while practicing to internalize a hexadecimal numeral system im working on, i realized it would be nice to have number words for 10 to 16, like how duodecimal has dek, el, and dozen/doe, for 10, 11, and 12. so i looked to see if someone had already come up with words, and it turns out that the 3 naming schemes that are listed on wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexadecimal#Verbal_representation) are Pretty Bad, so i spent a few hours coming up with some words that i think are a little nicer.
dek, el, dou, trisk, tetrem, pynt, and hex.
dek, el, and dou are taken from duodecimal, but with the spelling of doe changed to dou so its not the same as another real word. the rest are roughly based on greek numbers, instead of the letters a through f like the ones that are mentioned on wikipedia. tetrem is the only one thats 2 syllables, but i think thats fine since its 2*7, and seven is Also 2 syllables so theres some symmetry there. lastly, pynt is pronounced pɪnt (like pinto instead of pine).
