dull start. [AV Open]
Oh god, how selfish was she acting?! There was a young boy in front of her injured and she was concerned about where she’d be staying?! There had to be some way she could help him. She pretty much ignored the strange animal that was beside the blond and bent her knees to meet his eye level.
She couldn’t see his eyes past those thick-lensed glasses, but she could tell he was in a significant amount of pain. She focused on his words, taking each and every one into account. First of all, it was strange that he could get hurt. Wasn’t everyone here dead? She pursed her lips as he continued to warn her of the Shadows lurking about. Great… She sighed.
She wasn’t a SHSL Swordswoman like Peko-chan… Nor was she a Gymnast with a thirst for violence or a burly Coach like Akane-chan and Nidai. She was just a photographer. What could she do?
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed something crawling about in the dark. She turned her head in its direction. Its shape was odd, not humanoid at all. Had those creatures followed the boy? It was only one of them, fairly small in size, but she didn’t know what to expect. It seemed like it hadn’t noticed them.
Koizumi put a gentle hand over the young boy’s mouth, talking in a hushed but stern tone.
“I don’t mean to cut your warning short, but there’s a Shadow right by us. It hasn’t noticed us yet..”
By impulse, Koizumi took the hand of the young boy and pulled him behind her. She started to step backwards towards the closest building: a vacant apartment complex. It was over a couple of feet away but they could make it if they were quiet enough. Koizumi held her camera in the other hand, hoping to be able to use it somehow. Perhaps the flash would blind the creature long enough for them to get away?
The Shadow soon noticed and rushed towards the two with a great speed. Koizumi felt a panic, but she remained calm to the best of her abilities. She shoved the blond and his pet ahead, towards the complex while she held her camera in hand. When it was a mere couple of feet away, Koizumi flashed her camera, the flash overwhelming the creature. It became rattled long enough for Koizumi to run, and drag the boy with her into the complex. The door was slammed shut, and the redhead slid onto the floor, her back against the wood. She gasped for breath.
Despite the fact that no stranger - let alone a responsible adult - was likely to believe tales of 'shadows that moved on their own', logically speaking, Clemont could only but hope his words had been sensible enough to see as truth: after all, if he and Heliolisk had only barely escaped thanks to another helping them, goodness knew what they were capable of doing to even seasoned adults, so even if they did no believe, it was vital to warn them. The mademoiselle seemed thoughtful about his words, which seemed encouraging, but then leaned forward with an unexpected, deliberate slowness.
Was she shushing him?! Goodness, he couldn't say he cared for being treated like a child in that manner, and if she couldn't see the annoyed look behind his glasses, she'd probably notice the frown on his face, at least, but it faded on hearing how quiet her words were. Logically speaking, one who was treating people like little kids had no reason to do this. No, what behaviour rationalized such actions was if there was danger around, and the frown turned to a grim straight line at his rationalization being proved very true in her words.
So...there'd been one more tag-along of the shadows he and the boy hadn't spotted, and it'd followed him and Heliolisk, huh? He really didn't want to drag the adult into trouble, he felt bad enough that had unwittingly happened with the other kid, but before he could even turn to try and face the monster as best he could, to try and buy the adult some time to get away, he found himself being yanked backwards, Heliolisk hissing and turning at the shaodw...but deciding following the young master was of more important, and chased after the boy as he had little choice but to run given his hand was being held tightly.
(Why did there have to be running again so soon? He wasn't good at it at all.) Yet, there was little choice, despite the physically bad-at-running and exercise nerd slowing down soon enough and drawing shaky breaths, despite his best efforts to be tired. The mademoiselle must have noticed him slowing, and to make the matters worse, the shadow had too, and Clemont let out a sharp yelp at being shoved, but did his best to pick up the speed - as much as he tried, though, he was too slow.
He was a boy of science and 'mental' prowess, not 'physical' strengths. It was probably better to turn and fight, though he knew full well he stood no chance in his state, and Heliolisk would likely have to be returned for his own safety - at least then ONE person might get away, logically speaking. Though, the adult was clearly having none of it as he tottered to a stop, shaky sharp breaths being taken in: going as far as to stun the shadowy being with a flash from the camera she had before darting and yanking him once more, Heliolisk hot on their heels, into the nearby vacant apartment complex.
The sudden movements had been enough to take the shadow off-guard, for there was no scratching or wild bashing at the door, and the unathletic Clemont feel to his knees wheezing, all too thankful for the halted running.
"O-one....ONE moment of r-running away from them is t-too many....Mon Dieu."
Heliolisk moved to him worriedly and chirped a few times, before Clemont managed to wheeze out a few more words.
"M-mademoiselle...why didn't you just leave me there and run on your own? I wanted to warn people a-about the shadows, not get t-them caught up in them..."
