What I want to do: tell people I’m asexual so it’s out of the way and they can stop assuming I’m allosexual

What I don’t want to do: give a 5 minute explanation of what asexuality is followed by a 10 minute debate on whether or not it’s actually a real thing followed by yet another another 10 minutes of uncomfortable questions as they continue to try and disprove my sexuality to me

So this post has been going around for years and has recently picked up again with probably 100+ replies of “why do you tell strangers about your sex life, only really close friends or your partner would need to know those things” so here’s a glimpse of some scenarios I’ve personally lived (many just happened recently, many at work)

“hey dude check out that chick over there”

“damn look at the body on her man what do you think?”

“Do you have a girlfriend?”

*pulls up two photos* “so if you had to pick one who would rather fuck?”

“want to go to the club? Pick up some chicks, maybe get lucky?”

“Yo we should totally get you to a strip club man that would be awesome!”

“ever done (insert random sexual act)?”

“are you gay?”

“do you have a boyfriend?”

“you know it’s ok if you’re gay you can tell us anything”

*tells me about their own sex lives, expecting me to respond back somehow*

“don’t worry the right person will come along for you”

“oh you say that now but one day you’ll be married with kids! hahahahahahaha”

“well you’re a bit of a late bloomer anyway huh”

*gets hit on at the club*

*gets hit on on Instagram*

*gets hit on on Facebook, tumblr, etc*

The worst is that kind of quote keep adding, look OP post is still on day because mentality in for this had never changed

Even inside people that tell themselves LGBTfriendly or identify in the LGBT community you could be anything other than on the acespectrum it would be better.

Literally the number of people that better assume that I’m bi or lesbian, even after telling them I’m not, I literally got the ace flag on me with on pins or on pieces of clothing. It’s astonishing !

Those that talk about sex in front of you “sorry I know it makes you uncomfortable.” No kidding! It’s more of the non-respect of boundary that makes me on edge.
