stuff. It's like I have the idea in my head I just don't know how to get it all down on screen. And I've sort of figured out how to do the next story part? But it might be story part and then a bunch of info parts explaining the system. I'm gonna try and divide the workload a bit more so that it becomes more manageable but sometimes I just start typing and then go ham- But anyways here's to hoping that I can replay legends arceus soon to regain my motivation (i cant rn cause someones borrowing my game >:[ aaaaaa) but one thing im considering doing since I can't draw is making a tomodachi life island for this au lol (if i do end up going with this it would probably mean i could post more often :>) so maybe I'll post about that sometime hehe
So I'm replaying pokemon moon (again) and one thing that I noticed was people keep bringing up the fact that tapu koko saved you but it's like "maybe one day we'll find out why it saved you and nebby that day!" Like was it not supposed to????? Does tapu koko usually leave kids to die??? Why is it so odd that the ISLAND GUARDIAN saved a child from a near death experience esp right outside it's ruins? It gets brought up so much throughout the story esp tbe beginning that I'm starting to think that everyone just hated elio/selene and wished tapu koko just let them die lmao--
"Pokemon Divine Proxy Au"
actually like the way you're thinking about Akari. Flawed characters are usually the ones that stick with me. I am a little curious how you'll balance making her understandable without making readers feel like her actions are being excused. I think that's the part that'll really sell her.
I have an idea of her personality and her morals in my head. I'll try my best to explain how her brain works in the story but if any extra clarification is needed then I'm always happy to answer questions. Personally I like her as a character but I don't like her as a person. I understand her but I don't agree with her.
Ok so basically my phone's battery almost exploded lmao and while I did get it fixed I didn't have a power button (which was awful in itself) but after getting a new phone and having a bunch of other stuff go wrong in my life it hasn't left me with much time/motivation to do this au (im not quitting not yet anyways) but I figured i would write this
So this isn't the next story part (considering moving that to ao3?) But I wanted to talk about Akari and her character a bit in this au. And about character writing in general.
She's not particularly meant to be liked or disliked. She's meant to invoke feeling. I'm fully aware that she's a psychotic brat in the first part. And with how this story is going I don't think she's going to be a general favorite. But she's not entirely evil either. I think an important part of analyzing characters is looking into the good and bad of them. Akari is cruel, psychotic, and anxious. But she does genuinely care about helping and improving the world around her. And again I don't expect her to be well liked in this au but the thing is:
Flaws are very important to characters. While not all of my characters are going to be outright jerks in this au (and in others) But one thing thag annoys me in characters is when they have no flaws besides "oh no! Im too pretty! And nice! And shy!" Because let's be real everyone can be a jerk in some way. Esp if they have stuff driving them to act that way. Flaws like:selfishness, arrogance, lying. They don't have to all fall into the same stereotypes for how those flaws play out. For example a person could have a kind heart but struggle to do the good things they want to out of fear of them backfiring. Someone might not outwardly brag much or see themselves as better than others but they might expect a lot from their loved ones because they subconsciously believe they deserve it. Or a character may not be intentionally manipulative or malicious but might lie about small things either from anxiety or out of compulsion. However the important thing is that even if you explain that behavior you don't excuse it. Because even if a character's intentions are good or if they have a reason for doing something it doesn't mean that the actions they take aren't bad. And if you want them to grow, they need to actively realize and admit their faults and actually take action to become better. Hollow apologies dont fix anything.
I'm planning out the rest of the pokemon protagonists and im already building their personalities. So far the protagonists with general personalities built are: Akari, Selene, Elio, Dawn, Ethan, Julianna. And more and more of them are starting to fall into place. While idk when the next story part for divine proxy is going to be out because my life basically has been lit on fire rn but I will hopefully get that out soon.
Ok so I just posted the first part to my new au a few minutes ago. (Pokemon Divine Proxy Au) And a part of the reason why it took me so long was because making teams is a struggle. It took me forever to do Akari's team. While it'll probably be a while before their post comes (cause I need to post the next story part for Akari) the next protags to have a (introduction?) post will be Elio and Selene, and while I do have some of the pokemon for their teams they aren't finished yet. I love a lot of the pokemon in Alola and it's hard to choose the most fitting ones. So if anyone has any pokemon suggestions I would love to hear them!
Quick edit cause I forgot to add: but this goes for any pokemon protags tbh, even aside from the alola ones. It's just that the alola protags are going to be next. If there are pokemon in other regions that you think would fit then ofc lemme know about those too! :D
So this was going to come sooner but my phone is broken :D And it might stop working entirely soon so who knows how long it's going to take me after that! But anyways as for the new au I posted a little while ago:
~Pokemon Divine Proxy Au~
This starts in pokemon legends arceus, when a young girl named Akari was living in the region of Sinnoh. As she got older it became more and more clear that...
There was something wrong with this child.
Her parents loved her but always had this underlying fear of her they could never fully explain. For starters she was always some degree of formal, always speaking politely, always had perfect manners, even ones nobody taught her. She always knew an uncanny amount about pokemon and battling, but she was barely around pokemon, and she was never taught much about battling. Sometimes she would speak about her future desires to be a strong trainer but she talked about it as if it was her god given right. She treated the other children at her school oddly.. The ones she viewed as strong, she would "command" them to do things like tests, or tasks, or even to battle other people. As if they were employees or... something? And the ones she deemed weak, she was "nice" to them, but it always felt more like pity. She would give them whatever she felt like they "needed" and would demand their gratitude. When the other kids wouldn't go along with her little act, she would get violent with them. She would refuse any sort of authority either. Despite her "polite and well mannered" demeanor. She never got along well with her teachers, she would do the assignments she was given and would follow the schedule for the most part, but would always refuse to apologize or accept punishment. Eventually her behavior got her kicked out of school. Her parents tried their best to get her the help that she needed but she always insisted everyone else had no right to treat their "hero" like that. She seemed.... paranoid? Like she was anxiously waiting for something to happen. Like she couldn't relax because some threat would come. She kept insisting, "One day they'll need me!" "One day I'll save all of you!" But when asked what she was waiting for she would always claim that she didn't know but she would be ready. She kept clawing at her skin as if she believed there was something underneath. The years flew by and the parents grew increasingly worried for their child. No matter what treatment they tried Akari never got better. Until one day....
She was.. gone?
They checked everywhere but they couldn't find her, but as they were searching they kept.. forgetting.. what they were looking for. Until they went back to her room and it was empty. What were they searching for that took them an entire day only to forget it entirely? Was it a thing, or a person? After a while they gave up searching. And they lived their lives the same way they had before they had their child.
She knew it would be hard work but to be transported to an entirely new world? To be shunned by her own species? Attacked by every pokemon she had ever seen?
They were ungrateful. They didn't understand. She was chosen by Arceus. She spent her entire life preparing for this. Being called crazy. Being hated. People insisting she needed help. They didn't realize how easy they had it in their world. Their countries weren't ruled by evil people who stole pokemon. They didn't have to fear those evil dictators. They didn't have to live in fear while the people who could do something to help just lived for themselves and laughed at everyone else's downfall. They were so ungrateful for her help. She abandoned her humanity to save their sorry souls.
But she prevailed. And overtime those ungrateful people started falling into line. They started to see her as the leader she truly was. They became friends with her. Overtime she became the leader of Jubilife Village. (A much better one than that idiot Kamado..)
But she always craved something more. She saved Hisui, but she wanted to save her old world too. But Arceus wouldn't let her leave Hisui, not entirely anyways. There had to be something more she could do... right?..
Oof so a while back (A LONGGGGGGG WHILE BACK) I was working on my ultra space theory, basically trying to figure out if ultra space was created by Arceus or nah. And I haven't worked on it as much because of a lack of motivation so I still don't have an answer to that yet. Butttttt I did come up with an au idea for that >:) (I'm hoping to get into posting that every once and a while but again I struggle with motivation and commitment lmao) now I cannot draw for the life of me so it will prob just be fanfic/memes or whatever but I'm hoping to get that started soon.
Now as for what the au will be about/have it will technically extend to all the regions but the story is mainly gonna focus on alola and hisui. (And maybe other regions like paldea and galar when I get the brainworms for them but it's mostly gonna be about hisui and alola) It's going to center a lot around the pokemon protagonists and basically why these kids in particular seem to have so much power over everyone else. (Plus their motivations for their journeys) Also it's going to be my personal story take on how ultra space came to be. Plus what happened after legends arceus.
I have to go do stuff and brainstorm a bit more but I'll post again soon (either later today or in the next few days)
Does anybody have those fics that they KNOW for sure they've read before and vividly remember but cannot find any trace of it at all? Like there have been times where I read a fanfic and I remembered the tags and stuff but there was nothing when you looked for it? And then you look harder cause wtf I know this thing was real why is Tumblr/ao3/wherever trying to gaslight me but still nothing-
Now I'm not super into stuff including demons esp like actual demons, so maybe there's a slight bit of salt here affecting my judgement of the storyline, but I feel like wooly wasn't executed as well as he could be. I feel like he's way too obvious, and his personality shifts from too immature to obvious manipulation, and there are moments where I feel a little bad for him but idk I feel like his dialogue could've gone a lot better. Also the only bit of info we have on the human behind him is just a quick interview that doesn't really do much in explaining him or making him more likeable (not even just as a person but as a character)
Now I do actually like the game ok and the storyline, I think it's a well made game it's just not that much for me personally.
But here's the thing that's been stuck on my mind, when the game had first released and I mean the much shorter original version, it had quickly gained a fandom. But the way we perceived Amanda and wooly was so different lol. When we had the original game Amanda was an evil but somewhat iconic little girl that was a dora knock off. And then wooly was the poor boy trapped by her. Amanda was quickly painted as abusive and shit and wooly was a poor scared angel. Now that's kinda all we had to work off of in the original game so I'm not judging that much but anyways cut to us getting the game and it's sequels and it's pretty obvious the more and more we go on that Amanda is just a trapped little girl who deserves so much better, and wooly is the true evil.
I went from "well he's in an unfortunate circumstance :(" to "why is wooly such a little bitch?-"
Primarina is my absolute favorite pokemon ever, but looking for fanart is always a gamble because I can either find the most beautiful artwork ever, primarina holding a gun, or just straight up get flashed with no in between
Pokemon ZA is based in kalos- the region that came out before alola— theyre slowly rebooting regions- CAN THEY JUST MAKE A NEW POKEMON SUN AND MOON IN 4K..
Call it pokemon shining sun and glistening moon or something PLEASE.
I miss my wife tails (guzma)
LIKE WE HAVE TO SEE A REBOOT IN THE NEXT 2-5 YEARS CMON THEY CANT IGNORE ALOLA FOREVER RIGHT RIGHT??
I completely agree with this I'm just hoping that whatever legends game we get for sun and moon is a masterpiece cause that game means a lot to me. However I don't think we'll be getting it anytime soon since when pokemon sun and moon first came out there was a lot of attention towards it. I mean like the first game after was a sun and moon remake. (Even though the remake wasn't as good as classic sun and moon in some ways.) I think they're gonna either spotlight a less popular game, go for one of the oldest ones, or we get another gen 1 remake lol. But still I agree I want my sun and moon switch game like c'mon we all know that region would be gorgeous on better graphics it was already a pretty cool place. (Dude could you imagine stuff like the meadows, lush jungle, brooklet hill, and the altars--) Besides I miss the sun and moon characters a lot :(
Oh gosh I didn't even think of all the ultra stuff, one thing I did like about the ultra remakes was getting to explore all the different ultra wormholes. Dudeeeee can you imagine like the white sand area- or even the ultra deep sea, or ULTRAMEGAPOLIS ITSELF?? (I miss the ultra recon squad :( <\3) Also I would love to see more team skull shenanigans cause that group was iconic lol. Also I miss the rivals/friends (give me back my edgy french fry) esp since all we have to rely on for now is pokemon masters for crumbs so I would love to see certain characters like molayne, ryuki, the ultra recon squad, and even the player themselves expanded on more. But this has reminded me once again that I need to go research my theory, I was actually getting pretty close to completing it last time I picked it up so here's to hoping that I can finish it this time lol 👍
What i kinda hope is that its like a new mc and its based in the future- hapus grown up haus kahuna and guzmas a bug type captain- like that would be genius especially to do if they want more content for the anime-
BUT YESSS.. ID LOVE TO SEE MORE OF ULTRASPACE.. I FEEL LIKE IT WOULD BE SO MUCH COOLER IN AN OPEN WORLD FORM- SO MUCH MORE CLAUSTROPHOBIC AND SCARY-
Yea one of the things that made little sense in the ultra remakes is having some of the totems switched around without a lot of reason, like it feels like they just tried to make the totems the captains pokemon. (Personally feel that those two things should be separate for a little more variety but that's just me) But it would be interesting to see new captains and new totems overtime. Maybe a good objective for a legends game (whether this be past or future) would be assigning new totems and captains? And while the original sun and moon anime finished a version set way into the future would be pretty cool :>
Thank you for this terrifying fact I'm totally gonna sleep well tonight-
Kidding but anyways what about ground/ghost to split down the middle? It would work in theory since both isopods and skeletons can be found there-- It would cover a lot of type advantages? (When getting the layout for a team I wanted I struggled so badly with whether I wanted my palossand to have the groundium z or ghostium z lol.)
Oooo ok diglett's tunnel we're cooking with this one. (Plot twist the actual challenge is to get pass all the zubats and digletts-) It would up the difficulty.
And fossil golisopod.... It would prob make sense! If there were something that would endanger the golisopod and make them flee to the water and change over time instead then that would make the original the variant which is a pretty cool concept
No but seriously reintroducing a new species has its challenges so this would be a cool side plot or quest or something. Making a new habitat for one or both types of golisopod. Who wouldn't wanna team up with an ex gang leader to save the species!
I mean I don't post that often and my ultra space theory is months overdue but still it's like 90% of my posts---
But this game is so fun to theorize and analyze and discuss with people :> if I knew how id probably open a discord server for this kinda stuff
I wonder what other kind of side quests and stories we would get? (RYUKI SIDEQUEST WHEN) Like can you imagine a Gladion and silvally quest? Or a quest from the actual champion?
I mean kukui has no problem making children do things like fight gang leaders for him so I'd love to see what a "side quest" is to him lol
And yea getting to explore their friendship is something id like :> it's always cool to see how the older generations lived before the protag and friends started their journey
Oof my dog was barking at a leaf and I had to calm him down--
It's like a divorced parent who keeps saying stuff like "well go tell your dad I said **** ** ***!" The kukui side quest is being his lawyer in the divorce settlement
And the malasada questtttt aaaaaaaaa
Forget your zodiac sign what's ur malasada flavor? There's just a different totem depending on which malasada you make.
Ok ok but I'm tryna imagine a side quest for hapu the underrated girl "fix my crumbling house because it's the oldest house in alola"
I SEE GUZMA AS AN OLDER BROTHER TO ALL THE CHARACTERS IDK- LIKE HAU AND THE PROTAGS- GLADION TOO HES JUST LIKE A DAD TO THEM BECAUSE HE NEVER HAD THAT..
I think it's interesting that the majority of poni island is just nature, then again knowing all the pokemon on that island I don't think taming all of them is an option lmao and I think the guzma older relative hc is hilarious esp since the amount of idiots in team skull is unreal so he's prob already used to managing kids in a way. (Po town NPCs my beloved)
Aw that's sweet :> although I wonder what the process was of taking over po town cause like did they find it abandoned? Did they push people out of their homes? And why tf is there a giant metal wall around it---- but yea the first thing the grunts say to you when you enter is asking if you wanna join and are actually somewhat friendly when you're in their town, they straight up have a better community then some actual towns.
I think what its meant to be is that so they dont cause trouble on ula ula- nanu made a deal with guzma- and they have that town as their base as long as they dont do serious harm—
Its sorta like their prison- with the wall if that makes sense-
Also idk if you know this show or not but there's this show called Andy Griffith and there's a prisoner who is both friends with the popos and have the key to get out just at arms reach so he just goes and locks himself up whenever he feels like it and it's like his second home. That's what I vision now that I have this description.
Also nanu being like "fine you can have the town" is amazing

Also idk if you know this show or not but there's this show called Andy Griffith and there's a prisoner who is both friends with the popos and have the key to get out just at arms reach so he just goes and locks himself up whenever he feels like it and it's like his second home. That's what I vision now that I have this description.
Also nanu being like "fine you can have the town" is amazing
