Do you have tips for drawing? Especially with the head and body..? I think I'm hitting some sort of a block or rut and I'm getting frustrated with what I'm doing 💔

When it comes to it, I tend to use shapes as a main silhouette for my drawings! Like a messy circle for the head, a flat square to show the face, and then I move onto the jaw and everything else. The best thing to do when drawing is having a reference, especially for certain poses and/or bodies; because, remember, having a reference isnt cheating, its merely a helpful guide :D!
I will also note how my artstyle is a mix of several other artists's artstyles that I mixed and created to be my own lol (Im not owning their artstyle! Merely taking inspo on how they draw certain stuff and trying it out). Like how, when I lock in, you can see how the MHA artstyle inspired how I draw fingers, and how recently my noses have taken inspo from the TRESE artstyle.
(I posted a few tutorials on how I draw a few times: overall, tears, and head. Theyre a little outdated with my artstyle, but I still use the same method! I just find the shapes method easiee)
I dont usually yap about ocs but I have been DYING to yap about this one I made based off TSAMS.
This is Astrid!! She is a tsams oc I made maybe 7 months ago. She's basically the Newton Star if it became physical being. She was sentient since the beginning of her creation, and fun fact, every time the star was used to make or change things, it would cause her pain. The pain ranged from high to low depending on how big the change or creation was.
'I have no mouth and I must scream' was basically her during that.
That's what the cracks on her face represent. She has more cracks on her body but she usually has it covered.
The colors in her hair represent each person that had their hands on the star. Orange = Eclipse , green = Monty ( I think he had it for a bit? ) , blue = Moon.
Not sure if Sun had the star too so if he did let me know🙏

I cant, like, just doodle them (as I was supposed to for this comic) because of their color pallette. I feel obligated to color them fully for no reason because, yes, my merbabies I will color you all fully <3
" Not really. Their special days are explained in this moment! The Flowerfish's is when he mastered echolocation 4 years ago ( :D ) !!
The thing is, these 'special days' are extremely, well, special. Many mers are hesitant to pick a special day outside of their birth day in fear that things will go wrong (ex. one will choose their special day as the day they found their significant other, only for that significant other to die ((mers mate for life!))... pretty dark example tbh...) as, once you pick a special day, you cant change it.
Still, mers like Sun do choose special days that arent their birth day, waiting for the perfect day to arrive. However, a mer that dies without a special day is said to 'have never found perfection'——but thats not the accurate translation as proff found out! The closest translation of their saying is more like this: 'A mer who has never found their special day at their death did not find the meaning of true happiness or simply disregarded it when they were still alive, missing every opportunity as if it were danger.'
Some mers like Eclipse arent aware special days even exist, or those that do simpely dont find it necessary. "

Thats the... usual... um, aspect, maybe?.. of it... like, the 'plan', as you say.
And... yeah, (Moon and Eclipse) try to show me some stuff or animals from the depths... but they mostly, like... just tell me——d-describe, more so since some stuff cant be brought up here. I didnt know there were a lot of... shipwrecks, was it?.. there."
waitwaitwait, i saw a flower grow on that one ask when Sun was leaning on the grass at night, and in the morning a flower is there, does Sun have magic tears?? Or was he hugging the flower?
" Neither of those, actually! Its to contradict the Flowerfish's words that his tears don't bring any beauty——when they do. They watered the flowers that refused to grow on those lands; they made the once thin trees and fruitless bushes grow.
The people who pass that forest or venture in it are amazed at how much more beautiful it is compared to the others... Now that I say this, maybe Sun does have magical tears (not literally) lmao. "

Eclipse: "I dont eat a lot. Ive only been eating a 'lot' because some of you keep giving us food, but I truly dont eat much. Its... been like this for long enough that I cant recall if I do it on purpose or if my kin were like this as well. And as for how much I eat... I dont quite know; I try to eat at least two colossal squids and a whale weekly, but I honestly tend to forget... but that was before; now my runts remind me.
And, yes, I have slept a little less because of them as well, but Im still asleep most of the time——until they wake me, that is, usually to eat as mentioned. I dont mind being woken up by them, hence why I tend to sleep where Moon can reach me."
Sun: "I-I'd love to, but with... everything... thats been——that has——t-thats happening... I cant really. But, even if... these stuff werent happening, I still wouldn't even if I wanted. Im no, like... 'great parent'——I've already accepted that. Im... I am not parent material... nor a good role model in the slightest."
Moon: "No and no. Im..." (Pause) "Im not... Im not..." (Inhale, sharp exhale)
(" The next words were sent in a hurry, so translation may be off. ")
"Im not good at those stuff, okay? Im not a good parent or role model and I wont ever be, no matter if I tried. Not with my status, not with everything thats came and went and is coming. Theres just no time for stuff like that. Theres no time to even think about it."
Can Sun's rays-like thingy pluck off like flower petals? Will it bleed, or just came right off?
I'm very interested in Moon's lil light thingy on the back of his head, reminded me of an angler fish! I also wonder if he eat anything else other than sharks? Maybe turtles or smth?
If Eclipse is big, wouldn't his presence be seen by humans rather quickly? Also have Sun and Moon ever been in the depths of the ocean with him? Can they even breathe with the pressure down theree??

" Judging by the condition of Flowerfishes that were caught by poachers, yes——if you have a knife. Their rays are part of their skin, so to 'pluck it off' like a flower petal isnt entirely possible unless you have a sharp object to tear it off with.
The rays are known for its softness and less known for its sensitivity. This leads many, especially rowdy children, to tug on the rays which causes the Flowerfish distress and, at times, kill whoever had done that due to the immense pain they feel. This is why every Flowerfish, river or coral, are very careful not to get their rays in the way of danger, letting every other part be hurt but their precious rays as those hurt the most.
This specific Bluenight doesnt exactly limit himself in what he eats, being more impulsive to try out different food such as mushrooms or smaller marine life. Its what happens when your clan beats you to your food source now that youre exiled, leaving you unable to hunt the usual; (Moon) is smaller than the other Bluenights.
As for the light thing, its purpose is not entirely known, but scientists have concluded it might be used in a similar way to an angler fish. I, on the other hand, believe its to locate each other/fellow Bluenight, but since (Moon) isnt around his kind anymore, he doesnt let it glow as often.
Although the Taiten is quite a large creature, its worth noting their ability to hide which is what makes them great hunters. They can forcibly stop their own blood flow, the very thing that causes their yellow glow, in order to hide from anyone; some like Eclipse can even change their orange skin to match with their lower half, sorta like an octopus. Its also worth noting that they live far down in the ocean where they spend most of their lives in, so its no wonder humans (aside from sailors who believe in them and fishermen who heard tales) dont know about them.
Since (Eclipse) is 'frequently' seen rising from the water, it is worth mentioning he only does that when hes far from shore; on occasions he does rise near the shore, he only does so when the area is devoid of humans. Hence why we document everything in the far, uninhabited beach of [REDACTED].
And, no, neither the Flowerfish or the Bluenight go in the depths with him as they cant breath once theyre deeper than their bodies can handle.
(Moon) can only go so far in the Abyss Zone (where ((Eclipse)) resides) before needing to swim back up, and its worth noting most Bluenights prefer living in the Twilight Zone and only going to the Midnight Zone for more 'exotic' snacks. The Bluenights that do reside in the Midnight Zone dont usually stay as the Abyss Zone below them is an area where their light wont shine.
(Sun) and fellow Flowerfish can only live in the Sunlight Zone and are incapable of going any deeper. They may be capable of adapting to water change such as saltwater to freshwater or vice versa, but they arent capable of adapting to depth.
And its alright to have 'disturbing questions' about their species as long as they arent sexual. Youre talking to a self-proclaimed scientist whose gotten more information on these mers more than the actual ones have, its my job to know these things no matter how disturbing they may be.

Eclipse do you sometimes stay with Sun when Moon is out hunting?
Sun: "Not really... (Bluenight like Moon) know how to identify... like, the situation and all. If Moony knows I cant handle it, he gets protective... If knows I can handle it, he lets me handle it. Like, how... like this silent agreement with us... you know?"

Eclipse: "When Im awake, yes. I know Moon is capable of hunting on his own, so I leave him be; if he ever needs help, he knows how to call me. I stay with Sun so theres something to return his pulses——to keep him grounded, if you will; he may not be fully blind, but its still hard for him to tell his direction without using his echolocation.
For the most part, though, my runts usually hunt together. Moon only hunts alone if Sun is tired or had just woken up."
Moon Sun or Eclipse do you have any advice on how to stand up to someone who really scares you or how to stand up to someone bullying you I ask because I figured you 3 must have gone through it due to everything that has happened and I wanted to know what you had for advice on it and also you guys are super cool hope your doing good and lots of love and care also sorry if that brings up bad memories👍

Moon: "I dont mind them, I guess. All they do is just... float 'round. If they dont bother me, I dont bother them. I do recall one of my clan members eating one as, in your human equivalent, a 'dare'. We can actually digest them——whole and alive. I didnt expect that."
Eclipse: "Hm... Well, I dont have much thoughts on these transparent beings. I do remember when I surfaced for the first and saw a bunch of them... all red in color... I was fascinated."
" The Flowerfish, nor the Bluenight or the Taiten know what an aquarium is, hence why they had no answer but confusion——and I didnt want to explain knowing they will likely kill me (as if I control aquarium construction!). I will say that Merfry are the main target for the aquariums——theyre human-sized, after all; theyre drugged tame until they forget every natural aspect of theirs and act as how the aquarium want them to.
Also, yes, they can breath out of the water without much limits, but they prefer staying in the water because, well... they find the smell of the 'human air' disgusting due to smoke and such. "
