Back in my Hunter x Hunter thoughts and I find it wild how Togashi connected Gon’s hatsu to the conflict with Pitou.

Basically in the Chimera Ant Arc Gon = rock, Pitou = scissors, and Kite = paper. So following the rules of rock-paper-scissors we have:

Paper covers rock = Kite protects Gon

Scissors cuts paper = Pitou literally slicing Kite into ribbons

Rock smashes scissors = Gon smashing Pitou’s head into a pulp

Being Killua is hilarious though:

1. Hate your family (excerpt one) so much you decided to stab your incel brother in his side and your mother in her face. Decide to try out the hunters exam for shits and giggles really.

2. Find a boy that’s the same age of you. Decide to stick around because even then at your core you are lonely. Immediately click. But also casually kill and threaten numerous people during the exam at the same time.

3. Immediately ride or die that you were willing to Kill Tonpa and Leorio possibly in Trick Tower. Oh your old brother comes knocking and you remember you have trauma.

4. Willingly decide to get tortured only to break said chains once your incel brother commented he would harm Gon. Already losing the I don’t give a fuck war.

5. Literally is saved by Gon like a damsel in distress and immediately lowkey have feelings. Decide your life mission is to help Gon.

6. Numerous times the only one that nags and babies Gon for being a fucking dumbass. Will and will again threaten to kill the disabled for your crush. Gon and him have a full confession esque on Whale Island.

7. Follow him into Greed Island where you are just a baby homosexual and your grandma of a teacher immediately notice and think the two of you are cute for it.

8. Have numerous gay tantrums because of shitty self esteem once he and Gon get thrown into War fighting Nen Steroid Ants. With a canon love story mirroring him and Gon.

9. He is like 13 and already wanting to do lovers suicide with your crush. You are pining so hard you use the eldritch sister of yours to bring your crush back. And yet, he still acts tsundere like someone isn’t spoiled by him. This is Killua

All the people who criticize Gon for being a hypocrite, for being selfish, for being a supposed psychopath—all those people make me ROLL my eyes in utter annoyance.

They want to demonize Gon when, in reality, all those aspects are what give his character depth and make him stand out compared to other shonen protagonists who are just good (and a little dumb) and that’s it. Also, do they forget the fact that Gon is literally twelve or thirteen years old????? He’s a kid. Obviously he’s not going to know how to communicate healthily with his bestie or how to cope with grief without getting lost in his desire for revenge in the process.

I honestly believe that Gon just needs to grow up and mature to improve those aspects of himself. And no, I don’t think he’d ever hurt Killua like that again.

If you ask me, Gon needs some time for introspection to realize the depth of his feelings for Killua. Gon adores Killua just as much as Killua adores him. I assure you that once Gon comes to that realization, he’ll be a total YEARNER for Killua (in the same way that Killua is a total yearner for him)

He’ll be the most loving, attentive, and caring best friend/boyfriend/husband/whatever in the world. And no one’s going to get me off this ship. I know it. Togashi told me so. I’m not falling for that awful propaganda that 'Gon doesn’t deserve Killua' 'Killua deserves better.' I can’t imagine either of them being with other people, or even becoming best friends with anyone else—whether platonically or romantically, it doesn’t matter 🙄🙄 They are made for each other…

God, I remember why I faded out of the fandom for a bit and it’s because it really seems a vast majority of “fans” hate Gon.

I think we need to fully use the fact that Killua and Gon are weird kids to our advantage. I’m talking Gon openly sniffing the other three when he says hi. And being way too open about what they smell like to him. And generally being cute in how he interacts with his superhuman senses. Like the only reason he isn’t licking random people is because Mito raised him right.

Killua purposely and accidentally giving like Leorio and Kurapika panic attacks because he’s so quiet. Gon will become moody if Leorio doesn’t say they won’t be friends even if he was like a cicada. Generally Killua and Gon being devil children and climbing all over the kitchen counters sometimes.

Gon just say randomly puff out his cheeks and just bluntly say why are you sad to Leorio because he smelled it on him. Gon literally seeing Killua with his claw and only thing he thinks is Oh! He’s like a foxbear! Or think he’s like a cat!

Gon randomly giving his friends random shells, rocks, and leaves he found. Gon accidentally traumatizing the older two by babbling about his hyperfixation on nature, primarily the horrors that are common in like insect mating (talking the wasp that stabs to mate or the numerous bugs that do mating cannibalism).

The way they did the natural out of pocket words commonly said by children or even worse. Leorio definitely had a panic attack and couldn’t sleep because Gon was creepily innocently said “If you die, I will bury you at sea! So you can reincarnate as a fish so we can be friends again!”

Killua getting mad on Gon behalf if whoever Gonn gifted shells/leaves/rocks/sometimes exoskeletons of a beetle don’t immediately get excited and thank him. (Killua has a full area in his backpack that has all the weird shit Gon gave him and is sorta like a possesive dragon protecting his hoard and will snap if someone tries to take it away from him)

Killua actually not having the worst potty mouth out of the two boys, he just a rude brat to adults. Gon knows curse words in numerous languages because Whale Island is pretty much a port town with sailors coming every season. Gon just doesn’t curse that much because he was told to be polite but he sometimes give Leorio stress by randomly calling someone a Bitch at age 12.

You understand what I mean? Let the boys be weird kids. That give the older two stress. Like give Bisky her Grandmother of the Year award for knowing how to handle her baby gay grandsons.

one detail that really stood out to me pre-ravensong was joe saying that for as long as he’s known mark, he’s always been blue. like for most of joe’s life, all he’s known is that his uncle is deeply sad and heartbroken, and no one’s ever told him why. thinking about mark spending that long broken inside just does something to me idk. i know he gets a happy ending eventually, but mark is probably the most tragic character in the book to me just for how much time he was forced to spend alone in his grief

Growing up is realizing that the reason Gon is so hated is because people hate imperfect victims. A actual child can’t react like a child. He must be completely able to handle all the ptsd and trauma maturely. If not he’s the worst person ever /sarcasm

It’s also why I’m personally annoyed at the take that was prevalent a couple years ago that Gon is the one that needs to beg and suffer for forgiveness from Killua. Not only that’s not in character for Killua but also this sorta gives me the vibes that people can’t make mistakes. If they do they are evil and need to show some sort of penance.

I do want their relationship to be subtlety different but in the way both realize they are children and can equally depend on each other. They do need to talk about what happened. Primarily because Gon was literally about to kill himself at age 12 and generally they need to communicate.

Hunter x Hunter is a world that victimizes children. Chrollo is literally an adult that was victimized so much he decided to become a monster. Hell! We all know the fucking horrible shot the Kakin Empire is doing! Or literally how the Zoldycks have inherited abuse to become strong. Or generally the whole concept of Meteor City with people abandoning babies there.
