Whenever I see the movies of Buster Keaton I gush in my fruitless attempts to mould into words how much he brought to the history of cinema! In fact, any suitable and succinct description can hardly be found to describe what kind of an actor, director, stunt man and filmmaker he happened to be. Even to say that he was exceptional won’t explain anything. This is an actor to stare at and to amaze, amaze, amaze!
Buster Keaton yet again trots out his WWI-era “Princess Rajah” routine for his second television series, Life With Buster Keaton (1951). Though well into his mid-fifties by this point and consequently unable to execute some of the original number’s more acrobatic/aerial moments, he nonetheless recreates it with great accuracy - pratfalls and all.
Buster Keaton just your average 50 year old. (Boom in the Moon, 1946)
