The whole “comics vs manga” debate should really just be called “Marvel/DC vs Shonen Jump” since those are only things both sides seem to care about anyways, focusing on single genres (superhero and battle shonen) rather than the mediums in general

Even then, I feel like the main reason they focus on those two genres specifically is mostly because they’ve been adapted into movies and shows they liked, not so much the works themselves

Either way it wouldn’t kill them to look beyond just superhero/shonen stuff

People want more media featuring/centered around minorities until minorities actually make them, then that media either gets held to incredibly high standards or in most cases, gets outright ignored

Sometimes I wonder if people even care about stories in their media or if they just care about hype moments, tropes they can recognize, potential fanfic material, and/or characters they can ship and possibly project themselves onto

Even when they to try to focus on the story, it’s usually either a version they made up in their head, or they were too busy looking at their phone to even do that

People will say how deserve better animated shows than Brainrot Friends and The Farty and Doofus Show (2016), but if a show’s too good, a bunch of adults will start to insist that it “isn’t actually for kids, you guys”

Given how people like Toby Fox and Gooseworx have to deal with a bunch of annoying hyperactive teenagers on a daily basis, I think they would make great teachers

The only upside to online discourse is that due to algorithms and shortening attention spans, it usually doesn’t stay relevant for more than a week before most people move on

I saw somebody say that Americans treat politicians like celebrities and celebrities like politicians, and after the last six years, I can see where they’re coming from

In the next few years a bunch of teenagers who were born after the first few MCU movies released will start feeling nostalgic for 2020 and I’m not too sure how to feel
