How the hell is this drawing so critically underrated?! It is so good!
All it's missing is king bob-omb because he's just that iconic, more iconic than bob-omb battlefield itself I'd even argue.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but...
Very short and impromptu compared to my usual longer posts, but I believe it needs to be said: If you are american, I hope you vote democrat no matter what! Meanwhile, I'll silently pray that he hopefully doesn't win since I can't vote.
What I'm seeing happening in the U.S.A. scares the ever living shit out of me because while I don't live there and am not affected by any of it short-term, in the long-term this may affect me. After all, Trump controls the most powerful country in the world with a large military and a catalogue of nuclear bombs at his disposal.
I would've not said this back in 2016 or even in 2020 following the insurrection attempt. To me, Trump was a bumbling buffoon who didn't care about anything and deflected a lot at his worst and at his best I saw him as a businessman knowledgeable in economics, but now I realize how much I was underplaying it to say the least, Trump's mask slipped and now it's clear he is a hate-mongering sex pest charlatan and pretty much everything wrong with our world. Although it's more nuanced than simply saying "oh he's a fascist" as he's not in complete power, I finally understand why people insist on saying he is one, before I thought they were alarmists and chalked their claims up to Trump derangement syndrome.
Not sure if anyone has done this but I wanted to share this little easter egg done by DuckDuckGo (DDG) when you type 'linux' in the search bar and you'll get a little penguin with a bowtie in place of the regular duck in DDG's logo!
There is one for a lot of different things. I noticed it at first when I looked up "reddit" and the logo was the mascot of reddit. The second time ever I noticed it was with GitHub and the last time I ever encountered this Easter egg was with Naruto.
Personally, I think it's distracting. I don't even use ddg nearly as much as I used to recently because 3 times out of 5 the search results are full of garbage and I have to switch to something else to find what I want, but a toggle option would still be appreciated.
HOW TO TURN OFF GOOGLE AI in GMAIL:
Open Gmail in your browser
Click on the Gear Icon ⚙️ in the upper right
In the General Tab, scroll down to "Smart Features" and UNCHECK THE BOX. It is about halfway down.
Then, right below that is Google Workspace smart features. Click on the "Manage Workspace Smart Features" and make sure both toggles are OFF
Scary Door ‘Resident Evil’ SEGA Saturn
I'm always reminded of what was basically a glorified loading screen whenever independent developers put an animation like this into every door transition of their PS1-inspired game jam submissions and I'm like man this is so annoying, each and every time they do that.
The only game that did it right was Spooky's House of Jumpscares since it only plays once after leaving a safe floor. This small detail cleverly built tension and emphasized that you were once again in danger. That's one of many little things I loved about the game.
Okay, so you’ve picked up Marx, maybe dabbled in communism, and now you’re all fired up about revolution. 👏 But before you dive in too deep and start calling yourself a “tankie” (or whatever’s trending these days), can I suggest something real quick? Read Animal Farm. 👀
I know, everyone knows Animal Farm, right? But honestly, I’m not sure how many of you have actually read it—and I mean really read it. Animal Farm isn’t just some cute little farm story with talking animals. It’s Orwell’s warning about why communism doesn’t work—and why it never will. 🐷➡️👨🌾
The animals overthrow their human oppressors, right? They’re all about equality—everyone is equal. But by the end, the pigs are walking on two legs, living in the house, and looking just like the humans they kicked out. That’s the point. The revolution gets corrupted, the leaders become just as bad as the ones they replaced, and the whole system falls apart. No matter how good the intentions are, when power’s involved, it all falls into the same mess. 😬
You’ve probably seen people online talking about how communism is the future, how it’s this radical change we all need. But let’s be real: look at the countries closest to communism today—North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela. Does that seem like the kind of world you wanna live in? Is that freedom? Is that happiness? Are those societies thriving? Because from where I’m standing, it’s more like a dystopia. 👀
So before you put that hammer and sickle in your bio, give Animal Farm another read. It’s not just a book—it’s history. It’s a cautionary tale that shows us why it doesn’t work and why it never will. We need new ideas, fresh thinking. Use that brainpower you’re flexing for change to build something that actually works. 💡🔥
Stop identifying with the same old ideologies that have been proven to fail, and start building something better. The future’s waiting for you. ✌️🌍
You cannot be serious
It's crazy, but I think I'm so woke aware that I both understand the point @arcane-apidae was enthusiastically trying to make while also clearly seeing why his specific comment comparing Animal Farm to Communism is fundamentally wrong.
So first, a quick disclaimer, I haven't read Animal Farm, I'm going off Arcane's description of the book.
The reason this entire argument is flawed, and you better believe it, is because what he's describing is not real communism. The idea of leftism is to remove the power structure in its entirety and it achieves it in different ways:
Socialism: It flips the pyramid of power on its head and gives the workers the most electoral and governmental power over those who don't do any work I.E. secretaries, bourgeois, etc. In this situation, if you were president, you would have absolutely no power, you would just be a figurehead who gives speeches and nothing else. In order to achieve that, the workers must own the means of production, which makes everybody else dependent on them.
Anarchism: It does away with the power structure entirely. "Anarchy", it's on the tin; no laws, but still some people who identify as anarchists would argue they make the rules themselves and enforce them themselves. So, I guess if you commit murder in an anarchist society you'd either get mobbed to death or put in a cage, at the very least I assume either of those scenarios would be what would happen.
Communism: As the name implies it puts front and center the importance of the commune that you reside in, and you are expected to share your goods and any resource you've worked hard on with everyone else present in said commune. Stupid analogy, but since my explanation might leave some of my readers confused because it's a very abridged description of it: Communism is pretty much like a wolf pack that hunts for food and then eats it together, except you replace the wolves with people.
The key takeaway here is that leftism as a whole is supposed to be leaderless, so Animal Farm is absolutely irrelevant in this discussion.
However, the issue with communism is that it is inherently based on trust, and leftists have still yet to figure out a way to prevent bad apples from taking over. All of arcane's examples are not of real communism, but they are good examples of what happens when a populist highjacks the movement and takes all the power to himself. Hell, even Hitler and Mussolini did it. All these 20th century dictators are right-wing, yes all of them including Stalin, and I'd even argue tankies have more in common with fascists than socialists.
The only time REAL capital-C Communism has been tried for REAL was within CHAZ during the 2020 racial unrest. That's it, I can't think of any other examples.
In an ironic way, this ideation of a perfect world under communism was partly why I used to support socialism and considered myself a leftist (and not a liberal, really a socialist), but after realizing that fault in the system I reconverted into a social democrat. I'd rather live poor and unhappy in a capitalist system than starving and sent to a concentration camp because the next revolution led to a dipshit getting into power once again. The saddest part is it's probably human nature that we want a leader to rule over us, even when we say we don't.
Oof, wrote way more than I needed to lol.

Ukulele Pichu (2010) - Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs Illustrator: Kouki Saitou
By far the best partner any rangers could ever wish to have. This Pichu has just so much personality and is way more helpful than a lot of the Pokemons I used throughout the game.
I played through Shadows of Almia as well, and the partners in that game are way worse because they are only used in poké assists. They don't do much work of their own otherwise.
Irrelevant sidenote: If this game released today, the past missions would be called "Roguelike" by the players. I will never not be annoying about how badly people have run this word to the ground.

Legends ZA comes out tomorrow! I'm choosing Totodile as my starter!
Good pick and great drawing! I freaking love the artstyle!
Got this in my mailbox today because I've been subscribed to their newsletter since 2016~2018. One word: LOL
How about you start your "counterculture" magazine by making a statement against A.I.? After all, the wealthy big tech oligarchs like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates all love A.I. and they shove it into everything at every opportunity. It's causing harm to the Earth and you know it, you aren't THAT ignorant Mozilla, come on!
And why the hell would I use perplexity or some other unnecessary A.I. tool you add as a "feature" when I have Opera GX which already covers all your bases and you.com which is an ai-powered search engine I already had in my search shortcuts!? You are so out of touch with reality and what your users want it's crazy!
This whole thing reads like a screed of virtue signaling and nothing more given Mozilla's recent track record - you are just as bad if not worse than your competitors. Perhaps they should start off by addressing the core problems with Firefox instead of making it slower with more A.I. garbage following each new release!
you can't design a character that looks like it belongs in an action platformer and just. not make it
I went back through my likes and saw this drawing still not getting any interactions, so I'm reposting it.
It's way too underrated and seriously deserves more public attention! You guys should definitely check this artist out if you're reading this blog post.
