you weren't meant to be human by andrew joseph white is a wild ass ride. my main criticism is that crane never fully explores or explains the worm cult. we don't get much info because of that. the main theme here is 'power of choice' and also being a little freak. i was not totally expecting that last ending, and i personally thought it was a good narrative end, so i am giving it 4 stars total. but i understand why some think it's more of 'shock horror' book. there were a lot of times i was left grossed all the way out. lmao
ajw is a really excellent character-writer. his characters are complex and interesting and i always want to know what wild ride they're about to go on! i do think his world-building chops need honing. i hope that is something he develops as he continues to publish books <3
