Any thoughts on the UT/DR Latin localization discourse?

i think toby fox should've localized the game in languages other than just english and japanese a long time ago? it definitely reflects poorly on him when one of the most-spoken languages in the world hasn't gotten a proper localization, especially when he's got such a dedicated team and has brought fans on-board to help out plenty of times before.

i was gonna add on some thoughts about toby's own follow-up on the matter, but this post basically summed up all of my feelings.

I think a lot of concerns on this matter aren't irrational, Its very frustrating, especially when most games have translations to a lot of languages nowadays, but I understand Toby's hesitance to translate into other languages. The development team is pretty small already and hes not exactly like those large studios that ARE able to translate into a lot of languages. Even if he hired professional translators, he wouldn't really be able to oversee it that well. Like, asides from making sure jokes land, or that certain hints or information is gotten across correctly, he would not be able to thoroughly check the translation of a language that he does not know... I suppose the thing is I don't see much of a point at all in making it, OFFICIAL, if its not something he can personally and thoroughly look over. The translation, official or not, would likely be of the same quality. (even in considering very clear communication.)

The only difference is that fans would be paid for their hard work, and the language would be in the game itself instead of as patches/mods... I can only be hopeful that something like that will happen in the future, when the game is closer to being completed, since his worries on not wanting development to drag on for too long keeps him from doing anything.
