Lemme go further into detail and lean a bit into Jace Slander (tm), but I mean well just listen:

It's clear that they're gonna go for a The War is SO BAD It's Breaking The Sanity of Everyone. This is already clear with Nyra and how all she's doing is cry, forever in hysterics, something entirely different than last season where she was far more decisive. But just because that is their intent it doesn't mean it's working as intended or helping their characters.

Jace VERY CLEARLY lost it, I have not read the books so I don't even know if his decisions were accurate, but what it looked like to me instead of the heir to the Iron Throne being decisive and level headed is him trying to prove himself by betraying his mother and dying because of it. I saw Jace Targaryen, the ever intelligent, ever dutiful and loyal prince of the realm order one of his mother's Queensguard to commit treason and hold her against her will, smile almost maniacally to his fiancee when confronted about it as he's arguing that this is their chance to prove themselves, before storming out of the castle and striding foward to a death by a thousand arrows all because his mother was taking initiative AS THE QUEEN and clearly seeking to protect him AS HER NAMED HEIR.

Sure, Jace has always been bothered by legitimacy, but ffs you literally had him break so hard it almost looks like he committed suicide by arrow to spite Rhaenyra! and after his brother's death that's NOT WHAT JACE WOULD DO!

They're having the effect that the war is having override them as characters! there surely was a smarter way to have Jace die than have the last thing Rhaenyra remembers be an argument with him followed by the news that he ordered for her to be locked away and then after everything is over RHAENYRA IS ONLY MET WITH HIS LIFELESS CORPSE.

I fucking can't with this show. Like do they not understand that their attempts to strip Alicent of any agency and responsibility just makes her look like an absolute negative IQ idiot? How did she not understand that Rhaenyra wouldn't spare Otto, the literal architect of the usurpation?

My biggest problem with hotd is how much agency they strip from Rhaenyra. It's a humiliation ritual at this point. Her taking back kings landing and reclaiming her throne is supposed to be such a strong and pivotal moment for her. Jaces death hardens her. Instead, Alicent has handed kings landing over on a silver platter. She needs her man to tell her to kill Otto because god forbid she be violent of her own agency. Then she sits on the throne weak and sniveling.

You can argue this is all because shes so traumatized, Jaces death is fresh. And i've long given up on this show being book accurate, but they would never have a man claim his throne sniveling like a kicked kitten I promise you that. They'd never change a man's character to start sobbing as hes told to execute the one whose plotted against him all his life, who led to his kids death and has aimed to kill him and all his family. They wouldn't even have to tell a male character to execute Otto like Daemon did. Ryan and Saras writing tries so hard to be feminist it goes back around to being more misogynistic.

I wouldn't even mind if she sits on her theone with a few tears slipping out. Thats makes sense because all of this IS emotional for her. But making her so fragile, like shes questioning her own claim, or like shes not fit to be there, goes against everything.

Alicents character is confusing too. Its like all of her abusive actions towards Rhaenyra in season 1 are either forgotten or forgiven because shes sorry for it now. If they aren't showing Alicent being sexually assualted, then they have her looking like an idiot who couldn't possibly predict what her actions would lead to. She practically sent her sons away to be killed and is fine with Rhaenyra and Daemon mowing them down, but shes gagged that when she gives the kingdom back to Rhaenyra, the first thing Rhaenyra does is kill her #1 conspirer??? Just because it happens to be her dad. The nerve of Alicent to even looked betrayed by that, and Olivia Cooke confirming that is fucking ridiculous. For Rhaenyra to look momentarily shamed, and knowing shes going to be shamed for this is ridiculous. For all the pain, abuse, and loss Otto and Alicent have caused Rhaenyra, you can't possibly make me feel Rhaenyra is betraying Alicent by killing Otto.

I don't even care what changes they make to these characters stories at this point, but their behaviors just dont make sense for the story they've come up with.

If I see one more person do this I’m actually gonna tweak out. That cis guy character can be a trans man. That cis woman character can be a trans man. Headcannoning a cis character as trans is not killing anyone’s representation and that is pretty obvious.

If everyone who sees this post call them just once it would remind them that their job is for the people not their own interests. Remind them that there are people that they work with who are more of a danger to children than the internet is. Remind them why they want to push this bill; remind them why they want to silence us. And most importantly, remind them why it’ll never work.

Stay strong and don’t back down. And even if you don’t have the will to call, you can still vocal your frustrations on social media. Talk about, have your favorite creators talk about it. Hell, go to our House members dems. Just make your voice heard. Make them know we’re more than numbers, more than data, more than our wallets. We have free will, it’s time we use it to its full potential.
