Talking to those who understand you is valuable; perhaps that's why I've spent half my life talking to myself.
A portion of the poem ‘Wild Geese,’ written and performed by Mary Oliver
This poem has meant the world to me since I was very young. it’s filled my heart to see it trending on tiktok & so many people experiencing it for the first time. I have lived so many lives, and I have often been lonely and felt outside of the world. These words have brought me more comfort in all the stages of my life than I can ever really express. I owe Mary Oliver so much for putting them into the world.

Is the monk required to take his clothes off before arresting someone or is that just what he’s like as a person?
Let's just say he was exiled for a reason.

after the whole "how are palestinians using the internet" im quite convinced that a lot of you think people in africa live in huts in the wild savanna with no electricity and that people in the middle east live in the desert with camels and no technology. bronze age style
in high school maybe 11th grade i had a colleague ask me. "iran? arent they poor just living with camels and in the desert?" i legit think its what yall believe
It's the American educational system and film propaganda.
I legit didn't know Mexico had metropolitan cities until I was 21. US curriculums simply don't talk about other countries outside of their relationships to the US. In movies you only see them represented as desert wastelands or broken down dystopian towns with orange filters on top.
(it's also a way to paint immigrants like uneducated savages)
The American Education System spends its history classes telling children about the Revolutionary War 20 times over for 8 years and WW2 for one year, I remember barley even getting to learn about other country’s history until I went to community college (aka continued education not everyone will experience).
The United States likes remembering the one time we kicked ass like 250 years ago and repeating that in classes over and over while glazing over everything else.
Do y'all think everyone outside the USA gets taught a comprehensive curriculum about the history and culture of every country in the world or something?
I'm sure the american education system is pretty terrible (like it is in most places in the world), but if someone manages to get to the age of 21 without knowing there are cities in Mexico I think that's on them. I think don't think one should need to be explicitly taught "oh btw cities exist in X country" by their school curriculum to come to the realization that large-scale urban centers exist outside of the first world.
ngl i wpuld be a lot nicer to libs if they didn't treat supporting a genocide like a minor character flaw
"no politician is perfect" and "why are you so obsessed with purity politics" are what you say when someone brings up, idk, a politician saying a homophobic slur 30 years ago or something, not when the politician you're endorsing is actively helping the israeli state genocide palestinians with absolutely zero plans to stop
Maybe some people are saying that, I don't know. What I see way more people saying is: we have a two party system. Either Trump or Harris is going to win. Trump will be far worse for Palestine. And trans people. And the poor. Abortion access will get worse. He'll probably get more lifetime Supreme Court appointments. And I just writhe around on the fucking floor, trying to understand how people don't get this simple fucking thing. You have to vote for the one that's better even if they still suck, because the alternatives get more people killed. And yes, I think that makes you complicit in their deaths. I don't give a fuck about how you voting for the lesser of two evils makes you feel. Don't get vulnerable people killed because you fell asleep in fucking civics, you selfish assholes.
^ about the kind of response I'd expect from someone who gives money to this fucking website
if some random communist on tumblr dot com is complicit in whoever trump kills because they criticized biden once, doesn't that make you complicit in all of the civillian massacres biden and harris have gleefully taken part in?
I really love that libs very clearly think the things Trump does/would do aren't bad because they're inherently bad things, but because TRUMP is/would be the one doing them.
"Trump will be far worse for Palestine" How? Explain your reasoning. In what way would Trump be worse? Israel is using American guns, missiles, bombs, bullets, vehicles and foreign aid money to fund its atrocities. The Israeli government is being advised by US diplomats, supported in international relations by US delegates, being advised militarily by US military command. American soldiers are on the ground actively participating. The president expresses constant, unequivocal support for Israel and its right to carry out these operations. So what exactly is Trump going to do that's worse? Is he going to personally write mean things on the bombs to demoralize the Palestinians, moments before they're obliterated? That's about the only thing Biden HASN'T done.
Gleefully voting for 99.999999999...% Hitler because 100% Hitler is, like, totally just like Hitler, guys!
