DEATH BY AI (EAPS AU) Reference sheets
This AU is based on the short series of episodes EAPS uploaded which featured Eclipse, Puppet, Moon, Ballora, and Jack. I was inspired by the "Villain's Play" au made by Kouwelm on Youtube.
Preparing for art fight, conceptualizing and drawing these fools is what I did in my absence from my socials.
This isn't the final name, but if you have ideas.. you can comment them.. please........
List of characters in the MAIN CAST (not ranked whatsoever)
Character 1: Annular Solar Eclipse Penumbra V4
"We know you can't think much, Doyenne" - quote taken from the episode (but modified the name)
He goes by Annular and only allows specific people to call him by his actual name, Eclipse. I wrote it this way just so that I can differentiate the canon and the AU. I make similar name changes to the other characters.
V4 in his name is supposed to reference the fact that Eclipse has 4 versions, but he isn't version 5 because that is the version of Eclipse that follows the canon. Plus, in the time of the episodes' release, he was still version 4.
The reason why he is called Annular is because his design is supposed to be based on an annular solar eclipse, hence why his rays are significantly brighter than his face.
His jetpack is a reference to his answers to the AI's prompt of surviving against an avalanche and suddenly not being able to stop running. In both responses, he died XD. But he used a jetpack in an attempt to escape the avalanche, while he attempted to run into a pile of pillows to cushion his stop (pillows are mentioned to have feathers in them). The jetpack apparently didn't have any fuel, and the pillows actually had a deep pit under it so he plummetted to his death in both responses...
The wing patterns and bird patch on his uniform are supposed to represent a phoenix. The reason as to why will be explained in a different character's part.
His rays, eyes, and jetpack wings are supposed to glow, but I forgot to note it in the actual reference sheet
The cloth tails behind him are supposed to be a group indicator-symbolism thing- idk what to call it- but its supposed to connect him to another character because of them coming from the same dimension in lore.
He is often represented by colors of red and orange, but mostly red.
Character 2: Crescent Moon Celestial V2 (and Sol G2 Sun Celestial)
"I am God and I fear no death for like a Phoenix I will rise from the ashes." - quote taken from the episode.
Just like Annular, Moon also goes through a name change, being called Crescent instead.
Sol's full name is based on the specific kind of star our real life sun is, which is a Spectral Type (G2V) or a G-type main-sequence star.
This is not based on the EAPS Moon, and is instead based on SAMS Moon, simply because in the episode he was featured in, he had SAMS Moon's VA, EC_Universal.
V2 in his name, once again, is supposed to be a reference to the fact that this is the Old Moon brought back after New Moon became Nexus in canon
He is the reason why everyone in the cast has a phoenix symbol somewhere on their design. This is because the AI kept describing everyone surviving from a burning building as "phoenixes who rise from the ashes", so he used that idea to survive the avalanche prompt. (He did survive by the way).
He's supposed to be a healer in the group, this is based on his response of performing a medical procedure on himself to survive the prompt of forgetting how to breathe. (He still died, by the way).
The O2 tank he has on his back and connected to his neck is also a reference to that medical procedure.
The hearts on his design is in connected to another character's design, which will be explained in their part of the post.
Because it is only Moon featured in the episodes, he is the one present most of the time, think of it as Sun and Moon swapping places.
He is often represented by shades of blue, and occasionally yellows when Sol (the name of Sun) takes over.
Character 3: Lady Doyenne Ballora
"I couldn't think much of an answer-" - quote taken from the episode.
Ballora is named Doyenne instead, which means "the most respected, experienced, or senior woman in a particular field, profession, or group."
She is supposed to give off royalty, because of her response to the prompt of entertaining a goblin king, where she confidently claims to be his queen. (She survived, by the way.)
The goblin "king" in this case would be Monty, because of their canonical crush (and I think also relationship) on each other.
She has a lot of hearts in her design to reference the fact that she's the one who keeps surviving the most in every round. In lore, the hearts are symbols of her kingdom, worn by those who originate from it (hence why Crescent has it too).
She has a magical staff because she also doubles as a shield support for the team, which is connected to the reasoning in the previous note.
She can only either have 1 eye open, or none at all, as a reference to her VR model, which mostly keeps its eyes closed, but has rare moments in episodes to have them open (but she closes them once its pointed out so...)
FUN FACT, her design is the one of the ones I struggled with the most, simply because the responses she had in the episode were a little hard to work with in a design aspect.
She is often represented by purples and pinks, more specifically, the darker hues of blueish-purple, and reddish pinks.
Character 4: Mach Jack O'Moon Penumbra V1
"I stab at the bomb before running away at Mach 1." - quote taken from the episode.
Jack is called Mach or Mach 1 because of his priority on speed and agility (which is seen in almost all his responses to the AI in the episode).
Jack from SAMS is featured in the episode, which is why he's in this AU. But in this AU, Annular is the one who made him instead of Solar. Technically still the same since they're both eclipses but the difference in creators shape how they behave.
Just like Jack in SAMS, Mach functions as security for the cast, with a fighting style that can be described as a "rushdown" or a "hit and run".
Mach in this AU behaves similarly to Jack from TSAMS, only difference is that he's far more brutal with his attacks, and he doesn't feel guilty about attacking, since he is able to accept that he was made and coded to do this as his primary function.
His outfit is based on racer outfits, because of the association of speed with racers... duh...
Because he was made by Annular, Mach and Annular share the same golden triangles under the eyes.
He's best represented by reds and oranges, but preferably oranges.
Character 5: Charlotte Puppet Marionette Emily
"Simply just, come back. They always come back. Haha." - quote taken from the episode.
I wrote in my notes that the reason why she changed her name is because She wants to let go of the bad things she's done to her universe, a part of it is letting go of her old name "Puppet". So she's called Marrion now
Her reasonings for moving dimensions stay the same as the canon, except Foxy and FC aren't around.
her design has bones because of the prompt where she had to survive against an elderly neighbor hellbent on killing her. She attempts to survive by blocking off her entire home, but she ends up dying of starvation, hence the bones. (But I can see why she looks like 1x1x1x1... he was my reference so...)
Her weapon is a gun because of her response of pulling out an elephant gun in response to a prompt of having a rhino suddenly charging at her.
FUN FACT, Marrion's design is also one I struggled with the most, same reason as Doyenne. (it's also why the notes are so short too)
She also has the cloth tail things that Annular does, but its smaller. This is to show that they both came from the same dimension.
Her tear marks are also triangle shaped to connect her with Annular, because of his association with triangle markings.
Her hair is also black because in this AU, she doesn't use her magic, and the laser gun works because,, is a futuristic weapon made by Annular idk anymore.
Character 6: Echo Vincit Mori
" 'Your fate has been sealed'. Okay. 'Good luck!' Oh... WHAT-" - quote taken from a game session with friends when we played Death by AI.
Mori is the ONLY character who's original in this. I'd normally feel guilty about this but I've seen prominent figures in the fandoms inserting their OCs into their AUs so I'm free.
She is based off of Wither Shards and the Wither Storm.. supposedly. I find it annoying that wither shards and its effects aren't explored, at least to my knowledge. I've only seen these things mentioned a handful of times throughout the entire series, which bums me because of their potential. It's why she's purple.
I can't really go deep into most of her design features since it would give away her lore and I want to separate the lore text from design notes for now.
Her hair structure is supposed to vaguely resemble the tentacles of a wither storm. And its vague on purpose, for lore reasons.
In the team, she functions as a debuffer, weakening enemies for her fellow teammates to make the fight easier.
To connect her with the main cast, i sprinkled pinks and reds and golds in her design, just to make her feel less out of place
she wears an eyepatch over her right eye. Actually she hides a lot of her wither features because of lore reasons.
Under her shirt is supposed to be a wither shard on her chest, with purple cracks covering her torso, but I forgot to draw a version of her reference sheet to show this.
FUN FACT, I also struggled so much with Mori's design. Mainly because she's an original character based on a concept that's not well documented by the wiki. Closest I got to getting info about the wither shards are from the wiki about Negative Star Power.
She is best represented by purples, specifically purples that lean closer to pink than blue.
