You might not be the perfect show but the final season (even just the final episode) is a perfect example of how much a finale/ good closure can impact the rest of the show entirely
the conversation dina and ellie had was so cute and flirty but they turned it into dina being like “omgggg im straight i swearrrr i just think kissing girls when i’m drunk is fun 🤪🤪🤭🤭😛” kill me
i knew they were gonna do dina dirty once i saw leaked photos of her with fresh blowouts despite being in an apocalypse
(i may just be nit picking but) i don’t love how much they’re shoving joel and ellie’s father/daughter relationship in our face.. it feels fan service-y and inauthentic
in the game its very clear that their relationship is paternal but there definitely is some pushback on both sides, not that they refuse to see the other as a father/daughter figure, it’s just something unspoken between them and they’re okay with it. it makes their relationship so much more complex and interesting ((and im fully aware that it’s an adaptation and won’t/ shouldn’t be a 1-1 replica but)) i feel like it’s kind of watered down
this episode solidified the orpheus and eurydice parallels to me and i love it and im SCARED
hc that mabel introduced dipper to stardew valley and he romances haley bc she reminds him of a certain someone but would never admit it
season 3 felt unfinished but i think it was for a reason
something about s3 felt so,, incomplete? like this season didn’t feel as tight as the others, there weren’t any character arcs really and i’m definitely not the only one who feels that way. but i feel like the lack of a conclusion is permissible for this season bc i feel like s3 and s4 are supposed to be like part one and two, because what i think they’re trying to do will take a lot longer than 10 episodes to fully flesh out, and because this is the only season that’s ended with a “to be continued” (or maybe i just have too much faith in the writers, who knows lol)
don’t get me wrong i’m also super bummed about the lack of scenes between sydney and carmy (not even just in a romantic way), they’ve definitely had many issues each season but s3 in particular lacked so much warmth between them, but it was very necessary.
carmy is beginning to turn into his mentors in the worst way possible. he wants to get sydney her star, and he’s doing so the only way he’s ever learned how- from those who taught him. and those who taught him, for the most part, treated him like absolute shit. he’s becoming who he hates and turning sydney into himself and he doesn’t even realize it. s2 was all about working together as partners + communication, and s3 is all about carmy regressing into old habits (which makes so much sense since this is the first time he’s been back working in fine dining in a year, compared to the beef in s1 and the “building stage” of s2) . we see it so clearly with the use of the “im sorry” in sign in s2, and the lack of it in s3. their relationship is always one step forward and two steps back, and s3 is the “two steps back” phase necessary to take a step forward, which i’m hoping will be s4.
listen, LISTEN- i will forever be a sydcarmy truther, sydcarmy endgame is my main priority BUT.. sydluca do have me clutching my pearls a little i’m not gonna lie, im kind of all for it 😭😭
not ONE person this entire season did the “im sorry” thing in sign and that was weirdly really disappointing to me?? like it was a huge part of s2 especially with syd and carmys relationship and learning to communicate better, and the fact that it wasn’t used at all messes with the continuity and makes it feel like a plotpoint used in s2 that they just completely forgot about/ threw away
(i really hope that choice was intentional and they bring it back during an important scene between syd and carmy in s4, if not, incredibly disappointing)
“she’s peace” mf you had an entire panic attack about her last season what do you MEANNN
“michael was the best love interest >:(“ “what about francesca’s struggle with fetility >>:(“ michael and michaela are the same character and francesca can still struggle with fertility with john now what
eloise was honestly a rlly shitty friend to cressida, especially at the end 😭
like i get that cressida was a shitty person but she was genuinely growing and starting to change but as soon as eloise began to mend her friendship with pen she treated cressida like DUST and had the audacity to be shocked and hurt when cressida did what she felt necessary to protect herself?? like cressida was literally begging for eloise to care about the fact that she’s about to be married off to someone thrice her age (literally asking her to just listen to her plan) but she was too busy being nosy with penelope, and when cressida decided to give up on being good bc she realized she’s alone in this world and no one else will have her back except for herself, eloise got mad at her?? cressida cowper they could never make me hate you.
homophobes are mad at michael being michaela, and biophobes are claiming that francesca and johns relationship is purely platonic SOMEBODY SAVE ME
they wasted so much of cressida’s character like come ON
i’m kind of disappointed with lis4 and i’m (shockingly) not really looking forward to it??
up until today i had no idea that the new game was gonna follow max and as much as i adore her and want more content with that character (obviously) i’m kind of disappointed and wish that they didn’t try to bring her back.
something i love about life is strange is that every game has new characters and new powers, and that their stories begin and end within their games. despite loving the characters and wanting more, i’m content with not having more sequels to their stories bc their stories are over. those chapters are closed. it’s finished.
little things that connect each game (like the max/chloe easter egg, the david and captain spirit cameo in lis2) is wonderful. but now they’re opening it all up with max’s new game and it feels like such a cash grab?
especially because of the lack of enthusiasm/negative reviews with true colours; instead of coming up with fresh new characters and a new power they’re bringing back a beloved character bc they know it’ll sell and they’re scared they’ll have another flop (IM SORRY TC NO HATE, U JUST DIDNT DO AS WELL) ((they’re scared of having a true colours 2.0 which is so ironic considering the new game is an exact copy))
i think the main characters could definitely come back- again, with little cameos in future games- or at the end as a way to tie the series together once it’s over. but this new game just feels like a huge cash grab
i didn’t think there was gonna be any romance in fallout but i’m pleasantly surprised with lucy and maximus, i love those weirdos
