LOCATION && WITH WHOM : : TRAIN ONE W / @invcrsed
It’s not a surprise to see him here, she just doesn’t expect to see him on her train. “Well, isn’t this exciting,” Apatite says. “One of our heroes is here to save the day! Isn’t this wonderful.” It’s not and that’s only because Zuri has battled Ali just some days ago and it was… pitiful. For Ali, the man is a terrible trainer, horrible! Garbage! Which makes this interaction all so disappointing. “You come to take me down, hm?”
he stares up at the masked individual, hand on one of his pokeballs in case she tries to start something, though his attention is half split between the other passengers. “something like that.” there’s not really any nerves in his tone, more used to high energy encounters, but not usually as a participant, let alone a trainer. his strong suit isn’t exactly fighting, after all, but if he can distract them long enough to ensure they don’t get more pokemon from the bystanders, that’d be plenty in his book. “you know, isn’t it kind of lazy to be stealing pokemon?” he asks, his voice taking an overconfident tone. “if you are really a trainer, shouldn’t you have more pride?”
kalopsca.
She nods. “I hope you’re able to catch the change as well.” Not for his research but for Zuri’s own selfish desires. With Ali agreeing to battle against her, Zuri is already pulling out her first pokeball, pressing the button to make the device grow to full size. “Please, I’m sure you’re an amazing trainer! Trust me, I’m never wrong about this type of stuff,” she says with the utmost confidence. “We’ll do a simple three on three, sounds good?”
he follows their suit, pulling out a pokeball himself, having to think on which of his three would make the most sense. “jez?” pulling her back in, not wanting to risk her getting hurt. she wasn’t the strongest, even if she had technically been training with him longest. “go easy on me,” he suggests, smiling.
victqry.
kaine stops in his tracks. “no, not mine. the pokemon and those items.” he squints a little, watching the tiny pokemon struggle. “but i’ll turn a blind eye. i mean, it worked hard for those objects. besides, since the owner hasn’t even realised, i’d say they weren’t important to them.” he pauses, turning back and realising that he almost walked past a certain professor’s assistant.
he nods slowly — he had meant the pokemon. he has half a mind to try and capture it, to study its behaviors some more, but he isn’t sure he wants to be reponsible for a little fox with sticky fingers. “no, it almost looks like it’s mostly rocks and...little statues?” he guesses, tilting his head as he studied what little he could see of the stash. his bag is open without a second thought to who he is with, digging around for a berry, or really anything that it would be interested in.
ANY LOCATION ; it was rough work, editing your own footage. but leila tries to keep an optimistic vibe. she’s only been in the industry for a couple of years, but she was no slowpoke; rather, she tries to absorb all the things she could around her in order to further her own personal agendas. currently, the point in the agenda required for her to put together this quick reel of coordinator interviews she conducted a while ago to send back to her station, but quickly realized that she was just a bit short of footage to really give it that ‘oomph’ she’s looking for. spotting somebody passing by, leila looks up from her device and tries to wave them down. “no, no, not a battle! just a ..question! a quick one, promise!” ; @shadowstart
his hesitation is palpable, not looking to lose another fight so soon after getting his ass handed to him by zuri. he just wants to continue on with trying to find additional shadow pokemon, see if he can get any caught before anything worse happens. but the girl promises it’s not a battle, and he slowly nods, helpless to an ask for a help. “only a quick one,” he says, gruff, but makes his way over to her.
kalopsca.
Zuri nods her head, listening closely to everything he says. Talks about Deerlings isn’t interesting but she can’t deny the fact that she likes how Ali’s face lights up as he talks about said Pokemon. This guy is truly a nerd, she thinks, lips tweaking upwards at the thought. “Are you gonna be out here again to see them turn orange?” She thinks about capturing a Deerling and turning it into a Shadow Pokemon, just a little surprise waiting for Ali when the seasons change. Wouldn’t that be a perfect gift from Apatite! “Most likely, there’s always a trainer lurking somewhere. Or even trainer that’s standing right in front of you.” Now it’s her turn for her eyes to sparkle at something that interests her: battling. “You know your stuff which means you’ve got to be an exceptional trainer. Let’s battle!”
they seem interested, at least, and ali will call that a small win — he hasn’t completely embarrassed himself in front of them. their question makes him pause, trying to think of how to answer. how do you tell someone you might be off in another city trying to rehab shadow pokemon? “i hope so. laurel has me running all over, unfortunately.” a half truth, but one he hoped could be forgiven. “but i’m hoping i’ll catch some of the change.” her face lights up as they talk about battling, and he smiles — he wishes he could be that passionate about it, after all — until they assume he’s going to give them a good battle. with how excited she is, though, he can’t bring himself to dash their hopes. “i’ll do my best to give you a good fight, but you overestimate me.”
leilareport.
leila, also invested in the scene, could only smile along as she watched. “no. well .. wait..” she turned her purse around and used up a minute or so to see if she missed anything. “not mine.” she confirmed. “should we try and get it back regardless? perhaps the owner will come back for it?”
ali watches as she searches, eyebrow quirked. he had meant the pokemon, to be fair, but he guesses keeping an eye on her stuff would also matter among a thief. “probably, i don’t think these little guys are known much to give their treasures back.” he thinks it might be a nickit, but he isn’t too confident from what little he’s seen. “maybe we can trade a rock?”
psichiic.
gives her head a much obligated shake from left to right, definitely not hers. but she does share an amused look with her fellow pokedex team member, holding up a hard stone between their gazes, almost asking for his permission to give the small thing one more trinket for its treasure pile.
he hesitates before giving the nod, encouraging her to give the little thief another toy. at least this one will be offered, not stolen. “i wonder if it’s alone,” he mused, searching his pack for a berry or candy, something to give it too. might as well leave it an offering.
kalopsca.
“Really?” Zuri asks, eyes shifting to the Deerling before going back to Ali. The Pokemon doesn’t interest her but the individual before her does. “What’s so special about it? I’m curious.” She’s not but Ali doesn’t need to know that. She does, however, smile slyly. “You never know, there might be a powerful Deerling around here,” she says. “Or maybe some trainers who want to take me on in a battle.”
they give him a chance to talk about his favorite subject, and he practically lights up, despite not wanting to appear overeager. “so deerling, they’re meant to change with the seasons, but i have not seen it myself. you see how they are green?” he points to their smooth fur, careful not to move too quickly. “a few weeks ago, these same ones were actually pink. give it a month, and they should be orange. supposedly.” he contains his excitement with a sheepish grin when he turns back, tapping his pen against his notebook with nervous energy. “that sounds like a trip to the medical center to me. you really can find trainers to battle in these parts?”
kalopsca.
“Ah,” she says with a nod. “Well, did you find one or did you give up and decide to watch that Deerling instead?” Zuri zeroes in on the Pokemon, debating if she should capture it or not. If Ali wasn’t around, she would’ve taken out her one Shadow Pokemon and use this as a perfect training opportunity but alas, that cannot happen. “Nah, I don’t think Leo wants anymore friends,” Zuri says. “I came out here to train my main team.”
“oh — well,” he trails off, scratching the back of his head with some embarrassment, his small smile sheepish. “i...got distracted, i guess. i haven’t seen deerling like this before.” he’s heard they change with the seasons, of course, but he didn’t know it was true. he quirks an eyebrow at their training statement — when he had mentioned zuri’s name to a friend, they had told him exactly how good of a trainer she really was. “you sure these deerling will be enough of a challenge to them?”
he was watching the little pokemon stash the objects that seemed so obviously not theirs with interest, very nearly pulling out one of his notebooks to record the behavior with a laugh. “that’s not yours, is it?”

LOCATION && WITH WHOM : : ROUTE 6 W / @invcrsed
“Hey, you’re the guy from before.” She snaps her fingers before pointing. “Ali! Yeah, Ali and his cute Pokemon Jez,” Zuri says, smiling gently. “Whatcha doing out here? Looking for some Pokemon to capture?”
he’s crouched, watching the summer deerling through the tall grass, notebook open beside him. before he is startled into standing, attention shifting to them. “zuri,” he says in lieu of a greeting, recalling their name with a genuine smile, hand going to jez to check on her out of habit. “not catch, no, just some research for the professor. i’ve heard some of the towns people saw azumarill over here. are you trying to make leo some friends?”
kalopsca.
He had them there because Zuri was going to use strong. “Okay, then gorgeous, that suits him better.” Leo seemed like to like that better as he crossed his arms and nodded his head. “Jez,” they said. “It’s nice to meet you, Jez. Now you’re a cutie.” Cute and small, the perfect duo. It reminded them of their Togekiss when it was once a Togepi. Small, cute, and a handful. “Is that so? That’s interesting,” they said. “And I haven’t, not where I’m from. Where are they located?”
“he’s a fighter?” ali could never be sure, though he could hardly imagine they were showing him off in city competitions only. he seemed to be a proud thing as well. “and doesn’t she know it.” he spoke dryly, though tinged with affection for the little ghost. “the wild area, on the northwestern side of galar, usually. it’s pretty rare to spot them, especially without a friend.” he was particularly proud of his little dreepy, though proud of his full team. “i’m not too sure if they’re around elsewhere, but i haven’t seen any just yet, especially not here,” he continued, making a face at his small notebook, jotting down some notes. “sounds like the same from you.”
marikosfm.
❛ yes ! it’s not too far up the road, you should be able to find it super easily just going there. ❜ she points on her left, having even less time as him in the region, but she’d purchased from the nearest shop already. ❛ but ! i’ve got some rawst and passho berries i can spare if you’re in need of those ! the ones at that shop aren’t in the best condition, you could continue a few routes over for better ones, but it’s a journey. ❜
ali nods, following her directions with his eyes, feeling for his pokeballs in order to gauge how long he can wait. “if you’re willing to,” he admitts, hesitantly. running into anything more highly leveled might end up in trouble. “i could give you a few pokeballs in exchange before i head over to another one, then. corsola’s looking a little rough around the edges right about now.”
kalopsca.
“I wouldn’t use cute to describe him.” Leo was cute in his own little way but Zuri never cared too much about the appearance of their Pokemon. Strength before beauty in their eyes. Their eyes fell on the Dreepy draped around his neck, head tilting to the side as the name of the Pokemon left their mind. Or maybe it was never there. “The strongest actually,” Zuri answered. “What about yours? Is it strong?”
“what word would you use, then? besides strong. he’s gorgeous.” though pokemon were powerful, he found them more interesting outside of battle, preferring to know their other behaviors. “not exactly, but she will be a sight when she’s bigger. this is jez.” with a slight shrug of his shoulder, the small dragon finally stirred, floating around more freely with the encouragement. “dreepy are often quite weak before they evolve, though. you seen many?”
“you seen any kind of shop around here?” ali had only been in the region just short of a year and was never well known for his good memory. with the shadow pokemon sighting increases of late, he wanted to be sure he had enough supplies for his own, though, since some of them were still quite weak comparatively. “need to stock up on some balls and berries before i head out.”
