#genuinely: this is what further research into the famous 'marshmallow test' showed#it wasn't that kids who were able to delay gratification were more likely to be successful later on#due to intrinsic qualities#it was that kids who had a stable upbringing were more likely to be successful#and ALSO: those kids had trust that their caregivers would keep promises#which is WHY they were willing to give up one marshmallow now for the promise of two marshmallows later#kids who did NOT have trustworthy caregivers#or who were in a fundamentally unstable situation#DID NOT have that trust so they wanted their one marshmallow NOW#same deal here i think#it's not that Gen Z is bratty#it's that they have no trust in the system and no faith that promises will be fulfilled#and frankly i do not blame them -@cicerfics
God I wish there were better ways of searching for specific posts on social media; because what do you mean I accidentally unfavorited a TikTok that was essentially someone just reading a tumblr post but it was an incredibly detailed post about DickKory and how they were written to grow together and how even though DC constantly wants us to forget they were together in the main comics timeline, almost every adaption outside of the comics has them together because people are inexplicably drawn to DickKory and their relationship(this post even went into detail about how Babs was originally older then Dick and how de-aging her and making her batgirl again so they could be together was a disservice to her character) and how Iâve been looking for that post on here for daysđ
Y'know sometimes what makes me mad about how DC erased DickKory isn't the fact that they're not together anymore and the editorial actively closes the possibility for that in the future. But that in doing so/to do so they erased such a big part of Dick and Kory's characterization that they don't make sense anymore to me. Dick was greatly influential in Kory's perspective in violence/fighting, being with Kory and maturing into an adult laid the foundations of Nightwing, it wasn't a fuck you to Bruce and even if it was, they made Nightwing an accessory of the Batfam. I'd love to know if the current canon is better now that they have the Titans but the narrative is just so intertwined that I feel like they completely lost the script.
DCâs reasoning for breaking up Dick and Kory is painfully ironic if you stop to think about it. Obviously a big part of Dick is that he desperately wanted to get out of Bruceâs shadow and become his own hero. Basically what happened is they realized they did too good of a job of bringing Dick Grayson out of Batmanâs shadow that people were associating him with the titans more than they did with Batman and the Batman writers hated it. So they broke them up and put Dick with Batgirl. This is crazy considering a huge part of Dickâs character is getting out of Batmanâs shadow.
They were super popular too. The only comic couple outselling them was Peter and MJ.
âblah blah blah stop centering Koryâs narrative around Dickâ
oh yeah? well i want Dickâs narrative to center around Kory. I want her to be fucking inescapable. I want her to haunt the living shit out of runs SHE ISNT EVEN IN. I want someone to say something that reminds him of her. I want her to be the manifestation of his regret, of his longing for a different life, a counter to his obligation to Bruce: his obligation to his parents. Wouldnât they have wanted grandkids? Wouldnât they have just wanted him to be happy? I want her to be what he thinks of when heâs lonely, when heâs hurt, when he wakes up in a hospital and for a split second, before he opens his eyes, think maybe? and come to realize that one of the nurses must just use the same shampoo. i want him to see her on magazines and billboards and just ache. i want him to wish that donna would mention how sheâs doing when he calls and then regret even asking because hearing it: good or bad, hurts too much. i want him to work a child trafficking case and be sick the entire time, unable to get an eleven year old version of her out of his head. i want him to finally break said case and sit in the station hallway with his forehead in one hand and cell phone in the other and wish so hard that he could and know that he canât.
more leftists should be vegan. veganism and leftism operate on the same beliefs. social justice, no exploitation of labor, autonomy, environmental concern, intersectionality, an equal and just living etc. leftist praxis should include veganism
Animal welfare and animal rights are different things; it is good and normal for humans to be slightly anthropocentric while acknowledging our role within the greater ecosystem. Factory farming should indeed be dismantled- I want all animals harvested for food/leather/fur/bones/organs to have full and rich lives with as little suffering as possible before they're harvested. But it is not anti-leftist to live as a predator within the ecosystem. It is not more wrong for humans to eat salmon than it is for bears and eagles to do so.
I'm totally obsessed with the idea of Kiribaku and Izuocha, but both Eijiro and Ochako just assume Izuku and Katsuki are also in a relationship because of How They Are. I also like the idea of the four of them living in the same house like in a sitcom. And sometimes Shouto just Appears, and they're all convinced he lives in their vents.
I was just thinking about you post and how everyone can kind of see themselves in Percy, then I thought about Aphrodite and Nemesis and how they take the forms of those you love and hate respectively. I also remember the post about how the chicken or the egg scenario where do gods take the traits of their children or the other way around.
It spun around making me thing of gods, DNA, Conceptual beings half god, half human, half conceptual and half human. The concept of Kleios, glory, legends and how they relate to gods and heroes.
And it finally got me thinking, what if the concept of hero has attached itself to Percy and it affects how people see him?
Similar to Aphrodite taking the form of what people find attractive, and Nemesis taking the form of peopleâs enemies, what if when people look at Percy he starts to look or embody the traits people find inspiring? The hero inside themselves or what they believe a hero should be.
Like the reason all the cabins see something in him is because like the original Perseus, heâs the legend and embodiment of the hero. The blueprint for heroes going forwards.
Heroes sometimes had small followings and worshippers, if gods can change because of their believes, could heroes be similar.
I almost donât like this idea because of the existential dread of your existence being manipulated by people and the image they have of you but itâs good for thought.
mmmm that's bars.
i've also been like sitting on the concept of the "heroes" being sort of venerated and worshipped within canon. like with the religion itself, they also worship the heroes and have shrines and the like in their honor, not just the gods. honestly i think it stemmed from...this post + this post. like percy writing and publishing his books within canon as a way to reach the demigods in every corner of the world as well as make some money but then it like blows up and gets super popular and a fandom forms within canon and it has like a similar effect where they have their own canonical cults in a way. and similar to that unwilling ascension au where the kids at chb start to pray to percy and accidentally make him a god?
but then percy sort of inheriting a similar power that aphrodite and nemesis have.....that's peak. and omg remember the scene with circe where she showed him a "better" version of himself and percy wanted to be that soooo bad...only to inevitably morph into that as the books went on? his "true form" isn't even his true form but how he wants to view himself. makes for a sort of horror aspect in a way? like depersonalization x100000
i wonder if anyone would be able to see his true form and who it would be. i'm tempted to say annabeth just bc i'm a filthy shipper but. she initially believed him to be a child of zeus in the beginning and that could be her just seeing what she believes as "heroic" within him rather than who he is. i think rachel would be similar where her first introduction to him is him as a hero and then he goes on to serve as a source of sanity for her so he's still a hero in that regard. hazel mistaking him for a god when she first met him. dionysus seeing theseus when he looks at percy. âŠthis oneâs a bit of a stretch butâŠmay seeing luke when he visited her house in tlo đ
honestly i would probably say reyna? just bc she was previous hurt by him and didn't see him as a hero and then in son had moments of "you're not a dumb as you make yourself look" where she is implied to...not really "look down on him" but sort of...hold him to lesser standards? bc he hurt her so how could he be adored in any regard? but she slowly learned more about him as himself, not what people praise him for at chb and not for any glorious acts he's done in the past, including what happened on circe's island.
or grover i guess for being soul tied to him or whatever LMAO
Having children in your life who arenât yours can be exhausting because what do you mean youâre letting your two year cry himself to sleep because you think youâre winning a âbattle of willsâ and forcing everyone(to include your neighbors because you insist that going outside will help even though youâre going outside for the fifth time) to witness it? A two year old who, mind you barely even says full words(he usually only say the first syllable or two itâs something weâre trying to fix) and you think he can all of a sudden articulate why heâs crying and what he wants to fix it. The poor baby is probably just confused as to why the parent who is usually kind and loving isnât helping them. Heâs tired and just woke up in the middle of the night, I think the answer as to why heâs crying is obvious whether or not you want to admit it. And you donât have take my advice but maybe listen to the people who are more experienced then you when they offer advice or help(but you wonât because again you think itâs a âbattle of willsâ). All I know is that the quickest way to start drama, especially within a family, it to critique parents on how theyâre raising their children.
The tldr of my godsonâs life is that his father tries too hard to force his way and mother doesnât try enough because what do you mean youâve given up on trying to get your toddler back to sleep and just let him start his day at 3:45 am? If other people, including myself, can get your child back to sleep at this time I donât think youâve truly tried everything but, again just like your husband, you deny the help of people more experienced then you in this for some stupid reason unknown to me.

I can't wait for my algorithm on social media to be cleansed from pjotv because I need a break from this nonsense before s3 airs. What do you mean now show stans are blaming "book purists" for something the writers of the show decided to do?
There's a recent interview with Leah going around where she says that she doesn't understand why people are complaining about percabeth. In s1 people said it was rushed and in s2 people were complaining that the hugs and cheek kiss were cut. So now we have a lot of posts like "I will NEVER forgive book purists for the rushed percabeth allegations, because of them we didn't get the the cheek kiss đĄ."
What is so confusing about wanting the show to keep the intimacy progression of the books? None of this would have happened if they didn't add shit where it didn't belong and kept the scenes that existed.
Why are you blaming the fans for a decision the writers made? Book purists want the show to be more accurate to the source material and they respond by changing more stuff but in the other direction â cutting instead of adding. That makes no sense.
Y'all are so scared of criticizing the show that you're placing the blame on people who had nothing to do with the process of creating it.
If you want to blame someone, blame the writers. I promise your hand won't fall down.
people who only use conventional social media are so funny bc theyâll casually be like âcan I see your tumblr??â are you Insane. this is no instagram or twitter. this is my vault of secrets
