Hili, hope you're doing well 🤍 I wanted to ask you a few questions about Procreate if you don't mind
I've been following you for a while now and i sincerely love your work so much that you've kinda motivated me to get back into digital art !
I've been drawing for about 10 years now, but l've always drawn mainly on paper, so getting back into Procreate has been a bit complicated ngl😭 I think the main problem is the sketch process... Do you have any brush recommendations? Also, I feel like I never know when to stop : I either draw too much or not enough and i think that's why I'm never completely satisfied, even though layers helps fix these flaws a bit in the end
thank you and i wish you a wonderful day/night🤍
Hello dear! I'm doing alright, thank you for asking !! ♡
Aah I'm so happy to hear I've got you motivated to get into digital art! It can definitely be a little daunting, and I'm personally also still learning a lot along the way, as I haven't been making digital art for that long either (I think like 3ish years now in total), so I totally understand how you feel!
Something I personally like to do with sketching is set my brush a little bigger / wider than I'd do with my lineart/rendering. I just feel like your sketching process will flow a little better compared to when the brush you're using is set too thin - if that makes any sense, haha! The brush I use for sketching is a custom one, but it's similar to the HB pencil that's standardly included in the Procreate classic library!
Not being completely satisfied is something I personally experience a lot too! I often have to step away from the artwork I've made for the night/a day to come back to it later, or ask some friends for their opinions. It's honestly a really personal process though, so it's hard for me to give you some proper advice on that part.
Just draw a lot, like a LOT lot - that's the best advice I could possibly give you. My iPad's in my hands on the daily (granted, I also need to draw for work), but whenever you have a free 30min/hour, just doodle something / try some new brushes etc.! I've noticed since I've started making fanart again last summer that I've grown SO much in my own digital art skills, so it's really just a progress that will come naturally, I think! I also just love to look at other digital artists for inspiration (how the draw poses, use colors, compositions etc.), I feel like we can all learn a lot from one another! :-)
Hope this was a tiny bit helpful & will motivate you to keep your digital art endeavors going! ♡ - C.
