u know matsuda was blunt and cold to his collegues and takagi is a bit of a doormat. so if one of those nameless cops find out takagi is matsuda what is their reaction

I also imagine if Takagi did get his memories back (which I do have a scene in mind for but it might take me a while to write it.), he tends to act differently depending on who he's talking to.

If he's talking to Furuya for example, he acts more like Matsuda did than he would with anyone else.

Whereas if he's talking to people from division one, like Chiba, he acts more like Takagi.

Bits of Takagi still bleed through when he's talking to Furuya and bits of Matsuda still bleed through when he's talking to Chiba obviously.

And It's not intentional by any means, he's just used to acting like that with Furuya because Matsuda knew him for 4 years, whereas Takagi has only known him for a few months*.

Whereas Matsuda never met Chiba, the two only met after Matsuda had already lost his memories and started living as Takagi, so he is used to acting like that around Chiba.

Someone who doesn't know the situation would probably look at this and assume Takagi doesn't like Furuya, when in reality they're both close and that's how they both feel used to him acting.

u know i've been thinking how matsuda can make it down the ferris wheel safely for many many years ur au just gave me the incentive say out loud. see matsudas problem was the message will come 3 sec before the bomb explodes and the gondola cant move without exploding. solving this problem one by one. see matsuda doest have to physically see the message. he always text hagiwara so whats to say he doesnt have an extra phone on him with hagiwaras sim card.he can set up the phone for live streaming or video calll, he would be able see the message(as for old phone not being able video call conan timeline magic and hiro canonically died a month later with an iphone).now how to get down the ferris wheel see the main problem is the mercury lever that will move with vibration but did you know dry ice can freeze mercury. so then no problem if he moves. now, how will he get dry ice that high enough. well he went up with it. do you many shops now a days make icecream in front of u with dry ice or liquid nitrogen. u can also instantly make carbonated drink with dry ice. dry ice has better portable container than liquid nitrogen.the ferris wheel is next to a mall maybe one of those shops is there,maybe their even a do it yourself version specialty store. matsuda saw the advert for this store and something clicked into his head he also bought a bunch of bubblegum cuz of the plamia bomb yesterday. he went into the store an commandeered a container that would last dry ice for 5-6 hours cuz the fax came approx at 9 am and the bomb was supposed to go off at 2pm. matsuda left the hq way earlier than sato and megure so maybe this was what he was doing. so gets in 72 gondola sees the mercury lever uses the dry ice to freeze the mercury,now can move freely,sets up the phone with wrench,other tools and duct/black tape so it can film the lcd screen, doest tell sato anything cuz theres a bug also what if he dies he doesnt want to get her hopes up. uses his belt as makeshift rope to get down the gondola. its so high up there no one will notice a human climbing down. still uses the inner side of the ferris wheel so as not to be seen cuz what if the bomber has binoculars. gets down almost dislocates his shoulder cuz getting down like that needs hella upperbody strenght. the mercury lever is off but the timer is still going down. sit down on the near horizontal groove sees the location arrive on the livestream sends the sms. the bomb blows up. gets hit by debris and heat wave on his back. spots a person that matches the profile of the bomber.gets down the ferris wheel mangles his hand in the process cuz hanging from that hieght holding sharp rusted iron. gets down suspect is still there quietly follows that guy. the suspect feels that someone is on to him and quickly tries to lose the tail. matsuda follows but the bloodloss,heat wave debris hitting on the back, a concussion,also mercury fumes are toxic and cause nerve damage catches, he loses consciousness near the river around the ferris wheel. Wakes up in the hospital amnesiac. But now his injuries are different than what you've headcanoned. his hands are mangled and must be reconstructed using surgical techniques also only his back was hit with heat wave as his back was to the bomb so only his back has skin grafts. the debris that hit him was thankfully not much only a few broken bones and other burned area due to hot debris. this way too they dont have his fingerfrints for verfication,he has scars on his hand and his dexterity has lowered but the degree of his injuries is less.

So what do you think about my theory. i would love to hear your thoughts and critiques. we can together refine it further what do you think!

But I personally prefer the thought that his survival was an accident.

One of the traits Matsuda and Takagi both share is their willingness to sacrifice themselves to protect people.

And I feel like it dampens it if Matsuda just faked his death to catch the culprit.

In the AU, Takagi's willingness to sacrifice himself in that elevator is a moment that shows that, despite how different they may seem, he hasn't changed at his core.

And I feel that Matsuda trying to fake his death would just cheapen that, if that makes sense?

no i dont intend to say that matsuda faked his death. he just didnt want the bomber(who was listening through the bug) to know he could safely get down. see if the bomber knew that the officer in the trap couls safely get down he could immediately detonate the bomb in the hospital and that was something that could not be allowed. he had all the intentions of going down and informing megure and sato that he survived but he gotted sidetracked because of a suspect matching profile of the bomber. the guy has been waiting for 4 years to catch the bomber to avenge his friend he is not letting a clue go, he can inform sato a bit later after catching up to the suspect but then he loses consciousness.

Personally i also dont want matsuda to fake his death(it just happened well due to circumstance). as a child i fell in love with him cuz he readily sacrificed his life for the people both him and takagi. its their personal charm and wouldnt want to take that from their character just for plot if that makes sense?

In the promise notebook case, we do see Takagi take on a stance that to my, admittedly untrained, eyes looked more similar to boxing than Judo. And the injuries he and his opponent have are injuries you'd see from punches, not judo throws

So he kinda already does that in the show XD.

i just found your matsuda is takagi au. man i squeeed so loud i startled my room mate, i've also had had the same thought you know for a while and just thought it was wishful thinking.

i wonder if sato actually figures it out first that takagi is matsuda. i just want to know her reaction working so hard to get over a guy to learn you have fallen in love with the same guy.

Also is there a scene where takagi randomly states a little niche factoid ala shinichi everyone including takagi is confused of how he knows a fact that no normal human does. cuz i remember hagiwara telling hiro matsuda loves dismantling bombs right after they started police academy. how does a college student know how do dismantle bomb that cant be legal. so takagi has these weirdest semi-legal knowledge base. on that note matsuda is very good at deduction, so takagi is also good at deduction but has self esteem of a hamster so never offers solution by himself and just goes with the flow of the detectives that seem to know things better and in some cases missing some direct info via memories that is required to solve the case. what do you think?

On the sidenote: the nephew could just be a kid that was hospitalised for a long time with takagi as such cuz of the companionship and the family of the kid grew closer so takagi is counted as an uncle.

Brain has considered a scenario where Sato finds out before Takagi.

I haven't figured everything out completely, but the scenario involves Takagi somehow getting implicated in a case that happened before he developed amnesia, and is being interrogated by a different division (the officers aren't believing the amnesia claim.) and the only way to clear his name is to figure out who he used to be and why he was at the crime scene. (Turns out the reason that he was at the crime scene is because he was investigating said crime. Absolute shocker I know XD)

Until then Sato had considered the possibility but ignored it for Takagi's sake, but in order to prove he's innocent, she has no choice but to acknowledge the possibility and thoroughly investigate to prove it. (And let me tell you, she is having a time during this investigation.)

After questioning some people, including a now retired former forensics officer, it's revealed that Matsuda somehow got injured at the scene. He did inform the necessary people that it was his blood, but due to a series of clerical errors, that fact didn't make it back to the lab so the blood was considered to potentially be the blood of a suspect.

Sato walks into the interrogation room Takagi is being badgered in and drops the evidence on the table before grabbing Takagi's hand leading him out of the room.

Afterwards the two have a heart to heart where she admits that she knows who he used to be, and asks if Takagi wants to know, or if he'd rather stay in the dark.

Megure: "...as I was saying, after further investigation we now believe it to be [the type of bomb Takagi just mentioned]"

Takagi: just as surprised as everyone else "...How do I know that?"

And I actually love the nephew Idea.

They likely met in the burn Intensive Care Unit (which is for all ages unlike the normal burn wards which are separated into a children's ward and an adult ward)

Eventually their conditions both improved so they were transferred to their respective wards, but they both visited each other during their recovery as part of their daily walks, both inspiring each other to get better.
