Snapped out of her wandering thoughts by the gentle and concerned words of a stranger, Edelgard directed her attention away from the towering church. It was both beautiful and uncomfortably familiar; perhaps it was no Garreg Mach, but the princess found herself captivated by its towering architecture and magnificent stained glass regardless.
In truth, she was more curious about how the church functioned in Spirale. This was not the only church she had come across within Archimedes; it was simply the most impressive and formidable as far as she could tell. And as she attempted to come to understand this city, it was perhaps unsurprising that she of all people fixated on this subject in particular.
“Yes, I’m alright,” she said, offering a smile to this kind stranger. “I apologize if I caused you any concern.”Â
“I am just sightseeing, for now. Are you a regular visitor of this church?” Edelgard wondered what purpose a centralized place of worship would serve to a population composed of countless differing beliefs. Did this place truly have its own faith? She supposed Spirale did have native residents — though she hadn’t quite figured out how they differed from people such as her.
❝ ah, good, ❞ she says, glad to hear nothing is amiss. ❝ there’s no need to apologize. ❞
soraka has not taken the time to learn the particulars of the city’s faith, merely using the church grounds as a way to observe the faithful. prayer and rituals dedicated to higher powers again prove themselves commonplace in mortal cultures, even those of such a far-removed plane of space.
she can’t help but wonder how the island’s native citizens feel about the ever-changing population of people from other worlds. do they find it inconvenient? are they angry? do they have an opinion at all?
❝ i visit frequently, yes, but i am not a practitioner. i am merely watching. the amount of people that come and go from here over the course of a day is truly something to behold. ❞
