i think it's funny that some people would use maomao as an example of a 'strong female lead' to put down other shojo girls who are traditionally more girlish and feminine and emotionally sensitive (or 'crybabies') as if maomao wouldn't be the first one to jump into their defense if they're in the same universe. maomao is literally the most girls' girl, empathetic, understanding girl you'll ever see and she'll hate you for putting other fmcs down to lift her up

These moments where Maomao drops her guard a little and lets her mind wander at Jinshi. Her stares at him in those moments are deep, and one can assume admiring at some point?

Knowing Maomao, her curiosity arouses when something needs to be solved. She tends to have accurate hunches and analysis. She can't help but have internal conjectures regarding many different topics. Then why didn't she figure out Jinshi's identity despite her intrigue?

As seen, Maomao usually shies away from anything that might put her into the limelight. By now, she must have noticed Jinshi's interest in her. And she definitely noticed that there's some secret not being addressed loudly about him.

Every time her mind wonders about Jinshi, she shuts down the thought. As if she is scared of what she might find. What if she figured out something about him that put her in a difficult spot?

Also, I like to believe that she purposefully ignores thinking about him so she won't catch feelings, but that's an assumption on my part.

Jinshi, on the other hand, desperately wishes she had already figured his identity, so it'd put his mind at ease.

Will she accept him, knowing she may not want to put up with their social differences? We're well aware of his unease regarding that.
