“I told you Jiwoo, your daddy went with the police!” Mingyu exclaims in front of the little girl’s face, having to bend down to get to her level.
The confused little girl only hums confusingly, face scrunched up and lips pouting — similar to her father’s — as she wonders and gets on her tiptoes, walking back and forth.
Although you wanted to tell her that Seungcheol went to get meat for the barbecue, you were curious to see where this situation was going. It was no surprising fact that Jiwoo always wanted to know where her dad was every single second.
You see your little girl trot to you, the frills on her purple swimsuit bouncing up and down when she looks up with puppy eyes. “Yes baby?”
“Where is my daddy?”
Keeping up with the facade, you shrug, glancing at the other members trying to not laugh and give anything away. “Your uncle Mingyu already told you baby, he went with the police.”
“But I want him to come back…” The sadness in her voice made half of the boys slap each other on the back, unable to contain their reactions at the cute gesture.
Jiwoo turns, squinting at the beach she just played on earlier, about to stomp away before Joshua and Wonwoo quickly hold her back. Joshua picks her up to make sure she’ll stay in her place.
The three year old has a hand on Joshua’s face, head leaning to his shoulder. “Uncle ‘Shua, can we find daddy on the beach?”
About to reply, Joshua manages, “Sure, we can collect shells too,” before Mingyu cuts in with his loud nature.
“I already told you Jiwoo!” He has a smile ready for trouble. “He’s gone with the police and he’s not going to come back,” the members warn Mingyu with a low murmur, but he continues, “he’ll be with them forever!”
Face instantly changing, Jiwoo attempts to pry herself off Joshua only to get set free, walking in front of her uncles just in case she finds her father hiding behind them — she’s learnt that her uncles pull that trick on her a lot.
“Wuji,” she calls Jihoon, lifting her arms up to him, “daddy is coming back, right?”
Mingyu dramatically sighs once again, waving a dismissive hand. “Jiwoo you don’t get it, he’s already gone! You’re never going to see him—” Jeonghan’s hand hits Mingyu’s arm, disappointed although Mingyu can’t contain his smile.
Sitting on Jihoon’s lap, Jihoon playing with her hair, Jiwoo now glares at Mingyu, eyebrows furrowed.
“It’s true! I’ll even call the police station.” Mingyu whips out his phone, fake calling a number and talking nonsense to the phone — it’s how Jiwoo really falls for the trick.
Noticing her eyes tear up, she jumps away from her uncle’s lap and storms to Mingyu, about to hit him.
Soonyoung rushes to her first and squats down, potentially being a shield for Mingyu. “Jiwoo! Cabbie is here!” His hands form his crab impression, using the name Jiwoo uses because she can’t pronounce crab. He tries to keep her occupied, but her mind was already in panic mode.
Voice raising, she asks for Seungcheol again, demanding for him. Everyone looks at each other, half wanting to laugh but also having no clue on how to calm her down other than carrying her.
Running to your arms this time, Jiwoo hiccups a little when she hides her face. All deathly eyes on Mingyu, Chan gasps loud enough for everyone to hear, hoping the little girl would hear.
“Oh look! Daddy is there! He didn’t go to the police after all!” He looks at Mingyu at the end part, equally not as pleased.
“Daddy?” Jiwoo gasps, head instantly lifting up. You turn your head too, watching your husband walk towards you with Junhui and Vernon, carrying many bags. “Daddy!”
Jiwoo patiently waits for her father, toes jumping as if there was hot sand, arms around Seungcheol’s legs as she buries her head and begins to cry loudly.
The other members hold Seungcheol’s items, mainly raiding to see and compete who gets to eat what. Confused, Seungcheol picks up his little girl, pressing a kiss next to her tears, “I’m here,” he reassures, Jiwoo’s arms tightly around his neck, “what happened?”
Instead of asking Jiwoo, he turns to everyone else present who direct their eyes on Mingyu. Seungcheol looks at you for confirmation and you nod, silently turning Mingyu in.
“Kim Mingyu!” Seungcheol says angrily, almost kicking him. Mingyu chokes out a laugh, food in his mouth. “You made her cry!”
“I’m sorry Jiwoo,” Mingyu gets closer to the teary girl, frowning, “I didn’t mean to trick you like that. Forgive me please,”
Jiwoo turns away, still angered. This time Seungcheol smiles, slightly dying at his daughter’s behaviour. “Teddy bear,” Seungcheol calls Jiwoo, “your uncle Mingyu already said sorry, hug him before he gets sad too.”
And like that Jiwoo reaches over to the taller and hugs him, Mingyu giggling slightly.
“Thank you Jiwoo, now say ah,” Mingyu says, feeding her some food before going back to the other boys fighting for meat.
Seungcheol finally takes his seat next to you, you feeding him the food on your paper plate as he bounces Jiwoo on his leg, hands fiddling with her swimsuit.
“She really loves you,” you say.
“I know, and I love you both.” Seungcheol plants a kiss on your head, then Jiwoo who pecks him once more on the cheek. “I better get something to eat,”
As he stands and sets his little girl next to you, she grabs a fistful of Seungcheol’s shirt, whining. “I guess that’s no to food. C’mon, we can all share.” You state, Seungcheol sitting down with you and Jiwoo again.
“Are you planning to stay glued to my side the whole day?” Seungcheol asks Jiwoo, her hands removing his cap to play with his hair. Jiwoo can only giggle, reaching to hug her dad and staying in that position.
“Count me in as well,” you agree with your daughter, resting your head on Seungcheol’s shoulder as you lift the spoon to feed your hungry husband and tearful, awfully-hopeless-for-her-dad, daughter.

[seoul] you arrived at mingyu’s doorstep at seven in the evening on the dot. a bottle of riesling tucked under your arm. nothing fancy just you, mingyu, and some deliveries for dinner. he let you into the dorm with a big smile. the rest of the boys were out grabbing their own dinners or at pledis.
dinner was already set up on the table, a mix of chinese and korean cuisine. you poured the riesling into the waiting wine glasses. mingyu laughed at the funny work stories you shared and he in return caught you up with his life. wrapped in the cocoon of warmth ambience you brought the rest of the riesling into his room. the bottle was soon drained empty and you were tangled in a mess of long limbs and blanket.
mingyu mumbled something about being warm. he asked you to stay the night, too late to be going home alone. you sank deeper into the bed under his weight. you didn’t bother to push him off. mingyu was warm and comfortable. he was your personal weighted blanket. his roommate was none the wiser with the extra occupant in the room.

(( note: this is a tattoo soulmate au where one of the phrases your soulmate says is tattooed in their handwriting on your arm, however once it’s said, the words disappear and will have your soulmate’s name instead, enjoy~ ))
Slamming your palm on the table, you attract the bartender to come over, the latter setting down the glasses he was polishing.
“Another,” you grumble, tilting your glass tiredly and accidentally nudge it on the worker’s stomach.
“I’ll do as you ask, but this is your fourth glass and it’s worrying me.”
“Listen…” You guide the bartender to say his name, hand gesturing and waving the glass.
“Mingyu,” he introduces.”
“Listen Mingyu, it’s been a long day and soulmates suck.” Mingyu takes your empty drink as you knit your eyebrows, working on the beverage you’ve been requesting.
While working, he has a small smile, intrigued. “What did your soulmate do?”
“Not my soulmate,” corrects you, “my friend’s. She recently found her other half and now I’m the only one from out of all my friends that doesn’t have one.”
The bartender hums, nodding to indicate he was listening. “Sorry my mistake, I thought you and your soulmate were having troubles.”
“Oh, me?” Sitting up, you’re quick to defend yourself, staring at the slight word on your arm slipping out of your sleeve. “No, I haven’t met mine yet. Don’t think I ever will anyway.”
“Why not?”
“No one is ever going to say my phrase, I think the soulmate gods are playing tricks on me.” You answer, thinking over your destined set of words that you were grown to lying about because they were so stupid.
Finally finished with the drink, Mingyu pushes the glass near to your end, going to another customer and working on their order.
“So…”
“So?”
Mingyu watches you consume most of your drink in one go, waiting until you finished. “Are you going to tell me your phrase?”
Eyes glancing at your sleeve again, you slouch slightly, hesitant. “It’s food related, that’s all I got to say.” Because how would you admit your words were I’m attracted to pie, but I do not feel the need to date pie?
Nevertheless, Mingyu can only comply. “Well, gotta love a soulmate who loves food.”
You laugh along with Mingyu, shaking your head. “Yeah, sure do.” Crossing your arms on the wood, you want to know about this bartender a little more, given that he’s been listening to you rant and serving you drinks for an hour now. “What about you? A guy like you would’ve already probably found your soulmate,” you tut afterwards, “lucky. You get to rub it in my face…”
“’A guy like me’?”
“Whatever, you just… Have that aura.”
“Then you’d be surprised if I told you that I’m soulmate-free,” and it does surprise you, “and that my phrase is worse than yours.”
“Ooh, tell me!”
Mingyu drapes the small towel over his shoulder, sighing as he recites his tattoo, some of it revealed underneath his top, the top buttons unbuttoned, the permanent ink just under his collarbone.
He tells you and your mouth drops, wide-eyed. “’That’s bullshit, now come kiss me’? Your childhood must’ve been awful.”
“I’m not exaggerating when I say it was. My grandma wasn’t pleased at that. My family had to put bandages on my chest when I was a kid so they could cover it… Pretty hilarious, really.”
Agreeing to some extent, you remember about your plans the next day. “Shit, I’m seeing my friends for dinner tomorrow and I’ll be the millionth wheel there-” You hit your had on the marble counter, wanting to yell. Raising your head, you think it’s best to have another drink. “Hey Mingyu-”
“On it,” Mingyu picks up quickly, already at the other side to fix up a drink for you.
Somehow, that next drink triggered you to have another, then another, and another.
Drunk; you were drunk off your wits.
“Mingyu!” You shout although it almost turning midnight and there was no need to shout at someone right in front of you.
“Huh?”
“Can we fake date?”
“Fake date?”
“My fake date,” you hic, “for tomorrow.”
“We… Barely know each other’s birthdays.”
“Well my birthday is…” You tell him your birthday, poking a finger on the table and staring at him closely. “You look like you’re born on June 2nd.”
“I’m actually born in April, but, i’m not going to be your date,” Mingyu reasons, your pout growing when he rejects you.
“Be my fake date, Mingyu,” your eyes begin to water, high pitched whining as you almost fall off the stool trying to drink from the glass that Mingyu’s trying to get back.
“I told you, no.”
“……” You stay still, just looking at him. Mingyu begins to think you’re sleeping with your eyes open until you say with the quietest voice, “I want you as my fake date, please…”
“Why should we date?” Sighs Mingyu, wondering what he’s getting himself into.
“Because we’re attracted to each other!” You yell once more, all the energy back when you slump on the counter, pressing your cheek on the cold surface.
“I’m attracted to pie, but I do not feel the need to date pie.” Mingyu replies, his mind lingering on the food for no reason, shrugging.
His face turns into pure concern when you gasp for almost a minute, face about to turn blue.
“Hey, hey! You okay?” Mingyu tries to settle you down on your stool, you now sitting still and having a mini staring competition.
“That’s bullshit,” you spit, pure disappointment and disgust on your face, similar to one like a child, “now come kiss me!”
The bartender is about to argue again until he processes your words, not knowing what to do with what you just said. To make sure of things, he pulls on his shirt to check the skin near his collarbone, watching the words slowly fade and form into something else.
He looks back at you, worried when he lifts up your arm and pulls the sleeve up, watching the words he just said form into his name, but you were too drunk to even realise.
“Holy shit,” Mingyu mumbles, “we have to get you home.”
His shift was over hours ago, but here he was, calling a taxi and putting you in after what felt like hours of convincing and trying to find out your address, keeping you upright from avoiding to get your head hit by the window. Somehow, he almost cradles you by the fact that you’re leaning to him, giggling non-stop.
“Damn, you’re heavy…” He states when he carries you into your room, you winding down as you were tired from moving your limbs so much when going up the stairs.
When he sets you down, he thinks it’s best to leave you, but before he does you call him. “Ming-yoo,”
“Mingyu-”
“Ming-yoo,” you correct, missing the snicker from Mingyu, “you’ll… You’ll be my date, right?” You shyly ask.
All Mingyu does is grin in the dark, scared to touch your hair but he does anyway.
“Sure. Now rest, goodnight.”
“Goodnight…”
And Mingyu leaves your room, the light shrinking into darkness.
The next morning you wake with a raging pain your head; last night was the biggest blur but you don’t remember being tucked into bed. Maybe something happened, you think yet ignore the matter, glad that you were home and had a reasonable excuse to miss out the dinner with your friends and their soulmates.
Sitting up on the bed, you find a folded note on your bedside table, attracting your eyes. Reaching for the note, you open it to read the contents within.
XX-XXX-XXXX
drinks are great, but, i think i’d like to know you without them involved. be my date?
—your soulmate
Signed off with two tiny hearts, you rub your aching eyes and read the note to make sure it’s real, identifying the handwriting like the one on your tattoo—
Your tattoo.
Pulling up your sleeve, you see the new and changed tattoo running down the inside of where your elbow begins — the inked nam that confirms your missing half, your true love, your soulmate.
Kim Mingyu.

“If coconut oil is made out of coconuts and almond oil is made out of a variety of almonds, would that mean baby oil…”
Vernon stops bouncing his wall towards the wall — mainly because it hit him in the stomach as he had to process your question — staring at you with eyes widened, but mouth shaped as if he tasted an overly spoilt banana split.
But he burst into laugher, clutching his stomach and the ball in his hand so hard that he loses his balance. “Oh my god, why did you even think of that?”
“I dunno! My cousin told me that the police took babies who misbehaved to make baby oil when I was a kid, so that’s why I never wanted to make her mad because I was scared she’ll call the police and take me away — I didn’t want to be taken away, Vernon, I was five!”
Your best friend wipes the tears from his eyes, taking deep breaths to calm himself. He even pulled his beanie over his face because he’d start giggling if he looked at you. “That’s so dumb.”
“Whatever! At least your best friend is here and not being used as oil for babies right now.”
“Right, so,” clearing his throat, Vernon goes back to throwing his baseball to the wall and catching it, “it’s my cousin’s wedding next week-”
“The one who gave you their fish to look after and you accidentally let it down the drain or the one that you ate their weed brownie without knowing?”
“Not those two, god no, it’s the one you met at the mall with me, remember?”
“Oh the model?”
“Stop calling my cousin that, they’re engaged.”
“But it doesn’t take an idiot to admit that your cousin is a dreamboat — how in the hell are you related?” You click your fingers quickly. “Got it. Sorry to tell you Vernon, but you’re adopted— AH!”
You shriek at the ball flying your way, luckily catching it as Vernon only laughs, yourself feeling offended by the action and throw it back with anger.
“Creep.” Vernon mumbles, appalled. You stick your tongue out at him before he continues. “Okay, but, I was thinking you should come as my date.”
“Date?”
“C’mon, it’ll be fun!”
“Why should we date?”
“Uh…” Vernon pauses after an awful try to juggle his baseball with small rocks. “Because we’re attracted to each other?”
“I’m attracted to pie, but I do not feel the need to date pie.”
“Just be my date!” Your best friend shouts, arms waving like a child. “If I said my cousin wanted to meet you again, would come?”
“Oh really?! Dreamboat said that?!”
“No, but you’d still come if I said that?”
“You!” You choke, standing up within seconds to chase Vernon until you catch him, jumping on his back to mess up his hair under that eyesore yellow beanie of his.
Vernon protects his hair with his hands, grabbing your wrists with one hand as you wriggle, the other hand having trouble with carrying you. “Not the hair! Truce, truce! I’m sorry!”
Eventually you get down, panting as all your energy was used on trying to mess up Vernon’s hair.
“But seriously, half of my family wants you to come. They’ve been wondering when you’re coming back ever since my grandparents’ golden.”
“Ah, I’m just the people’s favourite,” Vernon nudges your arm as a reply, “huh, I do miss them too though. If you have something to offer in return, I’m all ears.”
He looks at you dead in the eye, totally given up at your behaviour. Giving in, he holds out his hand which you gladly take. “To the ice cream parlour we go…”
“And the arcade!”
“And the arcade,” Vernon begins to walk with you, swaying side to side, “wait, what’s happening over there?”
You move your head to see nothing mildly interesting going on behind you, and when you turn back, your vision goes black, fading into an eyesore yellow, followed by the crazy giggle of your best friend, his voice getting further away.
“You never said I had to pay! Last one there does, so better catch up loser!”

Seventeen Reaction: S/O Falling Asleep on Them
[gif credit] THIS IS THE CUTEST CONCEPT LIKE UWU
Seungcheol: his heart would melt. He wouldn’t be able to comprehend how cute you were all snuggled up next to him. Probably would try to sneak in a few pictures and use them as his wallpaper.
Jeonghan: He would probably smirk a little bit and sigh at how adorable you were. He’d brush the hair out of your face and give you the softest forehead kisses. Also be lowkey scared to move and wake you up.
Joshua: He’d be in awe and try his best not to disrupt you as he pulled the covers on top of you. He would probably lightly hum (sunday morning) to you and rest his head on top of yours.
Junhui: he wouldn’t know what to do. Internally, he’s screaming but he has to act cool and be quiet on the outside. He really missed you and he loved how you tried to wrap yourself around him

Seventeen Reaction: S/O Wanting to Adopt
Comments: to anyone who is an adoptee and/or a foster care person (sorry, idk what your term is), I wanted to tell you that you are so loved and wanted. Being an adoptee is a unique and confusing identity.
Seungcheol: He just wants you to be happy. Of course he wanted to pass along his genes, but his name still gets passed on. Cheollie was really excited to get the paperwork started! You wanted a girl, but he wanted a boy. Luckily, you got matched to twins- one boy and one girl!
Jeonghan: Honestly, he was a little disappointed since he thinks it’s not his child, but you reminded him that kids need homes. After talking about it, he was onboard. Since the two of your were very financially stable and well of, you decided to go into the foster care system. It broke your heart knowing that these kids did not have stable homes yet.
Jisoo: He was really excited to adopt since he really does not want to see you in pain to birth a child. You still had several years on your IUD and it really helps your skin so adoption was great. After talking to shua, you decided to adopt a little boy from korea. You felt fortunate that you were able to give your future child both American and Korean culture.
Junhui: You had fertility issues and both of your had breakdowns over it. The two of you really wanted to start a family, but not being able conceive a child. Your doctor suggested adoption. You never thought about it, but adopting a child from China was so exciting.
