Pairing: Shizuo/Izaya

“Shizu-chan, do me a favor?”
Shizuo held out his hand, palm up, and Izaya placed his own on it.
“So when do you think Shizuo’s going to figure out that you like him?”
It had started as just Izaya just wanting Shizuo to hold something for him. When Shizuo held out his hand, Izaya would hang a bag from his fingers or put a book on his palm. But one day, he decided to just put his hand there, see what Shizuo did.
Except look a little surprised.
Shizuo had raised an eyebrow but accepted it and Izaya kept his hand there for ten minutes before he needed it back. So when he began to fall for the kid he’d been friends with since kindergarten, Izaya decided to keep going about this roundabout way to get to hold his hand without having to explain why or confess.
And it seemed Shizuo had never caught on. At first it had been just an awkward hand on hand situation, but then eventually they’d lower their laced fingers, actually be holding hands while they walked home. Shizuo never questioned Izaya’s actions unless he had a bad feeling about them, so Izaya was able to enjoy holding Shizuo’s hand without ever having to tell him of his crush.
“Shizu-chan either will never find out or he knew from the first time I asked him,” Izaya answered lazily, hand cradling his face and other flipping the pages of his book.
Shinra looked amused. “So when are you going to confess?”
“Mm… probably if Shizu-chan starts showing he likes me. Being rejected isn’t fun.”
“What a grand realization–”
Falling silent when the door slid open, both teenagers looked up to see Shizuo standing at the doorway. He seemed a bit out of breath and Shinra gave a bright wave that went ignored. Walking over, Shizuo stopped right in front of Izaya’s desk.
Izaya blinked, held out his hand.
And Shizuo took it in his own.
“…You did it wrong, Shizu-chan.”
