LOCATION && WITH WHOM : : TRAIN ONE W / @leilareportâ
âAlright, show me what Pokemon you got on you.â Despite their demanding tone, Apatite sits calmly on one of the seats. âHurry up, I donât have all day.âÂ
LOCATION && WITH WHOM : : TRAIN ONE W / @invcrsedâ
Itâs not a surprise to see him here, she just doesnât expect to see him on her train. âWell, isnât this exciting,â Apatite says. âOne of our heroes is here to save the day! Isnât this wonderful.â Itâs not and thatâs only because Zuri has battled Ali just some days ago and it was... pitiful. For Ali, the man is a terrible trainer, horrible! Garbage! Which makes this interaction all so disappointing. âYou come to take me down, hm?â
Kiki Layne in Donât Worry Darling (2022) dir. Olivia Wilde
victqryâ:
 route 15 was familiar to kaine, especially since it was where the only poke transfer lab in unova was located at. however, he was used to it being mostly quiet, so when his attention was captured by the trainer asking for help, he could not help but feel annoyed. without a word, he immediately pushes past the trainer, letting his metang out of its pokeball, and walks towards the devious pokemon that was biting on the bag. he was uninterested in the purple feline, but if he had a choice, he would rather not hurt it, since it wasnât at fault here.
 âmetang, take down.â the iron claw pokemon doesnât hesitate, easily charging towards the purrloin, before stopping mere inches away from it. kaine smiles inwardly, proud that his metang knew his intentions without him instructing it. the purrloin, now startled, drops the bag and flees, unharmed. only then does kaine turn back to look at the helpless trainer with narrowed eyes.Â
 âwhat if i wasnât here to help? would you have just stood here waiting?â his metang returns to his side and kaine picks up the bag from its metal claws before tossing it towards its owner. he decides he may have been just a little too critical and sighs, calming himself down, âiâm just saying⌠you should be more careful. especially since your pokemons are inside, right?â
He holds his breath as the Metang attacks, Carmichael afraid that the larger Pokemon might also hit his bag and the Pokemon residing inside. But luckily for him, the Metang doesnât even touch the Purrloin, the larger Pokemon having complete control and its trainer trusting it easily. Amazing, Carmichael thinks to himself, happy that someone had helped him with his situation. Well, until the trainer starts talking to him, though, it feels more like criticizing than anything else. The top of his ears turn red. âI wouldâve figured something out,â he says, catching his bag with a little grace. âYeah, theyâre inside and that was totally on me. I shouldâve been more careful.â A beat. âThank you, for helping me.âÂ
psichiicâ:
     she taps her temple when her hand is freed of its carry duty, teasing smile on her lips. itâs not entirely true, mostly, but wouldnât put it past kadabra and all of his psychic force to actually be able to read her mind. sabina turns for a second, recalling her pokemon into his ball as sheâs sure he wants the quiet for meditation. thatâs when ralts pokes its head up from her backpack again, theyâre never too far.  â ralts helps get the command across. â sabina keeps the soft smile, hopes to ease the boy about a voice resonating in his head when he still sounds unnerved.  â donât worry about it. iâm glad i could help. is everything in there intact ?  â  now thereâs concern in her eyes.
The voice catches him off guard, Carmichael going still and only blinking. Was that-- âIs that you? Talking, thinking?â Whatâs the proper phrase to use in this moment? Heâs not entirely sure. âUm.â It takes him a few seconds to really check his bag, still caught up on the trainer and her Ralts, before he finally makes sure everything is fine. And luckily for him, everything and everyone is there. Carmichael sighs in relief. âYeah, everything is there. Thank you.â
invcrsedâ:
they seem interested, at least, and ali will call that a small win â he hasnât completely embarrassed himself in front of them. their question makes him pause, trying to think of how to answer. how do you tell someone you might be off in another city trying to rehab shadow pokemon? âi hope so. laurel has me running all over, unfortunately.â a half truth, but one he hoped could be forgiven. âbut iâm hoping iâll catch some of the change.â her face lights up as they talk about battling, and he smiles â he wishes he could be that passionate about it, after all â until they assume heâs going to give them a good battle. with how excited she is, though, he canât bring himself to dash their hopes. âiâll do my best to give you a good fight, but you overestimate me.âÂ
She nods. âI hope youâre able to catch the change as well.â Not for his research but for Zuriâs own selfish desires. With Ali agreeing to battle against her, Zuri is already pulling out her first pokeball, pressing the button to make the device grow to full size. âPlease, Iâm sure youâre an amazing trainer! Trust me, Iâm never wrong about this type of stuff,â she says with the utmost confidence. âWeâll do a simple three on three, sounds good?âÂ
leilareportâ:
ANY LOCATION ; it was rough work, editing your own footage. but leila tries to keep an optimistic vibe. sheâs only been in the industry for a couple of years, but she was no slowpoke; rather, she tries to absorb all the things she could around her in order to further her own personal agendas. currently, the point in the agenda required for her to put together this quick reel of coordinator interviews she conducted a while ago to send back to her station, but quickly realized that she was just a bit short of footage to really give it that âoomphâ sheâs looking for. spotting somebody passing by, leila looks up from her device and tries to wave them down. âno, no, not a battle! just a ..question! a quick one, promise!â ; @shadowstartâ
Zuri always assumes that whenever someone is flagging them down, itâs to battle. So of course, theyâre pulling out a pokeball when the other is waving them over. Only to stop when the other continues to talking, disappointment evident on their face. âOh,â they say. âOkay. Whatâs your question?âÂ
leilareportâ:
with trained calmness, one that didnât really show itself during her job, leila glanced at the offending purrloin and then back to carmichael. quickly assessing what she could do, the young woman decided against calling out another one of her own pokemon. nat-nat, the natu on her shoulder, could only look on the other with a curious glance as leila gave a reassuring smile. âpurrloins can sense your anxiety, i believe. and they are more afraid of you than you are of them.â though half of their sentence honestly came from one of her grandmotherâs well-intentioned monologues, leila hoped it would give the other comfort. âbut if we need to battle it, well .. so be it.â she looked at him questioningly. âd-did you want me to battle it?â
âIt doesnât look like itâs afraid of me.â The Purrloin seems to be mocking him and he doesnât like it one bit. But he does appreciate the other for trying to calm him, really, because it does help... Just a little but it still helped! âUh--â Carmichael looks at her, eyebrows furrowed. âOnly if you want to? But if you do, you have to be careful! It is holding my Pokemon.â Luckily he still has his Pokemon Egg with him but thatâs only one unofficial member of his team.
invcrsedâ:
they give him a chance to talk about his favorite subject, and he practically lights up, despite not wanting to appear overeager. âso deerling, theyâre meant to change with the seasons, but i have not seen it myself. you see how they are green?â he points to their smooth fur, careful not to move too quickly. âa few weeks ago, these same ones were actually pink. give it a month, and they should be orange. supposedly.â he contains his excitement with a sheepish grin when he turns back, tapping his pen against his notebook with nervous energy. âthat sounds like a trip to the medical center to me. you really can find trainers to battle in these parts?â Â
Zuri nods her head, listening closely to everything he says. Talks about Deerlings isn't interesting but she can't deny the fact that she likes how Ali's face lights up as he talks about said Pokemon. This guy is truly a nerd, she thinks, lips tweaking upwards at the thought. "Are you gonna be out here again to see them turn orange?" She thinks about capturing a Deerling and turning it into a Shadow Pokemon, just a little surprise waiting for Ali when the seasons change. Wouldn't that be a perfect gift from Apatite! "Most likely, there's always a trainer lurking somewhere. Or even trainer that's standing right in front of you." Now it's her turn for her eyes to sparkle at something that interests her: battling. "You know your stuff which means youâve got to be an exceptional trainer. Let's battle!"
invcrsedâ:
âoh â well,â he trails off, scratching the back of his head with some embarrassment, his small smile sheepish. âiâŚgot distracted, i guess. i havenât seen deerling like this before.â heâs heard they change with the seasons, of course, but he didnât know it was true. he quirks an eyebrow at their training statement â when he had mentioned zuriâs name to a friend, they had told him exactly how good of a trainer she really was. âyou sure these deerling will be enough of a challenge to them?â
âReally?â Zuri asks, eyes shifting to the Deerling before going back to Ali. The Pokemon doesnât interest her but the individual before her does. âWhatâs so special about it? Iâm curious.â Sheâs not but Ali doesnât need to know that. She does, however, smile slyly. âYou never know, there might be a powerful Deerling around here,â she says. âOr maybe some trainers who want to take me on in a battle.âÂ
invcrsedâ:
heâs crouched, watching the summer deerling through the tall grass, notebook open beside him. before he is startled into standing, attention shifting to them. âzuri,â he says in lieu of a greeting, recalling their name with a genuine smile, hand going to jez to check on her out of habit. ânot catch, no, just some research for the professor. iâve heard some of the towns people saw azumarill over here. are you trying to make leo some friends?âÂ
âAh,â she says with a nod. âWell, did you find one or did you give up and decide to watch that Deerling instead?â Zuri zeroes in on the Pokemon, debating if she should capture it or not. If Ali wasnât around, she wouldâve taken out her one Shadow Pokemon and use this as a perfect training opportunity but alas, that cannot happen. âNah, I donât think Leo wants anymore friends,â Zuri says. âI came out here to train my main team.â
auraspheresâ:
in the colder months, winter preferred to make the trek from route three to undella town on foot. the stretch through the cities was time consuming, but the reward of breaking out from the metropolitan into lostlorn forest and beyond made it worth it. this was one of the few times they intersected another person on this path, though.
âcat burgled?â they stood beside the clearly embarrassed trainer, omelette attempting to squeeze himself into their arms the minute they stopped moving. they knew just how irritating purrloin could be, gloating with their catch on a lower hanging branch of the tree. âhmmm⌠i have an ideaâair slash!â
spurred on by the command, the jubilee pokemon whirled and sent a slim blade of air hurtling at the purple feline. it flinched! the motion was enough, and the bag tumbled from its sharp little jaws, plummeting like a stone into the bushes below. they stepped hesitantly towards the tree, intent on avoiding the now irritated purrloin while collecting its stolen goods.
âYeah, cat burgled.â Heâs almost too embarrassed to say it out loud. At the other trainerâs command, Carmichael watches carefully, holding his breath as his bag plummeted like that. Fuck, he thinks, groaning and praying that his Pokemon are perfectly okay in their pokeballs. âUm, thank you,â he says. âFor doing that.âÂ
psichiicâ:
     mistakes happen, a lapse in concentration is something she can all too well relate to, thereâs no reason for the red sitting so saturated on his cheeks. but she gets in, asking for help even when you need it isnât the first option she goes to either. if anything, itâs brave of him to approach her like he did. the smile is not mocking, itâs meant to be an attentive one as her eyes scan for the said kitty stuck in a tree, the hanging bag that has no business being up there helping immensely her scouting job. sabina offers him a nod along with a smile, knows that kadabra is itching to get some revenge on the last purrloin that sucker punched him last. getting closer to the said tree, she sends her pokemon out, and the type counter doesnât bother her much as she had another plan in mind than a fight that could damage the bag. sheâs noticed the stacked up sleeping combees on a higher branch, and in a perfect synchronism with her thoughts, kadabra uses psycho cut on it, leaving the duo to watch a scared cat dropping the bag in surprise and flee with the angry hive on its tail. the happy psi pokemon makes sure to stop the bag in its fall, levitating it towards his trainer for easier retrieval. she grabs it, hopping back to the other trainer with her good boy on her heels, offering the lost item back.
She does it all with ease and no need to utter a single command, Carmichael is in complete awe. âHow did you--â He almost asks but stops as he takes his bag back, smile gentle and small on his face. âThank you for getting this,â he says instead. âReally. I probably wouldâve continued to panic if you hadnât showed up.âÂ
LOCATION && WITH WHOM : : ROUTE 6 W / @invcrsedâ
âHey, youâre the guy from before.â She snaps her fingers before pointing. âAli! Yeah, Ali and his cute Pokemon Jez,â Zuri says, smiling gently. âWhatcha doing out here? Looking for some Pokemon to capture?â
LOCATION && WITH WHOM : : ROUTE 15 W / ANYONE @shadowstartâ
Well. This is embarrassing, like, really embarrassing. So embarrassing that Carmichael canât even bring himself to remove his hands from his face, not wanting to face the reality of the situation. Itâll only make him groan and sink into an even more depressive episode. But he does look through his fingers, just for a few seconds, to see if his prayers have been answered. Unfortunately, they have not as the thing he tries to pray away... stares back at him from the tree, Carmichaelâs bag in its hand. What bag exactly? Oh, you know, his bag that carries his ribbon case, potions, empty pokeballs, and the pokeballs that house his team of Pokemon. Yes, all three of his Pokemon were still inside of their pokeballs, probably shaking their heads in disappointment at their trainer who could do nothing to save them. Itâs humiliating! Luckily for him, Carmichael spots another trainer nearby, and while he didnât want to ask for help, he desperately need it. âHey, uh,â he called out, cheeks flushed red. âCould you help me out with something? That Purrloin stole my bag when I wasnât looking.âÂ
